The Man with the Scissors: A Classic from the '90s81@ikigaidesign43d
Original stories, straight out of fairy tales, but with a twist—difficult to take in and understand, reminiscent of those classic films—I came across the story of the man with scissors for hands. Does anyone remember it?
Edward Scissorhands, a young man created by a scientist who was unable to finish him, leaving him with scissors in place of hands.
🎬 Edward Scissorhands 🎬
This film was released in 1990, directed by TIM BURTON and starring the now-famous Johnny Depp, alongside actress Winona Ryder.
Here we see a story set in a world of the unimaginable, featuring an eccentric man who works wonders with his scissor hands, creating unique and extraordinary cuts with indescribable simplicity and ingenuity.
But the most peculiar thing about this story is its underlying theme, in which we see how society is swayed by appearances—something we still see today—and in a world full of chaos, when a stranger arrives, unaware of what evil is, he becomes the target of mockery, abuse, and rejection.
Eduardo is a victim of all this, misunderstood in his world, but at the same time, he knows what true love and true friendship are, and that is what he carries in his mind and heart.
It’s a story full of drama, romance, and fantasy; I recommend it to you, in case you haven’t seen it—a classic from the ’90s.

The film begins by showing us the interior of a room in a house in a small suburb in the middle of a snowy night. An elderly woman says goodbye to her granddaughter, who is lying in bed, but she asks her to tell her where the snow comes from. The old woman decides to tell her a story about "scissors", more specifically about a man with scissor hands. At the top of the hill in that village stands a gloomy castle that, according to legend, is cursed. An inventor lived there who created many things, including a 100% artificial man with organs, a heart, and a brain, but no hands.

It's no exaggeration to say that I've seen this movie countless times since I was a child. It's definitely one of my favorite Tim Burton films, not only for its visual appeal, but also for its story and characters. Clearly, the first thing that always caught my attention was the appearance of the main character, Edward, and it's no wonder why. But beyond a few unforgettable scenes and the occasional supporting character, the film indirectly influenced my taste for the gothic and the unusual. Ironically, this is precisely what the story told here is about.
Despite the number of times I've seen it, it wasn't until now that I realized many interesting things that it shows us throughout its hour and forty minutes. It's normal that, with age, your perception of things you saw before changes quite a bit, but what happens with Edward Scissorhands is quite interesting because it was easy for me to understand the background of everything it tells us. From the beginning, we are introduced to the story of a man who was artificially created but remained incomplete and therefore has scissors instead of hands.

What's interesting is not only this, but also where she lives, a small suburb of colorful houses with typical families of that era. One day, a cosmetics saleswoman has no luck presenting her new products to her neighbors, which makes her decide to try her luck at the dark and desolate castle at the end of the street. The woman enters the main courtyard, fascinated by the appearance of the trees and the view. She enters the huge house and goes up to the top floor after hearing footsteps, and at the top, she encounters a man in a black suit, with disheveled hair, pale skin, and scissor hands.
Upon encountering our strange friend named Edward, our cosmetics saleswoman comes up with the "great" idea of taking him home to live with her. Without consulting anyone, she takes Edward in her car to her house, but on the way, several neighbors who are walking around notice this, talk about what they saw among themselves, and decide to go and see who the person walking with our saleswoman is. The neighbors' reaction and the behavior of the saleswoman's husband and youngest son are anything but uncomfortable. In fact, the neighbors are the ones most interested in meeting Edward.
This story has several underlying themes that are very interesting, themes that the members of this town are interested in with the visit of our young man with scissor hands. The first thing to note about all this is the life these people lead, interested in material things, appearances, and the physical. With their colorful and eye-catching houses and clothes, we can sense how this society appears to be good people, which they are not really. In the presence of our Edward, people begin to talk, gossip, and judge everything this individual does. It is as if it were all a spectacle for them.
This selfish display of interest that we see in this film intensifies as the minutes pass when they discover that Edward has a great ability with his scissor hands. They ask him to trim their gardens, their dogs, and even their own hair. On the other hand, being an artificial human being, Edward shows a certain distrust and fear of the people who approach him. However, with the help of the cosmetics lady, he gradually loosens up and we see him treating people normally. It is not until the children of these families come home from college that everything turns into chaos.
In short, typical American youth of that era. Couples of rebellious delinquents and troublemakers interested in money, having a nice car, drinking, or going to parties. Edward's life in these suburbs is anything but fun, if you ask me. Maybe it's because I share what it's like to live alone and all that, although unlike Edward, I do it by choice. The thing is, all our gothic protagonist learns in this city is pure trauma, social, moral, and legal problems, and a bunch of complex issues like bank loans, social security, and mortgages.
Another thing we notice is the way people see and treat Edward, not as a human being, but as a specimen, an object of utility and entertainment. When our protagonist has problems or makes mistakes, the people around him judge him and distance themselves from him as if he were dangerous. On the other hand, Edward is only interested in what he can do with his scissor hands and in keeping people away by doing them all kinds of favors. But something new is born within him, and it intensifies as he spends time with Kim, the cosmetics lady's daughter.
I don't have much to say about this character, since she is almost always seen with her boyfriend since her appearance in the film. Unfortunately for our protagonist, she does not show interest in him like the others do because she sees him as strange and dangerous. Later, we see some development in their relationship, but it is not until the end that this happens. Even so, regardless of what she has or has not done, my view of Kim remains that she is simply a hormonal girl with a certain sense of justice. As for the romance we see in this film, I will only say that I liked how it was developed through the direction, cinematography, and visual artistry.
Regardless of what I think of the characters, there are scenes that are simply fascinating due to their audiovisual aspect. Tim Burton definitely knows how to thrill us in a unique way with his films. I honestly think it was good that the relationship between Kim and Edward was as we see it in this film. This strays a bit from the typical love story that Hollywood always tells us, which only focuses on the physical and the usual clichés. Apart from the interest in what is different and how easy it is to judge others without even getting to know them well, this film shows us an excellent example of pure love.
And yes, I feel a little strange talking about this, but I won't deny that I'm a complete romantic and watching this movie completely fascinated me. When I finished watching it a few hours ago, I couldn't help but compare it to fantasy classics such as Beauty and the Beast or even the story of Frankenstein itself. Perhaps Tim Burton, with his great imagination and unique storytelling style, created this film inspired by the classics I've mentioned. I don't know, but whatever the case, it turned out spectacular. Apart from that, Johnny Depp, as always, does an excellent job playing Edward.
