Project Silence (2023) [ENG/ESP]@yaslenysofia405d
ENGLISH
Greetings @Movies&Tvshows community.…
Looking for something to watch on the weekend, I found a South Korean movie that I had heard of, but it didn't really catch my attention, until I saw that it had the participation of Ju Ji-hoon, an actor that I have loved the way he plays characters since I saw the k-drama The Trauma Code, a series for which he also won an award. I was really surprised by the story and I ended up liking it, of course there were some details, but here I will tell you all my impressions of it.
Released in 2023 at the Cannes Film Festival and in 2024 in South Korea, the director was Kim Tae-gon and the production company Blaad Studio, bringing us a thriller, drama and mystery. It featured the participation of the late actor Lee Sun-kyun, famous for his leading role in Parasite (I didn't remember who he was until I saw the file), as well as the participation of Ju Ji-hoon and Kim Hee-won.
Cha Jeong-won, a man who is not only a presidential aide but also a father, is on his way to the airport when a thick fog (and one person's recklessness) causes a domino accident, trapping everyone on the bridge.
Soon, this climatic inconvenience will be the cause of the release of some dogs, but they are not common animals, apparently a project that should be kept silent will be revealed, causing all the lives present there to be in danger. Will Jeong-won and his daughter be able to get out alive? What will these dogs be? What secrets will await our protagonist?
At the beginning I must admit that I found it boring, and then when all this stuff about intelligent and murderous dogs started, the action got more intense. What I liked the most about this movie was the theme it deals with, because these dogs really started to be a threat because of the human, not to go into context and not to give spoilers, it's like those pitbulls that have killed, but really have been because of the owners, something like that.
I know that many will refute that these dogs are killers, that they are difficult dogs to dominate and not everyone should have them, they have to be trained and treated with love, a being that is raised in cruelty and abuse, teaching him to be a killing machine, will obviously take these measures. Once, together with my neighbor, we rescued a pitbull and chow chow mongrel dog, she was abandoned with her newborn babies, the dog was aggressive and to be able to catch her, she had to be sedated (something that was not good because she was breastfeeding), in the end, we managed to protect her and her babies.
At the beginning, we had to approach him where he sleeps, enclosing him in another space, at the point of bait, because we could not, it was really scary, but my neighbor, little by little and at the point of chicken, lowered his temper, until he became a loving dog, he let us get close to his babies, even stroking his little head. That taught us that animals act depending on how we treat them.
However, what I didn't like about the film, besides the bad CGI of the dogs, is the lack of depth of the characters and the fact that it mixed too many elements for the whole plot, it just didn't fit. The film had potential and, in spite of everything, I still think it's good, I don't know, it has something, maybe the subject it handles also makes it attractive.
There is no denying that the movie is entertaining and somehow manages to keep you hooked, but really, if they had put more care in the special effects and in the development of the plot, it would have reached another level, added to the fact that they cut minutes and, I guess because they rushed it, they made the story lose focus, I don't know, maybe. It's not a bad thing to see it and give your opinion about it.

7.5/10 Historia │ 8/10 Actuaciones │ 8/10 Sonido │ 5/10 Escenario │ 7/10 General

›Project Silence (2024): Every Survivor Is A Target@kingsleyy436d
Greetings movie lovers!
I was deeply engrossed in this movie, Project Silence, watching with full focus and interest. At some point, I had to tap on my screen to check how much time was left, hoping it would still be long—because I didn’t want it to end anytime soon. Unfortunately, at the time I did that, there were only 15 minutes remaining. I was pained! The next thing that crossed my mind was to invisibly question the producers—why didn’t they make it into a series?
Project Silence is a 2024 Korean movie on survival
The accident scene, which I have already watched more than six times, is one that, while watching, I kept imagining and looking closely to confirm whether it was computer-generated. But hey, the collisions appear so real—so real that I wonder how many vehicles they had to destroy in shooting the movie. This accident scene, on the airport bridge, is actually the core of the movie. Cha Jung-Won, a deputy security secretary who was taking his only daughter to the airport to travel abroad, got caught in the collision—but fortunately for them, they were unharmed. As he stepped out to check on other victims, he encountered a group of soldiers who were travelling with a doctor and some dogs. Due to the crash, the dogs had gotten loose from their cages. Still trying to make sense of what was happening, Cha noticed the soldiers had jammed all cell signals in the area, meaning he couldn’t report the incident to his superiors. Right before his eyes, the dogs—now in large numbers—began to aggressively tear apart victims trapped on the bridge.
Escape was nearly impossible, as one side of the bridge had collapsed while the other end was blocked by a deadly gas. The only option was to contact the security department to request a rescue helicopter—but did that happen? You need to find out.
What makes it worse is that the doctor who had genetically engineered the dogs into what they had become, could do nothing to stop them. He tried his best to tame them, but none of his efforts produced any results. In fact, his own life was in danger—just like everyone else’s on the bridge.
For anyone who has a fear of dogs, this movie will surely intensify it. The aggressiveness of the dogs was overwhelming, and the fact that they seemed unkillable made them even more terrifying. The survivors didn’t even bother trying to fight them—it was a lost war. Hiding was the only viable option.
Ratings and Opinions:
The disaster plot is so perfect. First, we are introduced to a bad weather condition on the airport road. A speeding driver nearly had an accident but survived after spinning out of control multiple times. While he was celebrating his survival, another vehicle—whose driver had poor visibility—crashed into him, sparking a massive chain reaction of collisions. The pile-up was so convincingly done that I still question whether it was computer-generated. Even the helicopter that initially came to transport the dogs crashed and caused one side of the bridge to collapse.
Honestly, the movie should have been made into a series so we could get more. That is the only aspect I didn’t like. However, at the end of the movie, the main dog—Echo9—was seen swimming out of the river after the bridge had collapsed. I guess that’s a hint that a part two is coming. I really hope so.
