  1. Leave the World Behind (2023) || You Will Wrestle With The Not Knowing@teknon315d

    IMG_8500.jpeg

This is one of those movies I watch, sigh and say “favoritism made me do it.” For the love or should I say admiration for Julia Roberts. I don’t think I’ve seen any of her films in a long while so coming across this one, I didn’t think twice, I just watched.

    IMG_8501.jpeg

But, whatever I later got from this film wasn’t what I expected from it. I don’t know what I really expected but I honestly didn’t think it was an ‘end of the world’ kinda film. I’ll also warn you; it’s not your typical “end of the world” movie. It’s not filled with explosions nor is it about saving humanity in some grand heroic gesture. It rather focuses on a small group of people, one house and the terrifying not knowing of what’s happening beyond the walls.

    IMG_8505.jpeg

The setup is pretty simple: Amanda (Julia Roberts) and her husband Clay (Ethan Hawke) rent a luxurious home for a family getaway. But their seemingly peaceful vacation gets disrupted when the owners of the house, GH(Mahershala Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha’la), show up unexpectedly, claiming that a sudden blackout has knocked out power across the city. With no internet, no news and strange occurrences piling up (animals behaving oddly, tech failures, planes falling from the sky), the tension isn’t just about what’s happening “out there”, it’s also about trust, fear and who they choose to believe when nothing makes sense.

The film leans into paranoia and never gives you easy answers which may likely frustrate you. The characters were just as clueless as I was and the longer it went, the more I felt that creeping dread of being cut off from the world.

    IMG_8502.jpeg

Performance-wise, Julia Roberts delivers. She’s tense, suspicious and layered. Mahershala Alifirst impression of him, carries a calm but commanding presence that makes you hang onto every word that comes out of his mouth. I was really trusting him to fix the situation because of how collected he seemed. Ethan Hawke plays Clay as almost painfully passive, which works anyway because it highlights how unprepared most of us would really be if we were to ever be in same situation.

The film isn’t fast and I think that’s deliberate.I watched it at 1.5x speed anyway

    IMG_8506.jpeg

Not going to lie, I found it too slow. At some point I was frustrated and that’s mostly because this movie avoids giving a neat, tied-up explanation for whatever the hell was happening. I hated the idea of wrestling with the not knowing, just like the characters. I needed a freaking explanation.

Nevertheless, it’s sleek visually but unsettling. You know, little touches like a herd of deer, the silence of empty skies, the flicker of dying screens just sticks with you. It’s less about spectacle and more about mood.

    IMG_8504.jpeg

Would I recommend it? Yes but with a caveat. If you want a big disaster movie energy, you will be let DOWN!. But if you’re into slow-burn psychological thrillers that poke at your anxieties about technology, society and trust, then go for it.

    Rating? ⅗.

  2. Leave the World Behind Review : A Chilling Sci-Fi Thriller You Can’t Miss@papamogambo469d

I finally saw "Leave the World Behind" movie. It is a Sci-fi/Thriller movie. I will review this movie and share my thoughts on how I liked it.

    Watch on YouTube

    Story Overview

In the movie we see the story of a family. Where they make vacation plans. So they also book a house. Which was a much nicer house but they got it at a much lower price. So they continued to rejoice but one day in the middle of the night the owner of that house came there. And say the house is theirs but they don't see it as their house. And soon after they arrived, some strange things started happening. For example, there were cyber attacks in America too, ships fighting each other, planes crashing, and many other such incidents. This is what you can see in the movie why these strange events were happening?

    Suspense & Thriller Elements

It is a drama, thriller movie and more than that it is a suspense, mystery movie. Where the mystery of the movie will make you wonder what is going on here? Even when the movie is 95 percent over, you won't understand what's going on here. And when you understand why this is happening, you will be shocked. There are many things in the movie that keep you hooked.

    My Experience & Thoughts

Early in the movie I thought it was the work of aliens. But you can understand whose work it is after watching the movie, I won't give any spoilers.

It is a suspenseful, thriller movie that keeps the suspense till the end of the movie. Sometimes there will be some incidents in the movie which will make you curious to know the mystery of this movie. I finished the movie from start to finish in one go. No place was boring at all. The length of the movie is 2 hours and 31 minutes but the movie ends very quickly, the time does not let you know.

    Negative Aspects

There is a possible downside. That is, it has no happy ending. If you like happy ending movies, then you might be a little disappointed in this place.

    Final Verdict & Rating

Actually this movie is much better. I will rate this movie 9 out of 10. In the end I will tell you that watch the movie, you will really like it a lot.

If you have already watched this movie, let us know in the comments what's your thought.

The mastermind behind Mr. Robot (2015) presents ‘Leave the World Behind’ on Netflix. This thrilling film delves into the realm of conspiracy as a family embarks on a brief getaway, seeking solace in an isolated house, far from the hustle and bustle of their urban lives.

After returning home, the family settles into what appears to be a normal routine. The children splash happily in the pool while the parents, played by Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke, relax with a glass of wine, momentarily escaping the pressures of everyday life.

However, in an unexpected turn of events, chaos ensues. Ships crash into the shore, planes plummet, the electricity suddenly goes out and the phone signal mysteriously vanishes.

It is in this convergence of calamitous events that thoughts naturally gravitate towards the notion of an impending apocalypse.

    [Source](https://www.filmaffinity.com/ve/filmimages.php?movie_id=290444)

The essence of the film lies in exploring the consequences of a possible collapse of our current system. It delves into the question of how humanity would respond and adapt in such a scenario.

Would we possess the knowledge and capacity to navigate through this new reality?

The system itself has become dependent on external support, but it remains uncertain whether those in power have intentionally initiated this dependency or simply allowed the idea to spread among a fearful population.

As the film unfolds, the plot takes us into a world where the system has collapsed. The origins of this devastation remain unknown, but we witness protagonists driven by a desperate search for answers, seeking solutions to their difficulties.

    [Source](https://www.filmaffinity.com/ve/filmimages.php?movie_id=290444)

The aim of the film is to provoke contemplation about existence within a social framework. Humans, like animals, possess an inherent sociability.

The only distinction lies in the human being's ability to choose between joining a collective or opting for isolation in the belief that it may lead to a more favourable outcome.

Gender, age, religion and sexual orientation have no relevance in this matter. The undeniable truth remains that we are interdependent beings and evading this reality is futile. It is therefore prudent to acclimatise quickly to this notion.

The absence of novelty or wonder does not detract from the positive reception of witnessing characters face such challenges.

The intrigue of observing human responses to uncertain circumstances remains unwavering.