It's hard not to identify with this character, especially me, considering myself a complete stranger to today's society. Everything our protagonist experiences in this story leaves us with a clear life lesson: no one is evil by nature; it is society that turns you into a danger. I know what I've just written sounds very nihilistic, but in a sense, that's how it is in real life. Because of everything we experience and suffer today, it's hard not to be traumatized, upset, or hate certain things. Sometimes we prefer to get away from it all to find the peace that the world is always searching for.
But there is also another side to all this that this film teaches us, and that is what we truly feel, what we truly are, and what the people we truly care about feel and think. In the end, it is not what people say about us, but what we believe ourselves to be that defines us. This is one of the many lessons we learn from this film's fantastic love story. Another thing I like about this film is how tragic the love story is. As strange as it may sound, the ending of this film is a clear example that not every love story has a happy ending.
Last but not least, let's talk about its audiovisual aspect. Tim Burton had already defined his own style of directing and producing by the time he made this film, which is why we notice from the beginning how gothic, strange, and at the same time fantastic everything is. There is also the issue of photography, the mixture of bright and varied color palettes with dark and cold ones. The same is true of the practical visual effects, the makeup, and the visual appearance of the castle and even Edward himself. The sound effects stand out quite a bit, but nothing compared to the soundtrack, which is one of my favorites thanks to the work of Danny Elfman. In short, here's a gothic film that you have to see.
Personally, I give it a well-deserved rating of 9.5/10 in terms of the romance and fantasy genre.
Tell me, have you seen this movie yet? What did you think of it? You can leave your answer in the comments.

The story of the young scissorhands is summarized in a young man created by an inventor who did not have time to complete it because he suffered a heart attack. Edward (Jhonny Deep) was only missing his hands which were replaced by a pair of scissors. An amateur make-up artist met the young man in the middle of a search for clients and after the encounter decided to take him home so that he could integrate into society. The indifference of the people to the unknown made Edward, despite having fallen in love with Kim (Winona Ryder) who was his true love in real life, force him to move away and never return. But in her there always remained his memory and love in the deepest part of his heart.
Although the film is a bit dated and lacking in special effects for me it was one of Burton's best works. Who did not hesitate for a second to call Depp to play Edward. I honestly enjoyed this installment very much and although Depp never ceased to amaze me, many times he brought tears to my eyes with his brilliant performance and faith in himself.
Edward represented the novel, the misunderstood, the forbidden. But he was also the turning point between the real and the fantasy between what is presented to us in youth and what we desire for life with faults and virtues. For me and having seen it on more than one occasion the film still unleashes feelings that only someone who truly understands Edward knows how to overcome.
I believe that films like this one are an example that the old was not only history, but that even in modern times they are sometimes better than so much trash and so much dazzle.
So if you still haven't found a nice film for a healthy summer and more if they are fantastic for romance and why not drama I recommend this brilliant installment full of mystery, love and adventure.

›CineTV Contest: Edward Scissorhands my first memories about movies (EN/ES)@ismaelgranados737d
English
Hello friends of Hive, before I close this contest I want to tell you about my favorite movie with Johnny Depp as the main character, the truth is I haven't seen many, I can count them on the fingers of one hand, I think Pirates of the Caribbean was what boosted his career, because of it everyone knew him, that saga was a big box office hit. However, although I think his Pirates of the Caribbean movies are good, Edward Scissorhands is the most impressive thing I've seen, and it takes me back to my childhood, it's such an iconic movie that I think we all remember it from the first time we saw it.
When I think of this movie, I see myself about 5 years old, on a Sunday in front of the TV watching one of the local channels, and that classic dubbing voice saying, "Edward Scissorhands" a movie that was probably not for children, but I think that before the unsuitable scenes were somewhat disguised or were so subtle that really in our innocence we didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.
I recently went back to this movie, and I was surprised how young Winona Rider was, I did not remember her, and as I saw her last time in Stranger Things, I was surprised by the change although I must say that nowadays she is quite well preserved. On the other hand speaking of Johny Depp, who is the one who concerns us, I find an exceptional performance, as his character conveys emotions just with his look, I think his look is the most memorable in my case, that look between sadness, uncertainty, that feeling of not belonging, is the first thing that comes to my mind when I remember this character.
On the other hand, the wardrobe in his different presentations is incredible, so Tim Burton, from the most freak, to the most grunge, punk or I don't know specifically what trend he followed but it was a mixture of several styles, I saw that the hair was inspired by Robert Smith of The Cure, the truth is that it looks quite similar.
Another thing that I remember and that caught my attention was the use of colors, I think pastel colors were often used for scenes inside the house or on the facades of houses, gardens, they had a warm totality quite eighties.
I find it very curious how Tim Burton knows how to make the most of Jhony Depp's talent, they are practically an artistic marriage, and I'm not sure about it, but I imagine that Edward Scissorhands was the beginning of this artist-director relationship, which has entertained us so much with the seventh art. .
I would like to talk more about this movie, review every aspect but really it's been many years since I saw it, and when I talk about it I connect with my past and I wanted to be spontaneous in my writing without so much planning and review structure.
Thank you very much .

Hello to everyone in the CineTV community! Today I join the community to participate in the #109 contest with the theme of this opportunity: Jhonny Deep's favorite movie. I couldn't contain myself with the choice I made about my favorite movie where this actor participates. Usually he is not one of my favorites but I can remember how he won my esteem in the first movie I saw of his: "Young Scissorhands". A movie that I'm sure many of you also appreciate not only for the nostalgia factor, but for how touching, meaningful and endearing it is let's start with it!
"Young Scissorhands" is from 1990. By that year I didn't even exist, but I remember watching it as a child back in 2005-2006. By that time, at home we had an old TV that was our only source for watching movies, shows or series. I liked to wait for the weekend because there was always a marathon of movies of all kinds. Among those, one day they aired "The Young Scissorhands". With that sweet beginning, of an old woman telling Edward's story to her little granddaughter, I got caught up in the movie. A total beauty in every way.
