BABYLON (2019) [ENG/ESP]@yaslenysofia903d

Justice and morality are two abstract conceptions, based on human beliefs of what is good and bad in society. This can fracture in determining situations by various factors among them, frustration, social imbalance, greed, disappointment, death, among others, become the source of that argument that structures the social whole and the harmony that maintains in it. Greetings @theanimerealm community, from this, I want to talk about the anime Babylon, which I do not know how I came to see it, only that I was struck by the image and from the first chapter attracted me.
Most people who focus on the career of police, detectives, Thursday and so on seek the sense of justice and do good, not all, but let's say a large part. In this, enters Zen Seizaki, an officer of the newly created district in Tokyo, called Shiniki; a place of experiments so to speak, because it wants to adopt new laws and concepts that differ from the current ones, but, as he enters a case of a pharmaceutical company, he gradually discovers dark political secrets in which the district is involved.
After that, he is not only affected psychologically, but also his environment, losing several of his colleagues in the process and all because of one person, Ai Magase, a girl who hides a very frightening ability, playing with the mind of whoever comes across her path. She will also be a crucial bridge to a law they wish to pass: The Suicide Law, where everyone has the opportunity to end their life without being judged for such a thought and action.
The world of our protagonist gradually collapses, until at one point he doubts what he had defended so much, justice. And, above all, it brings into debate a moral issue that is quite recurrent in everyday life: suicide; approached from the reflective perspective of each one of us, that is, the perception we have about it.
With Babylon, I can not say that I like it and I would watch it all the time, because there are certain plot flaws, especially in the final chapters, which do not end up completely enter the enigma that surrounds the characters in question, even more with the antagonist of the story, I feel that her background is not clear, maybe it's her nature, it's like what is known as the killer gene; She was a psychopath and that's it, there is no doubt about it, but in my opinion something else was missing, I did not clarify how she reached the goal she had set, easily with her ability she could get everyone to commit suicide and that's it, why it was necessary for her to comply with the Law.
I love the way the music plays with each scene, I can't deny that and it has an aesthetic that fits very well with the development of the story. Also, I love the main image that promotes the anime, if you get to see it, you will realize that it tells you every detail that is presented in it and for me, that is a good illustrative and psychological resource.
Now, with respect to all the themes that are conjugated within the anime and the character of Magase, if we go back to the time of Babylon, obviously it is strongly influenced or, rather, it could be said that it is based on the harlot of Babylon, there is a connection between the two figures. The harlot, beyond being a physical person, is that symbolism of what the city represented, a place of drunkenness and prostitution, everything far from the "moral good"; well, something could be related to this character.
Magase is the personification of what was emerging in the district, an essential fact towards new visions and questioning what is good or not, what is fair and unfair and what is better, with regard to suicidal thought and action, since it is a clear breach of the harmonious balance that maintains society. Likewise, it is clear those two worlds denoted in the main character and the antagonist and how they come to the conclusion of what is good and bad, the first is continuous while the other ends, basically one lets live and the other interrupts it, ironic isn't it? On Magase's part.
This also reminds me of the k-drama Tomorrow, which emphasized the theme of suicide; it is true that suicide ends the life of the person who commits it, however, the lives of others are affected, especially those who belong to the closest circle and that, when such an act is committed, any relationship that you formed in life will be irreparably broken; so, for that reason it becomes something bad, adding that the life of each one is something sacred and should be valued.
At the time, when I watched the anime, there was a comment that it should be legal and accepted for those people who are suffering from an incurable affliction and being alive becomes cruel, because he had seen his grandmother suffer from chemo, and she was screaming to be allowed to die. This is also really something of much philosophical debate, because would she really be ending her life? I would like you to answer whether it is right or wrong for a person to wish to die, when they already have a condition that really prevents them, and even others, from living. Is it their right to ask for death?
In my opinion, yes, since I don't know whether to tell him that he is asking for permission or rather, he allows others to be aware of his decision and may agree with it and be affected not in a bad way, but rather assume that this person is really suffering and that being alive is a poison that consumes him and does not allow him to be at peace and leave in the best possible way, is a poison that consumes them and does not allow them to be in peace and leave in the best possible way, since death will come sooner or later, it is the surest thing we have, but, if we leave this world with a clear conscience, I believe that having lived does not become a bad thing.
Thank you for reading my post. I hope you liked it. I will be attentive to answer your comments. You can visit my blog, follow my content and social networks.

A few days ago, I took the liberty to talk about the events that took place in a timeline, in the vast and wide universe of Fate, in the previous case I talked about the movie that takes place in a different world and serves as an introductory shot, before several events that will unravel later, unfortunately in terms of what is animation, only came to animate some adaptations of the game, because such adaptations are taken from the game whose first name is "Fate/Grand Order", the difference that lies with Fate/stay night at this point is that in stay night they managed to adapt all those routes of the visual novel, in the case of Grand Order not all, however they managed to animate the most outstanding or those that have had a good reception to the public, and the series because if it is a series unlike the film that I reviewed above, it is worth it for many factors.
