A horror, mystery, and romance film unlike anything ever seen before in the world of cinema. Plot

The film begins by showing us a man who appears to be someone important fleeing in a carriage in the middle of the night with his son. However, a rider dressed in black appears on the road, quickly overtakes them, and a sharp cut is heard just outside the carriage. When the landowner looks out, he realizes that his son, who was driving the carriage, has been decapitated. The man jumps out of the carriage into a huge cornfield where he encounters a scarecrow with a pumpkin head. However, his fright will be the last thing he experiences, as the horseman immediately kills him as well.

You have no idea how long I've wanted to review this movie. When I think of Tim Burton, one of the first movies that comes to mind is Sleepy Hollow, and with good reason. Personally, I consider it one of the best movies (if not the best movie) this great director has ever made. And I'm not just saying that because of the enormous nostalgia it evokes in me, as it's one of the movies I've seen the most times in my life since I was a child. But also because its story and characters are very, very well developed.

While it's true that Sleepy Hollow is known as a horror movie, I personally think that this type of movie that Tim Burton makes is very different from the typical horror movies we see in theaters today. Burton not only transports us to a dark, macabre, and mysterious world, but also shows us characters that can easily make you scream in fear at night if you're alone. But what makes this director very different from others is that he doesn't scare us with simple Jumpscares or shocking scenes with lots of special effects.

No tienen ni idea de cuánto tiempo he deseado hacerle una reseña a esta película. Cuando pienso en Tim Burton, una de las primeras películas que se me vienen a la mente es Sleepy Hollow y no es de menos. Personalmente considero que es de las mejores películas (para no decir la mejor película) que este grandioso director ha hecho. Y no solo lo digo por la enorme nostalgia que me genera, siendo de las películas que más veces he visto en mi vida desde que era pequeño. Sino también porque su historia y sus personajes están muy, pero muy bien desarrollados.

Si bien es cierto que Sleepy Hollow es conocida como una película de terror, personalmente pienso que este tipo de películas que hace Tim Burton es muy diferente al típico terror que vemos en cines en la actualidad. Burton no solo nos transporta a un mundo oscuro, macabro y misterioso, sino que también nos muestra personajes que fácilmente pueden hacerte gritar del susto en la noche, si estás a solas. Pero lo que hace que éste director sea muy distinto a los demás es que no nos llega a asustar con simples Jumpscares o escenas impactantes con muchos efectos especiales.

In Sleepy Hollow, he introduces us to the United States at the end of the 18th century, where we meet Ichabod Crane, a police officer from New York City. But the most disturbing thing of all is who is committing these murders: a Headless Horseman. Our skeptical protagonist will not only have to solve the case, but also face an immortal entity that is an expert at decapitating human heads. At first glance, it may sound like a supernatural thriller based on what you've just read, and yes, it may be. However, the mix of mystery and drama in this film makes it something more.

On the one hand, we have a supernatural horror story about a Headless Horseman who decapitates people at night. But on the other hand, we have the question of who is behind these murders, which, curiously, are not random, but are being orchestrated by someone alive who has control over this dangerous supernatural being. The interesting thing about all this is how our protagonist discovers a series of secrets about this town and its inhabitants that are somehow related to the murders. Tim Burton is a genius at creating terror with his gothic style, but he also has a knack for mystery.

However, I think this film took all this to its peak by mixing these elements into a gloomy, dark, and quite disturbing story. The craziest thing of all is that the film doesn't just stop there, but also tells us a love story between the protagonist and the daughter of the wealthy Baltus Van Tassel, Katrina. As cliché as this may sound, I must admit that what we can take away from this love story between these characters is not bad. We also see a somewhat interesting development in terms of our protagonist, Ichabod Crane.

Por un lado tenemos una historia de terror sobrenatural de un jinete sin cabeza que decapita a gente en las noches. Pero por otro lado tenemos el caso de quién está detrás de dichos asesinatos que, curiosamente, no son al azar, sino que están siendo orquestados por alguien vivo que posee control de este peligroso ser sobrenatural. Por muy cliché que suene esto, debo admitir que no está mal lo que podemos extraer de dicha historia de amor entre estos personajes. Vemos también un desarrollo un tanto interesante en cuanto a nuestro protagonista, Ichabod Crane.

It is at this point that I would like to mention one of those invaluable details that this film has and that can easily go unnoticed. The origin of our protagonist's disbelief and constant fear throughout the film stems from his dark past as a child living with his parents. So as not to give away any more spoilers, I'll just mention that the flashbacks we see from his past, which manifest as nightmares in the film, are some of the most disturbing things ever. We see a rather dark yet accurate vision of the director's opinion of the radical beliefs of that era.

Apart from the famous final scene with the Headless Horseman, another scene that disturbed me as a child was one of those nightmares from our protagonist's past. I repeat, the way Tim Burton approaches topics such as witchcraft, the radical clergy of that era, and the world of the dead is both fascinating and disturbing. I like how he plays with these elements to give us characters with scenes and outcomes that have a rather shocking effect. The film is made so that, from the beginning, we see details and scenes that make you think about what is happening in this dark town of Sleepy Hollow.

Es en este punto en el que me gustaría mencionar uno de esos detalles invaluables que tiene esta película y que fácilmente pueden quedarse desapercibidos. El origen de la incredulidad y el temor constante que posee nuestro protagonista a lo largo de la película se debe a su oscuro pasado cuando era niño y vivía con sus padres. Para no darles más spoilers, solo les mencionaré que dichos flashbacks que vemos de su pasado y que se manifiestan como pesadillas en la película son de lo más perturbador que hay. Vemos una visión bastante oscura y a la vez acertada de lo que opina el director con respecto a dichas creencias radicales de aquella época.

Aparte de la famosa escena final del Jinete sin Cabeza, otra de las escenas que me perturbaron desde pequeño era una de esas pesadillas del pasado de nuestro protagonista. Repito, la forma en la que Tim Burton aborda temas como la brujería, los clérigos radicales de esa época y el mundo de los muertos es tanto fascinante como a la vez perturbadora. Me gusta cómo él juega con estos elementos para darnos personajes con escenas y desenlaces que causan un resultado bastante impactante. La película está hecha para que, desde el principio, veamos detalles y escenas que te ponen a pensar sobre lo que sucede en este oscuro pueblo de Sleepy Hollow.