For me this film takes the title of favorite for several reasons. Tim Burton's aesthetic, with those colorful sets and characters in contrast to a grim/achromatic Edward, is a plus. That image of Deep with his "disheveled" hair, his shredded and tattered clothes, plus his giant and varied scissors on his limbs, is something that makes an impact but at the same time seems harmless. Deep is able to make us feel comfortable with something that in any other context we would feel rejection. We love Edward. We identify with Edward and his discomfort in front of this world that is totally different from what he knows and is, but that in spite of it he tries to make it his own (to adapt/be accepted). A bit sad.
For me, Deep's work is very good because he fits so well within Tim Burton's universe. That concept of "the strange being beautiful" is what Deep conveys in the character of Edward throughout the film. If that's not reason enough to like it, I don't know what else could be better. There's no way you could find Edward to be terrible (even during his worst moments). Although the "tenderness" is not the only thing here (although I would say it's more like innocence), as the film is more about a society's rejection of what's different, I think Edward's sacrifice at the end of the film reaffirms what I said above about the nobility of heart that Deep embodies so well. Finally, it's a classic and I like classics. With nothing more to say, thanks for stopping by, see you next time.
Amamos a Edward.
Hello and good afternoon friends of the cinema. I hope you are well. Today I would like to refer to a very interesting movie full of reflections. The film is called Edward Scissorhands and is a Tim Burton production where the main protagonist is Johnny Depp.
The movie was released in the 1990's and at the beginning when I saw it for the first time I didn't understand many scenes. But after I watched it several times I began to understand its complexity.
The plot of the film begins when it shows a dark and gloomy mansion where inside some years ago lived an inventor who gradually began to create a man. He thought he would finish it but his heart failed before finishing it. The young man was only missing his hands. This small detail along with his other distinctive features were a source of curiosity for a professional make-up artist who gradually became attached to his story. She took him home and integrated him into society, but Edward felt alienated, self-conscious and with little hope of finding someone who would send him because of his defects. It was then when he fell in love with the daughter of the stylist and there what was once a blockbuster became the real life of the leading actor. Although the ending was not the happiest of all because Eduard had to continue living away from the village, the film captivated everyone because of the different teachings it transmitted.
One of the things he taught us is how difficult it is to live in society when you are different. The people around you don't adapt to the new and with their actions they often hurt others.
Jhonny and Winnona's performance stayed in my memory because it was so special the feeling they showed that I would have loved to have come across a scene like that. Here Tim's wit in showing how difficult it is to live in society helps us deal with many things we have to deal with on a daily basis. But it's always good to be sure of ourselves even if we're not in tune.
I can't imagine another Edward without Jhonny because his expressiveness and naturalness with which he defends each of the lines of the script make him unique and special.
In the title of the content I reflect that the film is a biographical film and I say this because it is an almost exact reflection of the personal life of the producer. When he saw the result of his work, he did not hesitate for a second to keep looking for Johnny for each of the films he would present because according to him "Depp is an almost exact copy of himself".
Personally I am a lover of the film and every time I watch it I shed several tears during the project. So friends, I hope you liked today's installment and that you have been encouraged to enjoy this beautiful film full of contrasts.

I leave you with the review, I hope you like it c:
The movie, "Edward Scissorhands" was directed by the genius Tim Burton and released in 1990. This movie is well known for its different visual style and touching narrative. Below I will give you a more detailed analysis of it:
One of the most striking aspects of the film is its distinctive visual style. Tim Burton was in charge of creating a gothic and mysterious world, which contrasts with the monotony of the rest. The extravagant scenery, the use of bright colors and eccentric characters like Edward, make the film unforgettable when it comes to aesthetics.
Edward, played by ✨Johnny Depp✨ is an artificial being created by an inventor who died of cardiac arrest before he could make him real hands. That's why in his place, Edward has a pair of scissors. This physical trait makes him obviously very unusual and dangerous for the people around, but at the same time, it makes him a lonely and unfortunate being.
The film addresses issues of exclusion and how society often rejects what is different. Edward is a metaphor for social exclusion and how difficult it is for people to understand and accept what is out of the ordinary. As the story progresses, we can see how the community adores him for his gifts, but then rejects him for his appearance.
The film focuses primarily on Edward's search for love and acceptance. As he integrates into the community, he develops close relationships with the neighbors, especially Kim (Winona Ryder), to whom he becomes attracted and from there begins to experience the desire to be accepted by those around him. His love story with the girl (Kim) is somewhat touching and personally sad, as they face great challenges due to their notable differences.
Danny Elfman's music is another highlight of the film, as it fits very well with the atmosphere of the story.
In summary, "Edward Scissorhands" is a film that combines fantasy, romance, drama and comedy. It delivers a great reflection on acceptance, difference and human nature. Johnny Depp's excellent performance and the director's artistic vision make this film a timeless classic that is part of the movie culture.
An inventor creates Edward an artificial young man, but unfortunately the inventor dies before putting his hands on him, so he is left with scissors as hands, he has never left the castle but one day a cheerful lady decides to take him to his house, everyone finds out about his arrival and he begins to be famous for his skills and skill with scissors, but he is someone strange, so he has many problems.
The film begins with the narration of a story that a grandmother tells her granddaughter, her story begins with a makeup saleswoman named Peg, a rather cheerful and friendly lady who enters the castle with the intention of selling them makeup, when he meets Edward, a quite disoriented young man, at first he is scared, but then he realizes that he was left alone, his "father" died before completing it, thus leaving him with scissors instead of hands, so he wants to help him integrate into the neighborhood, everyone quite nosy instantly finds out about this new guest.
Her family is not comfortable with Peg's decision but little by little they begin to accept it, her eldest daughter Kim is camping with her friends, so she did not know about her mother's decision, she takes this great surprise when he returns and sees him in his room.
Edward has great skill with his scissor hands, he started trimming the bushes in the neighborhood and then as a stylist, but everything starts to get worse when Edward falls in love with Kim, her boyfriend started giving He realized this and wanted to use it to steal from his parents, thus putting Edward in trouble, he is captured and begins to be judged by everyone, they end up falling in love with each other but Kim's now ex-boyfriend ends up causing a lot of problems for those who remain as guilty Edward, until Edward finally has to flee the neighborhood and go back to his castle, but Kim's ex-boyfriend follows him and breaks up. He fights roughly, but when he's hurting Kim, he doesn't hesitate to kill him.