In the case of this series or rather "singularity" the events that occur here are a little more complex in terms of difficulty, and later I will talk calmly about this and about what are the singularities in a very summarized or simplistic way, which I did in my previous review but I will do it again to keep that data in constant flow, were present in this series many things that I found interesting first the scale of power, somehow it surprises me how in one way or another they surpass the standards of ability at destructive level haha, second the participation and interaction of the characters, mainly Gilgamesh and third the acts of the heroic spirits (servants) and the problem to deal with or uniqueness, but all these aspects I will touch part by part later, so without further ado this time I bring you Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia.

Very well we are already in the section that I like the most, and now it is time to fragment this series part by part, but before arriving at that moment I will cover the points that I mentioned in the introduction, beginning with the scale of power of both the side of the heroic spirits invoked to protect the city of Uruk in Babylon and the invading forces that want to destroy this city and therefore humanity, in both sides and as certainly the series progresses we can see how little by little the abilities, corresponding to these heroic spirits or servants increase in an almost laughable way in so many ways, and this becomes very credible considering what kind of servant we are talking about and its origin, as for example in the case that was seen with Karna in Fate Apocripha which was considered a semi deity and in this case here we will see much of that, being accompanied by good animation elements.
In the routes adapted to the anime of Fate/stay night, Gilgamesh in this case of the archer class is shown as an arrogant, egocentric, narcissistic, selfish, charismatic and intelligent figure who in life was considered as the king of heroes and main semi deity, ruler in Babylon as well as protagonist in his epic which is titled with the same name, and one of the oldest and most primitive, it is worth mentioning that it is understandable why he is so by nature in this adaptation as well as other factors that I do not have time to mention, although personally I dislike him as a character for these aspects to his person, although he has shown certain nuances in some routes, however in the case of this series we are shown in this time a figure of Gilgamesh wiser, certainly arrogant but more balanced in several aspects I liked much more this version and its difference is that it is caster class here, which makes a great contrast with his archer counterpart from another dimension, here the figure of this Gilgamesh I liked a lot, I feel more human and humble.
The characters here will show a dynamic and deeper interaction in several topics, and I emphasize essentially in the servants who are in the faction of humans defending them, such things as understanding, tolerance, help to others, things so simple and yet so significant that gain weight and value considering the state in which they are and the cataclysm in which they live and that progressively will become worse in many ways, I really liked this interaction before such events, since little by little we see the human side of each one in their own way, both the heroic spirits and the people of Chaldea who are in that singularity to correct it.
Now in aspects like the animation I can say that I have no complaints at this point, certainly in this section for me I was not disappointed, and is very consistent with the lighting and the great palette of colors in the environment as well as in the characters and everything that makes up the series, I really like when it comes to seeing the most remarkable skills, I really like how when it comes to see the most outstanding skills of the servants or heroic spirits in battles certainly depending on the impact it has on the geographical areas or enemies, lighting and animation will present a great work at this point as well as a good dynamism in the movements of the characters when it comes to fight, at this point I have no complaints.
Regarding the plot I must first specify what I mean by singularities here in Fate / Grand Order before continuing to cover this aspect, the singularities are events that altered the course of history at some specific point of it, with the intention of taking a global incineration in condemnation from the past to the present affecting and ceasing the future of humanity, here in Babylon this is the last singularity but also the most difficult. In this plot we are presented with a scenario of resistance by the city of Uruk to unknown creatures, it is up to our heroes of Chaldea to defend this land and get the holy grail here to correct the situation, however all this will become more difficult as later on a more complex scenario will be presented in many ways and for me this was a good twist.
And with this I finish today's review, it is worth mentioning that there are few singularities that were animated in Fate/Grand Order and therefore if you are interested in knowing about the others, you should get involved in the game here for example I got to adapt very well from that game, to this series most of the things mostly omitting only slight details, I hope the reading has been to your liking and thank you for coming here, I tried to summarize or simplify the best I could with my interpretation here about this series, if you are interested in this series and want to know more about the wide world of Fate, talk about it in previous reviews without more to say until next time.
›Babylon (Anime Review)– Killing Yourself is Basically Like Having an Orgasm@dlstudios2337d
That title isn't the set up to a punchline. This is one of the only things I managed to get out of this absolute mess of a show. It's hard to even describe the show's plot and themes, because I have no idea what the show was even going for, but I'm going to give it my all to try. At one point early on I will have to talk spoilers, so if you want the 'Too Long didn't read' version of the review, it's a pretentious mess that fails to get across any kind of actual message.
The story starts in a newly found precinct in Japan, Shiniki. Established essentially as a testing ground for new laws, it operates partially apart from the rest of Japan. Investigating potential election interference, Zen becomes the center of something much bigger. People begin committing suicide who are connected to the case, as well as people close to him. The show begins to hint something supernatural may be going on, but isn't confirming it. Things in the early episodes get interesting really quickly.
And then things go off the rails entirely. The show's main villain, who is the biblical Whore of Babylon from revelations, can manipulate people with just a few words. She is responsible for the suicides, and the establishment and spreading of the 'Suicide Law' which would legalize suicide. The idea is the spread it across the entire world. You may be asking yourself why this woman is manipulating people to spread a suicide law across the world, one that isn't ever fully explained to the watcher of the show, or why it is she seems to want to involve Zen in all this. Well, according to here, Zen and here are alike in almost every way, except for one. And that one simple way they are different? She is evil. These are her words. She goes on about wanting to be the hero of the world, even if no one follows her, but also states she is evil.
