  1. 🎬 Blue Box Anime Review – Sports, Love and Growth@psyberkid433d

    psyberkid(1).png

Hello everyone, Hope your doing well and having wonderful time. Today I want to share a review of romance sports anime name Blue Box.

    Story Summery

Blue Box begins at Yumesaki High School where sports are highly valued. Taiki Inomata is a sincere and determined student with a calm heart. Taiki secretly has a crush on Chinatsu Kano, a talented athlete at their school. While Taiki plays badminton, Chinatsu excels at basketball and is considered a strong contender for the national team.

Taiki's ordinary days take a dramatic turn when he decides to pursue his dream of competing at the national level. Around the same time, Chinatsu's family moves abroad for personal reasons. However, he stays in Japan to continue his studies and pursue his dream of becoming a national-level basketball player. Coincidentally, he starts living with a relative who is a member of Taiki's family.

Now living under the same roof, Taiki struggles to control his emotions. Despite his growing feelings for Chinatsu, he fears that confession could ruin their budding friendship. Instead, she tries to prove herself through hard work and dedication, hoping to be worthy of it.

Chinatsu is also focused on her goal. The challenges of her past make her stronger. As they support each other from closeness, a beautiful friendship blossoms, gradually growing into something deeper. The first season ends on this delicate emotion, making us eager to see what happens next.

    My Review

Blue Box is an inspiring mix of sports and romance. It tells the story of two young athletes, Taiki and Chinatsu, who are driven by ambition but challenged by the emerging feeling of love. What sets this anime apart is its emotional depth and realistic pace.

Taiki's quiet dedication is touching. He is not just chasing success for his own sake but also trying to be someone worthy of Chinatsu's attention. The anime beautifully depicts how love can be both a distraction and a motivation.

The characters are beautifully developed, the animation is clear and expressive, and the sound design perfectly captures the mood. This is not just a sports anime, it is a groundbreaking story about growing connections and unspoken feelings. Blue Box captures those silent moments that speak volumes and remind us how dreams and emotions often intertwine. I really enjoyed this anime.

Thanks you so much for reading. See you next :)

Hello, friends of the @theanimerealm community. I hope you are all doing well. I am very happy to be part of this space dedicated exclusively to anime.

Until now, I had only shared content about skateboarding on Hive, but due to my job, I have not been able to continue uploading my videos with the same frequency. However, I think that this community gives me the perfect opportunity to resume creating content, this time focusing on one of my great passions, anime.

After the work day, there is nothing better than enjoying a good cup of coffee and sitting in front of the laptop to write reviews about the anime I have had the opportunity to watch. So I hope to be here frequently, sharing recommendations and opinions that, I am sure, many will enjoy.

When we talk about comedy in anime, it's impossible not to mention "Grand Blue." Adapted from the manga Grand Blue Dreaming by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka, this 2018 anime, produced by Zero-G, immerses us (literally) in a college story that mixes diving, alcohol, and absurd humor at its finest.

If you're looking for a series full of epic moments, crazy characters, and endless ridiculously funny situations, Grand Blue is a gem you can't ignore.

The story follows Iori Kitahara, a young man who moves to the coastal city of Izu to begin his new college life at Izu University. His uncle owns the Grand Blue Diving Shop, where Iori plans to stay while studying. Everything seems to indicate that he will have a calm, sea-focused college experience… until he meets the members of the Peek a Boo Diving Club.

What follows is a series of events that defy all logic, alcohol in industrial quantities, absurd competitions, friendships born from chaos, and, at some point, some diving. Iori finds himself dragged along by his senpais Ryuujirou Kotobuki and Shinji Tokita, two muscled gorillas whose only mission in life seems to be to drink themselves silly. His partner in misadventures is Kouhei Imamura, a hardcore otaku who quickly becomes his best friend and his greatest rival in the stupidest fights imaginable.

And yes, although the anime is an ode to madness, from time to time it reminds us that diving is also part of the plot, giving us spectacular scenes of the ocean and transmitting the feeling of peace that this sport offers.

Lo que mas me gusto / What I liked the most

Grand Blue's strong point is, without a doubt, its comedy. This anime isn't afraid to go over the top with its jokes, and it does so in a masterful way. From exaggerated facial expressions to the most absurd misunderstandings, every episode has moments that will make you cry from laughter.

Iori and Kouhei have one of the best friends/rivals dynamics I've seen in anime. Their interactions are pure comedic gold, especially when they compete over important things like who looks the coolest or who's the least virginal. The senpais, Kotobuki and Tokita, take the craziness to another level with their obsession with alcohol and nudity, while characters like Chisa Kotegawa and Aina Yoshiwara bring a (minimal) balance of sanity to the story.

