This is one of the first films that were part of my childhood in its entirety, and it is quite curious considering the present means by which I could see it, literally when I was very young around 9 almost 10 or 11 years old at school, I was curious to see theater or acting classes and I got it, Curiously there was one day in particular where we were invited to the museum, the group that was taking that class including myself, we got to talk about various things related to art, theatrical interpretation and puppets and at the end of the class, we had time to watch a feature film and that is when this film came into action.
From what I remembered at the time, it was an adventure in which I was accompanied in an environment of support, improvement and above all care and family, I can only say that at the time despite being so fun and dynamic the most outstanding values were present in both Jim, as well as the group of insect characters that accompany him and at this point to see it again and have a more solid opinion reinforced in the passage of age, I can say that I maintain largely that ideal but adding other elements that I feel gain much weight and meaning, but these are things that I will talk later, so this time I bring you a classic and an underrated gem of my childhood, Jin and the giant peach.
Esta es una de las primeras películas que formaron parte de mi infancia en su totalidad, y es bastante curioso considerando el medio presente por el cual pude verla, literalmente cuando era muy chico rondando a los 9 casi 10 u 11 años de edad en la escuela, tuve la curiosidad de ver clases de teatro o actuación y lo conseguí, curiosamente hubo un día en particular en donde nos invitaron al museo, al grupo que cursaba dicha clase incluyendo mi persona, se llego hablar sobre diversas cosas dirigidas al arte, la interpretación teatral y las marionetas o títeres y al finalizar dicha clase, tuvimos tiempo para ver un largometraje y es cuando esta película entro en acción.
Por lo que recordaba a su momento, era una aventura en la cual estaba acompañada en un ambiente de apoyo, superación y sobre todo cuidado y familia, solo puedo llegar a decir que en su momento a pesar de ser tan divertida y dinámica los valores más destacables se hacían presente tanto en Jim, así como el grupo de personajes insectos que le acompañan y a estas alturas al poder verla nuevamente y tener una opinión más solida reforzada en el paso de la edad, puedo llegar a decir que mantengo en gran parte ese ideal pero añadiendo otros elementos que siento cobran mucho peso y significado, pero son cosas que hablare más adelante, así que esta vez les traigo un clásico y una joya infravalorada de mi infancia, jin y el durazno gigante.

Synopsis / Sinopsis
Our story revolves around the life of a 7 year old boy named Jim Henry, which due to a tragedy linked to the death of his parents by a storm in the form of rhinoceros, he is forced to live with his horrible aunts who abuse Jim and exploit him by making him work as if he were a slave, Jim's life will change when one night a stranger gives him a bag in which are deposited magical tongues, and from here will begin a great change for him in many areas.
Nuestra historia gira en torno a la vida de un chico de 7 años llamado Jim Henry, el cual debido a una tragedia ligada a la muerte de sus padres por una tormenta en forma de rinoceronte, este se ve obligado a vivir con sus horribles tías las cuales abusan de Jim y lo explotan haciéndolo trabajar como si se tratase de un esclavo, la vida de Jim cambiara cuando una noche un extraño le otorga una bolsa en la cual están depositadas lenguas mágicas, y a partir de aquí comenzara un gran cambio para él en muchos ámbitos.

Jim and the giant peach is a beautiful movie, that I would personally recommend to any young boy, and not only I mention it for the emotional charge and nostalgia for which this film means to me, but because it touches very remarkable and quite solid aspects both morally and ethically, of course it also shows us the opposite as certain negative aspects, but as positive aspects take even more weight, mainly 3 that take more weight as the journey of our characters lengthens and reach their destination and those are fear and overcoming it, following your dreams and the meaning and weight of what is a family but before addressing these significant issues, I will take the liberty to go breaking down part by part all aspects that together consolidate and structure this beautiful film.
Let's start with the animation section, or in this case the incorporation of one of the most underrated and methodical means as well as difficult to carry out, the stop motion, a means which I have come to enjoy very much, and in this particular film is a feature not only striking, but also that has aged well for its time considering that it is a film of 1996 to date, you can still notice the high level of work and care in the movements and the structure of the shapes in the insects, birds, environment and the peach basically in all integral aspects linked to the consolidation of this section I feel that it is well structured and enjoyable to watch and more at this point, where I feel that not much is incorporated. The combination between that and the participation of the actors, makes this film interesting using two modalities stop - motion and integral acting which gives it a dynamic air.
The setting is significantly changing or evolving, it does not remain static in a mere cold or dreary scenario and it is clearly developed just like that, on the contrary we can witness a significant variety in both climate and environment, going from a summer aspect at the beginning or relaxation to a darker and gloomy one to transport us to one by the ocean, the sky or snow, it is something that keeps changing and considering it is a journey what better way to present it this way, it is a dynamic and quite enjoyable aspect.
The characters are quite charismatic and have a very ingrained and distinctive personality, each one possessing a very noticeable trait either expressing it corporeally or linguistically, which adds a very balanced variety to the plot.
The plot in question is accompanied by messages of overcoming, support and understanding is a very nice way in which we are shown that it is normal to have fear and accept it but also to face it and overcome it, as well as how to follow your dreams and aspirations and above all the weight and importance of a family and a home, We are shown that a family is not only something that is limited or linked to something by blood but also by those who appreciate you and love you or support you and that is a trait that we see very present in the variety not only of insects in this journey but also by Jim to feel accepted and complement them and them to him in their own particular way.

