All movies with love and romance stories for me are always welcome, no matter how predictable they can be for the most part, what really matters is that they keep you believing in that real and beautiful love that is forever. But as every story is different even if they have coincidence in terms of development, that’s what catches you, the way love stories are told.

When I saw the trailer for this movie, I loved it, then I realized that it doesn't leave much to the imagination so when you see it you are already getting a little summary of what you are going to find, anyway it looked very fresh, it is set in a date that many people like as Christmas, and although it has nothing Christmasy the lights in the scenes look very nice and bring romance to the story.

The main character is Priyanka Chopra, Indian actress who was Miss World in 2000, so you can imagine how beautiful she is and Sam Heughan, actor of the series Outlander who is also quite handsome. It also has a special appearance by Nick Jonas and Canadian singer Céline Dion. What more romantic than her.

Mira (Priyanka Chopra), lost the love of her life in a fatal accident, the man who complemented her and with whom she felt totally herself, it has been two years since that event and Mira has not been able to overcome her loss, she has spent this time at her parents’ house depressed, but the time has come to move on with her life, this situation has also affected her inspiration and her work life, she needs to retake the reins of her life even though she still feels sad.

When she meets a friend who has gone through the same situation and recommends her to talk to her dead boyfriend over a glass of wine, Mira goes further, she starts sending romantic messages to her dead boyfriend’s phone without knowing that the number has been reassigned.

Mira in her search for a new life, tries to start having dates that she finds through apps. This is a pretty funny scene because her date turns out to be Nick Jonas who is her husband in real life, but here he is a shallow young man who is just looking for entertainment and tries to win her over for one night, but when she doesn’t accept, that’s the end of the date and Nick’s participation in the movie.

Rob (Sam Heughan), on the other hand, is so disappointed that he feels love is dead to him and doesn’t exist. He works for a music magazine where he is given a new corporate phone. Rob, is assigned to do a story on Celine Dion who will be starting her new music tour, this does not please him as the singer’s music to him, is too cheesy and the moment he is going through is not the right one. After a rocky start with the artist, Céline becomes a kind of spiritual guide who helps him to trust again and go in search of a new love.

Now guess which phone Mira’s love messages came to? Yes, Rob’s new phone. At first he doesn’t know what to do, whether to answer or ignore, but the messages are loaded with so many feelings that it awakens something he thought was dead and he prefers to keep receiving them without saying anything. But he doesn’t want to be left with the intrigue of knowing who is sending these messages, so he begins to follow the steps that the messages indicate until he meets Mira.

The development follows a sequence that may be the common denominator of this type of genre. The couple meets, falls in love, goes through a moment of conflict due to some event such as lies or others and then comes the reconciliation, where all misunderstandings are cleared up and everyone is happy.

Priyanka’s performance, I really liked it for a moment I connected with her and the pain for her dead boyfriend, it must be very hard to go through something like that and start all over again. Sam Heughan was also pretty good although it’s not a performance I’m going to remember for a long time, but I saw chemistry between the leads and I liked Rob’s smitten face just by looking at Mira.

As I said, this romantic movie doesn’t bring anything new and innovative, it’s a simple movie where a famous artist and her music are used in the soundtrack, something that can be beneficial knowing the romanticism of Céline Dion. As for her performance it was acceptable, she shared some anecdotes with her late husband comparing Mira’s story with his, so I don’t think she was acting much in those moments.

    RNFetchBlobTmp_6u57y3mg8c3dgss1czn9qj.jpg

  2. "Love Again" - 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒚 𝑯𝒂𝒔 𝑨 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏 - Movie Review@merit.ahama1037d

With the title, I'd conclude that the movie would be just another story about love but the characters got me hanged on what storyline the movie has for it's viewers. Seeing the special character (Celine Dion) who I've been a fan of because of her songs, that got be hooked on seeing this movie until the very end.

I love the movie, the storyline is different, the characters were good at their roles and I love the comedy too.

A 1 hr 44 mins 2023 Rom-Com movie starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sam Heughan and Celine Dion (the main characters)

The movie is about a lady who lost her boyfriend and couldn't find it easy to forget him. After two years, she is still sad about losing her love so early. After an advice from a friend who lost his wife too, she began to send texts to her dead boyfriend's phone number unknown to her that the number have been reassigned to a new owner.

What would you do if you just start getting texts from a stranger but they seem to be deep texts that you connect with?

Well, our male lead began to fall in love with whoever was behind those texts as he felt she would understand him better than the others especially with what he went through. Rob Burns (Sam Heughan) also loved a lady but got hurt when she stood him two days to their wedding. It broke him so much that he began to doubt what love is until those texts.

From just reading texts, Rob Burns became curious to put a face to those texts. From sending those text, Mira Ray began to open up a little and free herself from being sad.

Would that be enough? How did they meet? What happened when the lady found out someone has been reading her texts? You'll need to see this interesting movie to know that.

