  1. Bad characters in Mr. Robot: Fernando Vera@netflixr1649d

Keep in mind that this is completely my personal opinion. Mr. Robot is a series that has "kind of" held my attention but also one that I feel as though was dragged on too long and the latter seasons are a bit boring as it seems there really isn't much story left to tell when things get bogged down in backstory rather than progressing towards the final objective.

Although it won't be intentional there are likely spoilers ahead

    image.png src

In season one and to a lessor degree in season two, there is a real ambiance of mystery as it is quite difficult for anyone to really predict where the story is going. The big reveal at the end of season one as far as Christian Slater's character is concerned was a really clever move on the part of the writers and director, and even though it was strange and kind of difficult to believe, it had a sort of 6th Sense way about it in that up until that point we had never really noticed that lack of interaction that Mr. Robot actually has with any characters other than Elliot

    image.png src

I feel as though this was artfully done and at least for me, I had no idea that Mr. Robot was merely an alternate personality for Elliot until it was seriously put right in front of us and was obvious. I personally love it when directors are able to trick me and then a shocking moment happens to reveal something that was right in front of me but I never noticed just like with Bruce Willis' character in 6th Sense.

However, I really feel as though as the seasons carried on that this series went down a bad path of stretching the series out too much just like so many others have done in the past. In order to keep things fresh new characters have to be introduced and some of them were good, others were not so good. I think the worst character that we are introduced to in the series final season would be the Dominican drug-dealing gangster, Fernando Vera.

    image.png src

While he is considered a "main" character he isn't in much of the show until much later on. Vera is merely a drug dealer that gets Elliot and others certain prescriptions that first help Elliot work and later the drugs are used to keep Mr. Robot (Slater) out of Elliot's head. I don't know what inspired the writers to include him as a major character in season 4, but I feel it was a bad choice.

He and his two gangster friends come to the forefront in the latter episodes of season 4 and their entire presence is seriously unnecessary. We spend 1.5 episodes using them merely to bring out Elliot's difficult past with his father and I really think there could have been a lot of ways that this could have been handled better.

For one thing, I don't think that Elliot Villar's portrayal of Fernando Vera is a very realistic impersonation of a high-level gangster or even any living human being. His street-talk method of doing basically anything is over the top and while I have never been a gangster, I have a difficult time believing that anyone would follow him or look up to him as a leader yet that is exactly how he is presented in season 4.

    image.png src

I actually left the room during episode 7 or 8 I think it was where Fernando goes on this excessively long story about a character he calls "little bitch" and how this person had gotten fed up with bullies at a young age. I guess this is supposed to be a retelling of his own past but it also doesn't have much bearing on the actual main story and therefore it gets lumped into the "filler" section in my mind. Honestly, there are a number of ways that the true meaning behind the real "Mr. Robot" could have been brought to the forefront without involving this guy at all.

I don't want to call him a horrible actor, but I believe he was out of his depth in this role. I had never heard of Elliot Villar prior to this but as it turns out he is a stage actor and I guess that kind of makes sense about how his performance is so exaugurated because that is quite common with stage actors that try to get involved in TV and films.

I don't think I am alone in this feeling that unnecessary characters were introduced into the series in order to stretch it out over many seasons and if you look at the dramatic drop in viewership I think we can successfully discern that a lot of other people lost interest in the series altogether over time. This happened at the same time that Rami Malek's career was seriously taking off too. I guess he didn't have enough star-power to carry the show.

    image.png src

There was a bullshit explanation as to why they were wrapping the series up permanently after the 4th season but the real reason is probably because just over 400,000 viewers isn't enough to justify the existence of a large-scale production.

There are some good characters, even great characters that were introduced to keep the series going but the sad reality of this once great series is that they did the same thing that so many other series do: They kept it going too long and because of this the viewers wandered away. Why so many series do this remains a mystery to me because they don't benefit from it either. I think the producers should have seen the writing on the wall in season 2 when their viewership was nearly halved.

In a way I kind of feel bad for Elliot Villar because he might have thought this was his big break but in the end his portrayal of Fernando has more than likely hurt his career. Back to the stage with you I guess!

On a side note I can't in good faith recommend this series for anyone. It's entirely too long and if they had just kept it at 2 seasons the way it was looking like they might (and should have) it might have had a decent legacy. Greed has once again ruined a pretty fantastic story.

  2. The best part of Mr. Robot so far (SPOILERS)@netflixr1734d

I watched the first series of Mr. Robot years ago and I don't remember why, but I lost interest. I think it wasn't on Netflix at the time and I was torrenting everything at that point in my life. Therefore, watching anything was kind of a pain in the butt because it involved remembering what episode you were on, a USB stick, and other such stuff that really isn't that difficult but i am going to complain about anyway.

    Big Spoilers ahead!

I have thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Robot but as it gets towards the end of season 3 (which is where I am now) I see the series is kind of winding down and perhaps even running out of ideas. It's starting to get very ridiculous the way that all series that appear to be built to just go on forever and aren't based on any already existing story, tend to go.

