Hello everyone dear friends of TheAnimeRealm, I hope you are doing great... today I want to share with you my opinion about a very curious anime, today I will talk about: O Maidens in Your Savage Season... well, this series took me by surprise, in good parts and in bad parts.. i watched this anime some time ago without any specific expectation, i was looking for something light and maybe funny. Instead, I found a story with a lot of maturity in between... there are moments that are funny, awkward, and also others deeply touching, when I was finishing it, it was inevitable to be moved by some things that were happening, and I guess that's not caused by any series... let's say that, although it does many things well, but some of them don't work at all.
It's a series that left me with a lot of complicated feelings, the story revolves around 5 high school girls in a literature club.. they all have very different personalities, then these girls will get into awkward and embarrassing situations as they are growing up and trying to explore their feelings and romantic desires.. and at the same time trying to understand their sexuality. From the beginning I have to tell you that this anime does not avoid uncomfortable conversations.. but that's exactly the point, it's about exploring the lives of teenagers who are going through their childhood stage.. and entering a new world, full of unexplored things, it begins to touch adult themes, but from the apparent innocence of someone who is discovering some issues to which he is not used to...

Hola a todos queridos amigos de TheAnimeRealm, espero que se encuentren super bien.. en el día de hoy quiero compartirles mi opinión sobre un anime bastante curioso, hoy les hablaré de: O Maidens in Your Savage Season.. bueno, esta serie me tomó por sorpresa, en partes buenas y en partes malas.. yo vi este anime hace algún tiempo sin ninguna expectativa específica, estaba buscando algo ligero y tal vez divertido. En cambio, me encontré con una historia con mucha madurez de por medio.. hay momentos que son graciosos, incómodos, y además otros profundamente conmovedores, cuando ya lo estaba terminando, fue inevitable emocionarme por algunas cosas que estaban pasando, y supongo que eso no lo causa cualquier serie.. digamos que, si bien, hace muchas cosas bien, pero algunas no terminan de funcionar del todo.
Es una serie que me dejó muchos sentimientos complicados, la historia gira en torno a 5 chicas de secundaria en un club de literatura.. todas tienen personalidades muy diferentes, luego estas chicas se verán envueltas en situaciones incómodas y vergonzosas, ya que están creciendo e intentan explorar sus sentimientos y deseos románticos.. y al mismo tiempo tratan de comprender su sexualidad. Desde el principio les tengo que decir que este anime no evita las conversaciones incomodas.. pero justamente ese es el punto, se trata de explorar las vidas de unas adolescentes que están pasando su etapa de infancia.. y adentrándose a un mundo nuevo, lleno de cosas inexploradas, comienza a tocar temas adultos, pero desde la aparente inocencia de alguien que está descubriendo unos temas a los cuales no está acostumbrado..

Kazusa is one of the main characters, and she is that kind of ordinary girl who feels very normal... soon we get to know her friendship with Izumi, who is her childhood friend, and we see how their relationship is a roller coaster, as there are various circumstances that make them both feel emotionally uncomfortable and do not know how to deal with situations that might displease the other. It's the typical case of people who grew up as children, but once they are at a relatively adult age, they realize that they are no longer children anymore... I think it's that process of growing up, confusion and such strange emerging feelings, which mix together and can be so funny, awkward, sad, etc.
I feel that, while it can be a bit over the top at times, it tries to portray as genuinely as possible the change in perspective and outlook these characters have when they finally realize they've stopped being kids. But Kazusa is not the only one of the girls who will deal with complicated emotions in this series, each member of the literature club has her own arc, and they are all impacted in a different way. We meet Rika, the president of the club... she starts out as a strict and very serious girl, almost comically opposite to the whole idea of the typical girl who wants to fall in love, but her story takes a 360 degree turn and really tugs at your heart. I think she's one of the characters I got more attached to... it's interesting to see her let her guard down little by little and discover her feelings, those that even she didn't know she couldn't contain, I guess that's one of the cutest parts of this series... it's nice when this kind of themes can make you smile like a fool for really touching moments.
Talking a bit about the other main characters, we also have Hitoha, a girl who has a lot of confidence as a writer, a strange yet overbearing determination about exploring much more mature themes in depth. Although I must say that her arc stressed me out quite a bit... many times she starts making questionable decisions and it's inevitable to want to yell at her and tell her to stop behaving like an idiot... sometimes she can be very insensitive, and I think out of the whole group of protagonists she's the one you can dislike the worst. Then we also meet Nina, who has a pretty dark past... it's one of those pasts that leave you silent for quite some time, and the series gives a lot of depth to all of this... I won't talk too much about this because it's hard for me to do so without spoilers, but I think it's interesting in a way how all of this is mixed in with the emotional complications of the other girls.

