  1. One of the Successful Netflix Productions in the Thriller, Mystery Genre - Locked In@cute-cactus924d

A kind-hearted and dedicated nurse is in charge of caring for a comatose patient. Over time, however, she realizes that there is a remarkable picture underneath this seemingly simple situation. As she constantly monitors her comatose patient, she decides to embark on an investigation and learn about her patient's past and secrets. But behind these secrets lie unexpected and shocking truths. In fact, this comatose person may have a criminal past.

When I read the plot of Locked In, one of #Netfilix's new productions, I thought it would be quite boring, but I realized I was wrong within the first five minutes of the movie.

What kind of viewing pleasure can a nurse caring for a comatose patient and her investigations offer? My answer to this question is that the plot and the content of the movie are two different things.

There is a character of a nurse taking care of a comatose patient, but the story is not about the nurse's care of the patient and her research, as the plot suggests. Rather, the story starts at the end of the investigations and when everything is about to be revealed, cause and effect.

After watching the movie, which I tend not to watch based on the subject matter, I remembered the saying "don't judge a book by its cover." If I hadn't watched it, I would have missed Locked In with its scenes full of suspense and mystery, which I thought was excellent. Or I would have had the chance to watch it in later years.

Anyway, I watched the movie and Netflix's successful productions increased by +1. If I evaluate the year 2023 in terms of Netflix, I must say that they had some pretty good movies this year. If I were to choose the best of them, I would have to strain my memory quite a bit.

Of all the characters in Locked In, Lina (played by Rose Williams) was my favorite, both for the role she plays and for the way she is always at the forefront of the film's story.

In terms of her connection with the other characters in the house that works like a criminal organization, sometimes joining them but eventually separating herself from them, Rose Williams gave a near-perfect acting performance. I can say that she added the most value to the movie.

As a viewer, it should not be my fault if I do not consider the character of Nurse Mackenzie (played by Anna Friel), who is very much in the plot of the movie, as one of the three best characters of the movie.

It was a bit strange to see a character who was featured prominently in the plot, who should have appeared more in the movie and been very influential in the story, passively positioned as the one who helps to solve the mystery.

I recommend the movie to anyone who likes #thriller and #mystery genres. It has an excellent storyline in terms of fluidity and the surprise at the end is worth seeing.

  2. Locked In 2023|| Beyond Confinement.@wongi931d

I took a glance at the title of the movie and I was transported to three years ago during the lockdown. I do not know about the rest of the world but the lockdown was a really terrible period for me.So many plans tarnished, hopes shattered and lives changed. It was chaos, so to say.

    Encierro-846133689-large.jpg

Source Many people who made it out of that period usually look back with so much regret but they forget the fact that many didn't even make it out with them. This in itself is a blessing. It got to a point when I thought the world was ending soon. The trumpet would be sounded and everything would end.

This was a major reason why I didn't want to see the movie Locked In initially,–the title. It already sounded like it was going to be doom-filled, just the same way the lockdown felt to many people.

    About The Movie

Locked in revolves around a newlywed–Lina– who seemed fulfilled at first but whose fulfilment soon changed to unhappiness. Her cold-hearted rich mother-in-law didn't make things any easier for her, contributing actively to her unhappiness.

Locked in is a mystery, thriller, suspense, horror film directed by Noir Wazzi. Released on the first of November, 2023, the movie spans for an hour and thirty-seven minutes. An hour plus of thrills.

I can say for a fact the movie director paid special attention to the 'suspense' part of this movie. Right from the start, viewers were left with so many questions. What was happening? How did we get here? Where did it all go wrong?

    [Source](https://youtu.be/y6a3yXfMEJg?si=Qs0pzK7BsOr7obhR)

    cast

    Fine Cole as Jamie

Jamie was an epileptic patient with a bunch of other illnesses. He got married to a loving and compassionate wife–Lina– who made him feel whole. Their love story was a really adorable one.

Jamie had a mom who was somewhat nonchalant. All he ever craved for was his mother's love but his mom was never in the mood to show this love.

In the end, things went south and Jamie began to lose it. However, he was a calm and easy going person so there was less violence and more verbal battles on his part.