When the crowd of people arrived, Kim told them that they both killed each other, so they all left, he was left alone where he spent the rest of his life and Kim never sees him again but she always remembers him, that's when we meet account that this is the grandmother from the beginning filming this affair for her granddaughter.
I admit that I thought that this movie would be scary, I had never seen it, because I had always had that idea or at least that it was something like "crazy Adams" or something like that, but I was surprised and that it is a movie to something sad, the adaptation of the character Edward in society and how they use him because of his good heart and he begins to be judged by everyone, it reminded me a bit of beauty and the beast haha unlike Kim and Edward didn't stay together, he was isolated again and she lived her life as she came but without ever forgetting him.
›Film Review: Edward Scissorhands (1990)80@drax1392d
Few Hollywood film makers embody the ethos of “style over substance” as much as Tim Burton does. Thankfully, Burton also possesses rich imagination and talent to put its products on screen in ways that would make his film interesting even when their substance leaves much to be desired. And when there is actually some substance in Burton’s films, results are truly remarkable, like in the case of his 1990 romantic fantasy film Edward Scissorhands.
The plot, framed as a story grandmother tells her granddaughter, begins when Peg Boggs (played by Dianne Wiest), cosmetic products saleswoman, leaves her suburb after unsuccessful attempts to make sale among her neighbours and decides to venture towards nearby, apparently abandoned, Gothic-style mansion. There she finds a strange looking young man named Edward (played by Johnny Depp) who has large sets of scissors where his hands would supposed to be. Through flashbacks it is revealed that Edward wasn’t born, but actually created by eccentric old inventor (played by Vincent Price) who died before having him finished and provided proper arms. Despite his unusual looks, Peg takes pity of Edward and decides to bring him to suburban home and family. Edward, who is curious but harmless, causes a lot of attention in neighbourhood and later wins hearts and minds with his skills of gardening and hairdressing. Things, however, change when Peg’s teenage daughter Kim (played by Winona Ryder) returns home after school trip. At first scared by strange addition to her home, she begins to understand him, while Edwards develops romantic feelings for her. Unfortunately, Kim’s arrogant boyfriend Jim (played by Anthony Michael Hall) feel jealous and starts series of events that would end with misunderstandings, violence and tragedy.
Edward Scissorhands is often considered to be the best film in Burton’s career. In any case, it is his most personal. The basic plot of the film was in many ways inspired by author’s growing up in suburban Burbank, California during 1960s during which he was considered by his neighbours and peers as “weird” outcast. Character of Edward was unmistakably Burton’s alter ego and was further developed through good script by novelist Caroline Thompson. The plot was further refined by taking the bits of various tales of outcasts from Romantic and Gothic fiction, including Classic Hollywood horror films among the most noticeable is James Whale’s 1931 version of Frankenstein. This deeply personal vision was brought at the screen when Burton was at the top of his career, after enormous commercial success of Batman. This allowed Burton to get large budget from 20th Century Fox together with creative control which was unusual for Hollywood directors at the time. He has put those resources to good use and also gathered many great talents – production designer Bo Welch who created bizarre worlds of suburbia and Edward’s castle, costume designer Colleen Atwood who made suburban character look as colourful as Edward, special effects expert Stan Winston and, finally, composer and Burton’s old associate Danny Elfman who delivered a recognisable yet original and effective score.
The most important element of the film was, however, the cast and, naturally, the actor in title role. Johnny Depp, who was at the time trying to discard image of teen idol based on 21st Jump Street, embraced this unusual and demanding role with great vigour and enthusiasm. The role not only demanded that Depp stays under heavy makeup for much of production, but also to find the way to build strange but likeable character with more pure emotion and less talk. Long preparation, which included studying performances of silent era stars like Chaplin, paid off and Edward Scissorhands represents one of the best roles of his career. With it he has built reputation not just as great actor but also as someone willing to take risks and play quirky, unusual characters that would later build his reputation and bring him loyal fandom. Depp’s performance was in many ways augmented by presence of Winona Ryder, young actress who played character completely different from the one she had played in Burton’s earlier film Beetlejuice. Kim is here presented as “normie”, a girl that embodies “proper” suburban values, wears “proper” clothes, has “proper” hairstyle (providing Ryder one of her rare roles where she was blonde) and has “proper” romantic life by dating typical high school jock. Her character is introduced gradually, but nevertheless quickly transforms in romantic heroine and person who begins to understand and sympathise with charming stranger. Performances of Depp and Ryder benefited from their widely publicised romantic relationship in real life, which undoubtedly helped their on screen chemistry. The rest of cast was also good, especially Kathy Baker and Boggs’ over-sexed neighbour and Dianne Wiest playing one of the most kindhearted characters of her career. Fans of Classic Hollywood would probably appreciate Vincent Price in his last role, although the actor was quite frail during production and, in light of that, his character’s death scene looks quite moving.
Many interpreted Edward Scissorhands as semi-autobiographical film and Burton’s allegorical self-portrayal as misunderstood artists, a motive that he would further use later in Ed Wood. Film works on that level, just as it effectively mixes various genre. It begins as fairytale, turns into comedy taking satirical stabs at suburbia in the middle and, finally, becomes melodrama with increasingly dark and violent overtones near the end. There are some that might have issues with character of Edward being unfinished in script just as he is unfinished in the plot. There are many questions about him that are left unanswered, including whether he is human, robot or something in between. Some might dislike violence near the end that would make this film inappropriate for younger viewers that would have actually liked it. Despite that, Edward Scissorhands made very good results at the box office and earned critical accolades. Most of them were quite deserved and this film can be recommended even to those viewers who aren’t among Burton’s or Depp’s fans.
Greetings friends and welcome to a publication about movies.
Today I come to share a film of a great actor named Johnny Depp, which this film he plays the role of Edward, in this film only highlights this man, also the interpretation of his role for that time was very good, also this is a film a little old, to be old I mean a lot.
This film is called Young Scissorhands, it falls into the genres of Fantasy, comedy and romance.
Although this movie is very old, it is very good, because I still find the character played by Johnny Depp very cute, there are also more actors in this movie, but I liked his role of the young scissorhands the most.
