Without a doubt, it is a super crazy ride, imagine this: twelve warriors, each representing a sign of the Chinese horoscope, caught up in a brutal pitched battle where their lives are at stake, bunk, at the touch of starting the tournament, each one swallows a poisonous gem, activating a twelve-hour time bomb inside... the idea is that whoever wins can ask for any wish! It sounds like your typical high-speed punch fest, but believe me, the series adds layers that make it much more than just another action anime, at least it tries... what hooked me was that mix of a super crazy idea with raw, unfiltered chaos... you have characters that are more different than water and oil: some go at it with brute force, others are more into using their heads and stealth to kill their rivals, and there are even some who are cheaters... I was hooked watching those very different ways of fighting, which made each fight feel new and unpredictable, although you already know that the deaths follow the order of the horoscope, yes, you heard right: the deaths start to be predictable, that can take away some of the excitement if you already know about the subject.

Something I liked was how the anime takes its time to show you a little bit of each warrior's past, obviously, with such a short series of 12 episodes, it may not give you enough time to fully connect emotionally with all the characters, but those short flashbacks of their personal stories are like little windows that let you see why they chose to risk their lives like that, whether it was for a noble cause, because they were desperate or simply for a twisted idea of ​​having a purpose, each background story gave the fights a bittersweet touch... I found myself laughing, crying and even half angry watching how these characters fought against their own ghosts and motivations, it's like the series wanted you to care about them, even if sometimes it doesn't give you enough time to completely like them.

Gran comunidad de The Anime Realm, espero que estén súper bien hoy, buscando canciones en Youtube, me apareció el opening de un anime, que vi hace tiempo, pero que recuerdo muy bien, y decidí que sería buena idea hablarles un poco de el, hoy les compartiré mis opiniones sobre el anime: Juni Taisen: Zodiac War. Sin duda, es un viaje super loco, imagínense esto: doce guerreros, cada uno representando un signo del horóscopo chino, metidos en una batalla campal brutal donde se juegan la vida, litera, al toque de empezar el torneo, cada uno se traga una gema venenosa, activando una bomba de tiempo de doce horas adentro.. la idea es que el que gane puede pedir ¡cualquier deseo! suena como el típico festival de golpes a toda velocidad, pero créanme, la serie le mete unas capas que la hacen mucho más que otro anime de acción nomás, al menos lo intenta.. lo que a mí me enganchó fue esa mezcla de idea súper loca con un descontrol crudo y sin filtro.. tienes personajes que son más distintos que el agua y el aceite: algunos se tiran a las trompadas de una con fuerza bruta, otros son más de usar la cabeza y el sigilo para matar a sus rivales, y hasta hay algunos que son unos tramposos.. yo quedé enganchado viendo esas formas tan diferentes de pelear, que hacían que cada combate se sintiera nuevo e impredecible, aunque ya sabes que las muertes siguen el orden del horóscopo, sí, escucharon bien: las muertes empiezan a ser predecibles, eso le puede quitar un poco de emoción si ya conoces del tema.
Algo que me gustó fue cómo el anime se toma su tiempo para mostrarte un poco del pasado de cada guerrero, obvio, con una serie tan cortita de 12 episodios, capaz que no te da para conectar emocionalmente totalmente con todos los personajes, pero esos flashbacks cortitos de sus historias personales son como ventanitas que te dejan ver por qué eligieron jugarse la vida así, ya sea por una causa noble, porque estaban desesperados o simplemente por una idea retorcida de tener un propósito, cada historia de fondo le daba a las peleas un toque agridulce..yo me encontré riendo, llorando y hasta medio enojado viendo cómo estos personajes luchaban contra sus propios fantasmas y motivaciones, es como si la serie quisiera que te importaran, aunque a veces no te dé el tiempo suficiente para que te caiga bien por completo.

Now, let's talk about the animation, because in a deathmatch anime, the visuals are everything! and Juni Taisen's animation, to be honest, is solid... I mean, I'm not going to tell you it's an out-of-this-world masterpiece, but it delivers, and delivers well, some people describe it as "very good" instead of "excellent", and honestly, I totally agree with that... what's more, there were moments, especially in the fights, where they mixed CGI with traditional animation and it turned out amazing! They managed to capture that great energy and the lack of control of each fight, it felt crazy, but I also have to say that not all the episodes maintained that level... I remember a couple where the quality of the animation dropped, and that's when you feel a little down.

