You're warmly welcome to my blog and I am reviewing and sharing my opinion about Korean horror movie Salmokji: Whispering Water
Salmokji is mysterious water reservoir and the center point of the terror in the movie.
Literal Meaning of Salmokji:
"Salmokji means cross roads of life and death."
The story revolves around a Media team consist of six members who were assigned to film the Salmokji. Team leader Producer Han Su-in heads towards the spot with her team. Producer Han is worried about her colleague Chief Woo who was missing after sick leave. She believes his absence is somehow connected to the mystery of Salmokji.
Media team encounter a weird old woman near the reservoir who ask them to stack stones on the cairn and make a wish. One by one they stack six stones on the cairn and woman become invisible at once. That's the first event that reflects something is fishy.
The biggest twist came when Chief Woo appears again who was believed to be missing. Producer Han noticed something wrong with Chief Woo because he is in bad mood.
Mr. Song was assigned to film a 3-km road while Producer Han noticed suspicious movements that arise suspense in the movie. Every event and happening urge viewers whether it's personal illusion or really happening? Mr. Song his brother fell in the trapping water and met unbelievable death. Two love birds who were member of media Seong-bin and Seong-Jin who were the center of my attention in the movie try to escape but of no vain.
Seong-bin have knowledge about supernatural power and she talked to ghost via a device that turns on automatically.
Seong-bin and Seong-Jin tried to run away of this place but GPS/Navigation becomes unreliable. They keep returning to one place again and again. Seong-bin witness Neokgeonjigi
An ancient ritual pulling spirit from water.
Amid of struggling for survival Producer Han received call from her mate Producer Ki-tae who was about to join them at Salmokji.
He informed about the death of Chief Woo in the hospital. That news boils the blood, the person standing before her is not alive. That was the most sensational scene of the movie.
Wait....Stop for a moment and imagine if you are in trouble and you suddenly found the person who is holding your hand, encourage is a ghost.
Don't loss your senses please and be thrill to read the actual thrill.
Ki-tae reach out Producer Han and told his encounter to the weird woman who asked her to stack the stone in Cairn and make wish. He showed her stone and revealed that he had not make any wish yet. They realized that cairn is somehow connected to the supernatural power. Now the main purpose of Han is to knocked down the pile of stone.
What to rise suspense was that the cairn disappeared from the place where the stacked stone and make the wish. Eventually, unexpected events leads Han to reach the cairn drowning in the reservoir. She helplessly knocked down the cairn of stones.
Kit-tae and Producer Han Su-in back to work alive after adventure. But Ki-tae suddenly noticed Salmokji and supernatural power haven't left them in city.
And that uncertainty is the real ending of the movie—there is no completely confirmed happy ending for Su-in and Ki-tae.
Rating :
I will rate this movie 7/10 because it's a not ending mystery or unclear and unexplained cycle of events.
