  1. Rent A Girlfriend@coderaikiri358d

After being dumped unexpectedly by his girlfriend, Kazuma Kinoshita a college student is thrown into a rollercoaster of emotions. In attempt to get over his pain, Kazuya resorts to renting a girlfriend online as a coping mechanism. He books an appointment and prepares to just get it over with the rental services of a fake girlfriend. However when he meets up with his fake date, Kazuya is shocked to meet the beautiful Chizuru Mizuhara and is completely taken aback by her composure.

What was originally meant to be a one time experience slowly evolves into series of encounters initiated by Kazuya at the expense of his finances. Things slowly get out of control as Kazuya ends up introducing Chizuru to his friends and family as his real girlfriend much to their approval. Chizuru initially planned on disputing the idea but after countless persuasions from a desperate Kazuya, she reluctantly agrees on the basis that he continues to pay for her everything.

Kazuya and Chizuru both continue with their lie which ends up making Mami (Kazuya's ex girlfriend) jealous even going as far as trying to win him back in numbers occasions. Kazuya on the other hand starts to develop genuine feelings for Chizuru pushing him to rent her services regularly as he is to scared to tell her how he truly feels.

    1002092995.jpg

This is totally different from Chizuru who does not feel any form of attraction towards and plans to keep it 100% professional until the very end. The series progresses with a whirlpool of emotions, Kazuya trying to navigate previous feelings for his ex and and his now love interest, Chizuru struggling to focus on her career as an actor while also balancing her side hustle as a rental girlfriend and both of them keeping up the facade of being an authentic couple to their respective families.

In the sixth episode of the first season, a summer festival was celebrated in the series ushering a shift from the emotional tension to one of celebration. Dressed up in traditional attires, Kazuya and Chizuru both attend the summer festival celebration seperately but end up running into each other as the festivities intensifies. They try to converse as they are not business associates but neighbors and it is at this point that Kazuya completely realize that his feelings are not just products of a make believe relationship but an authentic affection towards Chizuru.

    1002093157.jpg

Chizuru also displays her soft spot for Kazuya signifying a potential crack on the walls she built around her heart despite efforts to cover it up. During the summer festival, the pretend couple run into friends and family members and this automatically forces them to continue with the pretense of being relationship partners. Kazuya's grandmother who is most especially thrilled about their supposed relationship as Chizuru is also the granddaughter of her best friend pleads with them both to make it work as nothing would make her happier than seeing them both ending up together further intensifying the mood.

    1002093156.jpg

The fireworks at the festival brought with it a beauty that radiates with the calmness of the atmosphere. The sky is lit up by sparkles that spoke emotions of closeness, clarity about feelings from Kazuya and Chizuru questioning if she might have feeling for her client after all. The summer festival is a very crucial part of this series as it marked the shift and begining of a story pushing this two souls to the next phase. Thank you. Images are all gotten from IMDb

Hello to all anime fans, great Hive community, I hope you are doing great today, this time I want to share with you my opinions about a certain anime that pleasantly surprised me, I swear, I didn't expect to get hooked this hard with this kind of story, but here I am, wanting to tell you everything... since the first episode the anime: Girlfriend, Girlfriend, caught me off guard with that crazy idea that they sent.... it's not just that the initial idea is crazy, but that it affects the whole story, creating a dynamic between the characters that is super entertaining... that constant struggle to maintain that strange relationship is what causes almost all the comedy and creates tense moments that, although absurd, keep you glued to the screen, because the basis of everything is that the protagonist decides to date two girls at the same time, and with the permission of both of them! Hahaha, this in real life is impossible, but that's exactly what makes the series so funny, it's so ridiculous that instead of questioning it, you get carried away by all this madness, and enjoy the roller coaster of bizarre situations that come out.
Is it realistic? not at all, but, and who said it had to be, for me, the most important thing in these series is how much fun I have, and here there wasn't a single chapter where I didn't laugh... from Naoya's exaggerated sincerity to Saki and Nagisa's reactions, every scene is made for pure chaos... there, exactly there, is what's great. Also, as the story progresses, you realize that the anime doesn't take itself seriously for a second, it's as if the creators themselves knew that what they were doing was totally crazy and decided to go all out in just that direction, you don't watch this anime expecting a typical romance, it's made to make you laugh, and I think it succeeds in many ways.