Despite one's own perceived capabilities, it is only through direct experience that one can gain true knowledge of one's own capabilities.

Have there been times when you just want to escape reality and be in an entirely different world? The movie which is entitled, ***"Leave the World Behind"*** somehow depicts both the literal and figurative meaning of its title.

In the movie, Amanda Sandford *(played by Julia Roberts)* booked a luxurious rental home for her and her family to stay at for the weekend. She has been too exhausted from work, so has her husband. They thought it could be a great escape and a chance to relax and bond with their two kids.

While they were at the beach that weekend, something strange started happening and continued on for the next days. There was no signal, animals started acting strange and two people suddenly appeared in front of their rental home.

The movie was a little bit of everything, to be honest. It wasn't confusing... just a little intriguing. A lot of things were happening at the same time which are not properly explained. I'm not complaining though because I enjoyed it.
I personally like it when a movie allows me to make my own conclusions instead of giving every explanation away. I find it fun and engaging in a way. Anyway, here's the trailer of the said movie below.
    [VIDEO SOURCE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMVBi_e8o-Y)
Despite having a quite unrealistic setting, the characters reaction towards what's happening were relatable. It's interesting how every character represent a certain type of person. It shows how people deal with various events, other people and their own self.

    image.png IMAGE SOURCE

I've read some reviews on this movie and a lot of people were not impressed by the ending. They mentioned how irrelevant and anti-climatic it is. I can see their point, but I personally don't mind how it ended. Sure, it wasn't the best way to end the movie, but it makes sense and it made me think.
Sometimes, amid the chaos, struggles and everything else, we can choose ourselves and the things that make us happy and feel alive.
All in all, it was a good movie, but don't expect too much. I liked it, but I'm not sure if it would be other people's cup of tea. But if you have time and curious enough to watch this, then do so... and tell me what you think afterwards.
Thanks for reading and see you next time! (^^,)/

  5. Leave the World Behind | Review [ENG-ESP]@davidpena21900d

Over the years, the world has gone through many events, where most are caused by the same human being, all for a game, power, to be the best and say that they have control, causing society to be filled with fear and not know what to do with their lives in such moments. As it happened in the most recent Netflix movie, which gave much to talk about all social networks known as Leaving the world behind, where a director managed to make a production based on a very desperate situation, full of terror, fear and a mental game with each of those who make life there, when you realize that you are about to live in a world of collapse and thus manages to create many questions.

    munod.jpg Edited in Canva

From the beginning everything starts very well with a simple vacation and I even thought it would be the same as always, without a doubt things take a different path when certain aspects appear that allow the fear of the human being to grow, since no one would be prepared to receive an unexpected visit at night or suddenly all services are cut off and you are left without communication, creating a very confusing scenario, where we wonder what will happen, is it all a game, will they be able to enjoy the vacation, and many other things, since it is not as simple as it seems. In addition, another very good aspect that very few films of this genre have is that it makes us imagine and think about the possible clues to the whole problem, but again the medium is present that makes the human being is locked and does not react to anything, causing a disaster.

A production that covers many theories and things that are caused by the same human being, using technology, power and resources that no one has, especially the government of a country. The film covers every detail and leads us to continue to enjoy and see what will happen, if everything will have an end explained or simply the world will end and everyone will die, creating a sense of intrigue, suspense and the thought that something bad will happen in a certain time. Beyond that, it also seeks to show that teamwork, security and trust in people is very important, since in this type of situation everyone is on their own looking for a way to survive an apocalypse.

They managed to recreate a great production with each of the special effects and each of the scenes of the same, which allows it to be very attractive and not boring at all, since it always does not present something new and when you realize you have seen many places and each one has a very different situation before that great situation, in addition the diverse moments of terror that are there present in the film and everything is to play with that fear and thought of the human being, since it is the main reason of the same one, emphasizing that moment of the people that are not the owners of the house, in addition the deer, being a very dangerous animal, but that at the same time they give much fear, for that reason it is a film where you will take many surprises and they will be able to be very desperate.

With more than hours of production, fear, psychology and decision making gives us a great production where the end of the world will be present and how everything can happen in a matter of seconds and at the least expected time, so it is a situation that no one could be prepared, either by something planned human being or everything happens by itself, so life is one and you have to enjoy it to the fullest. Would you be prepared for an apocalypse?

    image.png Source

A very good cast and the best thing is to see again the presence of the great actress Julia Roberts as Amanda, which takes a great role in it and without her none of it would be possible, despite being very nervous, restless, since her vacation did not go well as she expected, however, she manages to get into the role and to face every situation in a good way, since the slightest mistake made was going to be very affected. The presence of her husband, Ethan Hawke as Clay, achieves a great connection, even though each one has a different perspective and both go through very desperate moments and causes a lot of anguish, since if they don't help each other, who will. Other characters that make life in this movie are very good and each one brings something to the table, as others who know what can happen.

    image.png Source

A movie that I liked a lot and I took many surprises that I never expected to see in a movie, also has many cons and pros, since it does not leave very thoughtful, being a great thriller with an open world of possibilities and for me this movie has to get the second part, no doubt the human being is capable of destroying the world at any time of life, regardless of the fear and the disaster it causes.

    ENGLISH

I had put off my first viewing of "Leave the world behind" quite a bit for a simple reason: I don't like it when the conversation around a film distances itself from its quality.

    MV5BMTUzM2I3NDEtMjNhYi00NTQ0LThmZDItZTMyMzM2MjJmZGRjXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTU3NDU4MDg2.V1_FMjpg_UX1000.jpg Source

For weeks it was inevitable to read hundreds of conspiracy theories, which, although they helped attract the masses to this film, also ignored those aspects that generally make us enjoy (or not) a specific work: the quality of its script, its direction, music, photography, the performances of the main and supporting actors and the ability it has to develop its own plot.

    Screenshot_2024-01-09-19-14-11-041_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

After my first viewing, I think I understood perfectly why this was, considering that the film by Sam Esmail (who many of us will remember for the acclaimed Mr. Robot series) revels in being disconcerting, a characteristic that unfortunately does not play in favor of the final result.

Starring Ethan Hawke, Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali, "Leave the world Behind" could be defined as an apocalyptic story, where little by little we see the consequences of an invisible threat.

    Screenshot_2024-01-09-18-45-56-903_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

    Screenshot_2024-01-09-18-48-56-902_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

Recently we have received a wave of similar stories that, as in the case of Don't Look up, are responsible for approaching the concept of the end of the world from a cynical and mocking angle, something that contrasts with the more brutal and direct approaches that we saw in early 2000s cinema like the technically brilliant "2012."

