Hola, mis amigos. Bienvenidos, una vez más, a mi blog. Mi saludo para todos, en especial a los miembros de esta comunidad.

Los más jóvenes quizás no recuerden esta serie que salió al aire en el 2004, conocida también como Mujeres Desesperadas o Amas de Casa Desesperadas, según el país. En Cuba fue vista un poco después (aquí todo llega tarde)y resultó ser una sensación entre los televidentes, por su mezcla de drama, misterio y humor negro. A mí, en particular, me fascinó. Recuerdo que la trasmitían en un horario que coincidía con el trabajo, pero siempre me las arreglaba para verla.

Hay un famoso refrán que dice: "no vayas a casa de nadie..." que se ajusta perfectamente a esta serie que trata, entre otras cosas, sobre las apariencias, el oscuro encanto de lo suburbano, los secretos tóxicos de las familias que aparentan ser perfectas a la vista de los demás mientras enconden terribles crímenes. Todo transcurre en una calle "idílica"de una hermosa y "tranquila" urbe.

Algo interesante es que la serie es narrada, desde ultratumba, por el personaje de Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong). Cuenta con un elenco femenino de excelencia: Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher y Nicollette Sheridan. Cada una de estas mujeres es protagonista y encarnan un mundo de conflictos domésticos.

Creada por Marc Cherry, la serie se convirtió en un hit mundial. La trama posee un guión ingenioso y combina crítica social con elementos de telenovela. Entre los temas fundamentales que toca están la infidelidad, las adicciones, las crisis existenciales y la maternidad.

Esta no es una serie para ser vista por menores ya que tiene lenguajes y escenas propias de adultos (relaciones con menores, violencia, suicidio, asesinatos y lenguaje fuerte).

Esposas Desesperadas, desde mi punto de vista, es una serie inteligente y filosófica, con actuaciones inolvidables y diálogos afilados, cortantes, capaz de mantener enganchados a la pantalla a los espectadores más exigentes.

Hello, my friends. Welcome once again to my blog. My greetings to all, especially to the members of this community.

Younger viewers might not remember this series that aired in 2004, also known as Mujeres Desesperadas or Amas de Casa Desesperadas depending on the country. In Cuba it was seen a little later (everything arrives late here) and became a sensation among viewers due to its mix of drama, mystery, and dark humor. I, personally, was fascinated by it. I remember it aired during my work hours, but I always managed to find a way to watch it.

There's a famous saying that goes, "no one knows what happens behind closed doors..." which fits this series perfectly. It deals, among other things, with appearances, the dark charm of the suburbs, and the toxic secrets of families who seem perfect to the outside world while hiding terrible crimes. Everything unfolds on an "idyllic" street in a beautiful and "tranquil" town.

Something interesting is that the series is narrated from beyond the grave by the character Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong). It boasts an excellent female cast: Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher, and Nicollette Sheridan. Each of these women is a protagonist, embodying a world of domestic conflicts.

Created by Marc Cherry, the series became a worldwide hit. The plot features a clever script and blends social critique with elements of a soap opera. Among the fundamental themes it tackles are infidelity, addiction, existential crises, and motherhood.

This is not a series suitable for minors, as it contains adult language and scenes (involving relationships with minors, violence, suicide, murder, and strong language).

Desperate Housewives, in my view, is an intelligent and philosophical series, with unforgettable performances and razor-sharp dialogue, capable of keeping even the most demanding viewers glued to the screen.

Desperate housewives is a series that I saw in my teenage years. I didn't quite follow the series sequentially back then but I tried with season one after which I just started watching it haphazardly because they were in disc and getting them according to seasons proved quite difficult. At one point, I got frustrated skipping and missing out on the episodes that I just abandoned. For a while now, I have been craving a movie that borders on lifestyle, more like a series. Something I could watch and harmonize into my daily activities but be warned, desperate housewives is a long one, each season has about 23 episodes and once you start watching, you'll be hooked.