And if all that weren't enough, the film also deals with other themes such as envy, greed, lust, and revenge. It is striking to see that, in contrast to all the supernatural creatures, graphic scenes, blood, and deaths, this story tells us of a tragic case of revenge in a family that stems from one of the darkest periods in human history. The way Tim Burton shows us how twisted and cruel people can be makes you think about what should really terrify us. Obviously, he doesn't lag behind with the supernatural.

Especially when it comes to one of the darkest, most dangerous, and disturbing antagonists in history: the Headless Horseman. The image we are given of this character is terrifying even in life, with his dark appearance and fang-like teeth. Both the origin of his death and everything we see happening throughout this film give us a clear idea that there are people who are definitely the embodiment of evil in life. The cold and cruel way he kills, without distinguishing between men, women, and children, is one of the most remarkable aspects of this character.

Y por si no fuera suficiente con todo esto, la película también trata otros temas como la envidia, la codicia, la lujuria y la venganza. Es impactante ver que, en contraste con todas las criaturas sobrenaturales, escenas gráficas, sangre y muertes; esta historia nos cuenta un caso trágico de venganza en una familia que nace de una de las épocas más oscuras de la historia humana. But what definitely caused me both disturbance and fascination at the same time was that iconic and unforgettable scene at the end. I don't want to give you any more spoilers than what you can see in the GIFs I'll include in this review, but I'll just say that it's totally crazy. Imagine seeing such a graphic scene when you're only five or seven years old. I definitely had an incredible childhood, now that I think about it. But anyway, Tim Burton not only gives us graphic and disturbing scenes like this one, but also a series of action scenes, chases, and even explosions that are fascinating.

Let's not forget the humor in this film. Because yes, despite being a horror, mystery, romance, and suspense film, it also has its touch of humor hidden here and there. Especially when it comes to the protagonist himself. His way of being, of speaking, and of reacting to everything is, for me, one of the most entertaining aspects of this film. There are scenes where it's hard not to laugh at Johnny Depp's excellent performance and interpretation of Ichabod Crane. On the other hand, the performances of the other members of the cast are also excellent, especially Christopher Walker as the Headless Horseman.

Tampoco hay que olvidarse del humor que tiene esta película. Porque sí, a pesar de ser de terror, misterio, romance y suspenso; la película también posee su toque de humor por ahí escondido. Sobre todo en cuanto a lo que respecta al protagonista como tal. Su forma de ser, de hablar y de reaccionar a cada cosa es -para mí- de lo más divertido que tiene esta película. Hay escenas en las que es difícil no reírse por la excelente actuación e interpretación de Johnny Depp como Ichabod Crane. Por otro lado, las actuaciones de los demás miembros de este elenco también son excelentes, sobre todo Christopher Walker como el Jinete sin Cabeza.

Last but not least, let's talk about the audiovisual aspect of this film. At the end of the 1990s, Tim Burton surpassed himself when directing Sleepy Hollow. Its dark, archaic, and cold art style is one of the best. The same goes for the cinematography, static shots, transitions, visual effects, dark color palettes, and impressive use of shadows. The views of the village, cemeteries, and forest add a lot to the film's atmosphere. There's also the makeup and costumes, which are quite dark and opaque, even when they're dresses, suits, and even white wigs.

The design of the Headless Horseman is particularly striking, especially because of the way he dresses. The use of practical visual effects is something that Tim Burton is known for, and this film is no exception. From the corpses, severed heads, pumpkins, and even the blood itself, everything looks almost real because of this. On the other hand, it must be admitted that CGI was also used at the end of the film, and personally, I think it looked very good for the time. The sound effects are also very striking, but nothing compares to the impressive soundtrack of this film, which was once again composed by Danny Elfman. In short, I recommend this film as a must-see.

Personally, I give it a well-deserved rating of 10/10 in terms of the horror, mystery, supernatural, romance, and action genres.

Por último, pero no menos importante, hablemos ahora del apartado audiovisual que tiene esta película. Justo a finales de los 90, Tim Burton llegó a superarse a sí mismo al momento de dirigir Sleepy Hollow. El estilo de arte oscuro, arcaico y frío que posee es de lo mejor. Lo mismo sucede con el estilo de fotografía, planos fijos, transiciones, efectos visuales, paletas de colores oscuros y un uso de sombras bastante impresionante. Las vistas del pueblo, los cementerios y el bosque le agregan bastante ambientación a la película. También está el maquillaje y las vestimentas que usan, las cuales son bastante oscuras y opacas, incluso cuando son vestidos, trajes y hasta peluquines blancos.

El diseño del Jinete sin Cabeza es de lo más llamativo, sobre todo por su forma de vestir. El uso de efectos visuales prácticos es algo que destaca bastante a Tim Burton y en esta película no se queda atrás. Desde los cadáveres, las cabezas cercenadas, las calabazas y hasta la propia sangre se ve casi real debido a esto. Por otro lado, algo que sí hay que admitir es que también usaron CGI al final de la película y, en lo personal, quedó muy bien para la época. Los efectos de sonido también llaman mucho la atención, pero nada como la impresionante banda sonora que tiene esta película y que fue hecha, una vez más, por Danny Elfman. En fin, les dejo esta película que tienen que ver sí o sí.

Personalmente, le doy una merecida calificación de 10/10 en lo que respecta al género de terror, misterio, sobrenatural, romance y acción.

People around the world are, thanks to Hollywood, often more familiar with American than with their own nations’ literatures. Hollywood adaptations, however, tend to have very little in common with their literary source. This happened with “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, 1820 short story by Washington Irving which is considered one of the earliest American literary classics and which was extremely loosely adapted in 1999 into Sleepy Hollow, horror film directed by Tim Burton.

The plot is set in 1799 and the protagonist is Ichabod Crane (played by Johnny Depp), New York police constable convinced that at the turn of new century law enforcement must apply modern methods based on science. His superiors aren’t enthusiastic about him and his ideas, so they are happy to send him to Sleepy Hollow, small town in upstate New York where local population became prey of vicious murderer that decapitates victims. When Crane inquires about possible suspects among town elders, he is much surprised to find that they believe that the perpetrator is Headless Horsemen, Hessian mercenary who apparently rose from Hell to restore his own head severed by townsfolk during Revolutionary War. Crane considers this a product of superstition and starts working hard to prove superiority of modern science to frightened people. But, soon Crane finds that some problems can be solved by science alone. One is the love he began to feel towards Katrina (played by Christina Ricci), daughter of town elder Balthus Van Tassell (played by Michael Gambon). The other is increasing evidence that the murderer actually isn’t from this world.