However, unlike the brilliant satire contained in Don't Look Up that made us reflect on our own reality by blurring the lines between satire and drama, Leave the World Behind falls halfway as a visually substantial, but unable to convey their messages organically.

I must confess that Sam Esmail's writing style had already shocked me a little since the days of Mr. Robot, not because it was objectively bad, but because he was focused on attacking the advancement of technology and our dependence on it from a point of view. extremely pretentious view, ignoring that at the end of the day they are wonderful tools that (in the right hands) allow us to achieve things that we previously considered unattainable.

In this case, not only are these ideas repeated with the same lack of subtlety, but also an entire environmental message is added that necessarily fits during the eternal two and a half hours of the footage.

    Screenshot_2024-01-09-18-50-49-330_org.videolan.vlc.jpg

Although I don't hate the idea of a progressive film (In fact it seems quite silly to me to rule it out because of this), I would have preferred if these same ideas had been presented in a less pretentious story, with characters who act with more rationality regardless of whether we (the viewers) do not understand what is happening.

Still, it's a visually appealing film with a couple of genuinely entertaining moments.

  7. Leave the World Behind (film): It's good, but it could have been better@netflixr905d

With this movie I feel as though the original idea was probably to make this story more in-depth and come to an actual conclusion rather than have it turn out the way that it did which, don't get me wrong, is still good, but I absolutely hated the way that this one ended and feel as though it could have been done better.

Even though I always try my best to avoid spoilers in every review that I do just know from this point forward that I suggest that you do watch this movie, I enjoyed it and recommend it.

    image.png src

When I saw this pop up on my Plex subscription I was curious because I haven't seen Julia Roberts in anything for a while but I do know that she is A-list enough that she isn't going to accept just any ol' script that comes across her agent's desk.

The film begins with her waking up her husband and telling him that they are off to a place just outside of New York City to have a little weekend getaway with their family. It is at this point that she does the only internal dialogue narration that happens in the entire film and she let's the audience know that she "absolutely hates people." This is something that I think all of us have been able to relate to during at least one point in our lives because I will admit that there are a lot of times that the way the world has become annoys me personally to the point where I want most of the people around me to just leave me alone.

So for her and her family, getting out to a small town just outside of busy NYC for a weekend alone it is exactly what they were looking for.

Things seem to be going very well when all of a sudden very strange things start happening such as everyone losing wifi and television capabilities and at this point I will admit I was like "here we go with the no signal apparatus that needs to exist in order for thriller films to move forward!" In this instance though I was incorrect and it wasn't just that they couldn't get a signal, nobody could. The more and more strange things start to happen and I will only spoil one of them

    image.png src

While they were at the beach an enormous oil tanker just keeps getting closer and closer until eventually everyone decides to run away as it crashes into the beach. The CGI during this portion of the film is wonderful but a bit later on that ends up not being the case.

When they return home from the beach they can't really find any information about what happened but just continue on with their dream weekend in a luxury beach home anyway. Then, later on, the owners of the house turn up at the door and this is where Netflix gets a bit Netflixy but I suppose they just can't help themselves.

    image.png src

The owners of the home are a wildly successful black family and they are polite in asking if it is ok if they stay in their own home in the basement suite because they were in NYC when the blackouts started happening and they have nowhere to go. This is where Netflix simply cannot help themselves as far as the racial re-education is concerned because Julia Roberts' character shows signs of not wanting them in the house and not believing they actually own it. Of course they don't come right out and say it but it is implied that her main reason for feeling this way is because they are black.

Thankfully they don't focus on this for very long and as things start to get worse, the two families come together as a team to try to figure out why no communications are working, no TV stations are working, and more and more technology-driven features that all of us take for granted in our lives also no longer work.

I always kind of enjoy when they try to "Black Mirror" us in this way because take a look at your own life and take stock of how heavily you completely rely on the existence of technology to get really anything in your life done. The point is nailed home when Ethan Hawke's character simply tries to drive to the grocery store in the small town and is completely incapable of doing so without GPS even though he drove from that small town to the house he was in just the day before. They don't come right out and say it but the point here is that all of us, myself included have allowed technology to be the dominant factor in our ability to simply survive.

    image.png src

Before all coms are lost it is explained to us that the problems is because of cyberattacks taking place all over the United States in a coordinated strike of unknown origin. After we catch a glimpse of that, televisions no longer work either, nor do radios. Everyone is completely in the dark, well not literally because for some reason they still have electricity.

The underlying message here, at least as I understood it, was that there are certain powers that be that are capable of simply flipping a switch and completely undermining everyone's way of life. Almost all of us wouldn't know what to do if one day all of a sudden our devices simply didn't work anymore. Does anyone even have a land line anymore?

I thought it was an interesting take on potential nation-ending strategies rather than just the usual bombs and aircraft sort of scenarios. Remove the technology that the population has become reliant upon to survive and they will quickly turn on one another... no reason to invade.

    Should I watch it?

This is one of the better films I have seen in recent times. It was so good in fact that even though I had planned on a 2-movie night, I went to bed afterwards instead realizing that there was very little chance that I was going to stay interested in the 2nd one. It did me some good probably because this film is over 2 hours long. Like I said earlier on, I don't like the non-resolution way in which the film ends but I can only imagine that this was done on purpose by the producers and director so that the audience has a sense of filling in the blanks of what they were not told on their own.

Except for the tiny little bit of racial education that Neflix seems contractually obligated to throw into anything that they make, this movie was pretty fantastic and I recommend it. I don't know why Netflix didn't try to throw this into theaters any more than they did as it only had a limited theatrical run at "select theaters" which probably just means NYC and Los Angeles.

  8. Leave the World Behind@cute-cactus918d

I imagined scenarios in my head where an ordinary story could turn into a cyber-attack, a world war or an attempted coup d'état against the government after the misuse of technology. Of course, what makes me think of these things is the chain of events, or should I say the chain of events that could happen, which even I will admit to myself is outrageous.

    [source](https://www.themoviedb.org/t/p/original/z6OkT7XjzSrgstiTlld0jUvME9y.jpg)

You may think that I am telling the story in a complicated way or not, and you can be sure that I will agree with you. I'm still thinking about the whole story that I watched and I don't have a clear idea of what happened and what might not have happened. Or rather, I have no idea what happened!

Something is definitely happening, but it's not clear what it is! Let me explain what I'm talking about and not to add more mystery to this review of a movie that already has enough mystery. I'm talking about the movie Leave the World Behind, which was made in 2023.