Jim y el durazno gigante es una película hermosa, que en lo personal recomendaría a cualquier chico joven, y no solo lo menciono por la carga emocional y nostalgia por la cual esta película significa para mi, si no porque toca aspectos muy destacables y bastante sólidos tanto morales así como éticos, claro también nos muestra lo contrario como ciertos aspectos negativos, pero en cuanto aspectos positivos toman aun más peso, principalmente 3 que toman más peso a medida de que el viaje de nuestros personajes se alarga y llegan a su destino y esos son el miedo y la superación de este, el seguir tus sueños y el significado y peso de lo que es una familia pero antes de abordar estos temas tan significativos, me tomare la libertad de ir desglosando parte por parte todos los aspectos que en conjunto consolidan y estructuran esta hermosa película.
Comencemos con el apartado de la animación, o en este caso la incorporación de uno de los medios más infravaloradas y tan metódicos así como difíciles de llevar a cabo, el stop - motion un medio el cual eh llegado a disfrutar muchísimo, y en esta película en particular es un rasgo no solo llamativo, si no también que ha envejecido bien para su época considerando que es una película de 1996 hasta la fecha, aun se puede notar el gran nivel de trabajo y cuidado en los movimientos y la estructura de las formas en los insectos, aves, ambiente y el durazno básicamente en todo aspecto integrales ligados a la consolidación de este apartado siento que está bien estructurado y es disfrutable de ver y mas a estas alturas, donde siento que no se incorpora mucho. La combinación entre eso y la participación de los actores, hace que esta película sea interesante usando dos modalidades el stop - motion y la actuación integral lo que le da un aire dinámico.
La ambientación es significativamente cambiante o evolutiva no se mantiene estática en un mero escenario frio o lúgubre y se desenvuelve netamente solo así, no al contrario podemos presenciar una variedad significativa en tanto a clima como ambiente, pasando de un aspecto veraniego al comienzo o de relajación a uno más oscuro y tétrico para transportarnos a uno por el océano, el cielo o la nieve, es algo que se mantiene en cambio y considerando que es un viaje que mejor forma de presentarlo así, es un aspecto dinámico y bastante disfrutable.
Los personajes son bastante carismáticos y tienen un personalidad muy arraigada y distintiva, cada uno poseyendo un rasgo bastante notorio sea expresándolo corporal o lingüísticamente lo que le agrega, una variedad muy equilibrada a la trama.
La trama en cuestión se ve acompañada por mensajes de superación, apoyo y entendimiento es una manera muy agradable en la cual se nos muestra que es normal tener miedo y aceptarlo pero también enfrentarlo y superarlo, así el cómo seguir tus sueños y aspiraciones y sobre todo el peso y la importancia de una familia y un hogar, se nos muestra que una familia no es solo algo de lo cual se ve limitado o ligado hacia algo sanguíneo si no también, por aquellos te aprecian y te aman o te apoyan y eso es un rasgo que vemos muy presente ante la variedad no solo de insectos en esta travesía si no por parte de Jim al sentirse aceptado y complementarles a ellos y ellos a él a su manera particular.

Too Dark for Children
I would honestly say that James and the Giant is a very dark film in more ways than one. First, the setting of the story is grim. James lost his parents at an early age and was forced to live with his two cruel and abusive aunts. Now you might argue that a lot of Disney films have similar plot, but with James and the Giant Peach being part live action, the story hits closer to reality.

Secondly, since this is a Tim Burton movie, it has a very depressing and gloomy ambiance, similar to The Nightmare Before Christmas. Half of the film was also done via stop motion puppets and their appearances can be a bit initimating to younger viewers especially Mr. Centipede.

Third, there were a couple of nightmare-inducing scenes in this film like the metal shark. That took the fear of sharks to a whole new level with sharp rows of teeth and a harpoon for a tongue. There's also a scene where it gobbles up fishes and then spits out their severed heads in a platter, with the fishes still alive and gasping. Then there's the dreadful 'rhino' that rides through the storm clouds. It's cene was a true nightmare fuel when we were kids, I can only imagine what it would have felt like seeing it in the cinemas.

Still a Great Children's Movie
And despite me calling it too dark for children, James and the Giant Peach has catchy and memorable songs that I still remember close to two decades after. The film also has many heartwarming moments highlighting the importance of having hope and striving to fulfill your dreams.

The film ends with James finally reaching his destination of New York City and even parks his Giant Peach on top of the Empire State Building. It was in this moment that he finally learns to have the courage to stand up for himself which is a very important lesson to teach children.