THE MAN WHO USES SCISSORS AS HANDS.
At the beginning of this movie, an old woman tells us the story of a man who, instead of having ordinary hands, he had scissors hands, this man lives in a huge mansion on the top of a hill, in a very hard working and quiet village, according to children's stories this mansion is bewitched.
We will begin to know the story of this man with scissors hands, which an inventor lived in this mansion, his creations were very amazing that even made life easier for humans, this old inventor having no children because he dedicated his whole life to inventions, wanted to create a man, So he gave him organs, a brain, and a body, but the only thing he lacked were hands, so he put scissors instead of hands until he invented the way to make hands that could move like an ordinary person, but due to life situations he could not do it.
EDWARD
Edward is the same man who instead of having hands has scissors, this man has no emotions because he is not a human being, but a machine that an inventor was creating to not feel alone, but for life situations, Edward was alone, day after day and night after night Edward watched the town from the windows of his mansion.
Wondering if someday he would be able to leave his home, but what Edward does not know is that life will give him a reason not to leave it.
EVERYDAY LIFE.
Many people live in a village that is around the mansion where Edward lives, a village a little colorful and full of peace and tranquility, from there we will meet Peg, a working woman who is not very good at selling in this place, because the women of this place are very conceited, gossipy and interested.
One day Peg was trying to sell some Avon products to the neighbors of her town, but she had no luck because they are all very conceited and very bad people, not to mention interested, so Peg came up with the brilliant idea of selling her products to the mention where our friend Edward is.
THE NORMAL LIFE
Edward for the first time will begin to leave his mansion with the help of a friend who will help him to have a normal life like any human being, but what her friend does not know is that Edward is not a human being but a machine that an inventor designed to accompany him, although over the years Edward had obtained some feelings, but the most attached to him is the feeling of fear, so everything scares him.
Many neighbors in the area go to Edward because he is a very handsome man, thus attracting the attention of all, men do not care because everyone in this town go to work, so they do not know what is happening in the houses with their families.

Although Edward cannot eat normally, dress himself or at least touch his face without being cut by the scissors, Edward begins to know a special gift, which is cutting hair, so he begins to work cutting the hair of all the women in the village, but due to the harassment of a woman, Edward begins to flee to not cause inconvenience to anyone, so our friend must make a decision.
What will Edward's decision be?
Conclusion
Seeing all the things that Edward has had to go through so that he could only know a small part of the world is very sad, since he is a very nice man and a little special, he manages to capture the attention of all the women in the village where he lives.
This movie even though it is a bit old, it makes me remember how good it was back then when I saw it, back then there were no HD videos like what we are used to now, neither was there Netflix to help us see beyond what we knew about movies.
This makes me think about how much humanity has evolved since then.
The audience to which you can watch this movie is for ages 13+, it's good for family viewing and enjoyment.

Hello, Internet people! I hope you are ok. Today I want to tell you about one of my favourite films starring my favourite actor, the beloved Jhonny Deep, and directed and produced by one of my favourite actors, the one and only Tim Burton.
Edward is a young man who was created by a wealthy doctor, who died before he was finished, as a result of which Edward has scissors for hands. Peg, a door-to-door saleswoman, arrives at the mansion in a desperate attempt to sell her products to whoever lives there, but she meets Edward and after the initial shock realises that he is harmless and also extremely innocent and adorable, so in order not to leave him there alone and abandoned, she takes him to her house.
Later, Edward meets the family, including the eldest daughter shortly after the other members (in a very funny scene, by the way) and actually falls in love with her. Peg's neighbours become curious about the new young man in the neighbourhood, so they pester Peg to have a barbecue so they can all come and see him. The gathering is a success and Edward becomes very popular as he not only has scissors for hands but is also very good with them (making nice landscaping in the gardens) so he also starts cutting the hair of dogs and later ladies.
But we soon realise that all the attention Edward receives is not for free as everyone around him, except for the Boggs family, takes advantage of him and his innocence as they all want him to mow their garden in exchange for lemonade and biscuits and one of the neighbours wants him to work in her beauty salon where she also sexually harasses him, scaring him and where Edward runs away. Edward's refusal to accede to this neighbour's base instincts and the jealousy that Kim's boyfriend awakens when he realises Ed's feelings for his girlfriend, gradually harm the innocent boy. I would say that Kim's boyfriend is the one who does the most damage because he takes advantage of the misunderstandings surrounding Edward to make him look bad and make him feel guilty for the accidents he causes.
Kim realises that her boyfriend is an idiot and ends the relationship, realising that her feelings are with Edward. She and her family try to defend him from everyone who thinks he is a threat, but it doesn't work and Edward ends up fleeing back to the mansion where he is mercilessly attacked by Jin (Kim's ex-boyfriend) but it isn't until he hits Kim that Edward decides to defend himself and the girl, killing the hateful Jin with his scissors.
Edward realises that he can't be with Kim because people don't accept him and he doesn't want to force her to be an outcast like him, so he says goodbye to her forever, after a tender kiss between them and the confession of her feelings for him, and then she leaves, never to see him again.
I'll start by talking about the film's photography and its artwork. The story is based on a drawing that Tim Burton made as a teenager and whose colour palette (monochrome) was used for Edward and his life of seclusion inside his creator's mansion. In the film we constantly see the ambiguity of both worlds (Edward's and other people's) marked or shaped by the colour palettes, Edward and his mansion is all monochromatic and dark while the neighbourhood is very "perfect" and colourful. However, if we analyse well, everything internally is inverted, as I will explain below:
In cinema, dark colours are usually used to denote evil, etc. while pastel or vibrant colour palettes express the opposite and it's something used in this film but after analysing the personalities of all the characters, we notice that the protagonist of the dark colour palette (Edward) is very innocent, adorable, noble and pure of heart while the neighbours of the neighbourhood (belonging to the vibrant colour palette) are selfish, manipulative, gossipy and disloyal. With this Burton gives us a clear lesson: Don't judge a book by its cover and not everything you see is what it seems.
The camera shots are great, we have the best scenes thanks to this aspect and the presentation of Edward is great, that subjective shot between light and dark while he approaches moving the blades of his hands is amazing or the recognised and beautiful scene of Kim's dance under the snow that Ed creates by sculpting ice.