The best thing about this series is the comedy... this is not an anime that seeks to make you think a lot or touch deep topics about love or relationships, their goal is clear: to make you laugh with pure ridiculousness... and I swear they do it, there are moments when the story seems to make fun of the harem genre itself, exaggerating clichés to the point of total out of control. and I swear they succeed, there are moments when the story seems to make fun of the harem genre itself, exaggerating the clichés to the point of total uncontrol, and yes, sometimes Naoya is so silly that you feel like giving him a good slap, but his bulletproof honesty makes him a unique character... it's not that he is a super deep protagonist or with an incredible evolution, but his sincerity, taken to the extreme, is what pushes the series to moments of comedy that make you die laughing.
Another highlight are the characters, even if they are not the most complicated or have a deep development, all of them are funny, Saki is like the voice of reason in all this mess, but at the same time she is so impulsive and exaggerated that she ends up being just as chaotic as the others.... her reactions are the best of the series, especially when she gets desperate with the situation she's in, Nagisa, on the other hand, is like the bed of the story, the one who puts the tender touch but without leaving aside the comedy... her sweetness contrasts with the madness of the rest, but when you least expect it, she also throws herself headlong into the most absurd situations.

And then there's Mirika, who at the beginning seemed like just another ordinary character, but at the end she gave a total twist to the group... that strong personality and how insistent she is to conquer Naoya make many scenes totally uncontrollable, totally laughable, she's the typical girl who never gives up and is willing to do anything to get what she wants, and that creates ridiculous situations, but you'll die laughing.. her interactions with the other characters add more chaos to the anime, making you never know what's going to happen next, you always want to see if she will achieve her goal or not. Obviously it's not a perfect series, there are moments when it gets repetitive and, to be honest, the story doesn't advance much... it's basically a circle of entanglements and misunderstandings that keeps going round and round without getting anywhere, but, on this occasion, I didn't mind that one bit... I had too much fun watching how they managed to keep that relationship afloat, too much fun!
It's that kind of anime that you watch without thinking about logic or if it's realistic, just because it's funny and makes you laugh, besides, the visuals and sound add a lot to the experience... the animation is colorful and vibrant, perfect for this kind of story... yes, it's not a masterpiece in production, but it fulfills its function 100%. I also want to highlight the character design, which manages to convey how exaggerated the emotions are with well marked and dynamic facial expressions.. and the music, is another hit haha, the opening and ending are super catchy and totally fit the chaotic energy of the series.

It also has those sound effects that fall right where they should to reinforce the visual laughter...everything in the production seems to be thought for people to have fun without taking anything seriously, although in the second season we see more development of a fourth girl, Saki's best friend, they try to put in some drama, which I didn't feel forced at all, it's not something that worries or shocks you, but there are more “serious” moments than in the first season, that yes, the focus is still on the crazy situations that this courtship causes. If I had to give it a grade, I would give it a solid 7.5/10, it's not the best in the world, but it doesn't want to be... it's an anime that knows what it is and makes the most of it, if you are looking for something relaxed, fun and without many complications, it's really worth giving it a chance..
It's one of those series that takes the stress away after a hard day, when you just want to disconnect and laugh for a while without thinking about anything else... if you have already seen it, tell me about it! Did you laugh like I did? If you haven't seen it, it sure makes you have a great time, and sometimes that's just what you need... and well friends, I hope you liked this review, see you in the next ones, take care, I'll leave the opening down here for you to take a look! See you, byebye.
