My Rabona team
It is a sad day...
Today, after a lot of deliberation, I have decided to let my Rabona team fade into blockchain memory. As much as I like the game, it has become something that only takes more investment, and does not really offer any payoff. After taking a few days off and coming back, I had lost several team members because I had not renewed their contract, and it was then that I realized the game was no longer for me. There are several reasons for this, and I am going to outline them, and the improvements I think could be made in the game, in this post.
My first place season
As a game, super cool, as an investment, not so much...
When I first began playing Rabona, I really liked it, even though I am not much of soccer, or even a sports fan, per see. I did like the idea of fantasy managing, however. So, I bought in and watched the introduction videos, and then, I got started! It was not long before I had the basics down, even had a first-place season one time! But, that is when I started to see things that could use improvement throughout the game. For example, there is no way to schedule things that need to be done if you have to take time away, ironically, the reason I am now deciding to stop playing. I understand wanting to have people log in and interact as much as possible, but a two, or three-day absence can destroy your entire team if you are not aware of the timing!
A common glitch in the game is the matches not loading fully...
Investment cost...
As far as getting started with Rabona, the cost really is not much. I forget what it was to start, but I believe it was one dollar in Hive, although I could be wrong. My point is it is not much. Also, the cost to convert to the in-game currency, RBN, from Hive is again, very forgiving. I mean, you can currently buy ten million RBN for about one Hive, so it is not as though I have a large investment in the game. I have upgraded my facilities, stadium, etc, and receive revenue in-game from merchandise and food sales, but again, it is negligible. The goal of the game is to balance the finances of your franchise to make more than you spend, however, if you upgrade a facility, and it is not the correct decision for the balance sheet, you do not get a refund of any of what you spent when you downgrade. To me, there should be at least some compensation there.
Suggestions...
So, if you are into soccer and have a little Hive to spare, and a lot of time, Rabona is something you for sure should check out. Be aware of the things I have outlined, and hopefully in the future, we will see some changes. I for one would like to see a way to sell the whole team franchise at least. You can "freeze" the players to sell them in the market, but it would be nice if you could do that with the whole team. This would allow people to leave and come back to the game as a whole, with a newly started investment, of course. Another thing I would for sure like to see would be a "scheduling dashboard" for when a person has to take time away from the game. As it is now if you leave town, or have to take time away, it is likely you will miss renewing a contract with a player, and you will definitely miss training sessions. The missed training will hurt your team, but losing the players can cripple it! Having the ability to schedule out, for say a week, would solve this problem.
Closing...
While I like this game, the amount of time involved, with very limited payout, is what is making me stop playing. Unfortunately, the way the game is set up now, I have the option of "freezing" and selling the players, which costs more investment, or slowly letting the team fade away as the contracts expire. I do not like throwing money after bad, and to me, letting my team, built over time with love, slowly fade into memory, leaving a desolate digital stadium and facilities for the ghosts in the machine to inhabit, well, it appeals to me...
As always, thank you for reading!