The original script for Sleepy Hollow was written by Andrew Kevin Walker, screenwriter made famous for his extremely dark thriller Se7en. Walker based his work on the idea of makeup effects master Kevin Yagher, who was supposed to direct the film. In the end, Paramount Pictures hired Tim Burton to direct and had British playwright Tom Stoppard rewrite the script, forcing Walker to disown his work. Burton, on the other hand, was very interested in turning Sleepy Hollow into combination of dark comedy and horror film like those made by British studio Hammer Films few decades ago (and whose star Christopher Lee briefly appears in cameo at the start of the film). Burton was also very keen to be reunited with Johnny Depp, actor with whom he had collaborated with some of his best films.

This time, however, Burton and Depp didn’t produce another classic. The main issue was Burton’s tendency to put style over substance and the script of Sleepy Hollow often suffers because of lack of balance between horror and humour. At times, the film is too infantile to work even as Gothic horror, while it is too bloody and disturbing to function as quirky comedy. Some glaring errors – like Crane’s bold claim that in 1800 begins new millennium – don’t help impression either. On the other hand, Burton, with the help of cinematographer Emanuel Lubezki establishes impressive look of the film, while English locations are put to good use in recreating late 18th Century America. Burton’s old associate Danny Elfman also provides another good music score. The cast, led by always dependable Depp, is also very good. Christine Ricci, on the other hand, represents exception because of her lack chemistry with Depp. However, those viewers who don’t complain about lack of faithfulness in Hollywood adaptations of literary work or those who are fans of Burton’s work probably would probably like this film.

Quiero ser El Jinete sin Cabeza para así poder tomar por la fuerza aquello que no puedo tener, llevarme a Ivana a los Inframundos mientras le arranco la lengua de un beso. Una lectura demencial acorde con el tono de Sleepy Hollow, una atmosfera azul muy fría llena de superstición que logra envolver el núcleo de lo que es ese personaje mítico al que llaman Jinete sin Cabeza mientras veo danzar a la doncella de hierro antes de ejecutar a la inocencia.

La película maneja una idea racional, científica que inmediatamente sucumbe ante el misterio, lo prohibido que es esa simpatía por el diablo ya que el jinete solo viene si alguien le invita. Dirigida por Tim Burton el cual es un director que logra ejecutar una imaginación real como si fuera algo sencillo, sus mundos siempre me sorprenden porque veo una historia fantasiosa que logro creerme, mi mente simplemente baila con la secuencia de imágenes y puesta en escena.

Cuando se lleva personajes en letras donde el papel aguanta todo a una representación cinematográfica, la elección de casting es vital y en esta película la veo perfecta, nado y me ahogo en el mundo de Sleepy Hollow porque sus actores entran en armonía con los personajes visualmente hablando, veo maldad en ellos, esto es lo mas potente en la película.

Una Christina Ricci que tiene una visual con la que se puede jugar para sacar lo mejor de su caracterización, su look victoriano me deja sin aliento además que ella aporta mucho porque su talento es indudable al darle personalidad a sus personajes, un Christopher Walken al cual aplica todo lo anterior mencionado, el es El Jinete sin Cabeza, diré mucho mas de este monstruo en la zona con spoilers porque es el que me hace subir esta película a 8 chiquitos de 10, no me canso de verla por la brutalidad que maneja y aunque su trama tiene detalles, el Jinete simplemente me vuela la cabeza.

I want to be The Headless Horseman so I can take by force what I can't have, take Ivana to the Underworld while I kiss her and tear off her tongue. A demented reading in keeping with the tone of Sleepy Hollow, a very cold blue atmosphere full of superstition that manages to envelop the core of what is that mythical character they call the Headless Horseman as I watch the iron maiden dance before executing innocence.

The film handles a rational, scientific idea that immediately succumbs to the mystery, the forbidden that is that sympathy for the devil as the horseman only comes if someone invites him. Directed by Tim Burton who is a director that manages to execute a real imagination as if it were something simple, his worlds always surprise me because I see a fantasy story that I manage to believe, my mind simply dances with the sequence of images and staging.

When you take characters in letters where the paper holds everything to a cinematic representation, the casting choice is vital and in this film I see it perfect, I swim and drown in the world of Sleepy Hollow because its actors come in harmony with the characters visually speaking, I see evil in them, this is the most powerful thing in the film.

A Christina Ricci who has a visual that can be played with to get the best out of her characterization, her Victorian look leaves me breathless plus she contributes a lot because her talent is unquestionable in giving personality to her characters, a Christopher Walken to which applies all of the above mentioned, He is The Headless Horseman, I will say much more about this monster in the spoiler zone because he is the one that makes me raise this movie to 8 out of 10, I can't get enough of watching it because of the brutality it handles and although its plot has details, the Horseman simply blows my mind.

Una vez mencionada las razones para animar al espectador a ver este film, iniciare Zona de Spoilers para aquellos que la vieron y se animan a compartir opiniones en la zona de comentarios sobre lo que les agrado y no.

Lo que mas me ha agradado del film es El Jinete sin Cabeza, esa historia de ser un mercenario cruel con encantadora personalidad y Capa que hace se imponga visualmente, llama tanto mi atención que de niño quería ser el, el modo en que maneja la espada y el hacha para decapitar a sus víctimas es sublime. Su personalidad se muestra con pocos segundos donde se le ve interactuando con dos niñitas solas en el bosque y les hace la seña de que hagan silencio con los dedos mientras una rompe una rama porque esta viendo a un monstruo simplemente es encantador.

El estilo prevalece en este ser para que llegue a la psiquis del espectador, conserva una capa que llega hasta el suelo, botas con espuelas y un caballo negro que pueden petrificar hasta el mas valiente dando muestra de su presencia que esta al máximo poder en el film, la forma en que decapita pareciera que hace botar humo del cuello cercenado de sus víctimas y cuando conocemos su rostro de dientes afilados que arranca de un beso la lengua de su controladora es perturbador.