The soundtrack, besides being extremely successful, is extremely beautiful. It has the perfect balance between mysterious, sensitive and nostalgic, it really transmits a lot and accompanies the scenes perfectly. The use of Violas, Cello, Violoncello and violins are used a lot and help a lot to this kind of mysterious and fictional settings (clearly these are instruments that apply to any genre depending on the composition and the use in these, but I'm just giving a point of reference). I'll leave the playlist below.
The performances were top notch, and if I had to single out anyone it would obviously be Jhonny Deep, who played the lead role. Being a rookie at that time, Jhonny managed to stand out in this film, receiving a Golden Globe nomination and industry recognition, from then on he got a lot of contracts as the main character. In addition, this first work with Tim Burton made the director fall in love with Johnny's acting and asked him to star in almost all his works.
Finally, the story and script of this film is a gem in its entirety. It tells a tale that although sad, is quite beautiful and teaches us what I had already mentioned when talking about the colour palette, that we should not judge people by their appearance but by their personality. It's quite sad to see that Ed could not escape his loneliness thanks to the hasty and superficial judgement of people who consider themselves "normal", however in real life situations like this still happen in some places and this story shows us the side of the "outcast" making us empathise with him to the point of wanting to protect him from the excesses of "normal" people. Undoubtedly one of the best films I have seen and for me one of Tim Burton's best works.
And well, people, that's all for today's post, I hope you liked it. Thank you very much as always for supporting my work, I welcome new readers, I love you all very much, I send you a hug and I'll see you in another post.
When I saw this movie, I remember the excitement, but not as much as when I saw its release date (1990), the movie is older than 30 years and it surprises me because I had not seen it earlier despite being a classic.
Starring nothing more and nothing less than my favourite, Johnny Depp, has a duration of 105 minutes and belongs to a mix of categories between comedy, romance, drama and fantasy. He was nominated for Oscar Awards in the best makeup category, but pitifully did not get the Award.
The plot takes place around the creation of a robot with a human appearance that Edward began and as the title mentions, he has scissors, this happens because the creator of him has died preventing himself completely culminating him. At the beginning of the film we find an advanced age who tells a girl the reason why she snows in the territory of her. It is then that we started to know a story a little tragic and sweet at the same time.
Edward Despite having intimidating and tenebrous appearance has a pretty innocent, friendly and gentle personality, which is why he gets a lady to adopt him and I took it from the place where he is. It ends up living with a family to which it does not seem to bother him his appearance, but rather end up including him in his home activities, as taking advantage of his scissor hand, he manages to do tasks such as pruning the garden, making ice sculptures, and even hairdresser. Everything seems to become a great time until he knows a girl who is also a member of the family and ends up falling in love with her.
Is here when the film begins to become a bit dramatic and negative, because the girl who Edward falls in love with a couple, so it becomes a kind of love triangle and to dangerous, they begin to live certain misadventures ending in a tragic end . The grandmother we see at the beginning of the movie ends up revealing the girl the reason that snow falling into that place.
I regret not telling you anymore but it is because my intention is not narrative, or rather, ruining the intrigue to those who have not seen the movie. Rather, I want you to go and see it. Enjoy it a lot, I consider it a good movie.
›[Review movies] The loneliest robot: "Edward Scissorhands"@filoso2003d
The eerie abandoned castle represents Edward's origin which the world's aesthetics don't accept. The neat and uniform city pattern and brightly colored houses represent the point of view, which is the boundary between humans and robots.
There are many fixed combinations of directors and actors in the film industry. Mentioning this director's name can often hook the actor. When talking about this actor, the first reaction is the director who works with him. For example, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, Tim Burton can be called a genius, whether it's a bizarre storyline or a preference for a dark Gothic style, his films are always full of some kind of originality. An invisible magical temperament, this temperament is a label affixed to the film, which at first glance is obvious. Johnny Depp, who rose to fame when he was young, is often seen as withdrawn for his arbitrary style, even being called a character actor by Hollywood. Depp looks like it was made especially for the Burton films, For a character that looks weird and cold, Depp played the role perfectly. They have worked together to contribute many popular classics to film fans. "Edward Scissorhands" is the first time the two have collaborated. Since then, they have also collaborated on "Edwood", "Dream End", "Charlie and the Chocolate DreamWorks", "Alice in Wonderland" etc.
Burton rarely takes on realistic themes. Throughout the directorial work, from the original "Frankenstein", "Frankenstein", "Beatles Juice", "Batman" to the latest release "Alice in Wonderland" The series is all fantasy-themed. All of his films are heartbreaking fairy tales. The same is true of Edward Scissorhands. In a small town with bright and uniform architecture, lies a castle that has long been abandoned. People only know that scientists with lonely characters live there, and they know nothing else. Until one day, the kindhearted Avon seller, Pegg, broke into this castle and found that a robot with hand scissors lives in it. He called himself Edward. Of course hand scissors here do not refer to scissors. If you pay close attention, You will find that apart from the scissors we take in the usual sense, there are also sharp knives of different styles. Pegg took her home and placed her in her daughter's bedroom. Then the Hollywood routine started to shine and dominated the direction of the story. Edward and Pegg's daughter Kim gradually falls in love, but in the end they separate. Edward finally returns to the isolated castle. This film is full of symbolism, or symbols. The grisly abandoned fortress represents Edward's origin which the world's aesthetics don't accept. The neat and uniform pattern of cities and brightly colored houses represent a position that is not only the boundary between humans and robots, but also the film's conflict. Even though the gossiping housewives in the small town are the same, they represent the secular "we're always right" vision. I have never been optimistic about the level of human acceptance of heterogeneous species, and our literary works often fly the banner of "my non-racial must have a different heart". It must be evolution. In this lengthy and full of crisis, each race must be alert enough to the outside world in order to survive. We not only have to be aware of the outside world, but often we cannot give full confidence to our own kind. As previous generations of indoctrination taught us, we must be protected by the law. Hate someone with a reservation, because an enemy's enemy is a friend; love someone with reservation, because the person who is stabbed in the back is often the most trusted person. This kind of doctrine means that it is applicable everywhere in the world. But for Edward's robot, he doesn't have a reservation. What makes robots cuter than humans is that they don't