The role of Celine Dion in the movie is admirable, I love how original her story is as she guides Rob Burns to finding love with his texter. Rob and Celine didn't start on a right note but that made their relationship even more beautiful as Celine comes off as one who would help anyone in terms of love. I laughed when Rob asked if Celine believed in what she sings in her songs, Celine gave a response that has stick to my head.

Featuring five of her songs in the movie, Celine Dion also made a good appearances in the movie. Getting in contact with Mira Ray was a memorable scene too. I love how they made the role of Celine Dion sophisticated all through the movie.

And I like how a lot of the characters sang some lines of Celine Dion songs, the movie is about loving again and then there are the songs about love by the one artist I feel understands love so well and uses her lyrics right.

If I'm to give more personal thoughts on this movie, it would be directed to the comedy aspect. Celine Dion is a funny character and same goes to one of Ron's Co worker and Mira's sister. They did made me enjoy the scenes they played in.

As for the overall performance of the movie, I think they did well in giving the storyline what it says. Also succeeding in sharing an amazingly beautiful love story which is the essence of the movie. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the almost obsessive character Mira showed about her dead boyfriend but I think that brought her to her new and better love.

I'll rate the movie a 9/10 and I'll recommend you see it if you haven't yet.

  3. Almost A Masterpiece —Review Of Love Again (2023)@kemmyb1125d

    Grief, love and second chances

    ![divider curl .webp](https://img.blurt.world/blurtimage/kemmyb/a75ed810b8aaff74d2505ddf85186840400c52a1.webp)

The popular day set aside to celebrate love—Valentine's Day—is past until next year, of course, yet imagine my surprise when I see the trailer of a fine romance-comedy featuring a star cast: Priyanka Chopra, Sam Heughan and the iconic Celine Dion! Recently I read that Dion cancelled her concert tour because of health issues which is sad. Seeing her in this movie fanned the flames of love I've always had for her music. I believe most romantics will agree with me.

Love Again (2023) is a rom-com of second chances. The opening scene reveals Mira Ray (played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas), a children’s book illustrator, meeting her boyfriend, John (played by Arinze Kene). They kiss and she says goodbye only to lose him in a car accident right before her eyes. She is devastated and heartbroken. Two years later, John's phone is recycled and given to Rob Burns (played by Sam Heughan), a music critic for a media organisation as a work phone.

To help with her grief, Mira begins to talk to John by sending messages on the phone. Rob reads them and gradually begins to fall in love with the writer. He finds out about her love for Orpheus And Eurydice, and goes to the opera a few times until he finally meets her. They start to date and spend the night together. Mira discovers that Rob had John's phone all along and had read her messages. Will she forgive Rob for lying to her?

    Review

The plot of this film is lovely and enchanting. It follows the usual route of romcoms but there's more romance than comedy. It makes us root for Mira's love connection with Rob Burns while also wondering what it could have been like with John, her ex-boyfriend.

The cast of this film is impressive. I am enthralled by the duo performance of Priyanka Chopra and Sam Heughan because they are fascinating together. Seeing them on the film poster, I wondered how their chemistry would be. It turned out a little awkward at first but in no time, they put forward their acting skills and made their audience fall in love with them.

I saw a bit of the same awkwardness with Priyanka and Arinze Kene at the beginning, most likely because Arinze was thrust into the film just like that. He already existed and sadly viewers did not get to know him. The first scene was about him and Mira, then an accident happens and he dies.

Priyanka did a great job filling her viewers in on Arinze's character with her grief performance. It was excellent. I'm sure like most people that saw this film, it was Celine Dion's character that was the most compelling. I loved Priyanka since the spy thriller series, Quantico and Sam Heughan from the historical drama, Outlander. But I was more interested in the iconic singer.

Celine Dion plays herself as she prepares to go on a new tour. Her interaction with Rob Burns, a music critic, is interesting because she tells a story that some of her fans may not know about her marriage with her real-life husband, René. I don't know if the things she said in the movie are true but Celine portrays the part of a woman who truly loved. Through her experience, she passes words of wisdom and advice to Rob Burns and Mira Ray, leading to their love connection. Those scenes are sweet and heartfelt.

The only part I would fault this film for is the fast pace. The character development is great but the storytelling is a bit hurried. There are scenes where it seems the cast is a bit awkward with each other. The chemistry between the two leads would have fallen short or been sloppy if not for their acting skills.

I'm not sure if it's the time allotted for film production but everything feels rushed. For a movie that features a popular singer whom the world relates with love, I believe the director and screenwriters should have devoted more time and resources to ensuring it turns out perfectly. If they did, this film could have been a classic and rated side by side with the popular, The Notebook.

I very much enjoyed the soundtracks which were mainly Celine Dion's love songs. There was also the feature of the opera, Orpheus And Eurydice by Christoph Willibald Gluck. The visuals and editing are not bad and the way they interlaced Priyanka and Sam's scenes with the soundtracks is delightful.

Overall, Love Again is a delightful film worth watching. I'll rate it 3.9 stars out of 5.