La película en su primer acto tiene un toque científico a través del protagonista interpretado por Jhonny deep, elemento que critico un poco porque no se desarrolla mucho en la película, simplemente sirve de excusa para llevarnos a lo que de verdad quiere transmitir el director y es la superstición, lo sobrenatural haciéndose realidad y pisoteando a la ciencia.

El protagonista es mandado a investigar casos de asesinato a Sleepy Hollow, en esta misión aplica sus conocimientos científicos y casi que de inmediato empieza lo sobrenatural y las decapitaciones. Esto me agrado porque es un film que no se dedica a investigar de más, su enfoque es lo desconocido para descubrir el por que de los crímenes para que el Jinete haga despliegue de su poderío.

La trama sinceramente no es complicada, se tiene una villana llamada Lady Van Tassel muy bien desarrollada, que físicamente me atrae y que manipula al Jinete sin Cabeza con el único objetivo de heredar riquezas. Esto es lo que entendí del film y pienso que se desarrolla bien pero se desperdicia un poco ese propósito de la madrastra de Katrina al ser algo tan banal como solo dinero, muchachona controlas al Jinete, eso es poder, la veo como una bruja que pudiera establecer mas control en el pueblo, le falta un poco de estrategia pero de resto, me maravilla visualmente y el como le arranca la lengua el Jinete de un Beso, eso si que es arte plus una escena en la que su mano ya muerta hace un ultimo y delicado movimiento, muchachones por favor que escena, solo de recordarlo me dan ganas de volverla a ver.

Una escena que quiero resaltar es que nuestro protagonista presenta un trauma psicológico de niño. Este arco pienso para el film enriquece al protagonista y permite conocerlo aun más, ahora esta es la razón argumental para presentar una escena que es exquisita ya que la madre del protagonista muere por una cruel tortura en la doncella de hierro que es una maquina con forma de bóveda donde se encierra a la víctima para ser atravesada por púas de metal colocadas estratégicamente con el objetivo de causar la mayor agonía posible en puntos claves que no causen la muerte inmediatamente.

Recuerdo de pequeño que me daba mucha tristeza la forma en que ella murió porque no era una mala persona, era bella y le gustaba bailar, el director usa bien este elemento y la actriz lo ejecuta perfecto con movimientos femeninos que pareciera se moviera a la inversa, es hipnotizante como lo hace y ella solo era feliz con sus flores. Su arco es muy corto pero como marca al espectador, al menos en mi caso lo hizo porque la recuerdo muy bien toda su danza de inocencia y alegría en medio de un frio y oscuro tono en el que se desarrolla la película para dar fin a su vida dentro de la doncella de hierro.

Having mentioned the reasons to encourage the viewer to see this film, I will start Spoiler Zone for those who saw it and are encouraged to share opinions in the comments area about what they liked and disliked.

What I liked most about the film is The Headless Horseman, that story of being a cruel mercenary with charming personality and Capa that makes it visually imposes, it draws my attention so much that as a child I wanted to be him, the way he handles the sword and ax to decapitate his victims is sublime. His personality is shown with a few seconds where he is seen interacting with two little girls alone in the forest and makes them the sign to be quiet with their fingers while one breaks a branch because she is seeing a monster is simply charming.

The style prevails in this being to reach the psyche of the viewer, retains a cloak that reaches to the ground, boots with spurs and a black horse that can petrify even the bravest showing his presence that is at maximum power in the film, the way he decapitates seems to blow smoke from the severed neck of his victims and when we know his face with sharp teeth that kisses the tongue of his controller is disturbing.

The film in its first act has a scientific touch through the protagonist played by Johnny Deep, an element that I criticize a little because it does not develop much in the film, it simply serves as an excuse to take us to what the director really wants to convey and that is superstition, the supernatural becoming reality and trampling science.

The protagonist is sent to investigate murder cases in Sleepy Hollow, in this mission he applies his scientific knowledge and almost immediately begins the supernatural and decapitations. I liked this because it is a film that is not dedicated to investigate too much, its focus is on the unknown to discover the why of the crimes so that the Horseman can display his power.

The plot is honestly not complicated, it has a very well developed villain named Lady Van Tassel, who physically attracts me and who manipulates the Headless Horseman with the sole purpose of inheriting wealth. This is what I understood from the film and I think it is well developed but it wastes a bit that purpose of Katrina's stepmother to be something as banal as just money, girl you control the Horseman, that's power, I see her as a witch who could establish more control in the village, It lacks a bit of strategy but otherwise, I marvel visually and how the Horseman tears out her tongue with a kiss, that is art plus a scene in which her dead hand makes a last and delicate movement, guys please what a scene, just remembering it makes me want to see it again.

One scene I want to highlight is that our protagonist presents a psychological trauma as a child. This arc I think for the film enriches the protagonist and allows to know him even more, now this is the plot reason to present a scene that is exquisite as the protagonist's mother dies by a cruel torture in the iron maiden which is a machine shaped like a vault where the victim is locked to be pierced by metal spikes strategically placed with the aim of causing the greatest possible agony in key points that do not cause death immediately.

I remember as a child that it made me very sad the way she died because she was not a bad person, she was beautiful and liked to dance, the director uses this element well and the actress executes it perfectly with feminine movements that seem to move in reverse, it is mesmerizing how she does it and she was just happy with her flowers. Her arc is very short but as it marks the viewer, at least in my case it did because I remember her very well all her dance of innocence and joy in the middle of a cold and dark tone in which the film develops to end her life inside the iron maiden.

El director usa a las actrices con maestría tanto en un camino del bien, como del mal. En el caso de Katrina que es una protagonista clásica, una doncella en peligro, maneja muy bien sus expresiones en este mundo de Sleepy Hollow que ha creado el director.

En la trama es un elemento importante porque es la última a eliminar cosa que pienso es un poco forzada pero la agradezco ya que permite el personaje se desarrolle y que me encanta mirar a Christina Ricci desenvolverse en este mundo de decapitaciones, a pesar de ser en teoría un elemento débil, ella enfrenta, ve sin tanto pavor cabezas decapitadas y muertes que realiza el Jinete. Uno de sus pretendientes que esta simplemente para morir esta gracias a ella y en si el personaje siente atracción inmediata por nuestro protagonista.