Rose Williams As Lina Lina looked like someone who genuinely deserved a good life because of the qualities she possessed.

Lina just married Jamie, the supposed love of her life but she soon realized that marital life she had was different from what she expected. A clearly demonstration of ' you have your plans and life had it's plans too'.

She was an embodiment of perseverance, forbearance and compassion. A really admirable and imitation-worthy character in my opinion.

    Fanke Janssen as Katherine

Katherine was Jamie's mom and Lina's mother in law. She had a 'cinderalla and the step mother's kind of relationship with Lina. We all know that when mother's in law do not like you, living around them or worse, with them, because the hardest thing you'd do.

Katherine was more interested in maintaining her wealth and she could literally do anything to achieve this.

    Alex Hassle as Doctor Lawrence

I saw Dr. Lawrence as one of the pretty actors but once his role started unveiling slowly, I had a change of mind.

Lawrence was a certified doctor but chose to be a fallmily doctor. Towards the beginning of the movie, he was very logical and said things that made very much sense. For instance, he made me remember one of my resolutions for this year 'go out more often'. A resolution that I went back on without a second thought.

    My Opinion

This was a really subtle movie with a good but somewhat expected ending. You know when you feel like something is going to happen or you feel like a movie would end one kinda way but what you do not know is how? That is exactly how I felt.

Somewhere along the line, I felt like I had already seen this movie, when I in fact hadn't. I feel like the movie would have been better if a little bit more effort was added to it.

On the other hand, the actors were great. They acted out their roles pretty well and I would like to give them accolades for that. I can only imagine how much effort they put into making the plot a reality.

    Recommendation.

I would gladly recommend this piece to anyone. If you're not so much of a movie freak or maybe you're taking a break from very serious horror movies, you should see this piece. It would be worth your will if you ever decide to see it.

However, I'd give it a 5/10 judging from the fact that I didn't even know it was a horror movie till the final scenes. This in itself is a good and a bad thing.

  3. Dark And Suspenseful || Review Of Locked In (2023)@kemmyb940d

    A love triangle, a murder…but who's the murderer?

    ![divider curl .webp](https://img.blurt.world/blurtimage/kemmyb/a75ed810b8aaff74d2505ddf85186840400c52a1.webp)

Famke Janssen has always had my attention ever since her impressive role as Jean Grey/Phoenix in the X-Men film series and the horror series, Hemlock Grove. Seeing her on this film's poster was the encouragement I needed to see it. The other two actors flanking her are not familiar to me though they have appeared in some films that I've seen. Let's get into the review then.

Locked In (2023) is a Netflix psychological thriller about a widow and ex-actress, Katherine (played by Famke Janssen), living in a remote countryside mansion called Rowling. She adopts her friend's daughter, Lina (played by Rose Williams), who becomes good friends with her stepson, Jamie. When Lina and Jamie are adults, they get married which angers Katherine.

    https://youtu.be/ANsuMISTZQo?si=pGF-fM0D8m8HE7GUSource: YouTube

Then Katherine gets into a terrible car accident, is taken to the hospital and diagnosed as 'locked in her body'. One of her eyes is swollen shut while the other is open but unresponsive. A neurological nurse, Mackenzie (played by Anna Friel), takes up the task of nursing Katherine back to health and also getting information about the accident.

The presence of Lina who watches Katherine and the nurse's every move makes Mackenzie believe that Katherine's injuries were no ordinary accident. Will this nurse succeed in knowing who the real victim and villain are?

    Review

From the first scene, suspense and tension set the stage for the drama and thriller that follows. The plot of this film—two ladies of the mansion in love with a man who is bent on destroying them both to get his hands on their wealth—is a familiar one and predictable yet it's the love triangle that adds an unexpected twist.

    IMG_20231201_154749.jpg

    IMG_20231201_154717.jpg

The storytelling is not bad in my opinion. I enjoy the gothic feel of the film and how most of the scenes are drenched in darkness and rain. It gives a melancholy and spooky vibe about the mansion and the people living in it.

The area I would fault is the cinematography and editing. Many flashbacks try to fill in the gaps of the mystery surrounding Katherine's accident yet the editing is terribly done. It's a bit difficult to sort out at first but later on, it becomes clear. Also, the character development is not so good. With these few characters, it shouldn't be so hard to tell their backstories neatly.