Going back to the beginning, I would like to emphasize that I watched the movie for Julia Roberts. Despite her advancing age, she is still beautiful and still manages to stay in the center of my attention. I won't go into the reasons for this, I just want it to be known that I watched the movie for her.

    [source](https://www.themoviedb.org/t/p/original/g65CxiPR2Jvpy7mcG6CyU9Q6MiE.jpg)

The movie in the thriller genre is really tense in terms of not being able to develop the story and tie it to a point. Obviously, we are at the first stop of a new sequel and they wanted to present the story with a wide range...

...but I think every movie should have its own ending, even if it's going to be a sequel one way or another. Every sequel I've seen so far has been tied to certain points in its own story and has an ending.

The material is good, the shots are good, the story is good, but it doesn't have the desired flavor because of the disconnections at the connection points. And it gives the impression that the movie will never end, that it will go on forever. In fact, there is no ending and the story disappears as if there was a blackout.

    [source](https://www.themoviedb.org/t/p/original/hQlXUcMriREzaC05a5EKtgzKN9j.jpg)

Julia Roberts, who plays Amanda, starts off as a responsible parent and a mother who prioritizes her two children and questions everything. In the later moments of the story, she switches to the view of being bogged down by personal conflicts rather than her responsibilities. It can be thought of as the lower personality struggling with the upper personality, but I find it strange that she chooses to be distrustful of third parties for this.

Ethan Hawke, who plays Clay, gives a better acting performance. Even though I opened the movie for Julia, Ethan instantly became my favorite. He maintains his trustworthy personality throughout the movie and maintains a balance in his ups and downs.

I can recommend you to watch Leave the World Behind, but I don't think you should rush to watch it. With its unfinished story, you might be the one who leaves the dinner before you are full. Wait for the sequel to be released and then watch it one after the other in a way that integrates the story. In spite of everything, I wish a good time to those who will watch it.

  9. Leave the World Behind, Sam Esmail, 2023@claudio83921d

From the novel by Rumaan Alam, an apocalyptic thriller with clear Shyamalan influences and Barack Obama's advice on the screenplay which made some scenarios more probable. The story of a humanity blindly in free fall, an unidentified enemy, confusing information and hence panic, fear, preconceptions, prejudices, inertia, mistrust.

    hut-1267670_1280.jpg Source

A mass self-destruction whose only person responsible is man with his lies, isolation, hypocrisy and total lack of transparency and trust towards others. Men who hate other men even though they know that, in the end, if everything fails, they will be left to themselves and then they will have to be satisfied, trust and rely so as not to become extinct.

Amanda Sanford, a misanthropic woman who works at an advertising company, decides to take her family to a rented house on Long Island for an unplanned vacation. Her husband Clay is a professor and her two teenage children, 13-year-old Rose and 16-year-old Archie, are obsessed with technology. Once they arrive, they realize they have no cell phone connection. Rose, who followed Friends, can't watch the last episode of the tenth season. While the family relaxes on a nearby beach, an oil tanker suddenly runs aground on land. Disturbed, they return home, only to realize that neither the television nor the wi-fi are usable.

If man is the poison, then there is good hope that he can also be the antidote. And when even the most advanced technology crashes, there will remain those trusted "Friends" who respond to the mantra of 'I'll be there for you', because real friends remain and do not go out of fashion, like iconic TV series and capable DVDs. to create connections beyond connections. Film with current and interesting ideas, not very original but holds up.

    English Text

Happy navel of the week guys, we still have less days left to finish the year and it is when we should be more active to start 2024 with the wind in our sails.

Taking advantage of that energy, a couple of nights ago I watched with my partner one of the most criticized movies on social networks even by influencers, considering that it is "a waste of time" to watch this plot that lasts more than 2 hours.
Before the movie was released on Netflix I was already sure that I was going to watch it regardless of any criticism that existed. I think Julia Roberts' starring jobs are fascinating, however if there is one single movie of hers that didn't quite work for me.
Leaving the world behind has many meanings in itself, the first thing that came to my mind is what you stop doing to waste time on things you think are more important. But then part of the movie also makes you think about the end of time itself, i.e. death itself.

    English Text

Most of the events take place in a vacation home where a family is ready to have a good time, being that work and occupations have not given the opportunity to have family moments.

I believe that traveling is healthy for family and even interpersonal relationships because everyone would be in a moment, place or activity of comfort, whether it is reading a book on the beach, building a castle or hanging out at the pool while looking around the landscape.
In short, this family has chosen at first instance to live emotions inside a house that was not supposed to be inhabited, it was exclusively for them. However, everything changes when a couple of people knock on the door in the middle of the night.
I thought to myself that they were pretending to be people they were not, because everything indicated that it was a deception, even Julia, who has the role of pillar of this family due to her character, notices certain signs that do not fit everything that these people talk about.

    English Text

Already the simple fact of having to host strangers in the same roof where your children sleep is something of alert and discomfort, but while it is true many strange things starting to happen not only around the place, but also in the nearby town where they are vacationing.

For a moment I thought it was going to have a "War of the Worlds" type sci-fi addition where alien bodies wanted to colonize the earth and wipe out humanity.
However the plot is simpler than that, it involves a form of war to spy on the sins of those who are part of a nation that has done harm to other countries.
These apparently have a technology so advanced as to leave a whole country vulnerable, and not to be exaggerated submerge it in chaos which is practically what they get with everything they do at the time.

    English Text

But then, returning to what the title is and its real definition, this will depend more on what it represents according to our perspective, because it happens that most of them focus on the events and those responsible when the reality is to see the causes and reasons why it reached a certain point.

Just that in my opinion is what symbolizes this plot, we are immersed in a fictitious world, each head is a world of its own and we forget that there is a rest of people.
One of the things they point out the most is the dependence that humanity has created towards technology as if it was always with us and it is not really so. Seeing also the fact how technology itself can become a threat to our lives.
We let time be taken up mostly by worries, work, distractions in terms of technological entertainment and we forget how easy it is to have a family vacation, go to a beach, have a picnic without cell phones at hand and forget a little of the luxuries of life.

    English Text

As for the certain signs in this film, I do not know if it is something religious, as a warning that there is some kind of salvation in humanity, or if it is simply a suspenseful addition to the plot.

What I do consider is that no time is wasted when we see from different points of view the plot and all the hidden messages it keeps. The problem when someone says that it is a total waste of time, is that this same person is still fooled by the fiction that lives in his life, a conclusion that I have reached because there are obvious things in the film that awakens certain emotions of reflection.
The ending can be seen somewhat clumsy with signs of continuity, there is even the possibility that it is so given that it is divided into chapters by itself the plot giving each of them names as if it were the process of some event.