But still, those moments were few, and overall the quality was maintained, I mean, if I had started to expect a work of art in every frame, I might have been disappointed, but what I got was something decent that raised the level of the series just enough to keep it exciting... but let's see, what I really loved were the fighting styles of the characters, it's crazy to see how each warrior faces combat... some are super direct and come at you like crazy, cutting and pasting with all their might, while others are smarter and use more thought out tactics, combining stealth, distraction and strategy... I loved, listen to this, that there was a fighter who had to be drunk! to bring out all his power in battle... I know, it sounds ridiculous, but that made their fights hilarious and unpredictable, and at the same time, terrifyingly effective! These odd details give the fights a unique vibe, even if the overall story can sometimes feel a bit repetitive.

Ahora, hablemos de la animación, porque en un anime de batallas a muerte, los visuales son ¡todo! y la animación de Juni Taisen, para ser sincero, es sólida.. o sea, no te voy a decir que es una obra maestra de otro mundo, pero cumple, y cumple bien, por ahí la describen como "muy buena" en lugar de "excelente", y la verdad, estoy re de acuerdo con eso.. lo que sí, hubo momentos, sobre todo en las peleas, donde mezclaron CGI con animación tradicional y ¡quedó increíble! lograron captar esa energía genial y el descontrol de cada enfrentamiento, se sintió como una locura, pero también tengo que decir que no todos los capítulos mantuvieron ese nivel.. me acuerdo de un par donde la calidad de la animación bajó, y ahí sí como que te bajoneás un poco.
Pero igual, esos momentos fueron pocos, y en general la calidad se mantuvo, o sea, si yo me hubiera puesto a esperar una obra de arte en cada cuadro, capaz que me decepcionaba, pero lo que me dieron fue algo decente que le subió el nivel a la serie lo justo para que siga siendo emocionante.. pero a ver, lo que sí me encantó de verdad fueron los estilos de pelea de los personajes, es que es una cosa de locos ver cómo cada guerrero se enfrenta al combate.. algunos son super directos y te van al frente a lo bestia, cortando y pegando con toda la fuerza, mientras que otros son más inteligentes y usan tácticas más pensadas, combinando sigilo, distracción y estrategia.. me encantó, escuchen esto, que había un luchador que ¡tenía que estar borracho! para sacar todo su poder en la batalla.. ya sé, suena ridículo, pero eso hacía que sus combates fueran divertidísimos e impredecibles, y a la vez, ¡aterradoramente efectivos! Esos detalles, tan raros, le dan a las peleas una onda única, aunque a veces la historia general se sienta un poco repetitiva.

And well, I must say, that not everything was good or perfect, one of the biggest flaws I found was how predictable the fights were... because as the series is based on the order of the Chinese horoscope, once you get the hang of the pattern, you already imagine who is going to be the next to die... that thing of knowing what is going to happen, sometimes lowers the tension that a battle to the death like that is supposed to have... it was almost like you could program your watch to the rhythm of the deaths: a constant ticking that told you when it was the turn to say goodbye to a character that, perhaps, you had even started to like, and speaking of characters, let's see, the flashbacks that told you the past of each warrior were interesting, yes, but many times they felt rushed or that they were missing something... with only twelve chapters in total, the series could not show you in depth how deep each character was, and I was left wanting more.

I wish I could have given it a little more time to get emotionally hooked, but despite all this, it's not that bad. It made me think about what I value most in a story: whether it's the adrenaline-filled fights, the complicated stories of the characters or the raw, unfiltered way they show you destiny and what happens next, the series dared to touch on all of that in a short time, and although it didn't always give you a super complex story, you don't feel bored watching it, here they risked their lives, and you always had that thing in the air that time was running out, thanks to that mortal internal clock that marked the destiny of each warrior.