The storyline borders around the life of women including the main character who committed suicide at the very beginning because she was being blackmailed. You know, one thing that I love about the show is how nicely everything unraveled in the end and even when I had already added one and two together and knew exactly where everything was headed and how it would play out, I was still glued watching to see the outcome. That's how good the actors were in delivering their roles.

I really did enjoy season one and I did not intend to be a spoiler but I'd give a short summary.

Like the name of the show, Desperate Housewives, the women were desperate, really desperate. From the main character, Mary Alice who desperately wanted to keep a family secret to her friends who struggled with motherhood, relationships and marital crisis. You see, from the movie, amongst all her friends, Mary Alice seemed to be the one with the perfect life. She appears to have the perfect family and whenever her friends who doubles as her neighbours visit for some chit chat, they do not hesitate to pour out their hearts while she advises them.

While Mary Alice's friends were too engrossed in their personal crisis, they failed to pay attention to see that behind the picture perfect home that Mary Alice created, lies a big secret that their friend would die to protect. It was after her death that they realized life isn't as it seemed and while they carried on with their struggles, they were hell bent on knowing what actually prompted their friend to commiting suicide.

From this series, I reaffirmed the values of honesty, contentment, understanding and communication because that seemed to be the major lacking ingredients in the lives of the women from these series.

In all it's a good watch for me and I'd rate it 8/10

Hi, my dear friends!

I haven't written anything about cinema for a couple of weeks. To be honest, I had a difficult period and I ... just reviewed old films and series. Should I write about them? But then I thought, why not? I think that each of us has films or series that we review again and again. I usually do this when I am having difficulties in life or I am too tired to take in new information. Psychologically, this behavior is explained by the fact that when we review films that we have already seen, we already know how everything will end, and this gives our psyche the opportunity to gain a sense of confidence and control.

This time I chose the series Desperate Housewives as a psychotherapeutic tool. It makes no sense to invent a description on your own, so the quote follows, and below I will share my own thoughts and impressions.

Desperate Housewives is an American comedy-drama mystery television series created by Marc Cherry and produced by ABC Studios and Cherry Productions. It aired for eight seasons on ABC from October 3, 2004, until May 13, 2012, for a total of 180 episodes. Executive producer Marc Cherry served as showrunner. Other executive producers since the fourth season included Bob Daily, George W. Perkins, John Pardee, Joey Murphy, David Grossman, and Larry Shaw.

Set on Wisteria Lane, a street in the fictional town of Fairview in the fictional Eagle State, Desperate Housewives follows the lives of a group of women as seen through the eyes of their friend and neighbor who took her life by suicide in the pilot episode. The storyline covers fifteen years of the women's lives over eight seasons, set between the years 2004–2008, and later 2013–2018 (the storyline includes a five-year jump in time, as well as flashbacks and flashforwards ranging from the 1980s to the 2020s). They work through domestic struggles and family life, while facing the secrets, crimes, and mysteries hidden behind the doors of their—on the surface—beautiful and seemingly perfect suburban neighborhood.

The series features an ensemble cast, headed by Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp, and Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis. The supporting cast included Nicollette Sheridan as Edie Britt, Dana Delany as Katherine Mayfair, and Vanessa Williams as Renee Perry. Brenda Strong narrates the series as the late Mary Alice Young, appearing sporadically in flashbacks or dream sequences.

Desperate Housewives was well received by viewers and critics alike, receiving many accolades. It won multiple Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards. From the 2004–05 through the 2008–09 television seasons, its first five seasons were rated amongst the top ten most-watched series. In 2007, it was reported to be the most popular show in its demographic worldwide, with an audience of approximately 120 million and was also reported as the third-most-watched television series in a study of ratings in twenty countries. In 2012, it remained the most-watched comedy series internationally based on data from Eurodata TV Worldwide, which measured ratings across five continents; it has held this position since 2006. In August 2011, it was confirmed that the eighth season of Desperate Housewives would be the show's last; the series finale aired on May 13, 2012. By the end of the series, it had surpassed Charmed with the most episodes in an hour-long television series featuring all female leads.

