  1. My Sweet Monster ~ Thoughts@penderis1538d

I actually enjoy animated movies, but after watching part of The Croods I was so agitated that I could not watch another animation, especially cg for quite a while. Then came Arcane and the bar was set even higher.

After some time I guess my intolerance has dwindled and if something looks pretty funny or just homey then I might give it a gander. Well not The Croods, ever.

    My Sweet Monster

I mainly chose it because the cover stood out against all the b-rate horrors and action movies that seem to be in season. I read the description and figured this is a classic Beauty and The Beast story, let's watch it.

I was not wrong , and really saying that and even watching the trailer does not matter because it is still just a good quirky story.

There are points where I was like well that is such a "kindergarten" moment maybe I should start watching My Little Pony if I am watching this.

Regardless it has quite a few things that will keep you watching, and almost feels like the setup for many, many, many spinoffs. There are clear elements of Arcane in it even and the odd merger of worlds which they could have tried to feel more vast yet made to look as though just a skip and a jump away you have gone from Steampunk to the 50's City life.

They also never really explain much, or expand on much. Things just happen and magic just exists, that gets explained but then they go right into the next part of the plot. Like a checklist of "this makes a classic".

I don't mind though it kept the pace and if you don't intend to make an epic at least make it jam-packed with story bits.

So it is probably more a story for children but if you get passed some cliche moments in the dialogue the Characters interactions are pretty engaging and the story covers a lot of ground which might leave some behind even. Don't fret though because the main plot dialogue will make it very clear what you are supposed to be thinking.

It is a pretty good whatchamacallit "family movie" , the goodies are very good and the baddy ain't all that bad, well he is bad but not so hard to knock on their ass.