Kazusa es una de las principales protagonistas, y es ese tipo de chica común y corriente que se siente muy normal.. pronto conoceremos su amistad con Izumi, el que es su amigo de la infancia, y vemos como su relación es toda una montaña rusa, ya que hay diversas circunstancias que hacen que ambos se sientan emocionalmente incómodos y no sepan lidiar con situaciones que podrían desagradar al otro. Es el típico caso de personas que crecieron desde pequeñas, pero una vez están en una edad relativamente adulta, se dan cuenta de que ya dejan de ser niños.. creo que es ese proceso de crecimiento, confusión y sentimientos emergentes tan extraños, que se mezclan y puede resultar tan gracioso, incómodo, triste, etc.
Siento que, si bien puede ser un poco exagerado en ciertas ocasiones, intenta representar de la manera más genuina posible el cambio de perspectiva y visión que tienen estos personajes cuando por fin se dan cuenta que dejaron de ser niños. Pero Kazusa no es la única de las chicas que lidiará con complicadas emociones en esta serie, cada miembro del club de literatura tiene su propio arco, y todos se impactan de una manera diferente. Conoceremos a Rika, la presidenta del club.. ella comienza siendo una chica estricta y muy seria, casi cómicamente opuesta a toda la idea de la típica chica que quiere enamorarse, pero su historia da un cambio de 360 grados y realmente te llega al corazón. Creo que es uno de los personajes con los que más me encariñé.. es interesante verla bajar la guardia poco a poco y descubrir sus sentimientos, aquellos que ni siquiera ella sabía que podía contener, supongo que es de las partes más lindas de esta serie.. es bueno cuando este tipo de temas pueden hacerte sonreír como tonto por momentos realmente emotivo.
Hablando un poco de las demás protagonistas, también tenemos a Hitoha, una chica que tiene mucha confianza como escritora, una determinación extraña y a la vez dominante sobre explorar a fondo temas mucho más maduros. Aunque debo decir que su arco me estresó bastante.. muchas veces comienza a tomar decisiones cuestionables y es inevitable querer gritarle y decirle que deje de comportarse como una idiota.. algunas veces puede ser muy insensible, y creo que de todo el grupo de protagonistas es la que peor te puede caer. Luego también conoceremos a Nina, la cual tiene un pasado bastante oscuro.. es uno de esos pasados que te dejan silencio durante bastante tiempo, y la serie le da mucha profundidad a todo esto.. No hablaré mucho de esto porque me cuesta hacerlo sin hacer spoilers, pero creo que es interesante de cierta manera la manera en la que todo esto se va mezclando con las complicaciones emocionales de las otras chicas.

Talking a bit about the comedy of this series, honestly, I think it manages to be very funny when it tries to be... there are certain recurring jokes in which the girls have various serious discussions about literature itself, and I find it funny the way most of the time, a simple discussion can end up in complete chaos. It reminded me of those ridiculous conversations I used to have with my friends in high school, where just between laughter and awkward silences everything would get out of control, but even though I loved the first half of this anime, it starts to stumble in the later episodes.. Around episode 8 or 9 it starts to cram too many plots in, and not all of them receive concrete closure.. there is one specific subplot involving a school scandal and a ridiculously extreme situation with hostages, yes, hostages.. and I felt like the writers didn't quite know how to handle it, or at least, they did it in a very abbreviated way that didn't feel organic at all.
The change in tone is so drastic that it almost feels like another series... I remember thinking like, seriously, they're going to end this like this...it's frustrating, because the characters deserved so much more..some of their stories were handled beautifully, but others felt rushed and extremely incomplete, this could of course be due to the way they adapted the light novel.... But I feel that, if they can't get something right.. they can try to split it into two seasons, or maybe expand the episodes a bit more, but you get that feeling that they lumped a lot of things together so that it wouldn't exceed the allowed episode limit. On the visual side, this anime is not revolutionary, but I still found it charming... the character designs are simple, but expressive enough, the animation serves its purpose, and I think the opening is also very catchy... surely many of you will be humming it after listening to it. It also has a decent soundtrack, which knows how to handle the changing tones well, and knows how to pop in the more serious moments when needed.