The cast's performance is great. I trust Famke Janssen to do an excellent job and she did. Her role as the angry widow, ex-actress who's out of jobs and mother to Jamie and Lina is believable. Rose Williams is also impressive in her role and reminds me of Alicia Vikander. I think they share similarities in their look and acting.

Anna Friel is fantastic as Nurse Mackenzie and her English accent sweet to my ears but I feel she deserves better. She should have been given more to do rather than confined to simply being a nurse and working to piece together the mystery.

Overall, Locked In is not bad but it's not great either. I love gothic movies and this one gave me the thrill, but I wanted more. The film could be better and that's the area the filmmakers fall short. If you're a fan of gothic thrillers, then you'll like this one for a one-time viewing only.

    ***

    ENGLISH VERSION

Hello my people of #MoviesAndTVShows! I hope you had an excellent time, around here we are already on the last day of November and I wanted to say goodbye to recommend you a high-quality cinematic installment. It's a movie called Locked In or Encierro in Spanish.

    𝕃𝕠𝕔𝕜𝕖𝕕 𝕀𝕟

    **Source**

If you are one of those people who like suspense, drama but especially psychological suspense, the kind that makes the viewer draw their conclusions and each one of them is valid, this movie is for you.

I usually watch the movie trailer if the synopsis catches my attention but doesn't tell me anything. And that's what I did in this case. However, the movie was nothing like I imagined and turned out to be much better than I expected. So I leave the trailer at the end in case you decide to watch it.

    **Source**

The actress working here as Co-Starring, I think many may recognize her more as Jean Grey in X-Men (the first movie). She is none other than Famke Janssen.

And this is one of the things I liked most about the film, the cast is small, the film takes place in two locations relatively, you could say it's low budget but it's very well crafted and the plot was carried out spectacularly.

    **Source**

When I started watching it, I had the idea that Famke Janssen was the villain of the story, and she is so good at these evil roles that I love watching her act. She is a great actress. But in this movie, not everything is what it seems. For her part, the main character, Rose Williams shows a suspicious attitude that intrigued me throughout the film.

But let me tell you a little bit about it. The movie tells the story of a woman who suffered an "accident" and the doctor assigned to help her in her recovery is determined to find out what happened to her patient, who is in a coma and, little by little, discovers that what happened to her patient was more than a simple misfortune and hides many secrets.

So you could say it's a movie with a somewhat hackneyed plot, but still good plots, but as I said, the movie takes an unexpected turn and what seemed like an obvious thing to happen, doesn't happen.

    **Source**

A story that is full of intrigue, drama, psychological suspense, tragedy, death, and a love triangle, which evolves in such a way that the denouement of the film is unexpected. I say this because one does not know what to expect from the characters. My critical eye for deciphering who the villain is has failed me completely.

    **Source**

I want to recommend it because it keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is going to happen next, how it will end and also you have to be attentive to everything the main characters say. One scene in particular caught my attention the most because it made me draw a conclusion that surprised me a lot.

Although at the end of the film, it leaves a bad taste, because the confinement of the characters does not have so much to do with a room, a house or a small area. It refers more to mental confinement, where a person allows himself to be controlled by another to the point of being manipulated and not having a life of his own as it should be.

    **Source**

I liked it and I would see it again another time. I included it in my list of good movies of 2023 and I give it a score of 8/10 or ⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5 since the ending left me a little bad. You can enjoy this film on Netflix with your good ration of popcorn. I can only tell you that it's from me:

  5. Shattered Reflections: Locked In Film Review@olujay944d

What happens when you do something wrong and try to cover it? A chain of similar events of increasing complexity tends to follow unless the right thing is done to prevent that. The 2023 psychological thriller film Locked In tells a story that reflects on rivalry, infidelity, betrayal, and murder.

    Locked In_20231127_225349_0000.jpg

Our actions and words towards people have a way of reverberating in their minds. And the effect thereon can influence their perceptions and decisions towards us. It takes some level of introspection to break the cycle of negative consequences that may follow from acting wrongly.