Hello hive, today I come to talk about a rather curious movie that I just saw and I had already seen different recommendations on Tik Tok about this movie, so I decided to see it and thus draw my own conclusions, for this reason is that today I come to talk about Leave The World Behind.

Leave The World Behind is a Psychological Thriller movie released in 2023, directed by Sam Esmail and starring Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke and Myha'la. This movie shows us a family that decides to go to a house on the outskirts of the city in order to clear a little of the life they lead, however things start to become very strange and the disconnection isolates them from getting answers. The film is based on a novel of the same name released in 2020, written by Rumaan Alam. Having given some context, let's get started!

    8ADA4A99-454C-4776-9B93-514023574472.jpeg

    imagen

First I always like to start talking about what I love most about the film and in this case it is undoubtedly the direction, this is an aspect of which I am very aware, especially in thrillers, because I feel it is an important tool that must be used correctly as in this case, each scene manages to transmit that sense of tension needed to keep us hooked, this through some static shots with zoom and others with extremely dynamic shots, this mixture of both styles generates a very interesting end result that is necessary to highlight.

The performances of each of the actors also caught me, I feel that they manage to inject a very cool essence to each of the characters, plus I feel that they complement each other very well, so in this aspect I have no complaints.

    0E720C01-EBE3-45F2-A959-2587AD8928D7.jpeg

    imagen

As for the premise, it is very simple, however what makes it interesting is wanting to know why strange things are happening and wanting to see how our protagonists get out of that situation, but if we look at the "story" itself is not complicated, the confusing thing is to put together the puzzle to find what is causing the chaos.

I personally consider myself a fan of suspense movies, I feel that most of these movies keep us hooked until the end, until we finally get answers (and it is not even like that in all cases), but also suspense movies look for a different way to show us the facts.

    1658FAAA-408A-4992-A09F-EC085744C8F3.jpeg

    imagen

In this case I admit that maybe the movie got much more tangled than necessary, especially taking into account the ending, and I'm not saying that I didn't like the ending, but I feel that it didn't end up closing or explaining all the events.

Now that triggers another aspect that I also like about this kind of movies and that is to be able to interpret it in a subjective way and compare it with the opinions of others, because Leave The world Behind, gives us a fairly simple ending as far as it goes, but from there on it is our job to finish joining ends and give it other interpretations.

    47F6B9AA-971B-4C46-B999-DBF77D174309.jpeg

    imagen

When I started reading about the film I was struck by two interpretations: one of them talks about how the worst threat of society is society itself (and that is quite explicit in the film), and the other is that we as viewers play the role of the little girl in the family, who does not care about all the chaos outside, she simply seeks to isolate herself in her TV series.

In conclusion I enjoyed this movie, I like that it lends itself to various interpretations and that it really is an engaging film, that desire to want to know what will happen keeps us glued to the TV from beginning to end, and that is not a short film, but I am also clear that it is not an easy film to digest and maybe not for everyone, but personally it met my expectations, recommended!

    BC4429CF-914B-4BDD-9B6D-316917062B37.jpeg

    imagen

I would like to know if you have seen this movie and if so what is your opinion about it?

  12. Review ||🔥LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND🔥|| Netflix thriller movie (2023) [ESP/ENG]@edwarlyn11927d

Hello my dear readers of Hive and lovers of the film world ❤️ today I bring you a proposal fresh from the oven as they say, and is that this film is practically just premiering on the Netflix platform addressing a fairly complex issue but not so far from reality, a story in the thriller genre that I'm sure will leave more than one of us thinking and with much uncertainty at the end.

As is my custom, I do not like to give previews or spoilers of what will happen, especially if it is so new, but I like to give you from my opinion a small part of it to give you an idea of what it will be, and maybe if you really like the genre and the direction in which the plot turns, you will be encouraged to give it a chance and see it.

At first if I have to warn or warn you that the film is long, about 2 hours and will play with our minds by making us believe one thing and surprise us with another, each scene exceeds the previous one with a new mystery precisely related to the title leave the world behind, also giving us some references to reflect and that without imagining, beyond fiction, the way we go, we are not far from reality.

A great attraction for me of this film was to see Julia Roberts among the protagonists, playing a somewhat hard and cold woman with respect to the world around her, a mother who like many, we are sunk in the routine and monotony of everyday life. This makes everyone want to go out to take a little break and go on vacation out of town, but what they do not know is that this getaway will not be as quiet and relaxed as they imagined. Many strange and strange events will start to disturb them to the point of wanting to look for a logical explanation...but is there really one?

An exciting story that will leave our skin cold for having a lot of similarity with the present, addressing important issues such as technology and how it consumes us in a way that we can hardly stop depending on it, even away from reality by the amount of happiness and instant gratification that it causes us. Another important topic is the use of this advanced technology in politics, invasions and war attempts between important countries such as the United States, where at first everything seems to be the work of a strange apocalyptic event caused by beings from another world, even by climate change itself, but nevertheless, there is a greater danger and it is the human being, and the fearsome actions that this would cause in order to achieve their goals.

Here I share with you the trailer for you to enjoy it and encourage you to watch it if you haven't done it yet... and then let me know how you liked it 😸. I hope you liked it and I hope to share with you soon new reviews and recommendations (without spoilers)😁 of series and movies that I'm watching, with much love I say goodbye and I'll see you next time!

NO. Lo recomiendo? TAMPOCO.

    ENGLISH VERSION

    English

Hello here this afternoon to the community of #MoviesAndTVShows! I have pending to participate in the Christmas initiative that came out recently and I also have other festive films to review, but before doing so, I felt obliged to review first this film that was recently released on the platform of Netflix, which I waited about two months for its release, this film is called Leave The World Behind.

    𝕃𝕖𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕎𝕠𝕣𝕝𝕕 𝔹𝕖𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕕

    **Source**

I was looking forward to seeing this film because of the plot that the trailer itself gave me, as well as seeing the fabulous Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke starring in the film, as I hadn't seen them on the big screen for quite some time.

I'll tell you in advance that I won't give you spoilers, I'll just give you my opinion of the movie adaptation of a book with the same name, whose author is Rumaan Alam. I knew absolutely nothing about the book or its author until I finished watching the movie.

    **Source**

I read a couple of reviews of this movie as soon as it was added to Netflix and in both reviews they talked about how excellent it was, however, I have a different opinion. For me the movie itself, I was disappointed.

And for me to like a movie it must have first and foremost a story with a very well-developed plot, and unfortunately this film didn't have that. I don't know how the book will be, but I'm sure it will be better than the adaptation as it usually is.