When we finally get to talk to someone who is alive and under her spell, before he kills himself he says what he is feeling is exactly like sex. The longer you can hold on before orgasm the better, but eventually, you have to have that release, in this case, the release is killing yourself. And then he does it. This kind of establishes that there is something supernatural going on.
I am going explain to you the best I can the villain's plot from beginning to end, referring to some texts I was sending to a friend as it all happened just so I can express to you the best I can how I felt as I was watching this show. The Whore of Babylon, Magase, manipulates politicians in Shiniki to plant the seeds to spread the Suicide Law World Wide, as well as pushing individuals to kill themselves with this weird hypnotic power of hers. While doing so, she kills Zen's Partner to get him involved in the case.
Telling Zen that she wants him to understand her and that she is indeed evil while he is good, she kills all his team with her suicide powers but forces him to watch her kill his second in command brutally with an ax. All Zen's plans have failed, and the suicide law is adopted into Shiniki. It begins spreading to other cities across the globe, forcing a summit of many world leaders to discuss the ethics of this suicide law. Episode nine enters the President of the United States, who spends the whole episode pondering, and it isn't until episode eleven the summit commences. Now we have the President, and four other world leaders, discussing the ethical core of the show without the main character present at all (Mind you, he is currently working with the FBI to catch Magase and stop her plan). The core argument is no longer about if suicide is right or wrong, but what is the nature of good and evil.
After an entire episode of pseudo-intellectual conversation, their summit is interrupted by the current mayor of Shiniki, asking the president of the united states to talk to a girl who is unsure if she wants to die, and may throw herself from a building, Presumably, this is Magase in disguise, but the president talks to her anyway and convinces her to wait until he finds an answer himself saying 'If I determine suicide is moral, I'll kill myself too' and the girl laughs and agrees to wait. Mind you, this is all happening on national television.
Just after this, he finally realizes 'Good means to continue' and 'Evil means to end', and immediately gets back online to tell her. It's Magase, and her words convince the president to kill himself. Now, Zen was only just given a Gun as an FBI agent after convincing the president to make an exception and allow him to officially join, this is important.
Zen chases the president to the roof, realizing the president is about to kill himself as reporters watch from the sky, if he does this the suicide law will be justified by the president's own statements earlier, and likely go into effect worldwide. Knowing this is the case, rather than allow the president to kill himself, he makes it look like assassination and Zen shoots the president on national TV, presumably ending the spread of the Suicide Law.
After this, he faces Magase, who is behind him out of the eye of the cameras, and points the gun at Magase. He too came to the conclusion the president did about good and evil and still points the gun at Magase and she tells him he is now bad. See, ending things is evil, and if he fires the gun to end Magase, who is evil, that also makes him evil. So to end evil is evil. She points her fingers at him like a gun and goes 'Bang' while you here an actual gunfire, though the result is never shown (Even if after the credits you see Magase still alive).
She orchestrated all these events only to stop her suicide law, and to prove some kind of a point. But here is the thing, Zen is the only guy alive who knows about Magase at this point, at least assuming he's still alive, and he's now going to be locked away or executed for assassinating the president on live television. This was all according to the plan of Magase, meaning she wasn't trying to prove something to the world, she was just trying to prove something to either Magase or the viewer of the show. Meaning in the context of the anime, all of this happened just to fuck with this one guy, because the world is right back to how it was before with no suicide law, only now there are a lot more dead people.
So many things had to happen, so many people who didn't have direct contact with Magase had to act in such specific ways to have arrived at this point. I gave Bleach shit back in the day for Aizen's plans being incredibly convoluted to the point that there was no way it was ever going to happen, but this is an entirely new level of bullshit. And worse yet, I still don't know what the point Magase was trying to prove all along even was, or what the whole bit about her wanting to be a hero (Despite admitting to being evil) even was.
There is a part of me that is wondering if I am just missing something crucial to the story if I am missing something fundamental to putting all of this together. Because if I'm not, this may be the absolute stupidest anime I've ever seen in my life. It is constantly trying to be deep while saying nothing of any real substance, the idea it's a dialogue on suicide falls flat when all the suicide that happens is entirely unnatural and forced on people by the Whore of Babylon. There are times it even feels like we've hid David Cage levels of not understanding how people would act in certain situations.
All that said, I kind of love this show. It's almost like this an unintentional Dark Comedy, and the joke doesn't set in until you reach the eleventh episode. I don't think any of this was supposed to be funny, but by that point of this show I was laughing my ass off. If this is all a misunderstanding on my part, I kind of don't want to know if I'm wrong because of how much I enjoyed this train wreck of a show.
If you've ever seen Babylon, or watch it, please explain to me if I'm missing something, because I still am not sure if it's me or this show that is completely out of their mind. As it stands, I think I”m going the Bill Hicks on Basic Instinct route for this one.
