Yet another old review I made, and this time, I talk about the black comedy horror film, Horns, starring Daniel Radcliffe as Ig, which was shown four years ago when I was a twenty-two -year-old. If you don't want to hear about my whole failed Guildhall audition experience in London, please skip to 2:43 for the main review.

To begin, in full disclosure, I need to let you know that my friend, Alex Zahara, has a role in this film and, as such, I was somewhat reticent about writing about this one. His role amounts to more of a cameo though, so I've decided to just go ahead with it, insert silly grin here.

Fortunately, I enjoyed this film even though it doesn't quite work. Horns is about a character named Ig, who inexplicably sprouts horns on his head, sometime after his girlfriend was murdered shortly after she broke up with him the night he planned to ask her to marry him. Everyone is convinced he did it, however, and the sudden appearance of the horns don't help his cause.

The horns create some unusual activity though. People around him suddenly, unconsciously, feel compelled to confess their sins, their darkest secrets and fantasies, and, sometimes, acting them out. Ig decides to use this to help him find his girlfriend's murderer, despite the fact he is disgusted by this stuff happening.

I won't spoil the origins of the horns or the twists in the story but I was torn. It was entertaining but something didn't quite work and I can't figure out what it was.

Ig is played by Daniel Radcliffe, Horns was his first big breakaway from his Harry Potter past and he is becoming a talented actor. It was a strong performance, if a little one note.

It is worth checking out. Enjoy.