    **Source**

I got several holes in the plot that were left in the air and unexplained, for that reason some interest was lost at some point, at least on my part, some scenes did not make sense to me or reason to be included in the film. When I saw the trailer I was expecting the movie to be about an alien attack or a catastrophe of such magnitude that the whole earth would be involved, but no, this is not the case.

I'm not going to tell you what it's about because it takes away the suspense that is revealed at the end and takes away the excitement of watching the movie. And well, in addition to a very poorly developed plot, I didn't like the visual effects they implemented at all, turning the camera at times that prolonged a scene that you could say was already over.

    **Source**

I mean, I justify turning the camera to visualize the structure of the house, and the aerial scenes in the forest, but to do it in almost the entire film? no, it got to a point where it made my eyes uncomfortable because it caused me some dizziness, besides, as I said before, lengthening the scenes that were already finished.

Another aspect I didn't like was the sound and the musical background applied to infuse the horror scenes. The movie didn't scare me at any point. I didn't like the abrupt changes of scenery either. The lyrics and intro they used at the beginning of the movie I didn't see it necessary, it wasn't a James Bond or Kill Bill movie to do that.

    **Source**

The special effects definitely could have been better, but I imagine that a lot of the money went to pay the great actors hired who in a way I can say saved part of the movie.

But it had quite a few negative aspects that can be criticized to a great extent and it hurts the film as a whole even if you hire the Creme de la Creme of Hollywood to sterilize it. By this, I mean that the film reaches a level of nonsense quite peculiar and that basically, I finished watching it because of the actors since it bored me at a certain point with its many turns of camera and unnecessarily prolonged scenes.

    **Source**

Finally, I want to add that the performance that surprised me the most was that of Mahershala Ali. Since his character was the most intriguing of all and kept me waiting to know what happened, would he be good? will he be bad? who is this man? what is he hiding? It was all a mystery that undoubtedly managed to demonstrate with his excellent interpretation.

But neither with flawless acting, nor because of the actors hired, nor the unfinished mystery that was presented in the film am I going to give it a high score. My final score for Leaving the World Behind is 6/10 or ⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Would I watch it again? NO. Do I recommend it? NOT. But as I said, the performances were pretty good. The score given is based mostly on the great work they all did, but I still have it on my list of worst movies I've seen this year.

Well dear readers, so far I leave you my opinion about Leave the World Behind. I would like to know if you have already seen it or want to see it after reading it. I'll say goodbye until the next post not before thanking you for reading my opinion. Greetings! and be well! 😄

If there is a movie that is making people talk, for better or worse, it is undoubtedly this one directed by Sam Esmail, the same of Mr Robot. But not only he is involved in the creation of this production, but also none other than Obama himself, yes, Barack and Michelle, those who once led the most powerful country in the world. I confess that this last fact I did not know, in fact I gave the film a chance because of the cast which is one of immense quality. Having Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Kevin Bacon and Mahershala Ali on the same screen is a must see without much thought.

This film can be categorized as a post-apocalyptic film, where human survival is based on being the fittest, with all the implications that this brings. Because, what would you do if you knew that the world was hanging by a thread? - That everything you know no longer exists and that trust and being a good person is a luxury which to put into practice is a great risk? - Well, this is the world in which these people are living. It is a drama full of suspense being also a very intense psychological thriller; I would dare to say that it is one of the films that can make the viewer more tense. But well, let's go and talk more about this new title at the hands of the Obamas, something that is quite curious if you ask me.

The film begins with Amanda and Clay (Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke), an ordinary couple who are immersed in the daily routine. With their two children they decide to shake up that life and go on vacation, a vacation that unfortunately for them and many others will be a total chaos. The thing is that once they are in the house they rented one fine night a couple of strangers appear pleading for help because in the city there has been a blackout and everything is submerged in disaster. This couple claim to be the owners of the house but with no way to prove anything, distrust grows and everything becomes more terrifying and full of doubts minute by minute.

The couple is G.H. and his daughter Ruth (Mahershala Ali and Myha'la Herrold), who from minute one inspire tranquility. As time goes by, they realize that the situation is more complex than they thought at first and apparently the world has entered a situation of no return where, as I mentioned before, there will be no other option but for each person to activate the survival mode. From here we will see how certain things begin to happen that will feed the theory that something really bad is happening and how these people manage to survive and not die in the attempt.

    Source!

The plot of the film is one of the simplest and most cliché things you can see and this is basically because of the amount of similar films with this theme. What makes it "special" is the absurd amount of tension, the eternal expectation that something is going to happen, that something is watching and watching, the lack of knowledge of the real situation, the distrust of the environment and the way people are portrayed, since there is a clear dehumanization very marked in each character. The latter is key because it is what marks the path and the evolution of relationships as well as a change in behavior motivated by various events that happen to each of them throughout the story.

The film has an aura of conspiracy theories that for many are an open secret, such as the one that the world is controlled by a small power elite that can do and undo as it pleases. What is striking is that this is done under the eyes of the Obamas, could it be that they know something that we do not? or is it simply fiction? - I mention this because it is one of the matrices of opinions that I have read the most about it, for me it is a real nonsense but these things give a lot of publicity. In the same order there is also some "racism" of blacks towards whites in one particular scene. This is also giving something to talk about especially if the Obama's are behind this film. As you can see, it is a film that does not escape from "controversy".

    Source!

Speaking more technically it must be said that the film is very well made. At the level of effects everything is very well done, the photography is spectacular, the soundtrack, the cinematography, the camera movement is very good, they use to use an angle that gives a touch more of contrariness and feeds the chaos that reigns. The performances for me are pretty average and this is painful considering the great actors that are there; they are not bad but one expects a little more notoriety in them and that they stand out. Julia Roberts is perhaps the tip of the spear, she is a woman who lives always doubting everything, questioning everything and her empathy towards people is limited, I would say that she is what stands out the most.

The rest, as I said, all very average. It's a weird movie and this opinion grows with the ending which left me a little bit confused. It is one that can give a thousand interpretations. It didn't catch me and it's a pity because it had everything to do it, in fact it started very well but then everything is diluted quickly and it seemed to me eternal, very long for how little it ended up being. I give it a 6/10. Technically it's very good but that's as far as it goes. It is available on Netflix and lasts almost two and a half hours. Here is the trailer.

