La originalidad en el cine es algo que podemos decir que es escaso de ver y creo que es más evidente cuando nos referimos a producciones las cuales están realizadas a gustar a una gran cantidad de público; eso hace de que exista un patrón de base la cual puede ser usada en varios proyectos y desde ahí se puede (o no) crear algo nuevo; esto es un tema recurrente cuando vemos a productoras estrenar films en dónde de manera inmediata relacionamos con una película en específico y con respecto a esto, personalmente no le prestó mucha atención a la falta de originalidad en la base de una historia porque lo que más me atrae es como se desarrolla esa historia; un claro ejemplo es la película a la que en esta oportunidad hago reseña y que reúne el terror y ciencia ficción en dónde la protagonista es una muñeca asesina.

Originality in cinema is something that we can say is rare to see and I think it is more evident when we refer to productions which are made to appeal to a large audience; that makes that there is a base pattern which can be used in several projects and from there you can (or not) create something new; This is a recurring theme when we see production companies releasing films where we immediately relate to a specific movie and with respect to this, I personally do not pay much attention to the lack of originality in the basis of a story because what attracts me most is how the story develops; a clear example is the film that this time I review and that brings together horror and science fiction where the protagonist is a killer doll.
Blumhouse Productions es una verdadera máquina para crear films con un potencial enorme de hacer dinero rápido y hasta crear inesperadas franquicias; pueden tomar una simple idea y promocionarla tan bien que la convierte en un éxito y por eso creo que es una de las mejores productoras de cine en la actualidad; seguramente no todos los films que estrenan son un éxito, pero hay muchos films que cumplen su cometido en agradar al público y por eso ganan una buena cantidad de dinero a pesar del poco costo de su producción; un nuevo ejemplo del trabajo de esta productora es su primer estreno de este año, "M3GAN", el cual relata la historia de "Gemma" quien es una experta en robótica y trabajan para una importante compañía de juguetes de alto nivel en dónde actualmente se siente frustrada por no demostrar su verdadero potencial; un día recibe una trágica noticia en dónde desde ese momento deberá ser la guardiana de su sobrina de 9 años de edad, "Cady" y desde ese momento, su vida la cual estaba enfocada en su trabajo cambiará radicalmente por tener una nueva e inesperada responsabilidad, pero lo que parecía ser algo malo, al final será una nueva oportunidad no solo para ayudarse a criar a su sobrina, sino para demostrar su verdadero potencial en la empresa, es por eso que Gemma crea a "M3GAN", una muñeca hecha para ser una compañera de por vida, un apoyo emocional, pero tal vez sea algo más, algo peor.
Blumhouse Productions is a real machine for creating films with a huge potential to make money fast and even create unexpected franchises; they can take a simple idea and promote it so well that it becomes a success and that's why I think they are one of the best film production companies today; surely not all the films they release are a success, but there are many films that do their job in pleasing the audience and that's why they make a good amount of money despite the low cost of their production; a new example of the work of this production company is their first release this year, "M3GAN ", which tells the story of "Gemma" who is an expert in robotics and works for an important high-level toy company where she currently feels frustrated for not showing her true potential; one day she receives a tragic news where from that moment she will have to be the guardian of her 9 years old niece, "Cady" and from that moment, her life which was focused on her work will change radically for having a new and unexpected responsibility, but what seemed to be something bad, in the end it will be a new opportunity not only to help her raise her niece, but to show her true potential in the company, that's why Gemma creates "M3GAN", a doll made to be a companion for life, an emotional support, but maybe it's something else, something worse.
El film fue dirigido por Gerard Johnstone, el cual esta es la segunda vez que cumple función como director en un largometraje; en mi opinión el trabajo es simple, correcto para lo que querían los productores y la verdad es que este director no arriesga en nada para crear muy buenas escenas de terror; no son buenas, son predecibles y hasta aburridas porque lamentablemente está película es extremadamente suave, no es gráfica y eso junto a escenas aburridas es lo que menos me gustó del film.
El guion realizado por Akela Cooper es sin ninguna duda lo mejor del film, es lo que me ha gustado porque es sumamente divertido; para mí es una sátira y crítica a la sociedad actual en varias cosas, en especial al uso desmedido por la tecnología y la manera de criar a los niños, existe otro tema importante lo cual es la responsabilidad de diferentes actos como es primeramente el cuidado de un niño; todo eso está muy marcado en este film de ciencia ficción y horror en dónde otras historias como "Frankenstein", "Robocop" y "Terminator" tiene su influencia en M3GAN. Me sorprende el ya haber visto tres films que cuentan con un guion realizado por Cooper y en dónde todos son muy divertidos, aunque en esta oportunidad debo decir que es el más inteligente.
The film was directed by Gerard Johnstone, which is the second time he is the director of a feature film; in my opinion the work is simple, correct for what the producers wanted and the truth is that this director does not risk anything to create very good horror scenes; they are not good, they are predictable and even boring because unfortunately this film is extremely soft, it is not graphic and that together with boring scenes is what I liked the least of the film.
