  1. Dasvi - tenth pass (movie review)@sayee1545d

Dasvi is the story of a politician. What is so special about it, you may ask?

India is a country notorious for illiterate politicians being elected solely because of manpower and money power and not on the basis of merit, usually. So, it is not surprising to find a politician who is not capable of office, still ruling a state and yet treating educated secretaries shabbily.

This still is the case in many states. Dasvi tries to show this situation but in a light manner.

The lead role is played by Abhishek Bachan who gives an excellent performance. Abhishek is an actor who has been underrated but with the right storyline and director, he can pull it off and he did.

The charming police officer who helps him clear the 'Dasvi' or the tenth exam is played by Yami Gautam and the shy wife who turns power-hungry when she is asked to become the temporary chief minister is played by Nimrat Kaur. Really commendable performances.

The message is loud and clear. Education matters and the people are fed up with being ruled by politicians who do not know the basics even.

The story in short Ganga Ram is a politician who orders the transfer of a police officer and soon he is arrested for corruption. He appoints his wife as the temporary CM and rules the state from within the jail premises with the help of corrupt police officers.

The convenient situation is soon disrupted when the officer whose transfer he had ordered arrives as the jail authority and makes sure he cannot do as he pleases. His wife who now tastes the power starts to play the role of a politician to the T. So, she tries to discourage her husband who is now aiming to pass the secondary school examination after being ridiculed by the officer. He realizes that his wife does not want him to progress and studies the subjects with the help of his jail inmates and the officer who understands his situation.

The movie shows how he does manage to clear the exam and the elections too. However, instead of choosing to be the chief minister again, he appoints an educated youngster as the CM and he takes the oath as the education minister.

The scenes where Ganga Ram is shown to help the martyrs of the country are very touching because it shows how an uneducated person realizes what he has missed all these days by being ignorant of the history of the country.

I am not sure if you will enjoy the movie or not but as an ordinary citizen who faced the floods of 2018 because of the miscalculation of rains by an uneducated minister of state, I can relate to this movie and only hope that the future will see more bright and capable people in office who are responsible to the state and country.

Thanks to the OTT platforms, we are now able to watch movies without delay.

The movie is now being aired on Netflix.