Un buen montaje de escena donde ella es uno de los personajes a proteger en la iglesia, dejo una pequeña crítica en la que no entiendo bien si el jinete no entra porque es sitio santo pero independientemente de eso, el verlo acechar a katrina mientras masacra con estilo fuera de la iglesia es alucinante sobre todo porque en la película pienso se hace un uso de efectos prácticos que llegan mas a mi mente y me hacen creer más lo que estoy observando, sobre todo las cabezas decapitadas cuando salen del árbol entre otras, estos elementos reales pueden hacer mucha diferencia y los extraño porque ahora todo es computadora y no es muy de mi agrado eso.

Una historia simple porque la villana no busca mas pero muy bien ejecutada con adornos de tortura que complementan su atmósfera y un tono frío que calza perfectamente con las decapitaciones realizadas por uno de mis monstruo favoritos, El Jinete sin Cabeza, merecidos 8 chiquitos de 10 por lo entretenida que es y que a pesar de las décadas, la disfruto como cuando la vi de niño.

Dedicados todos y cada uno de mis post y videos a mi perrita llamada princesa que le decíamos chiquito que ya no está con nosotros pero desde el cielo ella verá que su existencia SI fue valiosa y lo más bonito que existirá en mi corazón y en mi alma.

The director uses the actresses with mastery both in a path of good and evil. In the case of Katrina who is a classic protagonist, a maiden in danger, she handles her expressions very well in this world of Sleepy Hollow that the director has created.

In the plot she is an important element because she is the last to be eliminated which I think is a little forced but I appreciate it because it allows the character to develop and I love watching Christina Ricci unwind in this world of decapitations, despite being in theory a weak element, she faces, she sees without so much dread decapitated heads and deaths that the Horseman performs. One of her suitors who is simply there to die is thanks to her and the character feels immediate attraction for our protagonist.

A good scene setup where she is one of the characters to protect in the church, I leave a small criticism in which I do not understand well if the horseman does not enter because it is holy place but regardless of that, watching him stalking Katrina while he massacres with style outside the church is amazing especially because in the movie I think there is a use of practical effects that come more to my mind and make me believe more what I'm watching, especially the decapitated heads when they come out of the tree among others, these real elements can make a lot of difference and I miss them because now everything is computer and I don't like that very much.

A simple story because the villain is not looking for more but very well executed with ornaments of torture that complement its atmosphere and a cold tone that fits perfectly with the decapitations performed by one of my favorite monsters, The Headless Horseman, deserved 8 kids out of 10 for how entertaining it is and that despite the decades, I enjoy it as when I saw it as a child.

Hello, Internet people! This time I want to tell you about one of the movies of one of my favorite directors and starring my beloved Johnny Deep. It is Sleepy Hollow, a 1999 film directed by Tim Burton and starring Christina Ricci and Johnny Deep.

¡Hola, gente de Internet! En esta ocasión quiero hablarles de una de las películas de uno de mis directores preferidos y protagonizada por mi amado Johnny Deep. Se trata de Sleepy Hollow, película de 1999, dirigida por Tim Burton y protagonizada por Christina Ricci y Johnny Deep.

Based on one of the most famous stories called The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and which is part of the book: The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, written by Washington Irving in 1820. Tim Burton reimagines in his film the whole original story and I must admit that he doesn't do it in a bad way but I have some problems with the story, but I will talk about that later, I just wanted to make clear that the film only takes the important facts of the story but the development is totally different.

Partiendo de uno de los relatos más famosos llamado La leyenda de Sleepy Hollow, y el cuál forma parte del libro: The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, escrito por Washington Irving en 1820. Tim Burton reimagina en sus cinta toda la historia original y debo admitir que no lo hace de una mala manera, pero tengo algunos problemas con la historia, sin embargo de eso hablaré más adelante, solo quería dejar claro que la película únicamente toma los datos importantes del relato pero el desarrollo es totalmente diferente.

Let's start with my favorite aspect: photography. To make this more organized I'll start with one of the components of photography, the shots. Tim Burton employs quite a few open shots, some close ups and one of my favorite types of shots, subjective shots. I know this is a review and not a cinematography class, but I like to be explicit and you can learn something new.

Empecemos con mi aspecto preferido: la fotografía. Para hacer esto más organizado empezaré por uno de los componentes de la fotografía, los planos. Tim Burton emplea bastantes tomas abiertas, algunos close up y uno de mis tipos de planos preferidos, los planos subjetivos. Se que esto es una review y no una clase de cinematografía pero me gusta ser explicita y además pueden aprender algo nuevo.

The subjective shots are those that do not allow us to appreciate the totality of a scene, that is to say that they focus more on secondary characters, they only focus on a part of the body of the incognito character or protagonist of the scene or they use the blur, all to preserve the mystery around the character of interest, in this case, the headless horseman. All his initial scenes are subjective, focusing on his victims, the legs of his horse, the road, his sword and even the first deaths have an ambiguity in showing us one quite explicit and the other subjective as a foretaste of what will be the film's filmic composition.

Los planos subjetivos son aquellos que no nos permiten apreciar la totalidad de una escena, es decir que enfoca más a personajes secundarios, solo enfocan una parte del cuerpo del personaje incógnito o protagonista de la escena, o emplean el desenfoque, todo para preservar el misterio en torno al personaje de interés, en este caso, el jinete sin cabeza. Todas sus escenas iniciales son subjetivas, se enfoca a sus víctimas, las patas de su caballo, el camino, su espada e incluso las primeras muertes tienen una ambigüedad en mostrarnos una bastante explícita y otra subjetiva como un abrebocas de lo que será la composición fílmica de la película.

One thing I hated was the opening credits, they were literally across the screen, which distracted from the opening scenes of Ichabod traveling to Sleepy Hollow and it's a shame because the shots were beautiful, I think choosing to put the credits on one side or the other of the screen would have been a good choice, so the viewer decides whether to read them or not, and they are still on the tape without causing distractions. I should clarify that this is not an error per se, but a personal opinion.

