Hotel Mumbai

I decided to watch Hotel Mumbai because it was based on a real-life event, and I wanted to see how the story was portrayed. After watching it, I understood why the movie received so much attention. It was intense, emotional and, at some points, very difficult to watch.

The movie was based on the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India. Most of the story took place inside the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, where guests and workers suddenly found themselves trapped when the attackers entered the hotel.

Dev Patel (Arjun) a young waiter who was working at the hotel that day. He had a wife and child waiting for him at home, but when the attack started, he stayed behind and tried to help the guests. He was clearly scared, but he kept putting other people's safety ahead of his own.

Another important part of the story was Zahra Kashani (Nazanin Boniadi) and her husband David (Armie Hammer). They were wealthy guests staying at the hotel with their baby and nanny. At first, they were enjoying their stay without knowing that anything terrible was about to happen.

Everything changed when the attackers entered the hotel.

Zahra and David had to hide with other guests while trying to keep their baby safe. Their situation made the movie even more emotional because they were not only thinking about their own survival but also trying to protect their child.

There was also Sally, their nanny, who became an important part of their story. The characters had different backgrounds and different ways of reacting to the situation, but they all found themselves facing the same danger.

What stood out to me was how the movie showed the bravery of the hotel workers. Arjun and the other staff members could have tried to save themselves, but many of them stayed with the guests and helped them find places to hide.

The movie was very tense because there were several moments when I thought the characters were finally safe, only for another danger to appear. The sounds of gunshots, explosions and people running through the hotel made the whole situation feel frighteningly real.

I also liked that the movie did not make Arjun look like a superhero. He was an ordinary man who was frightened and wanted to go home to his family, but he still found the courage to help people around him.

Zahra's story also made the movie emotional for me. Watching her try to protect her baby while being trapped in the hotel was heartbreaking. David also had to make difficult decisions while trying to find a way to keep his family alive.

The movie showed different kinds of courage. Some people fought to protect others, some stayed calm for their families, while others simply tried to survive one moment at a time.

One thing I appreciated was that the movie focused more on the people caught in the tragedy rather than making the attackers the centre of the story. We saw the fear, confusion and desperation of ordinary people who had suddenly found themselves in a terrible situation.

Hotel Mumbai was a very emotional and intense movie. It was not the type of movie I could watch casually because the story was based on something that actually happened. Knowing that made some of the scenes even harder to watch.

The performances were also good, especially Arjun and Zahra. Their characters made the story feel personal rather than just another action movie.

Overall, I thought Hotel Mumbai was a powerful survival movie. It showed fear, loss, bravery and the lengths people could go to protect others during a terrible situation.
