Now, here is A WESTERN! These movies remind me of those times that my dad sat down to watch movies with me and my brothers and instead of paying attention he told us that in a past life he had been “the fastest gunman on the west” and that he killed 100 bandits in 10 seconds (ha ha ha ha). This movie caught me after watching his trailer and cast, so I decided to give it a try and I was glad to do it. # HOSTILES Fuen…More

The Westerns fascinate me and when I found out that Christian Bale would star in one I immediately wrote it down to my list, after a while its time come, so yesterday I decided to take a look. > > Source Year: 2017 Category: Western. Director: Scott Cooper. Cast: Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike, Wes Studi, Jesse Plemons, Adam Beach, Rory Cochrane, Ben Foster. # Plot In 1892 Captain Joseph J. Blocker is charged with es…More
Hostiles is another in a line of revisionist westerns to come out in recent years, where instead of straight good guys and bad guys, the movie tries to present a nuanced view of right and wrong against the backdrop of years of back-and forth violence between settlers, Natives and the US army. Set in 1892, the film stars Christian Bale as Blocker, a grizzly veteran of the Indian Wars who has lost a lot of men and bea…More
▬…More
A strong man knows how to forgive. Captain Blocker gave service in the army himself and never afraid to carry out complex orders. Harsh fighter made some dangerous attacks, but the ghosts of a past event and then catch it and force you to think about the past. Knowing that it's time to retire, the captain reaches an understanding with the command, but before that he needs to complete the last order and deliver a ser…More
This is my entry for the movie review contest organized by @monajam. You can find the contest here Christian Bale as Captain Joseph J. Blocker Hostiles is a brutal display that leaves the audience in a shallow grave and perhaps better off since you can finally find peace from the end cycle of the cruelty of the old West. I think this line from the movie sums it up perfectly. > "Sometimes I envy the finality of death…More
Enmity and violence *Some time ago, critics claimed that the genre of the western had died, and one should not dig a corpse for the sake of momentary profit. They, as always, were mistaken. The patient simply was in a coma, and now gives clear signs of life. Remake of "The Magnificent Seven" by Antoine Fukua and "The Hateful Eight" by Quentin Tarantino - these are only the loudest of the prime-ministers of recent ti…More
It seems a bit strange to me that *Hostiles* has not had a trailer in the theaters, given the viral advertising campaign on television. I have seen this trailer several times per day for the past few weeks. With glowing recommendations like "stunning" (and an engaging trailer), I had high expectations. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed, although I liked the film enough to recommend it. I was expecting *Hostiles…More
I am not sure about this one. It does have Christian Bale and the plot looks kind of interesting. But I am not sure if it will be good or not.More