Algo que detesté fue los créditos iniciales, estaban atravesados en la pantalla literalmente, lo que distraía de las escenas iniciales de Ichabod viajando a Sleepy Hollow, y es una pena porque las tomas eran preciosas, creo que optar por poner los créditos a un lado u otro de la pantalla habría sido un acierto, así el espectador decide si leerlos o no, y siguen estando en la cinta sin causar distracciones. Debo aclarar que no es un error en sí, sino una opinión personal.

The color palette is almost entirely monochromatic, we can only see some color in the Van Tassel's party and this is due to the theme or genre that this film wants to present: mystery and gothic horror. Burton used this palette again and the same filter years later in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. That cloudy sky gray filter makes the day always look the same and we don't know if it's getting light or dark (which helps the uncertainty) and also helps the setting and atmosphere.

La paleta de colores es casi en su totalidad monocromática, solo podemos ver algo de color en la fiesta de los Van Tassel, y esto es debido a la temática o género que esta película quiere presentarnos: misterio y terror gótico. Burton volvió a emplear esta paleta y el mismo filtro años más tarde en Sweeney Tood: el barbero demoníaco de la calle Fleet. Ese filtro gris de cielo nublado hace que el día siempre se vea igual y no sepamos si está amaneciendo u oscureciendo (lo que ayuda a la incertidumbre) y lo que también ayuda a la ambientación y atmósfera.

And speaking of this aspect, it was the one that gave the Oscar to the film and it is very well worked, the cloudy sky, dark forests and a village with hostile inhabitants is a cocktail for a good horror movie and a setting of 10 in this genre.

Y hablando de este aspecto, fue el que le otorgó el Oscar a la película, y es que está muy bien trabajado, el cielo nublado, bosques oscuros y una aldea con habitantes hostiles es un coctel para una buena pelí de horror y una ambientación de 10 en este género.

I thought the story was good but there were some details that I didn´t like, such as the appearance of the witch that Ichabod consults, when she goes into a trance and shows her face, her appearance was a bit cartoonish, completely taking away the atmosphere of mystery and uncertainty that had been generated at the beginning when Ichabod entered her lair.

La historia me pareció buena pero hay algunos detalles que no me terminaron de encajar como el aspecto de la bruja que Ichabod consulta, cuando entra en trance y muestra su cara, su aspecto se me hizo un poco caricaturesco, quitando por completo la atmósfera de misterio e incertidumbre que habían generado al inicio cuando Ichabod entró en su guarida.

I like how at the beginning, Ichabod proposes a criminal case around the murders in Sleepy Hollow, and the locals attribute it to something paranormal.

Me gusta como al inicio, Ichabod propone un caso criminal en torno a los asesinatos en Sleepy Hollow, y los lugareños lo atribuyen a algo paranormal.

In fact, if we talk about the characters, I think the one who really has a good development is Ichabod. He is a condestable (highest authority on behalf of a king) who also seems to be a forensic scientist and chemist. Because of his limited and closed personality and opinion due to his disbelief for the paranormal and his scientific knowledge, he is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the massacre of the place.

De hecho, si hablamos de los personajes, creo que realmente el que tiene un buen desarrollo es Ichabod. Él es un condestable (máxima autoridad en nombre de un rey) que además parece ser forense, científico y químico. De acuerdo a su personalidad y opinión limitada y cerrada debido a su incredulidad por lo paranormal y sus conocimientos científicos, es enviado a Sleepy Hollow para que investigue la masacre del lugar.

Ichabod's personality is quite particular, his eccentricity is exaggerated by Johnny to make a gap between the rest of the townspeople, as they have different positions. It is an artistic and developed way by Johnny to graph the opinions and thoughts of his character, that we can not only hear him when he gives his opinion but we can also see him when he gives his opinion.

La personalidad de Ichabod es bastante particular, su excentricidad es exagerada por Johnny para hacer una brecha entre el resto de la gente del pueblo, ya que tienen posturas diferentes. Es una forma artística y desarrollada por Johnny de graficar las opiniones y pensamientos de su personaje, que no solo lo podamos escuchar cuando da su opinión, sino que también podamos verlo.

The rest of the actors, act well but their characters are quite flat, without development. At least they should be there because they add situations and discoveries necessary for the plot of the film, but in terms of an evolution on their part, they were left in the attempt.

El resto de los actores, actúan bien pero sus personajes son bastante planos, sin desarrollo. Al menos deben estar ahí porque suman situaciones y descubrimientos necesarios para la trama de la película, pero en cuanto a una evolución de su parte, se quedaron en el intento.

Another thing I didn't like is that from time to time I was able to guess accurately what would happen next or who was behind the crime, and that is that they do not leave the culprit to speculation, but shortly before the climax of the film and we are revealed who is responsible in a not at all subtle way and that only a clueless person would not associate.

Otra cosa que no me gustó es que de vez en vez pude adivinar acertivamente lo que sucedería a continuación, o quien estaba detrás del crimen, y es que no dejan al culpable a la especulación, sino que poco antes del clímax de la película ya se nos revela quién es el responsable de una forma nada sutil y que solo un despistado no asociaría.

Finally we can talk about the soundtrack. It is very good, it perfectly accompanies the film, it prints mystery and uncertainty (clear and present atmospheres in this film) and the pieces are clearly designed for each scene. It is mainly interpreted in classical musical instruments, in addition to bass backgrounds. A masterful piece, as usual, I will leave them below:

Finalmente podemos hablar de la banda sonora. Es buenísima, perfectamente acompaña a la cinta, imprime misterio e incertidumbre (atmósferas claras y presentes en esta película) y las piezas están claramente diseñadas para cada escena. Principalmente está interpretada en instrumentos musicales clásicos, además de fondos de bajo. Una pieza magistral, como es costumbre, se las dejaré a continuación:

Today I'm going to talk about Sleepy Hollow (also called The Legend of the Headless Horseman in Spanish America) a film directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp.

The film is based on the horror novel The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by American writer Washington Irving.

Siguiendo con la segunda entrega del Concurso organizado por @wiseagent hoy les propongo hacer un viaje al pasado y volver con nuestra memoria al cine de la década del 90, y en particular, a las películas de suspenso, terror u horror, elijan el término que quieran, el objetivo es el mismo.

Son aquellas películas que han dejado una marca indeleble en nuestra memoria por imágenes visivas, por su música o por la actuación de sus protagonistas que han sabido darle a sus personajes todo el realismo que el argumento requería.