The script by Akela Cooper is without any doubt the best of the film, it is what I liked because it is extremely funny; for me it is a satire and criticism of today's society in several things, especially the excessive use of technology and the way of raising children, there is another important issue which is the responsibility of different acts as is primarily the care of a child; all that is very marked in this science fiction and horror film where other stories like "Frankenstein", "Robocop" and "Terminator" have their influence in M3GAN. I am surprised to have already seen three films with a screenplay by Cooper and where all of them are very funny, although this time I must say that it is the most intelligent one.
No me equivoco al decir que esta película está protagonizada por dos futuras o actuales "Scream Queens" y es que tanto Allison Williams como Violet McGraw, han trabajado en otras producciones de terror; ambas actrices son reconocidas por sus famosos trabajos en "Get Out" y "The Haunting of Hill House". En esta película el trabajo de Allison como "Gemma" es adecuado; me gustó que su personaje no sea la típica mujer que deba hacerse fuerte para enfrentar un gran peligro; eso no existe en esta historia porque Gemma es una mujer independiente, inteligente y directa; eso lo interpreta muy bien está actriz porque tiene la actitud y la personalidad para hacerlo. Del trabajo de Violet puedo decir que es el que más me gustó; su interpretación de "Cady" es muy buena, ya que es la típica niña que no siente o demuestra apego a lo que en realidad importa y se relaciona más por cosas que pueden ser muy llamativas, pero a la vez vacía o reales; eso hace que sea un personaje distante, muy infantil, dependiente y agresivo; es perfecto para esta historia y está joven actriz lo hace bien. Haré una pequeña referencia a Amie Donald quien en su primer rol en un largometraje es la otra protagonista de la historia, "M3GAN"; esta también joven actriz tiene buenas escenas que se llevan a cabo en un pasillo; disfrute de esas escenas, en realidad de todo su trabajo, ya que este personaje me gustó mucho.
I am not wrong in saying that this movie stars two future or current "Scream Queens" and that is because both Allison Williams and Violet McGraw, have worked in other horror productions; both actresses are recognized for their famous works in "Get Out" and "The Haunting of Hill House". In this movie, Allison's work as "Gemma" is adequate; I liked that her character is not the typical woman who must become strong to face a great danger; that does not exist in this story because Gemma is an independent, intelligent and direct woman; this is played very well by this actress because she has the attitude and personality to do it. Of Violet's work I can say that I liked the most; her interpretation of "Cady" is very good, since she is the typical girl who doesn't feel or show attachment to what really matters and relates more for things that can be very striking, but at the same time empty or real; that makes her a distant, very childish, dependent and aggressive character; it is perfect for this story and this young actress does it well. I will make a small reference to Amie Donald who in her first role in a feature film is the other main character of the story, "M3GAN"; this also young actress has good scenes that take place in a hallway; I enjoyed those scenes, actually all her work, as I liked this character a lot.
Al momento de ver el trailer de M3GAN (me arrepiento de haberlo visto) pensé que está película sería "Malignant" o "Barbarian" de este año, mis expectativas estaban altas, pero al saber que recibiría una clasificación PG-13 sentí decepción porque sabía de qué estaría lejos de lo que esperaba de ver y es que está historia es perfecta para mostrar a un desenfreno de escenas llenas de terror, escenas gráficas y lamentablemente obtuvimos una en las cuales no se aprecia absolutamente nada, es como si Blumhouse se hubiera unido a Disney para hacer un especial de Toy Story de terror; eso es un gran fallo y lo que hizo que no disfrutara por completo de esta película; no critico la falta de originalidad porque está película tiene muy buena historia, justificada en varios aspectos y que sabe usar muy bien la ciencia ficción en su relato. A pesar de considerarla una película regular, es entretenida, tiene un excelente guion y adecuadas actuaciones y espero que en la secuela se pueda dar rienda a realizar mejores escenas de terror y que desarrollen aún más la historia de la dependencia de la tecnología en la crianza de los niños lo cual creo que es lo más terrorífico en el film.
When I saw the trailer for M3GAN (I regret having seen it) I thought this movie would be this year's "Malignant" or "Barbarian", my expectations were high, but when I found out it would receive a PG-13 rating I was disappointed because I knew it would be far from what I expected to see and this story is perfect to show a rampage of scenes full of terror, It's like Blumhouse teamed up with Disney to make a Toy Story horror special, that's a big flaw and what we got was a scene where you can't see anything at all; that is a big flaw and what made me not enjoy this movie completely; I do not criticize the lack of originality because this movie has a very good story, justified in several aspects and that knows how to use science fiction very well in its story. In spite of considering it a regular movie, it is entertaining, has an excellent script and adequate performances and I hope that in the sequel they can give free rein to make better horror scenes and develop even more the story of the dependence of technology in the upbringing of children which I think is the most terrifying thing in the film.