I have to say that I'm not a big fan of women's shows. Usually I prefer detectives, mysticism or horror films. But in this case, I must pay tribute to the creators of this show, which allows not only to watch the plot, but also to plunge into the peculiarities of life and relationships between people in another country. This is probably not so obvious to the American audience, but being on the other side of the ocean, I watched with great interest the details of everyday life shown in the film.

The second interesting moment for me is the heroines of the show themselves. I don't know if this is the intention of the authors, but it seems to me that each of them vividly represents some of the female archetypes. In any case, there is such an accent in each of the female characters…

Both female and male characters are very ambiguous, which makes them very realistic. The positive is intertwined with the negative, they do good and bad things, make mistakes and try (or don't try) to fix it. This makes them very lifelike.

Indeed, we are all ambiguous and life is very complicated. In it there is not only black and white, but also a lot of other shades. No wonder they say that everyone has their own truth. The truth is, well, it's probably somewhere in between.

There are features of the organization of life that are very interesting and unusual. For example, how the entrance of children to school is organized. It's not like that for us at all. There are many more such moments in the series that will be of interest to a non-American audience.

And one more point that attracts me personally is the opportunity to spy on interior and garden ideas. It may seem a little strange, but it's true. How everything is arranged in houses, how plants are used to decorate the approaches to the house. For me personally, all this is a source of inspiration and I always get a boost of energy to act and improve something in my house or garden. Well, what can I say ... Everyone has their own oddities. But in the end, if it's all positive, then who cares?

In general, if you ask me whether it is worth watching the series Desperate Housewives, I will no doubt answer positively. You will get a beautiful picture with a lot of interesting details, a fairly dynamic plot and a great opportunity to escape from everyday life.

En un ataque de nostalgia, estuve viendo una de las series que más me gustaron durante mi adolescencia: Desperate housewives, en América Latina se llamó Amas de casa desesperadas, es una producción coral norteamericana que incluso ha sido versionada en Colombia, México y España que se prolongó durante ocho (08) temporadas y que incluyeron un sin fin de temáticas que la hacían muy interesante y casi adictiva. No es una serie vertiginosa como Breaking Bad, Game of thrones, Ozark o Narcos, es más bien una telenovela enclaustrada de forma magistral en el formato de serie.

La versión original fue protagonizada por Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Niccolette Sheriddan, entre otras. La serie versa sobre cinco amigas que viven en una misma calle de un bonito vecindario a las afueras , cuya acción se desencadena cuando Mary Alice Young (Una de las cinco amigas) se suicida dejando tras de ese evento muchas interrogantes y misterios que le hablan al espectador capítulo a capítulo que nunca nada es lo que parece.

El argumento de la serie se basa principalmente en la naturaleza humana, no hay personas absolutamente malas o buenas, solo hay personas humanas con sus aristas y sus decisiones. La producción muestra una constante interacción entre los miembros de la comunidad, una forma muy original de narrar la historia la presenta como una comedia y le quita dramatismo a situaciones como el suicidio, el asesinato, el consumo de drogas o alcohol, el adulterio, la estafa, el machismo, los trastornos obsesivos compulsivos, la homosexualidad, la promiscuidad, la adolescencia, las relaciones vecinales y la siempre complicada y velada competencia entre hombres y mujeres.

La serie resulta refrescante y altamente entretenida, combina una historia simple, que pocas veces se enreda, con magistrales actuaciones y un guión muy bien logrado que como se dijo, le quita dramatismo a situaciones que son realmente duras, resulta un joya en cuanto a la amistad sin apego, y como las mujeres pueden convivir bajo relaciones de respeto, ser amigas sin que la incipiente envidia les amenace la relación. Y sobre todo la impoluta verdad de que nada es perfecto y mucho menos, lo que parece.

Si alguien está interesado en revivirla, la plataforma #Star+ la tiene en su catálogo permanente y se encontrará no sólo con la nostalgia, sino con una de las producciones de señal abierta más importantes de los últimos tiempos, una buena forma de invertir los carnavales y obtener un poco de sano entretenimiento.