    [src](https://techkalzen.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/mr-robot.jpg)

There have been a lot of good sequences in this series that lead to a "gotcha!" moment and these were really surprising such as when you find out that Eliot's father is actually a figment of his imagination towards the end of season 1. The best part of it in my mind happened in season 2 because they really make this entire sequence believable and when the big reveal happens towards the end it was just fantastic. It involves when Elliot has a new routine that keeps Mr. Robot, his father, from appearing in his life.

    image.png src

In his routine, his mother wakes him up early in the morning, and he goes and has breakfast with a friend of his friend, then goes to watch basketball where he routinely gets chatted up by a friendly guy named Ray (played by Craig Robinson, which is always a treat) and then later he goes to have the rest of his meals with the same friend he has breakfast with his friend Leon and then goes back to his mother's house at the end of each day where he records everything in his journal before going to sleep.

    image.png src

It is because of this routine that he is able to keep his father, Mr. Robot, from appearing until eventually it doesn't work anymore. Then a bizarre sequence occurs where some white supremacists corner him in an alleyway and beat him up because he owes them money for fucking something up by his hacking but then one of them pulls his pants down like he is going to rape Elliot. Which doesn't make a lot of sense given the context.

    image.png src

It is at this point that a big reveal unravels that has been going on for several episodes and after you see waht is going on it kind of makes you feel a little bit dopey for not realizing something was a bit unusual about his routine each and every day and this was a wonderful piece of storytelling on the part of the writers.

    image.png src

Turns out that Elliot is in prison and his routine of eating with the same person at the same time and going to the basketball court every day isn't a routine that he has prepared, it is one that is kind of enforced on him by virtue of the fact that he is in jail. The rest of the surroundings are just figment's of Elliot's imagination which at this point we, the audience are well aware is pretty powerful.

This all takes place in Season 2 across several episodes and I think it might be the highlight of the entire series for me thus far. I honestly had no idea what was really going on the entire time.

If you saw this I'd like to know your thoughts about it. In my mind season 2 was the best season and maybe the peaked too early because season 3 has been a bit of a letdown since 2 was so amazing.

I know there are only 4 seasons in total, so I guess I'll have to wait and see if they get good again!

  3. Análisis de la serie "Señor Robot"/Analysis of the "Mr. Robot" series@lumpymoon1748d

The world has always been dominated by the economy, finances, taxes, investments, in short, everything related to capital to sustain exports and imports that will help us survive. Unfortunately we all end up being slaves of our own economy (debts, mortgages, rents, etc.), as they say: tell me how is your financial state and I will tell you the way you like to spend.

Today I will talk about a series that works as a mirror at a personal and social level, realizing that the origin of all problems is precisely in the reflection of our mirror, but as every human being, we will never face that fact.

The story focuses on a young programming expert who is working in a well-known company that offers its services in cyber security. Dissatisfied with the tasks performed in his job, the skilled young man will seek new forms of entertainment and practice to implement his own skills.

Discovering the vulnerabilities of technology, the young programmer will take advantage of opportunities to get the dark side of any user within the internet. Either to get to know the people around him much better or simply to try to get people to be as honest as possible with themselves.

But the protagonist was still dissatisfied with the actions he was taking, he wanted to do something much more impactful that would change the course of society, leave a mark on each person so that they would remember him and feel the real social change. The problem was that he did not have the necessary support for his projects, at the same time he had a severe problem with the consumption of toxic substances, which caused an important and severe mental imbalance, but despite this, his capacity for analysis, intelligence and strategy, would come to balance it to perfection.

Based on his field study, the protagonist will discover the real social conflict at hand. What would happen if all your economic problems disappeared without a trace? It may sound tempting to think about it, but if the economy is considered the main base of any society, by disappearing it completely something will happen to the whole pyramid above it.

¿Will he end up being the bad guy in the series? That answer will be individual, based on what the series teaches us. You can be for or against his ideas, do something much better, avoid, modify or simply not care about others and go your own way. Personally I consider that the series has a message and an open interpretation, everything will depend on which side of the coin you identify with, how you handle the situation and whether or not you consider yourself a slave to finances.

Although it is too surprising to see how the protagonist executes his hacking techniques to achieve repentance as if he were an executioner; the true meaning here will depend on the perception used. For or against, you decide. I have yet to watch the second season of the series, but for the moment I remain neutral to the myriad possibilities where this extraordinary series may be headed.

    Atentamente: Lumpy :3

You will find the series within the Prime Video platform, it is not recent, but it does make you philosophize about your present and your future. Thanks for reading my post and see you next time.

    OPINION

Mr Robot is one of the best series of the decade, and not only I say it, it is considered by many as a series worth seeing and remembering, it was released in 2015 and its last season was launched last year 2019. I saw Mr Robot a few years ago but I put a break for being busy with the university, after seeing that its last season came out encouraged me to see it, as I could not remember all the events that happened I had to see it again, because to see this series You must have a clear mind because otherwise it will swallow you alive and you will have to see the whole series in one day.