Hoy les voy a hablar de Sleepy Hollow (llamada también La Leyenda del Jinete sin Cabeza en Hispanoamérica) una película dirigida por Tim Burton y protagonizada por Johnny Deep.

La película se basa en la novela de terror La Leyenda de Sleepy Hollow del escritor estadounidense Washington Irving.

The setting of the film is towards the end of the 17th century when Ichabod Crane, a New York police detective, after a heated argument with his superiors, is sent, apparently in order to punish him, to a semi-lost village in upstate New York called Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of murders, for which the local police are unable to find a solution and in which the victims have been decapitated.

Ichabod departs from traditional police investigative methods by using modern investigative techniques that certainly do not endear him to his colleagues.

And when he begins his investigations among the inhabitants, he discovers a reverential fear among them, especially among the elders, who maintain that the murderer is a supernatural being who has nothing human about him and who rides at night - without a head - on a black steed.

Parallel to the investigation, other mysteries and murders related to the richest families of the city are unveiled.

In reality, the detective does not believe at all in the Headless Horseman until one night he surprisingly meets him. From that moment on, he begins to have nightmares that take him back to when he was a child and remembers how his father tortured his mother to death.

As he delves deeper into the mystery, trying to find the boundary between the natural and the supernatural, he finds the so-called "tree of the dead" which is, on the other hand, the tomb of the headless horseman. Digging in the grave he discovers that the human remains are missing the head itself and deduces that the apparition has to do with it. Therefore the solution is to return the head to the human remains.

In the middle, and giving the film a real nuance, a murky revenge plot develops that aims to grab the property rights of the surrounding land and that sees Lady Van Tassel as its main executor. She actually uses the Headless Horseman as an executioner of those who oppose her ambitions.

Finally Crane thwarts Lady Van Tassel's plans and restores the skull to the horseman and in the last sequence of the film (one of the best) he is seen heading to hell with Lady Van Tassel in his arms.

La ambientación de la película es hacia fines del siglo XVII cuando Ichabod Crane un detective de la policía de New York después de una acalorada discusión con sus superiores en enviado, aparentemente con el fin de castigarlo, a una aldea semiperdida en el norte del estado de Nueva Yotk llamada Sleepy Hollow para que investigue una serie de asesinatos, sobre los que la policía local no logra encontrar una solución y en los cuáles las víctimas shan sido decapitadas.

Y cuando inicia sus investigaciones entre los habitantes descubre un temor reverencial de los mismos, especialmente de los más ancianos, quienes sostienen que el asesino es un ser sobrenatural que no tiene nada de humano y que cabalga durante las noches -sin cabeza- en un corcel negro.

En forma paralela a la investigación se van desvelando otros misterios y asesinatos relacionados con las familias más ricas de la ciudad.

En realidad el detective no cree para nada en el Jinete sin Cabeza hasta que una noche se encuentra sopresivamente con él. A partir de este momento comienza a tener pesadillas que lo retrotraen a cuando era niño y recuerda como su padre torturaba a su madre hasta matarla.

A medida que va profundizando el misterio tratando de hallar el límite entre lo natural y lo sobrenatural encuentra el llamado "arbol de los muertos" que es, por otro lado, la tumba del jinete sin cabeza. Excavando en la fosa descubre que a los restos humanos les falta propio la cabeza y deduce que la aparición tenga que ver con ello. Por lo tanto la solución es devolver la cabeza a los restos humanos.

En el medio y dándole un matiz real a la película, se va desarrollando una turbia trama de venganza que tiene por objeto acapararse los derechos de propiedad de las tierras circundantes y que ve a Lady Van Tassel como su principal ejecutora. Esta en realidad usa al Jinete sin Cabeza como verdugo de aquellos que se oponen a sus ambiciones.

Finalmente Crane frusta los planes de Lady Van Tassel restituye el craneo al jinete y en la última secuencia de la película (una de las mejores) se ve a éste que se dirige al infierno con en brazos Lady Van Tassel.

Tim Bruton's film has not only the great performance of Johnny Deep but also has splendid moments at the beginning and at the end of the film, with sequences of great visual quality.

On the other hand, Sleepy Hollow is a film that has become part of that "cult cinema" that many moviegoers are so passionate about. A quality film that, unlike other times, was also awarded with the success of the public.

Ichabod's sequences on the tree of the dead, in the church and its surprising final denouement remain in the memory of all those who consider cinema as an expression (or extension) of art itself.

La película de Tim Bruton tiene no solo la estupenda actuación de Johnny Deep sino que posee además espléndidos momentos al inicio y al final de la misma, con secuencias de una gran calidad visiva.

Por otro lado Sleepy Hollow es una película que ha pasado a ser parte de ese "cine cult" que tanto apasiona a muchos cinéfilos. Film de calidad que, a diferencia de otras veces, también fue premiado con el suceso del público.

Las secuencias de Ichabod sobre el árbol de los muertos, en la iglesia y su sorprendente desenlace final quedan en el recuerdo de todos aquellos que consideran al cine como una expresión (o extensión) del arte misma.

Surely you've heard about The Headless Horseman, right? Well, in this adaptation you will know it, because it is a fictional story that has all the nuances of being an American folk tale, where romance, violence, blood and thirst for revenge enter. When we talk about adaptations of literature to film we expect a reliable transparency to the story or novel that is intended to adapt, however, in this case, it is not so, but that does not mean that for that reason it is despised but on the contrary.

Seguramente alguna vez habrás escuchado sobre El Jinete sin Cabeza, ¿no?, pues en esta adaptación lo conocerás, pues es una historia ficticia que tiene todos los matices de ser un cuento popular norteamericano, donde entra el romanticismo, la violencia, la sangre y la sed de venganza. Cuando hablamos de adaptaciones de la literatura al cine esperamos una transparencia fidedigna al relato o novela que se pretende adaptar, sin embargo, en este caso, no es así, pero eso no quiere decir que por eso sea menospreciada sino al contrario.

Sleepy Hollow is a fantasy, horror and crime mystery film, based on the short story by American writer Washington Irving; The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, Miranda Richardson, Michael Gambon, Casper Van Dien, Marc Pickering, among others. The story was brought to the screen in a different way to the original story, creating a new story by the director's hand.