have any cunning plans like humans that have evolved over tens of thousands of years. When a strange but kind robot appears in the ghost world, you can imagine a major conflict. Edward has won people's hearts through creative gardening and hair design. There was even a neighbor woman who had written "Give me a man" on her face from the start, and she seduced Edward, and the results were ridiculous; Kim's girlfriend takes advantage of Edward's obedience to Jin and asks him to go to his own house to steal. After the incident is exposed, Edward is locked in the house and taken away by the authorities, but Jin's girlfriend hurriedly pushes boundaries; Ge, also used Edward to contact Avon's senior management; Kim's younger brother first takes Edward to school to show off and play riddles around him. Then, tired of playing, he left it like a toy that had lost interest. On the other hand, Edward always pays attention to Jin's younger brother and always tries to fulfill his requirements. He sees Peg as a savior and is generally grateful and respectful. He did not confess to the police when he treated Jin's girlfriend. Of course, she has treated Jin Edward in her heart, of course, rejecting the neighbor whose hormone is splashing. Because of this, everyone has a prejudice against Edward. People also started slandering him behind his back, seeing him as a real thief and thinking that "
The overall tone of the film is still warm and bright. There is a scene in that movie. Kim returned from the trip and saw Edward for the first time, who was lying on his waterbed, staring into the dripping eyes. The king was shocked and Edward was also shocked. King's father took Edward into the basement and poured him a glass of wine. She casually says it is lemon juice. After Edward drank it through a straw, he was exposed to the harsh alcohol and felt tastes and feelings that he had never felt before. If you use love as a metaphor, it's like a glass of strong wine, which makes people a little drunk and imagined. This was an extraordinary experience that had never happened before for him. If you classify films, to be precise, these are not strictly science fiction films, but fairy tales of love. Many similar scripts have happened in our real life. Edward's scissors hand may be a financial constraint or a humble identity. In short, the film concretizes this gap, making it even more romantic and beautiful. Just like a small town that never snows, it only snows after Edward falls in love with Kim. Not the snowflakes flying, but her love for him. A love fairy tale is not chicken soup, but lemon juice, not to say something we all understand, but to give us a kind of innocent, beautiful longing. Why do we like fairy tales, because reality is too discordant, there is true love in fairy tales. This is not an escape, on the contrary, this is a bold pursuit. We need to drink this glass of lemon juice to remind ourselves that there is pure love in this world, unconditional love. It is Burton's deepest inspiration and greatest touch. By convention, just talking about the main line of the film, I believe whether it's the talented Tim Burton or the perverted Johnny Depp, people are already familiar with them, even if they don't watch the film very often, they are familiar with these two names. It won't feel strange. Many of Burton's popular films are on various must-see lists. Movies like "Big Fish" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" are classics in film history. Here mainly talking about the female lead "Edward Scissorhands", Winona, actor King. The background is not small. When he was 17 years old, he appears on movie posters almost all the way in the United States. She's called "the luckiest girl in the world", and she's not as famous as Depp. Even more interestingly, the two men had defined their relationship before filming "Edward Scissorhands". After this film, their relationship deepened. Depp wrote "winona forever" on his right arm (forever). Winona) to show his sincerity. Too bad the two of them didn't make it to the end. This is another "love fairy tale" in the real world. the relationship between the two deepened. Depp wrote "winona forever" on his right arm (forever). Winona) to show his sincerity. Too bad the two of them didn't make it to the end. This is another "love fairy tale" in the real world. the relationship between the two deepened. ›REVIEW : "Edward Scissorhands" (1990) - Movie by Tim Burton50@mandibil2343d
I remember friends telling me about this new "fantasy" movie called Edward Scissorhands back in the early nineties. I will admit that back then I was just your average video movie rental kind of guy who primarily watched whatever was mainstream popular (In some ways, the video age helped destroy some of the legacy of old classics and Avantgarde). But a young man looking like a ghost with scissors for hands, was not exactly what I was looking for.
When I eventually watched it (on VHS), it did not settle with me at all. I understood the old school horror references and such, but this sort of B-movie horror was never my cup up tea in the first place. I used to classify this as primarily for teens who wanted something colourful, glossy and safely horrifying. Completely out of my scope.
Fast forward some 25 odd years and it arrives on blu-ray in my collection (it was a cheap second hander). I thought, let me give it a try. I could not remember the story at all and I only had that vision of Depp in outlandish goth costume and makeup ... and oh, Winona Ryder. I remember her ... but that was more because of her looks than her acting as such.
Some movies deserves to be seen in all the glory of modern digital high definition and not on some lousy, worn out, rental VHS, cut to 4:3. I like to revisit old movies that have received something like a new life as we have entered into this glorious digital restoration age, as it gives it its rightful expression and the fairest judgment. And it is safe to say that visually this one is a completely different story now. My blu-ray version looks absolutely stunning.
I understand better now the story that Burton wants to tell. It is about feeling isolated in a world where you absolutely do not fit in. And even when you try to act as best you can, you are either destroying something, being judged or used for the benefit of others. The tale is as old as anything and it is an integral part of the horror lore I guess since it lends itself so easily to isolated, haunted houses and quirky characters and such.
The story is framed as a bedtime story told to a little girl by a grandmother - about a man Edward with scissors for hands. Edward lives alone in an old castle on top a hill at the end of the road of a cookie cutter build suburban area where everyone lives the American consumer dream of the sixties and seventies. Except, that they also have more modern equipment like CD players and VCRs. So it is a mix of everything suburban up until the time of the filming of the movie so to say.
Edward is found by a door to door sales-woman, and she eventually ends up inviting him to come live with her family down in suburbia. Edward is I awe of all the colourful and fancy "stuff" everywhere and the beauty of the daughter in the family. But he is like a fish out of water who fits in like a round peg in a square hole.
His hands is always in the way or they are clumsy and pretty useless for all the conventional things that he is expected to do. But at the same time, they discover that when he uses them for something that he is good at, he can do artistic things that no one else is capable of. He can cut a bush into the shape of a dinosaur just like that or give all the women in the neighbourhood a fancy new haircut.
As the women all take a liking to him, and even starts to fancy him sexually because of his "exotic" nature I guess, including the hot young daughter, he also becomes a rival to her fiancée, who will do almost anything to get Edward out of the picture.
