What's up community? I hope you are all well and are enjoying this month, which is the most beautiful of the year, today I come to review an anime movie that really is very different from everything I've reviewed so far. It is Interestella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5system, it is a French-Japanese movie that is basically an animated sequence of the album Discovery by Daft Punk.

Espero que todos se encuentren muy bien y esten disfrutando este mes, que es el mas bonito del año, hoy vengo a hacer reseña de una película de anime que la verdad es muy diferente a todo lo que he reseñado hasta ahora. Se trata de Interestella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, es una película francojaponesa que básicamente es una secuencia animada del álbum Discovery de Daft Punk.
This movie was originally released in 2003, but, at least in Colombia a remastered version was trained for theaters with a single screening per day for 3 days in some specific theaters and, although I had already seen it previously with my partner, he is a big fan of Daft Punk and was not going to miss the opportunity to see it in the theater (which was completely worth it, and I say this as someone who occasionally enjoys some Daft Punk). As I said, the movie is the visualization of the Discovery album, but, that's only on the surface, although it doesn't feature any dialogue, you can clearly see what the movie is about and, the legendary Leiji Matsumoto was the graphic supervisor.
Esta película fue originalmente estrenada en 2003, pero, al menos en Colombia fue entrenada una versión remasterizada para cines con una única función al día por 3 días en algunos cines en especifico y, aunque yo ya la había visto anteriormente junto a mi pareja, el es muy fan de Daft Punk y no iba a perder la oportunidad de verla en el cine (cosa que valió completamente la pena, y lo digo como alguien que disfruta ocasionalmente algo de Daft Punk). Como dije, la película es la visualización del álbum Discovery, pero, eso es solo en la superficie, aunque no cuenta con ningún diálogo, se puede ver claramente de que va la película y, el legendario Leiji Matsumoto fue el supervisor gráfico.
The film narrates the kidnapping, rescue and return of an alien band, who were kidnapped by someone heavy in the music industry who, as can be seen in the film, is used to kidnap good musicians from other planets and take them to earth. This character completely manipulates the appearance and personality of the artist, he has them as zombies, manipulates their memories and when they are no longer useful, he discards them as simple things. I really think this movie is quite an experience and is quite deep if you pay attention to it, all this with Daft Punk music in the background.
La película narra el secuestro, rescate y regreso de una banda alienígena, los cuales fueron secuestrados por alguien pesado de la industria musical que, según se puede ver en la película, está acostumbrado a secuestrar buenos músicos de otros planetas y llevarlos a la tierra. La verdad creo que esta película es toda una experiencia y es bastante profunda si le prestas atención, todo esto con música de Daft Punk de fondo.
I really don't know where you can see the movie (legally), as I mentioned before, just yesterday I went to see it at the cinema (not to brag), but I really recommend it, and I really don't think you need to be a Daft Punk fan to enjoy it and understand it. Realmente desconozco donde se puede ver la película (legalmente), como mencioné anteriormente, justo ayer la fui a ver al cine (no es por presumir), pero realmente la recomiendo, y la verdad no creo necesario tener que ser fan de Daft Punk para poder disfrutarla y entenderla. Interstellar 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, it's the name of a single film that was produced and made by Daft Punk and Kazuhisa Takenouchi, it was the brainstorm of three people that had the sole intention to present a musical experience to a new generation that would open their minds and ears to a new world, and for me, it changed my perspective on music as an art.
This film was launched when I was only a 10-year-old kid, back then, I refused to listen to any non-rock or non-classic music songs, but I did see anime, and when MTV had some video clips of it as songs play time and time again in the early mornings before going to school, heck, I could not stop my self from watching it.
It felt different, it had the synthesizers and also had electric guitars, it had spirit and yet it was filled with that "fake music" I had been taught to ignore. It changed my whole world and made me a big fan of music as it is, to love each kind of music for what they can give to us, and today I'm gonna talk about it with you, as this is less of a film, and more of a music exaltation.
I will start with the initial launch for me, MTV in 2003, memories of a simple childhood that was somewhat protected inside a cultural bubble, old brother was a heavy metal rock head, my middle brother was an alt-rocker, parents had that kind of classic music vibe, I was the only one that was discovering its tastes, and them one video started playing, One more time of Daft Punk, album Discovery, yet it was an anime with a story.
The song had all that catch vibe that kept it lingering on while I was in school, while people in my classroom lib sing N sync and Backstreet Boys, and I found myself remembering the lyrics of one more time long after I saw it, and took me a while for me to give in into the music and search it on yahoo, yeah, YAHOO, when that was a thing, does anyone remember it?
It was a big shock to me to find out that there was a full film made out of these animations, and it was made by a real-life band, not some shady company, but by Daft Punk, who had a great album released years before the film and where the film took root.
That derailed me from rock and classic sounds into a more wide arena, I discovered House music and took my time with electronic, My space was beginning, and most profiles had some sort of music thingy going, so it was not hard to find the songs online, yet it felt wrong.
It took some time convincing my middle brother, but after a while, he did buy me an album by Daft Punk, and my god what an ear-opening it was, as I soon realized I loved all house music for the spirit it had, rather than lyrics and presence of a singer, the voice was just another instrument.
For me this part of my life was only starting, because It took me one whole year to finally get my hands on a DVD version of the film, it lasted only one hour and when I finally got the chance to see it completed in a single run unlike with the MTV clips, things changed radically.
This film changed my perspective on music and art in general, it embroiled itself into my childlike imagination in ways that are hard to explain, because for most people Music and Culture have a severe impact on their personalities but are mostly blind to those influences.
Most people never look closely at the importance of music in life, and even less at the influence it has on our creativity and spirit, yet this film ending points out that for the viewer in the simplest way I have ever seen.
The whole film is but a dream of a child that was playing with the Daft Punk memorabilia, this message as simple as it is and as a cliché, as it sounds explains that only through dreams we can touch our favorite arts and get to know ourselves more, and it is this focus on childhood that makes me relive it now as a parent.
These childhood dreams are what I would like you to remember the most in this post, as we often avoid looking at our muse and inspiration as something born out of a specific time of our lives, but in most cases, it was our childhood influences that mark our way into life and seeing this film addressing it from the perspective of Daft Punk it makes me wonder about my influences.
From the perspective of the band, they had their childhood experiences so vivid that even when they chose to work with Kazuhisa Takenouchi, it was made based on those experiences, as it was HIM, and his art that influenced them to do the music they did, or so Daft Punk claimed.
One thing MTV never transmitted was the very beginning of the film where we see Daft Punk and Kazuhisa Takenouchi talking in a black and white recording, about how musicians are magicians, and they build a life out of dreams.
Something that now I find so meaningful and true, as music is the only art that can transmit feelings and stories with no letters and no words, songs are just ideas and dreams, something that I would like to point out as this film has not a single word on the whole duration of it, and it is all transmitted thought a disk jokey mixing device, as the magic that music is.
Interstellar 5555 had a story a simple yet kind dreamlike story, where everything felt like a breath of life and music, where you were seeing childlike experiences in the form of a song, and it was those feelings that were transmitted through film and songs that I want to share with you today.
If you haven't seen it, go and watch it, and if you love it as I do, listen to the discovery album, there is no loss in opening yourself to new experiences, so let me share this one with you as I dip my creativity into my core inspirations and try to reshape my current self in someone better.