  15. Leaving the world behind: Is this a realistic view of the end of the world?

What would it be like to be inside an apocalyptic moment on earth, what would be the first thing we would see fall and what would happen to society in the midst of the crisis? Well this is what the new Netflix movie Leave the World Behind tries to explain, a super production brought by the hand of director Sam Esmail, the same who was under the direction of series like Mister Robot and Homecoming. Now again he is bringing us an apocalyptic movie that besides having a very realistic plot has actors of great weight in the industry such as Julia Roberts, Ethan hawke, Kevin bacon and Mahershala Ali. And after watching it, the first thing I noticed on the internet is that it has not had a great reception, many people label it as a pretty generic and bad movie, but as everyone has an opinion about a movie or series in this publication I come to give my opinion about the movie and I will try to be as neutral as possible.

    intro 1.gif Source

But before I give my opinion about this movie, let's know a little of what the plot is about, basically it is about a family composed by Amanda, Clay, Rosy and Archie. This family wants to spend a beautiful vacation on long island but little by little their vacation is interrupted by events that are quite strange and that will test their physical, mental and family integrity. They will also face the dilemma of trying to survive whatever it takes as well as trying to make sense of things since supposedly due to a hacking and a massive blackout throughout the United States they start to see catastrophic scenes as if it were the end of the world.

The first opinion I have about the film is that it is quite realistic. First of all, the film mentions that a massive attack on the information networks of the United States caused the economic system of that country to collapse and therefore the world economic system, this is very close to reality because if we see that nowadays practically everything around us is electronic or has to do with electronic information, so if someone wanted to harm another country, they would simply turn off its electrical system or disconnect it from the Internet, which would generate massive chaos. And you can see perfectly how this movie portrays it and you see how people start to get desperate because their life is destabilized. In addition, if the electrical systems of a country are turned off or the computer systems are attacked, it can greatly damage other things and in the movie it is also seen as the airplanes and ships all begin to sail aimlessly and the planes fall from the sky killing many people. which if we take it to real life is totally true because with an attack on computer and electrical systems these things can also fail and therefore many disasters would occur globally.

    image.png Source

Another thing that I find very interesting about the film is to see how the characters gradually seem to lose their sanity and begin to despair to find a solution in a scene when they go to Danny played by Kevin bacon reminded me a lot of the scenes of the walking dead where when the world system fell people began to gather supplies and try to survive with what they had defending it to death with weapons, knives or teeth. And it is also seen how the first thing that is needed at the time of a disaster of this magnitude or an attack is to save medicines as the film also shows us that it is something extremely necessary.

Another interesting factor in the movie is that supposedly what has happened in the United States is an attack by the enemies and in fact a certain scene makes us see that it is so which also reminds us that this is totally true since the United States is a country that unfortunately many powerful people around the world do not like and as it says here in the movie could be one or more or that all the enemies of the United States would unite to attack which would gradually make the population become desperate and start a civil war to destroy themselves en masse which today is totally true because if we see the current reality of the United States we see that they are on the verge of a civil war as there are many commands and is a country totally divided in every way.

    image.png source

Now my opinion about the movie is that it is a very realistic movie, it does not go to exaggerated extremes nor does it tell the truth as if it were fiction, what the movie tries to transmit is what can really happen in a situation of an attack from one country to another, since these days an electronic attack is much more feared than a direct confrontation with weapons. So my opinion for this movie is to give it an 8 out of 10. Although it is quite realistic there are some scenes that are out of context and the ending obviously leaves room for a sequel which would raise its score to 10 since one is left with the expectation of knowing what happens at the end.

So I hope you liked this review let me know in the comments if you have seen this movie and if so let me know what is your opinion about it and if you have not seen it then I recommend you to see it and also leave me your comment of what you thought about it thank you very much for reading and see you next time.

    ENGLISH HERE

Leaving the world behind is a movie that was recently released on Netflix, lately I had not seen any movie and when this one appeared on the home page I thought, "why not watch it?", I watched it and I must say that I liked it. The first thing that caught my attention was its name, who hasn't wanted to leave the "world" behind a few times?, I don't know about you, but I have, like going to live in a mountain or something, ha, ha, ha, ha, anyway, the synopsis only tells us that a family rented a house to go on vacation for a couple of days and suddenly strange things start to happen (unwanted guests, "apocalyptic" situations), reading that was convincing enough for me to start playing it and watch it straight through.

This film is a little more than two hours long and is divided into parts, it's called "Leaving the world behind" for two reasons, the first (and most obvious) is because the rental house that the family rented is literally called that way, the second is that the message of the film is that, to leave the world behind no matter what is happening in it, this becomes more than clear by its ending, where it shows through the protagonist's daughter that when things are out of our control, we just have to let everything flow no matter how hard it is, create our safe place and disconnect. For many (some opinions on the internet), the ending of the movie was not very convincing, they were left with the feeling that somehow that was not the ending, which makes sense, since everything that happens in the movie is pretty heavy, then one would expect some kind of solution to the very big problem presented, but going back to the name of the movie, those events were not the main focus, the main focus was to depict what it would be like to leave the world behind in all its literalness.

The suspense, the good performances (I just didn't like the interpretation of the son of the family, sorry not sorry) and the desire to know what is happening are not lacking in Leaving the World Behind, Julia Roberts shined as always, the effects were good, the whole setting, the way things were approached I think it did manage to create the typical feeling of unknown and ominousness that this kind of movies seek to generate (very important) plus I love to be surprised with movies and series that don't end as I expect, because sometimes from watching so many one always ends up guessing how everything will develop, which can become little boring over time, don't you think? I want to mention that in this movie, Rosie, the daughter of the main character (Julia Roberts), is the key character, she is the meaning of the movie itself and I loved that. I like you little girl obsessed with Friends, even if I don't like Friends.

I recommend watching this film, it's not outstanding, but it's good, that is, it's not something never seen before, but is fresh and can make many people reflect. I think it's always good to bring up important messages for life in a graphic way, you know, we humans forget things and new little humans are always being born, a cycle in which teaching through different ways always prevails. If you like suspense, American movies about the end of the world or similar plus just want to be entertained for a while, possibly Leaving the World Behind will appeal to you.

    LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND

Today I opened my Netflix as I usually do every Sunday and I found this movie as the first option, I stopped to read the synopsis and really the only thing that made me decide to watch it was that Julia Roberts would be there and I thought to myself that it couldn't be bad , however there are mixed feelings here.

    image.png source

Let's start talking about the movie, this will be a short paragraph, I hope.

We meet a family that seems to be the typical American family, they are in the city and suddenly the wife (Julia) decides that they need a vacation and it is the best time to do it, so they rent a kind of Airbnb on Long Island, On the first day they arrive and everything is fine until on a walk on the beach something strange happens with a boat, and that is just the beginning of the strange things. Later at night while the children are sleeping, the couple hears a noise coming from outside and then someone knock on the door, the strangest thing is that it was the owners of that house bringing news that a blackout had occurred and they needed to stay in that house because it is safer. But really this is just the beginning of a world that seems to be falling apart while no one pays attention.