Even though diving isn't the main focus, the few scenes that do include it are very well animated and convey an incredible sense of calm. It's a brutal point with the chaos of the rest of the anime, and that makes it even more special

¿Recomiendo GRAND BLUE? / Do I recommend GRAND BLUE?

¡Definitivamente!

    Veredicto final: 9 - 10 / Final verdict: 9 - 10

While the plot doesn't move much forward and the diving takes a backseat, Grand Blue's comedy is so incredibly good that those flaws fade into the background. If you watch it with the right mindset (accepting that it's crazy from start to finish), you're in for one of the funniest animes out there.

  3. Grand Blue Live Action Movie Review@adamada1999d

I knew about this a few weeks ago from a random YT recommendation. This was released around summer 2020. I watched the anime and made a review about it before. You can check that previous post here. I can’t help but be impressed with how much the live action delivered fan expectations so well. I haven’t read the source manga material for this. The review will only cover the anime and live action adaptation differences.

I couldn't find the official YT channel this trailer was released from but there are a lot of other YT users that reuploaded the trailer. Turn on the subs for a bit of context but even that won't really help much as you're entering a weird place.

    YT Channel Source: Tian Channel

If this trailer doesn’t make any sense, then I can understand you perfectly. It made sense to me because I saw the anime but for viewers going in blind, you can still enjoy the film as a stand-alone. Whether you watch the live action or anime first, it won’t spoil you much because both mediums have created spin-off versions on some scenes within the story but still nailed it right.

    Plot:

Iori Kitahara comes back to town after 10 years to start a new life as a freshman at Izu University while living under his uncle’s roof. His uncle happens to own a diving shop as a family business. Upon entering the establishment for the first time, he meets the local diving club during their regular club meetings (a.k.a. drinking party) and gets himself forcefully drawn into their shenanigans. From there, the show begins to show his journey in exploring the wonders of seeing the ocean.

I read my previous review and it tells a lot of difference in perspective when watching the story again in a different medium. I think I was too critical about the anime when I was supposed to lower the bar of expectations. I also forgot most of the scenes in the anime because it was years ago since I last watched it. But some of the scenes were iconic enough that I can immediately recognize the live action nailing it so well.

They have a catchy theme song for Vamos.

    YT Channel Source: Syafuan Sarif

I won’t be spoiling the specific details of the changes made in the live action. But I will tell you that even after making more than half of the show different from the anime just made it better. I view the live action as a spin off or a parallel world of events from the anime while still capturing the essence of what makes the story great as a comedy.

It has drawn it a lot of references from the pop culture anime with its skits. There are some scenes that only a live action can pull off especially trying to portray masculine energy and brotherhood. Seeing half naked men dancing to the beat like a haka in anime isn’t as wild as seeing the real deal. It takes a lot of straight face to even get the choreography for the sake of delivering humor.

I can tell you that the live action really nailed the feelings of camaraderie, brotherhood, and just having a good time while you’re young. These feelings didn’t exactly left a strong impression on me when I look back on my anime view time. I guess it’s either a mixed of life perspective now and having to do with the medium of delivering the message across the audience. Grand Blue, while mostly about comedy, has surprisingly a lot of subtle lessons to show between calm moments.

Listening to the theme song of the anime brings me some nostalgia years back. It still gives me a sense of upbeat even that left a fun impression from the show.

    YT Channel Source:

Whichever you watch first (anime or live action), you’ll never be totally spoiled because there are a lot of changes when it comes to delivering the punch lines. As for the story pacing, 1/3 of the show especially at the beginning is spent on setting the comical mood while it slowly transitions to a slightly more serious tone as you go along. The latter parts are spent introducing characters, character building, and maintaining the comical energy the show was known for.

I’d recommend this movie for watching with a group of friends drinking along. That setting would help you get closer to the show's atmosphere. There’s plenty of meme potential here. I’d also suggest you watch the anime too because it’s another separate experience form the live action to better make some comparisons.

  4. Grand Blue Anime Review@adamada2835d
It was by accident that I came across this anime while venturing into sports genre. It had a comedy label to it while the plot explicitly mentions “diving”. I’m gonna give you a heads up that there are going to be spoilers on this review. But I have to ascertain what plot points I will be spoiling since the show doesn’t have any.

