.Hoy quiero compartirles esta serie increíble que logré ver y con la que me topé casi por accidente pero que agradezco haberlo hecho porque de otra forma tal vez no habría conocido de su existencia de no haber sido por andar hurgando entre el listado de series basadas en hechos reales.
Mi prima también me la recomendó pero no recuerdo haber prestado mucha atención hasta que pude ver el trailes y al ver que era Octiva Spencer" quien protagonizaba la serie, me enganchó aún más. Al ver todos los capítulos en un día, quedé muy intrigado por la historia base de la serie e indagando un poco pude encontrarme con una historia original, repleta de fracasos, traiciones y victorias en la vida de una mujer negra que fue pionera en la industria comercial de productos para el cabello en Estados Unidos.

Today I want to share with you this incredible series that I managed to watch and that I stumbled upon almost by accident but I'm thankful I did because otherwise I might not have known about its existence if it hadn't been for rummaging through the list of series based on real events.
My cousin also recommended it to me but I don't remember paying much attention until I was able to watch the trailer and when I saw that it was Octiva Spencer " starring in the series, I was even more hooked. Watching all the episodes in one day, I was very intrigued by the base story of the series and digging a little I found an original story, full of failures, betrayals and victories in the life of a black woman who was a pioneer in the commercial hair products industry in the United States.
Toda la serie está inspirada en la historia real (ya con eso tomó mi atención) de Madame CJ Walker, una mujer negra que en los años 1900 logró alcanzar fama, dinero y reconocimiento en todo Estados Unidos al convertirse en una de las mujeres de color más reconocidas del país, debido al éxito que logró al introducir al mercado una línea de productos para el cuidado del cabello de las mujeres de color, el cual no había sido comercializado correctamente para el tipo de cabello de las mujeres afromericanas.
Madame CJ Walker no tuvo una vida fácil, mucho menos tendría el mismo destino en el campo laboral, fueron muchos los tropiezos y los problemas que enfrentó antes de alcanzar dinero, fama y reconocimiento por su trabajo, pero al final todo aquello fue necesario para que pudiera ver los frutos de su esfuerzo.
The whole series is inspired by the true story (that got my attention) of Madame CJ Walker, a black woman who in the 1900s managed to achieve fame, money and recognition throughout the United States by becoming one of the most recognized women of color in the country, due to the success she achieved by introducing to the market a line of hair care products for women of color, which had not been marketed correctly for the type of hair of African-American women.
Madame CJ Walker did not have an easy life, much less would she have the same fate in the work field, there were many stumbles and problems she faced before achieving money, fame and recognition for her work, but in the end all that was necessary for her to see the fruits of her efforts.
En términos de producción estuvo increíble. Toda producción audiovisual que esté basada en una época distinta a la que vivimos y que se vea tan real y tan detallada como ocurrió con esta serie, merece ser reconocida por su producción, independientemente de lo que les parezca el resultado final; no es sencillo armar semejante representación visual de una época pasada solo para ser destruida por la crítica y la audiencia en base al resultado y la opinión personal de cada uno de nosotros.
Como buena serie limitada, solo cuenta con 4 episodios, pero todos tienen una carga importante dentro de la historia. No hubo realmente material innecesario, como suele ocurrir frecuentemente, dentro de la narrativa que envolvía la historia principal, todo fue relevante e importante para la construcción de la historia de Madame CJ Walker.
In terms of production it was incredible. Any audiovisual production that is based on a different era than the one we live in and that looks as real and as detailed as this series did, deserves to be recognized for its production, regardless of what they think of the final result; it is not easy to put together such a visual representation of a bygone era only to be destroyed by critics and the audience based on the result and the personal opinion of each one of us.
As a good limited series, it only has 4 episodes, but all of them have an important burden within the story. There was really no unnecessary material, as is often the case, within the narrative that wrapped up the main story, everything was relevant and important to the construction of the story of Madame CJ Walker.
Hablando del reparto, sin duda fueron las mujeres quienes lideraron las historias más interesantes dentro de la serie; Octiva Spencer" es una actriz versátil que ha sabido ganarse su puesto dentro de la industria, aunque creo que es necesario reconocer aún más su trabajo como actriz, esta serie fue sin duda otra forma de mostrar una parte de ella, como actriz, que en lo personal, no había visto antes y que me gustó mucho.
Pero quien me tomó verdaderamente por sorpresa en esta producción de Netflix como actriz fue Tiffany Haddish, si alguien mostró una faceta muy diferente a la que previamente se le había seleccionado, fue ella. Un trabajo mucho más serio y dramático del que le conocía previamente, fue una manera sutil pero firme de verla tomar un papel fuera de lo que habitualmente se le ve tomar en cine y televisión, fue agradable y sorprenderte verla actuar con un personaje tan interesante y relevante para la historia central de la serie.
Speaking of the cast, without a doubt it was the women who led the most interesting stories within the series; Octiva Spencer " is a versatile actress who has been able to earn her place within the industry, although I think it is necessary to recognize even more her work as an actress, this series was certainly another way to show a part of her, as an actress, that personally, I had not seen before and that I liked a lot.
But the one who truly took me by surprise in this Netflix production as an actress was Tiffany Haddish, if anyone showed a very different side to the one she was previously cast in, it was her. A much more serious and dramatic work than she was previously known for, it was a subtle but firm way to see her take on a role outside of what you usually see her take on in film and television, it was nice and surprising to see her act with such an interesting and relevant character to the central story of the series.
No sé que tantos efectos audiovisuales pudieron haber usado, al menos yo no noté muchos de ellos y si lo hicieron, a mi parecer, fueron o bastante sutiles o por el contrario, muy pocos. Normalmente en este tipo de producciones, se ve el uso de efectos especiales para recrear lugares específicos que ya no están de pie.
La serie es adaptada del libro biográfico "On Her Own Ground" de A'Lelia Bundles, el cual estoy seguro está lleno de algunos otros detalles interesante que no fueron incluidos en la serie y que rodearon la vida personal y profesional de la famosa y multimillonaria empresaria norteamericana.
I don't know how many audiovisual effects they could have used, at least I didn't notice many of them and if they did, in my opinion, they were either quite subtle or on the contrary, very few. Normally in these types of productions, you see the use of special effects to recreate specific locations that are no longer standing.
The series is adapted from the biographical book "On Her Own Ground " by A'Lelia Bundles, which I'm sure is full of some other interesting details that were not included in the series and that surrounded the personal and professional life of the famous American billionaire businesswoman.
La serie el 100% recomendada de mi parte, no duden en verla, son solo 4 episodios, bien interesante y con un tiempo de duración no mayor a 1 hora por episodio. Espero tengan la oportunidad de disfrutar de esta serie y que puedan conocer la increíble historia de Madame CJ Walker y el camino que recorrió antes de llegar a la meta final en su vida personal y profesional.

.The series is 100% recommended by me, do not hesitate to watch it, there are only 4 episodes, very interesting and with a duration of no more than 1 hour per episode. I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy this series and get to know the incredible story of Madame CJ Walker and the road she traveled before reaching the final goal in her personal and professional life.
