Hillbilly Elegy is a 2020 American biographical drama film directed by Ron Howard from a screenplay by Vanessa Taylor, based on the 2016 memoir of the same name by future Vice President JD Vance. The film stars Amy Adams and Glenn Close, with Gabriel Basso, Haley Bennett, Freida Pinto, Bo Hopkins in his final film appearance, and Owen Asztalos starring in supporting roles.

Hillbilly Elegy made me feel emotional, so it was a surprise to open up so many angry reviews which further compelled me to search for J.D Vance’s twitter handle, the writer of the memoir from which this film was adapted from. I had actually forgotten that I had read the book that this film is based on quite a few years ago and h I don't have a great deal of faith in Netflix films these days I got about 10 minutes into this one before I realized exactly where the story was going and remembered how it is just such a wonderful TRUE story of triumph for an individual who grows up in an environment where no one is meant to succeed. src Withou…More