    Summary of the Post:

The Plot Characters Execution of the Story Overall Impression Sourced Images Footer

    The Plot:

Iori Kitahara comes back to town after 10 years to start a new life as a freshman at Izu University while living under his uncle’s roof. His uncle happens to own a diving shop as a family business. Upon entering the establishment for the first time, he meets the local diving club during their regular club meetings (a.k.a. drinking party) and gets himself forcefully drawn into their shenanigans. From there, the show begins to show his journey in exploring the wonders of seeing the ocean.

I actually found it hard to further expound the plot beyond that one paragraph.

    Characters:

I wouldn’t talk about each character in detail for two specific reasons. One, they behave like your standard archetypes in anime so there is no need to second guess their motives or their perspectives in the show. Two, I have trouble finding deciding whether there are even characters worthy to be mentioned by this distinction or not.

The main character follows your regular observer drawn into the flow of events by accident or forced into the plot. Iori Kitahara participates in the diving club’s activities and his interaction with other characters in the show have something to do with the club’s endeavors. But that’s all there is to it. There’s not much to go on from this protagonist because his motivations for doing things are too simple and congruent to where the episode’s plot is supposed to be heading.

When I evaluate how important a character is to the show, I would review how much impact their presence or loss in the show would be if they decide to go the other way. The audience is shown in the beginning of the MC’s unwillingness to join the diving club and yet we are shown absurd circumstances where the MC just obeys the flow in the end. If there was resistance to this change, it only took a light nudge to get the MC to get into diving for the show to be on track.

The story could still exist without the MC. It’s not the MC has little impact on the outcome of the show but it’s how the supporting characters can carry the show without the MC. Each character can be moved by other characters into the main direction and the story could still go on. The plot was mentions Iori being introduced into diving and developing that love for exploring the ocean.

Did I mention that the supporting characters of the show just behave like your standard anime archetypes? This show will not disappoint you when you expected that.It has your standard tsundere, otaku, and straight man archetypes to interact with the MC.

    Execution of the Story:

The show isn’t as bad as how I painted it to be on the character section. I often forget that I am watching a “comedy” genre (not a genre I’m used to). So it can’t be helped if I’m a bit hard on how the show carries itself. Grand Blue lives up to it’s genre as a comedy anime. Even if it mentioned teaching the MC how to dive, the show does a good job not taking it seriously.

You start each episode with a good mood and end it with a good mood. It’s the type of show you can just watch to pass the time and each episode offers no cliff hangers. No mystery, no tragic backstory for any character, or any moments where you have to take it seriously. It was near the 10th episode when I noticed they started to take the diving lesson into consideration for the audience.

But you can expect that any serious lesson given will be followed up with a slapstick comedy scene to remind the audience that the show is still a comedy anime that happens to have diving an extra element to the plot.

Beer Drinking > Random Slice of Life Moments > Diving

You can expect this show to be full of facial expressions referenced from other shows like Attack on Titan.

    Overall Impression:

The show could end in less than 6 episodes or less if it were focused on learning how to dive. The bulk of the show are filler scenes before the real ocean diving adventure takes place. You know what? It doesn’t matter, it’s comedy and you’re supposed to enjoy the lack of adherence to the plot and let events unfold on their own.

There are moments in the show where you just couldn’t predict the punchline and you end up appreciating the novelty behind the execution. I could say it’s not a total waste of time to watch if you want something light on the feels.

It’s something I’d still recommend watching for anyone exploring the comedy genre.

  22. Grand Blue Dreaming Anime Briefly Listed by AnimeJapan@sangjin3099d

Manga about college students' seaside antics launched in 2014

The official website for the AnimeJapan 2018 convention updated on Friday with a list of the event's exhibitors and their works. According to the list, Avex Pictures would introduce a number of works, including a "new Grand Blue anime." The website no longer lists featured works for Avex Pictures, and Avex Pictures has yet to announce a Grand Blue anime.

Kodansha Comics publishes Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka's Grand Blue Dreaming (Grand Blue) manga in English digitally, and it describes the story:

After moving out on his own to a seaside town, Iori Kitahara makes a college debut he never anticipated. A new chapter of his life unfolds, full of diving with beautiful girls and shenanigans with a gaggle of lovable bastards! Idiot-expert Kenji Inoue and au naturel authority Kimitake Yoshioka bring you a glorious college tale filled with booze-fueled antics!

noue and Yoshioka launched the manga in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine in April 2014. Kodansha published the manga's ninth volume on October 6. The manga marks the first time Inoue is authoring an original manga work.

The manga was nominated in the Best General Manga category at Kodansha's 41st annual Manga Awards last year.
