  1. Howard the Duck (1986) - Review [English - Turkish)@cute-cactus1483d

There are hundreds, perhaps many more, movies that feature the invasion of Earth by aliens. Although each of them has a different story, fiction and narration, there is a world in the middle and the villains are always aliens. This idea took hold of a certain period in the 1980s and beyond and continued for a while.

The main subject of the action, adventure, comedy movie named Howard the Duck is about the aliens I mentioned invading the world. Of course, when it comes to such an interplanetary invasion, there is always a hero to save the world. It's there again, but this time it's a humanoid duck that saves the world!

Howard the Duck isimli aksiyon, macera, komedi türündeki filmdeki ana konu bahsettiğim uzaylıların dünyayı istila etmesini anlatıyor.

The fun and fast-paced movie doesn't start with an invasion. Although the main theme is the invasion of the world, the invasion becomes the subject of the movie later on, because the movie begins with a mandatory visit.

The humanoid duck finds himself in the world with his chair suddenly starting to shake and move while sitting in an armchair in the living room of his home on the duck planet. This is where the adventure begins.

İnsanımsı ördek, ördek gezegenindeki evinin oturma odasında bir koltukta otururken birden titremeye ve hareket etmeye başlayan koltuğuyla birlikte kendini dünyada buluyor. İşte macerada burada başlıyor.

The duck, which has a petite appearance, manages to be the center of attention with its walking, tail and feathers. The foot movements while running exactly mirror the duck's gait. As a matter of fact, it gives the movie a different feel and has a very funny look. Although it takes on some of the characteristics of a real duck, the duck in the movie resembles a human in its speech, use of hands and clothing. Having a very sympathetic appearance brings the comedy aspect to the fore.

While watching, the condom coming out of the duck's wallet is an interesting detail, but it was memorable as a smiley snapshot. Just as he got over the shock of this, the fact that the duck couldn't swim was both another detail and a funny one.

For a long time, I hadn't seen a movie from world cinema from pre-1990. Howard the Duck movie made me lose this feature and I'm glad I watched it. I had the chance to see the sincerity in the roles of those times again. The low-cut dresses in the movie were a small detail reminiscent of those times. It can be thought that there are exaggerated scenes because it is a comedy film, but it did not spoil the course of the film because it did not go to extremes.

The fact that they turned the theory of evolution into duck evolution in the scene where Darwin's theory of evolution is referred can be interpreted as a mockery of the theory of evolution. Since it is an open-ended scene, I don't want to comment on it, but it doesn't bother me that such subjects are handled or deliberately ridiculed in movies because it is important to watch the movie through the eyes of a movie.

Darwin'in evrim teorisine atıfta bulunulan sahnede evrim teorisini ördek evrimine dönüştürmeleri, gerçekte evrim teorisiyle alay edilmesi olarak yorumlanabilir.

Our preferences consist of the moments that we make or do not take the decisions that direct the flow of our lives. Such is the case with Howard the Duck. Back to the duck planet? Continuing to live with people? You can find the answers to the questions in the movie Howard the Duck, which I recommend you to watch.

Tercihlerimiz, hayatımızın akışına yön veren kararları aldığımız veya almadığımız anlardan ibarettir. Ördek Howard içinde durum böyle oluyor. Ördek gezegenine geri dönmek mi? İnsanlarla birlikte yaşamaya devam etmek mi? Soruların yanıtını, izlemenizi tavsiye edeceğim Howard the Duck filminin içinde bulabilirsiniz.

This movie reminded me to rewatch old movies that I neglected. I remembered once again that there were differences between the roles played by the actors when technology was not that advanced and the roles they have today. I need to watch more old movies so I can get into clearer discourses on exactly what the differences are.

  2. Howard, El Pato / Howard, The Duck (1986): Movie Review@miguelpeliculas1743d

I really have mixed feelings with this film, because at times it confused me too much, thanks to the fact that it seems like a children's movie for everything that refers to the plot and the message it tries to give, but scenes with a clear sexual tinge, many references and language not suitable for children. This is one of the reasons why I did not like it, since it is very difficult to define it, not for nothing does it have a Razzie award.

On the other hand, if he spoke about the general idea of the film, I have to say that it is very good, because an anthropomorphic duck that comes to earth from another dimension or from a distant planet, where everything is equal is equal to our civilization, but These descended from ducks and not from monkeys. This makes arriving on Earth a phenomenon, so you must first find your place in our civilization, and then try to return to your planet.

The movie was directed by Willard Huyck and produced by George Lucas, right after the Star Wars movies came out, which is why many movie lovers have this movie as the producer's biggest mistake. As for the performances, they weren't bad at all, but absolutely no one would dare to say that they were good, partly because of the characters' decisions, which were very silly, like when they decide to go to a restaurant like fusion sushi, after of being chased by the city police and not fleeing after realizing that Jenin had been possessed.

The script also had its ups and downs, in the first part of the film many of Howard's dialogues were funny when comparing aspects of his home planet with Earth, but as the minutes passed, they became more cliché, predictable and boring, I also had this feeling with The Lord of Darkness. The rest of the script seemed silly, meaningless or lacking in humor, so it was difficult for me to get positive things.

In conclusion, it is a pretty crappy movie, if I'm completely honest, a lot of the original elements of this hero were replaced in order to use the magic of George Lucas's special effects, so things like demonic possession do not make sense. . Certain special effects were well done thinking of the time, but still most don't impress, burying this tape even more.

  3. Insomniac Movie Marathon: Howard the Duck@rvgenaille2516d

Howard the Duck is the type of movie that sit somewhere in the back your brain, just sort of resting there taking up space and you have no idea why. It came out in 1986, presented by George Lucas and you can tell that there was a lot of money spent to make this look as good as possible for the time. What that seems to indicate, as with Willow and The Radioland Murders, was that Lucas was using a lot of what he produced during this time to test new visual effects. At least that’s my impression.

Howard the Duck tells the story of Howard, a duck, who is ripped from his planet and dragged to Earth, where he meets a young woman named Beverley, played by Lea Thompson, who attempts to help him get home. Tim Robbins is also here. As is Jeffrey Jones as the bad guy.

The movie is really not very good. It’s story is not well constructed, some of the dialogue is very bad, and it is, at just under two hours, way too long. Thompson and Robbins are over acting for the most part, as is Jones.

On the good side, some of that overacting works for the show. The animatronics on Howard’s face are really good and he did have some good one liners.

That isn’t enough to save this movie though. I, for some reason, had some fun memories about it but they’re long gone now. This was hard to watch.

I can’t recommend it, at all, unless you are interested in what kind of technological stuff Lucas was working on at the time.