Emotions are powerful, and being consumed by them can be dangerous. The thoughts we harbour have a way of coming to life if they persist. "As a man thinketh, so he is," a phrase that buttresses how our thought processes eventually define us and drive us to act accordingly.

Katherine wakes from a coma but is unable to communicate. She is helped by a nurse who tries to uncover the cause of her predicament and figures from Katherine's blinking that she was involved in a murder. Only Lina, her daughter-in-law, who appears to be in a loveless marriage, seems to have the answers.

    divider4.png

Locked In portrays the cause and effect of actions and the collosal effect of neglecting repercussions that may follow the negative ones, reflecting on being overly locked in deep in our emotions and consumed by them.

MOVIES & TV SHOWS BY OLUJAY.gif

The trailer for this film was sufficient to get my attention. The idea of a mysterious murder attempt and the concept of the victim being unable to tell her story due to the aftereffects of the murder attempt piqued my interest.

I really wanted to know just how the murder was staged, the person behind it, and more importantly to me, the story that would unfold at the unveiling of it all.

The first few minutes into the film held up that energy from the trailer, but it wasn't long after that that my enthusiasm began to wane. What I had expected was not what I was watching. At that point, I began to write the film off. I think that most people may become uninterested in this valley.

With a little bit of faith, I hoped that the narrative would change, and so I continued. Eventually, things picked up again after a long while into the film when there was a different murder, and I sat up to savour the rest of the drama.

    IMG_20231127_225617.jpg

Evaluating the entire story's depth, I would say that there wasn't that much to it other than the tension I felt between the characters of the film. Their dialogues weren't anything near comical for the most part, which I didn't quite enjoy. The extremes of emotions, however, were quite endearing to enjoy.

When the "big reaval" happened, it wasn't at all surprising, as obvious hints played out quickly enough. I found entertainment in the highlight of the film anyway, when all hell broke loose.

There were only five characters in this film. And there were not many settings used. I had never seen the actors in any film before, but that didn't matter at all as I considered their performances to be alright and nothing particularly special about them.

    divider4.png

Locked In gets intriguing at some points, compensating for the slow pace for most of the beginning, but it could have been much more fulfilling with a more dramatic, yet thoughtful storyline and entertaining dialogues. It managed to suffice for an okay film, with some thrills delivered.

I would only tell people about this film with side notes that it may not feel that great, especially at the beginning, but it is an overall enjoyable film with what it has to offer, and if one doesn't think much about its flaws.

I'll give this film a rating of 6/10.

  6. Locked In || Strung Tight, Craving Freedom@jhymi944d

It may come as a surprise, or not. I bet a few people know that I stay away from anything remotely related to the horror genre. This specifically means, that horror books, articles and especially films, are very much not my cup of tea.

What a lot of people may not know, is that I also don’t like thrillers. Like the ones packed with nerve-racking suspense that makes your heart thump in a staccato beat, your adrenaline is high and your eyes are bulging out of your sockets(at least for me), but it’s all just a film. And yeah, I don't like them as well.

However, when I stumbled on this movie, I couldn’t look away. I’m not a fan of watching trailers before I see the actual film but I read a bit of the synopsis and I was hooked. I knew it would be a twist from the light, easy plot lines that I’ve been watching recently. So when I clicked on play, I was fully prepared to be swept away. And that’s exactly what happened.

    Locked In (2023)

The movie, directed by Nour Wazzi, begins with a nurse reading the alphabet to someone who seems incapable of moving. She reads these letters from a transparent board in a way that makes us understand in a few seconds that she’s trying to elicit some form of response from this patient with the way the patient blinks when some letters are called, or is it getting information? When she hits the third letter, she gasps.

    “Someone tried to murder you?”

The movie makes use of in finis res plot technique, starting the narration from the end and then to the beginning. After Nurse Mackenzie, a neuro-clinical nurse in charge of Katherine, the patient, is done examining her, she meets Lina, adopted daughter and daughter-in-law Katherine and after explaining the situation of Katherine, boiling down to being in a vegetative state, she asks Lina to tell her Katherine’s story. And that’s where it begins.

