   El día de hoy quiero compartir con todos ustedes las emociones que sentí cuando vi Selena La Serie. Resulta que una amiga me insistió mucho para que la viera, a pesar de que soy una persona a la cual le gusta muchísimo el género romántico, no me llamaba la atención ésta serie, sin embargo, a la insistencia de mi amiga decidí verla y la verdad es que no me arrepiento.

   Antes de comenzar a hablarles de la serie, quiero contarles un poco sobre Selena Quintanilla, se trata de una cantante nacida en Estados Unidos cuyo genero era la música tejana a su corta edad logro catapultarse al éxito con grandes éxitos como amor prohibido, como la flor y bidibidibamba; su influencia fue tan grande que después de muerte las ventas de sus discos incremento en un 100% y los medios la catalogaron como “La Madona Tejana”.

   Hace unos años atrás se realizó la película que contaba algo de su vida, la misma estuvo protagonizada por Jennifer López y fue la producción que llevó a López a la cúspide. Para el año 2020, el padre y la hermana de la cantante produjeron SELENA LA SERIE; se trata de una producción bibliográfica sobre la vida de la cantante, la misma fue producida por Netflix y se trata de una versión más completa y además autorizada. La misma está constituida por dos temporadas cada una de 9 capítulos, protagonizada por Christian Serratos quien interpreta el personaje de Selena. La serie nos muestra la vida de la cantante desde que era una niña, la cual cantaba en ingles porque era su idioma natal pero su papá le insistió que cantara en español; se trataba de una familia de 5 personas donde el papa era el manager, su hermana tocaba la batería y su hermano el bajo eléctrico.

For the year 2020, the singer's father and sister produced SELENA LA SERIE; it is a bibliographic production about the singer's life, it was produced by Netflix and it is a more complete and authorized version. It consists of two seasons of 9 chapters each, starring Christian Serratos who plays the character of Selena. The series shows us the life of the singer since she was a child, who sang in English because it was her native language but her father insisted her to sing in Spanish; it was a family of 5 people where the father was the manager, her sister played the drums and her brother played the electric bass.

   La serie refleja que los abuelos de Selena eran de origen mexicano, sus padres eran estadounidenses pero de muy bajos recursos, de hecho en una oportunidad casi les toca dormir en un depósito, dormían los cinco en un solo cuarto algunos en el piso y otros en una cama, pero a su padre siempre le gusto la música y tenía mucha esperanza de que ella iba a llegar muy lejos, y la verdad no se equivocó. Una de las escenas que más me impacto fue cuando los contratan para un cumpleaños pero les piden que deben llevar el sonido y las luces, entonces el señor Abraham Quintanilla se lleva a su hijo A.B. Quintanilla y lo mete en un conteiner de basura para que recolectara latas de Durazno para poder hacer las luces y de esta manera cumplir con su compromiso en la fiesta.

   The series reflects that Selena's grandparents were of Mexican origin, her parents were American but of very low income, in fact in one occasion they almost had to sleep in a warehouse, the five of them slept in one room, some on the floor and others on a bed, but her father always liked music and had great hope that she would go far, and the truth was not wrong. One of the scenes that impacted me the most was when they were hired for a birthday party but they were asked to bring the sound and lights, then Mr. Abraham Quintanilla took his son A.B. Quintanilla and put him in a garbage container to collect peach cans to make the lights and thus fulfill his commitment to the party.

   Con respecto a mi opinión, la verdad debo confesarles que me alegra haberla visto, aunque no lo haría por segunda vez; sinceramente lloré demasiado con el desenlace de la misma. Siempre me gusta sacar algún tipo de aprendizaje de las películas o series que veo y sinceramente Selena es una serie que nos deja muchísimas enseñanzas; a veces nos gusta dar opiniones sobre la vida de las demás personas sin conocer la historia, detrás de cada logro, de cada éxito hay muchísimo sacrificio y ese fue el caso de Selena y los Dinos.