Edward is a pretty much clueless boy who can be used any way a narcissist would please, and he is set up so he ends in situations where he is bound to hurt people with his awkward but dangerous hands. He eventually ends up being chased away and flees to his old, isolated gothic castle where he can be left alone.
It is not an overstatement to say that Tim Burton uses pretty much every horror cliché in the book with Edward Scissorhands. But in his defence I would say that he manages to bring the goth horror down to an innocent level and combine it with an everyday world on the other side. Granted, that everyday world is not exactly correct, but somewhat distorted and caricatured.
It is no secret either that the movie is highly autobiographical and the life of Edward is condensed from Burton´s own experiences in a likewise suburban upbringing. It is clear to me that Burton must have some mild form of autism. Edward´s complete lack of understanding the people and the things around him and his empty gaze all points to autism to me.
I just point this out, out of interest and respect not as a way of putting him or his movies down. It is what makes Tim Burton, Tim Burton. His style pretty much goes through all his movies and he tends to use the same lead character, Johnny Depp, as he is probably one of the few people who he trusts and who understands his weird universe.
The downside is though, that the emotional depth of Burton´s movies are always pretty shallow. They do not have the ability to stir those deep sensations that "normal" directors can in their (best) work. This movie feels infantile and hollow at the core. I know it is supposedly a good night story but still. When you truly open it up, there is nothing there. Just like for an autistic person I guess. There is no real empathy or sympathy, just a pretty self-centred and to some extend, self-pitying personality, who I cannot identify with, more than on a platonic level.
So while the cinematography is pretty awe-inspiring at times, it feels disconnected with the story and more like a toy-story kid playing a game with all the various unconnected pieces of toys in the room and sticking it together to something that could be called coherent. He does not go deep where he needs to go deep, but stays safely in the teenage, glossy and also pretty sentimental mood, when he should be digging deep in my opinion. There are obvious references to silent German expressionism, which is a specific passion of mine, but it cannot bring more than an "ah, he got that from Nosferatu.." - like remark. It is not an expressionist movie as such.
So all in all, it gets a small recommendation from me for an entertaining watch. But as a story it does not work for me. If you cut all the fancy art away, there is not really any interesting or engaging story there. And when it all comes down, this is where the basic meat of good cinema is. All stories have been told, it is the way it is told .. and the way does not work for me in Edward Scissorhands.
Hello friends cinephiles!. I present my retro-movie segment of today to relive those good memories of those movies and that marked a beautiful time.
Today I will share "Edward Scissorhands", is a American film of 1990 starring Johnny Deep and Winona Ryder directed by Tim Burton, which mixes genres such as dark fantasy along with romantic elements.
*** Synopsis: ***
"An artificially created man named Edward (Johnny Deep) who has scissors instead of hands, Edward is adopted by a middle class family that lives in a very peculiar residential neighborhood and ends up in love with the teenage daughter, Kim (Winona Ryder)".
This was the last performance of the actor Vincent Price (Creator and Father of Edward) before dying due to lung cancer, on October 25, 1993 at 82 years of age. This role was created exclusively for him. As a tribute to his entire career, Tim Burton asked him to work for him as he admired his work.
The shoot was made in a real community in Florida, where about 50 houses were rented, making a change in the facades and gardens.
Although the choice for the role of Edward was always Johnny Depp, other actors were taken into account as Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr., Jim Carrey and even Michael Jackson to play the role.
Kim's role was to be starred in the beginning by Drew Barrymore, since Winona Ryder was going to make the Godfather III film by Francis Ford Coppola, but Johnny Depp convinced her to accept the role of Kim.
Edward's role played by Depp contains only 195 words. The makeup so white on the face was the idea of the actor himself, who says he was inspired by Chaplin.
In the scene where Edward escapes back to his home, the actor Depp fainted from exhaustion, by the heat so suffocating he did and because of the leather suit he wore.
The scene in which several neighbors feed Edward with giant spoons of food, caused the actor to get sick, since he had to perform about 20 times that scene which caused him to vomit.
Burton commented that the scene in which all the neighbors run after Edward almost at the end of the film, is a memory of the furious villagers in Frankenstein, even though he decided that they should not carry torches.
The character's scissors were quite heavy, so the costumes weighed a total of around five kilos.
Johnny Deep had to lose more than 11 kilos for the role of Edward.
For those who did not know Winona Ryder's hair is black so she changed her blonde color to do her performance.
Winona Ryder and Johnny Deep were engaged at the time of the recording of this movie.
It's all for today friends Steemians
Until another chance.

›Edward Scissorhands (film): an odd, but wonderful film90@gooddream2876d
They year was 1990 and I was at a point in my life were I was beginning to transition to seeing films based on directors rather than actors. Tim Burton had made some of my favorite movies up to this point, so I didn't allow the extremely strange name and story of the film to turn me away - and I'm glad I didn't because this movie is done brilliantly.
With a title like this it should come as no surprise that the story is a bit "out there." Edward is a synthetic human who was created rather than born by an eccentric member of a community who was an inventor of curios devices. Unfortunately the creator dies before he finishes Edward and thus he must live his life with sharp blades instead of fingers. He is discovered in the now derelict mansion by a kind-hearted member of the community who is a door-to-door Avon salesperson, who takes Edward home with her so that he doesn't have to be alone.
Thus begins the tale of how difficult it can be to fit into a new community and I suppose the fact that he has scissors for hands could be some sort of extreme metaphor. At first everyone welcomes him and he is actually extremely popular as it is discovered he has a penchant for cutting hair.
But for reasons that I will let you discover on your own, eventually the town turns on him and despite the fact that he can cut the bejesus out of you and can be considered a monster, he has very little in the way of evil going on inside him.
It is worth noting that Winona Ryder became the fantasy pin-up girl for every teenage boy in the world during this film. I was one of those people and I still kind of have a crush on her to this day despite her performance in the Aliens franchise.
The music in the movie is outstanding and this is the 4th time that Tim Burton and Danny Elfman have worked together. Both of them cite this film as being their favorite or at least "most personal" work that they have ever done.
This movie has tremendous rewatch value and the characters are perfectly cast. The movie is near flawless and even the things that are flawed such as the neighborhood seeming a bit "fake" was likely done intentionally.