Today I will be simpler and only relate that part of the plot, but I am going to go a little deeper with my personal comments.

It is obvious that this film is apocalyptic and also belongs to the thriller, there is a lot of psychology involved in this whole issue and it feels like this situation is happening to me and by this I mean the characters and the entire development of the film. I think the story itself is quite open to any interpretation. It is evident that something is happening, but we do not know what it is, as a viewer you are waiting. However, in this entire plot not even the characters know what is happening so it creates a kind of confusion and I think that if I were in their place I would have entered into a kind of mass hysteria.

The whole movie you feel like what's going on here? And the characters are just like us, we are people who are not prepared for anything and who don't handle any type of information either. And something I didn't like is that I never fully understood what was happening and they never say it, throughout the film we have to assume or not know why the story was incomplete, perhaps that was the point to be able to bring the feeling to the viewer, that feeling of confusion and despair that the characters feel.

On the other hand, it felt so American. Always talking about the government, about the elites, that people with money control the world and will make us disappear if they want. Somewhere they mention something not so explicit, but you deduce that it is more of the same and perhaps a little illuminati here, corruption there... Maybe they are right and soon we are going to suffer from something similar but what is very certain are 2 things: 1.- that New York will burn in flames like in every apocalyptic movie I see, hahaha. 2.- We are all a little more paranoid every day.

To conclude, I thought it was a film that keeps you glued to the screen from beginning to end, it is entertaining, the ending is not at all conclusive and it injects you with emotions throughout the film. I don't consider it the best film I have ever seen, but neither I would put it in the bad movies category, I liked it.

  18. An Apocalyptic Thriller to Savour || Leave the World Behind Film Review@olujay931d

The word "slowburn" as one of the descriptions piqued my interest when I found this film. Although I had recently watched a film that had a similar thing, this one was going to be something about a dystopian time; apocalyptic would be more apt. A snippet from the film fueled my interest even more.

Leave the World Behind Poster (1).jpg

Leave the World Behind sounded more like people were going to evacuate the earth or something. I had missed that kind of film where I would get to see spaceships and some extraterrestrial drama, and the title and the snippet I watched made me expect that. It was nothing like that, however.

The 2023 film is an adaptation of a book of the same name, written by Rumaan Alam. With a two-hour runtime, it comprises elements that are ominous, thrilling, and intruiging. The most exciting thing for me, however, was the cinematography.

What the film turns out to be is something rather thought-provoking when one reads in between the lines. Or should I say in between the scripts? In the end, we realise something quite apparent about human nature and just how we are our own undoing.

Amanda doesn't like people and being around them, and so she wakes up one day with the idea of getting away from the city with her family to a house on Long Island. Her family, Clay her husband, Archie and Rose her son and daughter, are obsessed with their technology.

As soon as they reach the house, they begin to lose reception and internet services. Shortly afterwards, they began to experience blackouts. Then a family shows up in the middle of the night at their doorstep, asking to spend the night because they're far from home, with some shady explanation.

A series of events unfold, global hysteria ensues, and everyone is cut off from themselves with no cellular, internet service, or electricity. Things escalate with every turn, and the two families are stuck together to try and survive.

I didn't think I would sit for the entire film in one go because it was two hours long. It was when there were about 10 minutes left that I realised how much time had passed. What this implies is that I was engrossed for most of the film. And there are certain things that I appreciate about it. There were also some things that raised my eyebrows in the film.

The film is split into five parts. Each of those parts is not exactly a different section of the film but just points signifying different occurences in the apocalyptic world, or more like different levels. I particularly like this, as it wasn't something conventionally done in movies. It made me feel like there was still more to come in addition to the experience that I was already enjoying.

Considering the genre and runtime of the film and the fact that it was going to be a slowburn, I had prepared myself to be patient and expect the development of the story and its characters to take some time. But shortly after the introduction scenes, it had already started getting intriguing for me.

    Screenshot (260).png

From start to finish, I kept watching closely, trying to wrap my head around what was going on. There were strange occurrences with no plausible explanation, like a ship crashing into a shore and a plane falling out of the sky into the ocean.

The dialogues between the characters were a mixture of intense, witty, spooky, casual, and hilarious in many cases. I enjoyed just how certain characters interacted with themselves. And considering that there were different ages of characters, there was a whole dynamic to it all.

    Screenshot (258).png

The storyline was engagingly progressive. I felt carried along through each scene and savoured every moment of it. Some things didn't quite add up, however. As much as I enjoyed the thrills, I couldn't help but question, in the back of my mind, the explanations for what I was watching. I hoped that I would find the answer in the end, but what I got didn't exactly suffice eventually. It wasn't a problem anyway, and there is a good reason.

The general idea I got from the film was how flawed we are as humans in nature. As much as we make the world what it is and becomes, we consequentially break it with our actions and how we treat ourselves in certain circumstances. A part of the film explains how this is so, and that's something I appreciate, but it didn't really suffice for the mysterious things that had happened earlier.

    ᴄɪɴᴇᴍᴀᴛᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜʏ & ᴍᴜsɪᴄ

This film review would be incomplete without discussing the level of impression that I got from the cinematography of this film. I would say that I enjoyed the film mostly because it was just so hard to not notice and appreciate it.

    Screenshot (261).png

For many parts of the film, I wondered just how they may have shot them. The camera work was so appealing that I was ravished by what I saw. There are certain nuances to different levels of storytelling in films that cinematography—lights, sets, camera work—contribute to. An enhanced experience was what I had with this film, thanks to the team behind the visual storytelling.

The music is something to point out. When we are talking about ominous, this film has a lot of sounds like that. At almost every point in time, I thought something was going to happen—something spooky or really chilling. It's not that there were false alarms, but that the sounds I heard all through set the vibes for a really thrilling experience.

    divider4.png

    𝕄𝕐 𝔽𝕀ℕ𝔸𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊...

The fact that I didn't exactly get the answers to some of the questions I had in my film didn't really affect the fact that I enjoyed it regardless. It was just alright for me the way it ended. The way it ended gave a hint that the film was also some sort of tribute to the late star of the American sitcom Friends that recently passed on, Matthew Perry.

This is an apocalyptic film to enjoy, especially when one just needs to unwind. It may not be perfect, but I recommend it regardless.

    I'll give it a rating of 8.5/10.