Esta película se lanzó cuando yo era sólo un niño de 10 años, por aquel entonces me negaba a escuchar cualquier canción que no fuera rock o música no clásica, pero sí veía anime, y cuando la MTV tenía algunos videoclips con él como canciones que sonaban una y otra vez por las mañanas antes de ir al colegio, diablos, no podía dejar de verlo.
Me parecía diferente, tenía sintetizadores y también guitarras eléctricas, tenía espíritu y, sin embargo, estaba llena de esa "música falsa" que me habían enseñado a ignorar. Cambió todo mi mundo y me convirtió en un gran fan de la música tal y como es, de amar cada tipo de música por lo que pueden darnos, y hoy voy a hablar de ello con ustedes, ya que esto es menos una película y más una exaltación de la música como arte.

Esta película cambió mi perspectiva sobre la música y el arte en general, se enredó en mi imaginación infantil de un modo difícil de explicar, porque para la mayoría de la gente la música y la cultura tienen un fuerte impacto en sus personalidades, pero en su mayoría son ciegos a esas influencias.
La mayoría de nosotros nunca se fija en la importancia de la música en la vida, y menos aún en la influencia que tiene en nuestra creatividad y espíritu, y sin embargo este final de película se lo señala al espectador de la forma más sencilla que he visto nunca.
Toda la película no es más que el sueño de un niño que jugaba con los juguetes de Daft Punk, este mensaje tan simple y tan cliché como suena, explica que solo a través de los sueños podemos tocar nuestras artes favoritas y conocernos más a nosotros mismos y es este enfoque en la infancia lo que me hace revivirla ahora como padre.
Estos sueños de infancia son los que más me gustaría que recordaras de este post, ya que muchas veces evitamos mirar a nuestra musa e inspiración como algo nacido de un momento concreto de nuestras vidas, pero en la mayoría de los casos, fueron nuestras influencias infantiles las que marcaron nuestro camino en la vida y al ver esta película abordándola desde la perspectiva de Daft Punk me hace preguntarme sobre mis influencias.

Desde la perspectiva de la banda, las experiencias de su infancia fueron tan vívidas que incluso cuando eligieron trabajar con Kazuhisa Takenouchi, lo hicieron basándose en esas experiencias, ya que fue ÉL y su arte, lo que les influyó para hacer la música que hicieron, o eso afirmaba Daft Punk.

Interstellar 5555 tenía una historia, una simple pero amable historia de ensueño, donde todo se sentía como un soplo de vida y música, donde estabas viendo experiencias infantiles en forma de canción, y fueron esos sentimientos que se transmitieron a través de la película y las canciones lo que quiero compartir contigo hoy.
Si no la han visto, vayan a verla y si les encanta como a mí, escuchen el álbum de Discovery, no hay pérdida en abrirse a nuevas experiencias, así que permítanme compartir ésta con ustedes mientras sumerjo mi creatividad en mis inspiraciones básicas e intento remodelar mi yo actual en alguien mejor.
Como la música siempre construye desde la base, construye emociones y sentimientos, construye amor y comprensión, es el puente eterno entre todos los humanos que puede comunicarte Mozart, y transmitirte una cantidad infinita de inspiración, así que espero que te abras a Interstella 5555, y vivas una experiencia musical.
