If Pitch Perfect is able to change our faith that initially does not believe that acapella is cool, I think Pitch Perfect 3 will have the opposite effect. Watching this movie makes me often eyerolling and saying, The movie is cheesy , chaotic, and pointless . The only quality material it offers is a collection of photos & videos in the credit title that captures the moments of togetherness of the Barden Bellas. Movies should be created from this section. Hey, this movie is our farewell with Barden Bellas ?

Faded has a unique world of fun from the universe Pitch Perfect , where acapella is considered part of the lifestyle of people and people can suddenly sing anytime and anywhere. Kay Cannon, who also wrote the script for the first and second films, chose to go frenzy in this cover movie by throwing the Bellas into action films, where Fat Amy ( Rebel Wilson ) had to beat the villains with the wok.

Or acapella no longer relevant probably because the Bellas have graduated from college and now have to deal with real life ? Real life is not always friendly. Beca ( Anna Kendrick ) eventually became a music producer, but it was better to stop than to produce a fierce musician. Chloe ( Brittany Snow ) did not really enjoy helping cattle. Cynthia ( Ester Dean ) has just killed hundreds of fake passengers in a flight simulation. And Fat Amy ... actually no problem with the status of unemployment, only the stalls "Fat Amy Winehouse".

No longer young and fresh is the conclusion they took while watching the acapella performance of their junior group headed by Emily ( Hailee Steinfeld ). But the Bellas feel the need to give one last performance. So when the chair of Aubrey ( Anna Camp ) sparked the idea of appearing on a USO tour - the one whose purpose was to entertain American soldiers scattered across the country - the Bellas soon packed their costumes that I thought were too small now.

But being a viewer is not that easy, because they have to compete with other groups. The winner will have a place as the opening artist for DJ Khaled (played by DJ Khaled himself with lebay, either acting lebay or indeed the original) which, according to this movie, seems to be level with Beyonce. Part of the story about this competition is unfortunately only handled half-hearted, so wasted potential rivalry between the Bellas who sing only use the mouth against three other bands who sing using the mouth and musical instruments.

Somehow the movie is more interested in the subplot of Fat Amy's papa appearance which then ushered us to the sequence where Fat Amy ran and pounded up the thugs on a yacht while the other Bellas sang "Toxic" Britney Spears to distract. The musical aspect is withdrawn to be replaced by a makeshift romance subplot, violent family conflicts, and the act of auxiliary agents.

What will we get from this movie, I'm not so sure. The row of songs is not enough, let alone memorable. And this is the only reason we watch the movie is not it? Looks like the makers are not interested anymore. There is one song where Beca et al singing using the current music tool is a loop machine , but I am willing to swap the 10 loop songs like that with one song "Cups" are amazingly small.

Somehow the story also, Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins re-appear, not as a commentator again but a documentary filmmaker who plans to cover the fall of the Barden Bellas. Their comments no longer stop at the level of "teasing", but go to the "dirty" level. Wilson still gives us insanity that will make us poisoned, but the Bellas and their cheerful friendship have lost energy. Maybe they're tired

My wife and I felt like watching a comedy for Christmas. We did not see the first two installments of Pitch Perfect, but the trailers for Pitch Perfect 3 looked moderately funny. We figured we would roll the dice and check it out today. As a stand alone film, we did not feel we needed to see the prior films to appreciate this film. Although it was moderately funny. Not a film I would necessarily recommend seeing in the theater.

The a capella music group Bellas have parted ways, finding adjustment to the real world to be less than ideal. When the girls get together at a bar, the idea is hatched to perform for the USO. When they arrive in Spain, they discover that headliner DJ Khaled (DJ Khaled) will be selecting one of the warm up acts to tour with him. The competition is on. And it is stiff. A diverse set of musicians travels with the USO, performing at military installations around Europe. Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) is reunited with her father (John Lithgow), Beca (Anna Kendrick) establishes her street cred as a solo act, and the entire Bella crew survive a deadly encounter on a cruise ship in addition to the battle of the bands raging during the tour.

The plot to Pitch Perfect 3 is zany. It is a contrived mess of espionage and music. It is merely a vehicle to deliver some dry one-liners and some humorous situational comedy alongside exceptional music performances. Most of the cast is made up of actual musicians. They are talented. The arrangements, although intended to be random, are a carefully constructed combination of musical styles that kept the film interesting. It managed to tie together the otherwise silly comedy. The plot was silly, contrived and predictable. But the delivery was worthwhile enough to hold my interest.

Pitch Perfect 3 does not take itself too seriously. The combination of music and comedy held together a weak plot. The performances helped sell the film. While the actresses are also real musicians, I am fairly certain there was plenty of sound editing and numerous takes to give us the seamless performances. The acting is at its best when it comes in the form of music. The characters are weak, the narrative choppy, the story uneven. The major subplot was ridiculous. If not for the nice musical arrangements, I would not recommend this film. The music earns it a mild recommendation.

Pitch Perfect 3 is rather short, with a run time of 93 minutes. The film eked out a PG-13 rating, in spite of a barrage of sexual innuendo throughout the dialogue. There was a bit of violence that was more comical than violent. The language and mature content are the primary factors in the rating. Some of it would go over younger viewers heads, but I would give this a tween, teen and older recommendation.

Pitch Perfect 3 is somewhat forgettable as a comedy. I did laugh out loud a few times, so I guess that is redemptive. I actually enjoyed the music more than the comedy. I may even have to go back and watch the first two just to see what they were about. This film worked as a stand alone film, although barely. The musical arrangements made it enjoyable for me. I would give this a mild recommendation. I would not pay to see it at the theater. Streaming for free works. 6.5/10.