Hablando un poco de la comedia de esta serie, honestamente, creo que logra ser muy divertido cuando intenta serlo.. hay ciertos chistes recurrentes en los cuales las chicas tienen diversas discusiones serias sobre la literatura en sí, y me parece gracioso la manera en la mayoría del tiempo, una simple discusión pueda terminar en un completo caos. Me recordó esas conversaciones ridículas que solía tener con mis amigos en la secundaria, donde simplemente entre risas y silencios incómodos todo se salía de control, pero aunque amé la primera mitad de este anime, empieza a tropezar en los últimos episodios.. Alrededor del episodio 8 o 9 empieza a meter demasiadas tramas, y no todas reciben un cierre concreto.. hay una sub-trama específica que involucra un escándalo escolar y una situación ridículamente extrema con rehenes, sí, con rehenes.. y sentí que los escritores no supieron bien cómo manejarlo, o al menos, lo hicieron de una manera muy resumida que no se sintió para nada orgánica.
El cambio de tono es tan drástico que casi parece otra serie.. recuerdo pensar como que, ¿en serio, van a terminar esto así? es frustrante, porque los personajes merecían mucho más.. algunas de sus historias se manejaron de una forma hermosa, pero otras se sintieron apresuradas y sumamente incompletas, esto podría deberse, por supuesto, a la manera en la que adaptaron la novela ligera.. Pero siento que, si no pueden hacer algo bien.. pueden intentar dividirlo en dos temporadas, o tal vez expandir un poco más los episodios, pero se siente esa sensación de que agruparon muchas cosas para que no excediera el límite de los episodios permitidos. En el apartado visual, este anime no es revolucionario, pero aún así me pareció encantador.. los diseños de los personajes son simples, pero lo suficientemente expresivos, la animación cumple con su propósito, y creo que el opening también es muy pegajoso.. seguramente muchos de ustedes quedarán tarareándola después de escucharlo. También posee una banda sonora decente, la cual sabe manejar bien los tonos cambiantes, y sabe cómo reventar en los momentos más serios cuando es necesario.

It's an anime that I would recommend, but you have to keep in mind that the last few episodes can leave a lot to be desired... but that doesn't take away from the great value it can have. There are characters that are well written and impossible not to get attached to... if you're the type of person who loves stories centered around characters that are growing up or rediscovering what it means to be an adult, with a mix of humor, drama and lots and lots of awkwardness, this series will surely be very worthwhile for you. I give it a rating of 7.5/10. I had the potential to make it an 8 or even a 9 if I had managed to close a lot of things in a better way, but despite its flaws it's an experience I'm glad I had.. it can make you reflect and will surely remind you how complicated it is to grow up. Es un anime que si recomendaría, pero hay que tener en cuenta que los últimos episodios pueden dejar mucho que desear.. pero esto no quita el gran valor que puede tener. Hay personajes que están bien escritos y con los cuales es imposible no encariñarse.. si eres un tipo de persona que ama las historias centradas en personajes que están creciendo o están redescubriendo qué es lo que significa ser adulto, con una mezcla de humor, drama y mucha, mucha incomodidad, seguramente esta serie valdrá mucho la pena para ti. Yo le doy una calificación de 7.5/10. Tuve el potencial para hacer un 8 o incluso un 9 si hubiera logrado cerrar muchas cosas de una mejor manera, pero a pesar de sus defectos es una experiencia que me alegra haber tenido.. puede hacerte reflexionar y seguramente te recordará lo complicado que es crecer.