Lina moves into the Rowling Manor to live with Katherine after her mother, Katherine’s childhood friend, dies. Katherine takes custody of Lina and becomes her legal guardian. But this gorgeous, bubbling actress has the rug swept from under her feet when her husband dies leaving the entirety of his wealth to Jamie, her stepson. And nothing at all for her.

Young Lina does all in her power to please Katherine and make her love her by taking care of Jamie, who’s sickly and prone to seizures so that Katherine can have a free life. Katherine appreciates this and plans a meeting with a movie director for her big comeback into the movie industry, leaving Lina and Jamie in the manor. The two, that night, promise to protect and always be there for each other.

Time passes and there’s a shift. Jamie and Lina have grown to be dependent in some way on each other. Their bond grows tremendously and they tie the knot much to the displeasure of Katherine who now sees Lina as a scheming gold-digger trying to usurp her position as lady of the manor. She doesn’t hide her mean words and Jamie, in a bid to punish her for stealing the spotlight at his wedding, falls into a fit of seizures.

This is where we meet Dr. Robert, Jamie’s doctor. He shows concern towards Lina and encourages her to live her life freely and have fun. Lina, unwittingly moved by someone dangling the promise of freedom to her, falls for the Doctor’s charms and soon enough, they begin to have an affair.

However, as the story continues, the doctor’s particular interest in Lina proves to be more than meets the eye. In an enrapturing plot of twists and turns, mistakes begin to be made and secrets begin to uncover in an excitingly devastating way for the family. The pressure mounts to a boiling point until it.... tips over.

    Review and Rating

I don’t know much about the director of this movie but because of how stellar this was to me, I looked her up. There was a lot that impressed me about this movie. I had high hopes and I wasn’t disappointed at all. First off, I love plots that aren’t chronological. Stories that begin from the middle, or better still from the end are much more appealing to me than the linear plots that run from the beginning to the end. So, the fact that this movie started the way it did was already a plus for me.

There was wonderful character development. Building from the protagonist, her life and her story. As I’ve watched a lot of mid films recently, I can’t begin to emphasize how necessary it is for the characters to be well developed so that we can be immersed in the emotions, feel with them, laugh with them, cry with them. And this movie, for the most part, did justice to that.

It may or may not be a big point but I think the characterization in this movie was apt. Great actors were chosen to deliver and they interpreted their roles with finesse. As a point of note, it’s always a secret delight to me when a character who is introduced to us as she’s young becomes grown and the character used has similar physical features of, in essence, looks like the younger version. It’s a teensy detail that may not be talked about a lot but many of us look forward to that blend. Every good movie pays attention to details like that. And I like that Locked In wasn’t an exception.

On the point of pacing, it gave this slow-burn kind of feeling that I look forward to, in books and movies. They let us assimilate what was going on in a way that wasn’t a drag and also wasn’t rushed. I followed steadfastly every scene for loopholes in that regard and I was gratefully, disappointed. Although it felt rushed at some point and looked like everything was going too fast, it was at necessary points in the movie, where anything other than that would make the film considerably unsatisfactory.

I may be tempted to gush about this movie a lot so I’ll stop now and just say that it was refreshing. Do I admit to screaming one or two times, yes I do. I just couldn’t help it and I may have shut out the sound a couple of times as well but that goes to show that the genre -thriller- was adequately embodied in a way that was believable enough and left me with a pleasant sigh in the end. I’ve finally watched something worthwhile. Giving this movie a resounding 8.5 out of 10. And I recommend it as well to any person looking for a refreshing thriller with good storyline.

My own essence, my own frenzy and the dispute is still denoted on the same level. A single outrage, a single fact and an anomalous ruse is what can be described of this trending film on Netflix. Murder? Yes. Sweet or subtle? Both, without a doubt.

This is not a film that will drive you crazy. Rather, it will help you stay calm, patient and keep you entertained. It is much, it is little and yet abundant. It has very solid thinking, decent acting and a somewhat solid plot. How solid? That depends on many variations, but not on the impressions you may notice when playing this production.

Locked In has a running time of 1 hour and 37 minutes. A good thing if you want to see something short like me. I can't deny that my decision to see it was instigated by the initial premise of the trailer. I didn't play the trailer in its entirety, let alone read the synopsis, meaning I knew nothing about this production. It was a gamble without a doubt.