Y bueno, debo decir, que no todo fue bueno o perfecto, una de las mayores fallas que le encontré fue lo predecibles que eran las peleas.. porque como la serie se basa en el orden del horóscopo chino, una vez que le agarras la onda al patrón, ya te imaginas quién va a ser el próximo en morir.. esa cosa de que ya sabes qué va a pasar, a veces le baja un poco la tensión que se supone que tiene que tener una batalla a muerte así.. era casi como que podías programar tu reloj al ritmo de las muertes: un tic-tac constante que te marcaba cuándo le tocaba el turno de despedirse a un personaje que, capaz, hasta te había empezado a caer bien, y hablando de personajes, a ver, los flashbacks que te contaban el pasado de cada guerrero estaban interesantes, sí, pero muchas veces se sentían como a las apuradas o que les faltaba algo.. con solo doce capítulos en total, la serie no pudo mostrarte a fondo lo profundo que era cada personaje, y a mí me quedé con las ganas de que me dieran un poquito más de tiempo para engancharme emocionalmente, pero a pesar de todo esto, no está tan mal.
Me hizo pensar qué es lo que más valoro de una historia: si son las peleas a full de adrenalina, las historias complicadas de los personajes o que te muestren de forma cruda y sin filtro el destino y lo que pasa después, la serie se animó a tocar todo eso en poco tiempo, y aunque no siempre te dio una historia súper compleja, no te sientes aburrido viéndola, aquí se jugaban la vida, y siempre tenías esa cosa en el aire de que el tiempo se acababa, gracias a ese reloj interno mortal que les marcaba el destino a cada guerrero.

Anyway, Juni Taisen is an anime that surprised me because it dares to mix full action with moments to think a little, although it also left me with that feeling that it could have been much more! if they had given more room to develop each story... maybe we would have gotten more hooked on the warriors and it would have really hurt us when they said goodbye, but, on the other hand, that thing about them leaving so quickly, following the order of the horoscope, gives it a kind of tragic irony that catches you... it makes you remember that, in real life and in stories, sometimes things happen as they have to happen, no matter how much we want them to be different, oh, another thing, I can't help but mention how they mixed styles in the fights... that combination of CGI and traditional animation gives a special vibe to the fights, although, of course, it's not like that completely saves a story that sometimes feels forced.

I think that, despite its flaws, Juni Taisen gives you an experience that stays with you, an experience that makes you want to discuss every detail with your fanatic friends… to close, if you are looking for a series that combines adrenaline, an original design and an idea that intrigues you – a battle to the death where the destiny of each warrior is already written – Juni Taisen may be just what you need… it is not perfect, and you can see that it lacks character development and that some deaths are predictable, but it still gives you moments of real emotion and a visual style that is worth watching. En fin, Juni Taisen es un anime que me sorprendió porque se anima a mezclar acción a full con momentos para pensar un poco, aunque también me dejó con esa sensación de que podría haber sido ¡mucho más! si le hubieran dado más cancha para desarrollar cada historia.. capaz que nos hubiéramos enganchado más con los guerreros y nos dolería de verdad cuando se despidieran, pero, por otro lado, esa cosa de que se van así, rápido, siguiendo el orden del horóscopo, le da como una ironía trágica que te atrapa.. te hace acordar que, en la vida real y en las historias, a veces las cosas pasan como tienen que pasar, por más que queramos que sean diferentes, ah, otra cosa, no puedo dejar de mencionar cómo mezclaron estilos en las peleas.. esa combinación de CGI y animación tradicional le da una onda especial a los combates, aunque, claro, tampoco es que eso salve por completo una historia que a veces se siente forzada.
Yo creo que, a pesar de sus fallas, Juni Taisen te da una experiencia que se te queda, una experiencia que te dan ganas de discutir cada detalle con tus amigos fanáticos.. para cerrar, si buscas una serie que combine adrenalina, un diseño original y una idea que te intrigue –una batalla a muerte donde el destino de cada guerrero ya está escrito – Juni Taisen puede ser justo lo que necesitas.. no es perfecta, y se nota que le falta desarrollo de personajes y que algunas muertes son predecibles, pero igual te da momentos de emoción de verdad y un estilo visual que vale la pena ver.