It can be seen as a simple series of terrorist hackers, but it is much more than that, each season focuses on a peculiar way of narration and although the objective of the characters is the same in all four seasons it seems that they face something different in each episode. Mr Robot is an amazing little Pandora's box, when you open it you will only get chaos, stress, panic so that in the end hope comes and gives you a break.

The series has 45 chapters, 4 seasons and a mark in your soul that will last a lifetime, wanting to know more with each step that is taken, being amazed at the way things happen and how the past connects with the present, hackers, drugs, psychosis, terror, it goes beyond what you expect, this more than said but in the same way I will say that it is a totally recommended serie.

  5. Mr Robot - 408 Request Timeout: a "normal" episode but always great@serialfiller2404d

    Tunnel Wave.png

We leave behind a couple of episodes that we will remember for a long time. Different in style, united by an absurd quality of staging. A silent but adrenaline-filled episode in which not even a word was uttered, followed by a static, almost theatrical, episode with a single location to serve as a backdrop for a revelation we had been waiting for years and which came as a blow to the heart at its peak of an unforgettable ascending climax. The eighth episode of Mr. Robot's final season returns to run on "normal" tracks, although an episode in the Sam Esmail series may be called normal. Normal in his story, more linear than the others, and in style, here too less focused on aesthetics and technique and more on trying to be essential for the spectator at home. Even in a normal episode there is no lack of technical glimpses of Esmail, from a machine that rotates on the faces of the 3 women protagonists of at least half episode in close-ups on an increasingly convincing Rami Malek.

Elliot is called to face his ghosts. Reduced to a catatonic state by the shocking revelation of the last episode, he will need the help of his IO child to regain control. A necessary timeout, as the title suggests, to forgive himself and his alterego Mr. Robot, a paternal figure as a fundamental alternative to the survival of little Elliot. On the other hand, we are witnessing a completely psychological confrontation between Janice, Darlene and agent Di Pierro. The sacrifice (?) Of the latter could really be the last piece so that in these conclusive episodes we witness the final clash between the Deus / Dark Army / Whiterose and Mr.RoboT / Fuck Society / Elliot. Sam Esmail has shown us all his talent over the years. He doesn't need to prove anything. His unpredictability makes it difficult to imagine what the outcome of the battle could be, what the epilogue of the TV series he created could be. At this point the question is reversed: do we really want to know how it will end or will it be enough for us to still have some surreal episodes and exquisite workmanship like the latter to be satisfied?

  6. Mr Robot: 407 Proxy Authentication Required - Why this episode is a masterpiece@serialfiller2410d

    Tunnel Wave.png

The feeling is that we are underestimating too much the fact that a TV series like Mr. Robot is coming to an end. Sensation confirmed by the fact that in recent years we tend to forget the size of some TV series. Too much offer, too many new sensational products. If you think that this year we have had debut masterpieces like Watchman, Too Old too die young, Chernobyl, The Mandalorian and many other wonderful newcomers, you will understand for yourself that it is easy to forget about wonderful but older products. It happened with the conclusion of The Affair and The Deuce a few weeks ago. We are talking about a TV series that deserves to win a Golden Globe in its debut and another umpteenth amazing work by Simon and Pelecanos. 2 TV series that we will remember for life but whose final, whose final season has been little discussed and publicized. Perhaps Mr. Robot is also happening, yet here too we are discussing a product capable of making history, winning so many prizes and launching the career of Oscar-winning Rami Malek. Yet the final season of Mr Robot risks ending up at school over the years. It is extraordinary, multi-faceted and experimental like few others.

Troppa offerta, troppi nuovi prodotti sensazionali. E' straordinaria, sfaccettata e sperimentale come poche altre.

    STEEMPOSSIBLE STORYCHAIN THEMAGAZINE.png

As often happens before seeing a major episode I check his evaluation on IMDB. No spoilers but at least the chance to prepare for a possible sensational event. The seventh episode of the seventh season still has a rating of 10/10 on IMDB. A privilege that happened very few times, from Ozymandias and Felina of Breaking Bad to Battle of Bastards and Winds of Winter of Game of Thrones. The curiosity was so much. The curiosity to find out what the genius of Sam Esmail had invented. In this last season he had already astonished us with an episode, the fifth, which for 50 minutes had not shown dialogue but kept the high tension and managing to close the story told in those 50 minutes in a perfect, vibrant and elegant way. In the seventh episode the situation is reversed. Esmail abandons silence and builds an episode as dense and emotionally charged, but filling it with dialogues. This time the 55 minutes are static as everything is born, develops and dies within a single room of a New York apartment. The tribute to certain films and to a certain cinematographic and even theatrical style is obvious but Esmail still manages to write his page of history in a brilliant, original and personal way. Emotional escalation and ascending pathos are palpable. It will lead to the unveiling of one of the most mysterious truths in this series. Who is Mr. Robot. The episode is a masterpiece. We will remember it for centuries. What is most striking is the flexibility of Esmail that manages to move from a silent and adrenaline-filled episode to a static and rich in words without ever losing the compass. If this is not a genius, tell me who it may be.

  7. Mr Robot is back, for the very last time@serialfiller2453d