   Regarding my opinion, I must confess that I'm glad I watched it, although I wouldn't do it a second time; I honestly cried too much with the outcome of the series. I always like to learn something from the movies or series I watch and honestly Selena is a series that teaches us a lot; sometimes we like to give opinions about other people's lives without knowing the story, behind every achievement, every success there is a lot of sacrifice and that was the case of Selena and the Dinos.

   Una familia como cualquier otra, con sueños, anhelos, deseos de superación y con un talento para la música que trabajaron arduamente para poder vivir dignamente, muchas veces les cerraron las puertas y les negaron las oportunidades lograron llevar a la menor de sus hijos al éxito por la grandiosa voz que tenía y que en ocasiones creemos que existen profesiones que son fáciles, pero la verdad es que todo tiene su grado de complejidad. Es por eso que no debemos cuestionar el trabajo de los demás, mucho menos criticar porque no sabemos cuánto se tuvo esforzar una persona para lograr las cosas que actualmente tiene.

   A family like any other, with dreams, desires, desires for improvement and with a talent for music that worked hard to live with dignity, many times they closed the doors and denied them opportunities, they managed to take the youngest of their children to success because of the great voice she had and that sometimes we believe that there are professions that are easy, but the truth is that everything has its degree of complexity. That is why we should not question the work of others, much less criticize because we do not know how much effort a person had to make to achieve the things they currently have.

   Por otra parte, es muy triste el hecho de que una muchacha tan joven con un futuro extraordinario por delante haya muerto de la manera como lo hizo, y aquí es bueno hacer un paréntesis para acotar que la persona que lamentablemente le quito la vida a Selena era su mano derecha la administradora de su Club de Fans y de las Boutiques que ciertamente dio grandes indicios de obsesión y que la cantante no lo logró visualizar. Es por ello que resulta de mucha importancia no tomarnos a la ligera nuestra salud mental y la de nuestros familiares, es el momento de crear conciencia y de entender que asistir al psicólogo es como hacernos un chequeo con el ginecólogo, el odontólogo o cualquier otra especialidad y debemos darle la importancia que la misma tiene.

   On the other hand, it is very sad that such a young girl with an extraordinary future ahead of her died the way she did, and here it is good to make a parenthesis to note that the person who unfortunately took Selena's life was her right hand, the administrator of her Fan Club and Boutiques who certainly gave great signs of obsession and that the singer did not manage to visualize it. That is why it is very important not to take lightly our mental health and that of our families, it is time to raise awareness and understand that going to the psychologist is like having a checkup with the gynecologist, dentist or any other specialty and we must give it the importance it has.

   The series tells the story of Selena Quintanilla who is known as the Queen of Tejano Music and Grammy winner. Her rise to fame along with her family band "Los Dinos". She was about to record her first english language album until her tragic death.

   In the first season, you will see how Selena was molded into stardom by her father Abraham. Not only that, the band that they started was also composed of his brother AB and sister Suzette.

   Here you will see the struggles that the family went thru during their journey to the music industry.

   Their journey on the road shows the hardships that they went thru, how some of their popular songs were inspired and the closeness of the siblings.

   Not only was she a singer but also a businesswoman, model, and fashion designer. The costumes that they wore on stage were all designed by her. The cow print costume may look ridiculous but it definitely worked for them on stage.

   The series also shows the love of her life, Chris. A guitarist that was recruited by the band. Hearts clashes like a high school love affair and are full of romance. Love that is impossible to tear apart no matter what the odds.

   The popularity of the band has propelled them to stardom and won them a Grammy for their Live album. If her life was not cut short she would have made more hit songs. It seems that we have been cheated when Selena was taken away from us. In the series, you will see and imagine how she could have been an international sensation.

   The scenes during their performances are amazing and the aspect ratio switches to 4:3 to give you that old 90's nostalgia.

   As you watch season 2 you will feel very uncomfortable as you watch each episode. I feel that the beautiful story is coming to an end. I wish her story had a different ending. I have to admit that every time there is a scene with her killer Yolanda, I feel very irritated.

   The actress Christian Serratos played the role of Selena. If you are a fan of the walking dead you would know her as Rosita. She did a very good job with the role and seems to have brought Selena to life in the beautiful series. If you are a fan and even if you have not heard of Selena but love music, you should check out this series.