The plot of the production is simple, a young girl is adopted, the family that receives her has a distortion, the one who claims to be her mother does not love her, and she falls in love with the boy who is technically her brother. The latter is very daring in this production.

Watching this I noticed a deep critique of social issues, plot coherence and the possibility of it happening in reality. In perspective, anything is possible.

The film goes a little further, the boy who is the brother of the protagonist has had a deadly disease since he was a child (I will omit what it is). This disease is chaotic, it practically doesn't allow him to live. The peculiar thing is that he chains his sister, marries her and everything is kept under the context that he inherited his father's fortune. The mother can't touch a penny, let alone the mansion.

In the acting cast is Famke Janssen, who has acted in productions such as X-men (I remember I was the only one in my family watching this). Famke Janssen played the role of Katherine, the mother of the main characters, the one who was in a coma and unable to speak after a tragic accident. Is she really one?

The lead role of the heartbroken, oppressed woman who cannot escape was played by actress Roger Williams (her character was that of Lina). The performance was rather simple, basic, and unconvincing. I think there was a lot missing.

Finn Cole played the sick boy, i.e. Jamie. The only thing relevant to his performance was seeing him lying on the floor several times, or his fateful end. There wasn't much relevance to the story.

I can't pass up the character of actor Alex Hassell as Doctor Lawrence. He is definitely one of those that you either loathe or loathe when you see him. Disgusting, the doctor is that kind of person who hides who he is, what he wants and who is willing to do anything to get rich.

When I finished watching the film, I noticed that its genre is suspense, but in my opinion it is more similar to Psychological Thriller. There is an ongoing manipulation, albeit a very basic and simplistic one. Nothing to shock or surprise you. If I compare Locked In with God's Crooked Lines, it is far below the latter.

The message of the film is a nice one, not everything you believe is what it seems. Every mother loves in her own way and that is what happens with Katherine. Another message that is left open is that of actions, you are the only one responsible for what you do and therefore you must face the consequences.

Infidelity does not bring happiness, rather it makes a person unhappy and unable to escape the clutches of what they have done. Betrayal means doom and also the loss of the person who really loves you.

The suspense of the plot is poor, I think it lacks a lot of it to categorise it in this way, as I quoted above. In conclusion, it's a film you can watch, analyse and it will cover your boredom at the time. Can you remember it? I don't think so.

What is the reason for infidelity? Why Jamie's fateful end? How come Katherine can't speak? Why does a nurse start the plot? What does this strange production hide? The chains are hoisted on those who have never wanted to fly or make their freedom their own. I'll read you in the comments.

¿Puedes recordarla? No creo.

  8. LOCKED IN (2023) NETFLIX MOVIE 🎥@josehany966d

Today in my free time I decided to watch a movie. So I went to Netflix and I realized that having several apps I always go to Netflix, it's like my safe place for movies, but I have to admit that Prime and AppleTV also have very good movies and series. Anyway, what I was really getting at, is that I thought it would be a bit boring but it kept me entertained, so it is valid to share it here.

LOCKED IN It's the title of the movie, it's quite new and I think it came out on Netflix on November 1st. Yes, recently. And the best of all is that there was a fairly well-known face and it is Famke Janssen and I know that many of you will remember her from the X-MEN movies

This is a psychological thriller about a patient who wakes up from a coma and a nurse who wants to help her find out what really happened to her.

I thought the movie was good, it starts with Katherine's character having some kind of accident and one thing leading to another, the next thing we know she wakes up from a coma and is trying to communicate with a nurse through winks.

After this, the film transports us to a flashblack of Katherine's life where three more characters intervene: Lina, daughter of Katherine's best friend who unfortunately dies and now becomes her adopted daughter. Jamie, Katherine's stepson who is sick and suffering from seizures. Robert, the family doctor.

The mystery of the film is knowing what happened to Katherine but as we watch the development we encounter so many things, we discover rivalry, infidelities, betrayals and murders. It's that kind of movie where you say, I think I already know what's happening here, but suddenly you feel like something doesn't quite fit and in the end it's like you see it coming but you didn't see it coming. AHH!! And you ended up enjoying a movie.