The screenplay was written by Andrew Kevin Walker, based on the original story. The film's music was elaborated by Danny Elfman, the cinematography by Emmanuel Lubezki who was recognized for his work by awarding him an Oscar nomination. The excellent costumes were made by Colleen Atwood who was also nominated for her contribution. The film was produced by Mandalay Pictures, Scott Rudin Productions and American Zoetrope, and was released in 1999 with a budget of 80 million dollars. The film can be found on streaming services such as Netflix or Appletv, for those who are subscribed to these services.

Sleepy Hollow es una película de fantasía, terror y misterio policíaco, basada en el relato corto del escritor norteamericano Washington Irving; La leyenda de Sleepy Hollow, fue dirigida por Tim Burton y protagonizada por Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, Miranda Richardson, Michael Gambon, Casper Van Dien, Marc Pickering, entre otros. La historia fue llevada a la pantalla de diferente manera a la historia original, creando una historia nueva por la mano del director.

El guión fue realizado por Andrew Kevin Walker, basándose en la historia original. La música de la película fue elaborada por Danny Elfman, la fotografía por Emmanuel Lubezki quien fue reconocido por su trabajo otorgándole una nominación a los premios Oscar. El excelente vestuario fue realizado por Colleen Atwood quien también fue nominada por su aportación. If you were born in the 90s and love classic Tim Burton films then you will have seen this film at some point, back then when I first saw it I couldn't finish it, but now that I own Netflix I told myself it was time to reminisce.

The story is quite striking from the beginning. In the year 1799, in a creepy town in New York State, USA, atrocious murders occur in which the victims are brutally decapitated, the police place their eye on said place and send an agent named Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp), to solve the mystery. Crane has novel mechanisms for solving crimes such as the detection of fingerprints and the application of autopsy on corpses, methods that are scorned and mocked by his co-workers.

Si naciste en los años 90s y te gustan las películas clásicas de Tim Burton, entonces habrás visto este filme alguna vez, en aquel entonces, cuando la vi por primera vez, no pude terminarla, pero ahora que poseo Netflix me dije a mí mismo que era momento de rememorar las cosas.

La historia es bastante llamativa desde el principio. En el año 1799, en un pueblo espeluznante en el Estado de Nueva York, Estados Unidos, ocurren atroces asesinatos en que las víctimas son decapitadas brutalmente, la policía coloca su ojo en dicho lugar y envían a un agente llamado Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp), para resolver el misterio. Crane, posee novedosos mecanismos para la resolución de crímenes como la detección de huellas dactilares y la aplicación de la autopsia en cadáveres, métodos que son menospreciados y motivo de burla por parte de sus compañeros de trabajo.

Arriving in town, Crane stays at the house of the Van Tassels, one of the wealthiest families in town, where he meets the young Katrina Van Tassel (Christina Ricci), with whom he develops an attraction and feelings later on. Crane begins to investigate by interrogating the locals who claim that the murderer is a headless man who rides at night on a black steed. Eluding the strange supernatural statements of the villagers and accompanied by young Masbath (Marc Pickering), an orphan boy who seeks the culprit of the death of his father who was also decapitated, Crane, employs his investigation based on scientific facts, but getting no traces that indicate the whereabouts of the murderer coupled with the strange inexplicable circumstances in which he has witnessed, the agent begins to believe that there is a supernatural hand that is manipulating everything.

Sleepy Hollow is known for being a town of legends about ghosts and demons, where the locals are faithful believers of these things, but something beyond our hero's comprehension is growing and gaining more and more strength, what is going on in this small town in the state of New York? Will our hero be able to solve the mystery before more deaths occur? Will he get rid of his scientific eye and raise it even more to find the real killer? Will there be someone else involved in all these horrible events? The story will gradually unveil the events, and each time we get a glimpse of them, the film becomes more interesting.

Al llegar al pueblo, Crane se hospeda en la casa de los Van Tassel, una de las familias más adineradas del lugar, allí conoce a la joven Katrina Van Tassel (Christina Ricci), con la que desarrolla una atracción y sentimientos más adelante. Crane comienza a investigar interrogando a los lugareños los cuales aseveran que el asesino es un hombre sin cabeza que cabalga por las noches sobre un corcel negro. Eludiendo las extrañas declaraciones sobrenaturales de los pueblerinos y acompañado por el joven Masbath (Marc Pickering), un muchacho huérfano que busca al culpable de la muerte de su padre quien también fue decapitado, Crane, emplea su investigación basándose en hechos científicos, pero al no conseguir rastros que le indiquen el paradero del asesino aunado a las extrañas circunstancias inexplicables en la que ha sido testigo, el agente comienza a creer que hay una mano sobrenatural que está manipulándolo todo.

Sleepy Hollow es conocido por ser un pueblo de leyendas sobre fantasmas y demonios, donde los lugareños son fieles creyentes a estas cosas, pero algo más allá de la comprensión de nuestro héroe está creciendo y tomando fuerza cada vez más, ¿qué es lo que ocurre en este pequeño pueblo en el estado de Nueva York? ¿Nuestro héroe podrá resolver el misterio antes de que ocurran más muertes? ¿Se desprenderá de su ojo científico y lo elevará aún más para encontrar al verdadero asesino? ¿Habrá alguien más implicado en todos estos hechos horribles? La historia paulatinamente nos irá desvelando los sucesos, y cada vez que los vislumbramos, el largometraje se vuelve más interesante.

The story of the original short story by Washington Irving, on which this film is based is very different from the plot, some characters do not even exist and eliminate others, even the role of Ichabod Crane is different because in the story is a school teacher who comes to the town of Tarrytown, New York, located in a valley called Sleepy Hollow, which is said to be haunted by beings from beyond the grave, the most mentioned by the locals is 'The Headless Horseman', who every night goes out to hunt his lonely victims.

Another aspect to highlight in this differentiation, is that Crane does not see much participation in the resolution of the mystery, but ends up being a victim of the demonic horseman after leaving a party at the Van Tassel's house. The story is very good and I highly recommend reading it, it is very different from the movie, I can assure you, and that does not make it any less good or better than the film adaptation.

La historia del relato corto original de Washington Irving, en la que está basada esta película es muy diferente a la trama, algunos personajes ni siquiera existen y eliminan a otros, incluso el rol de Ichabod Crane es diferente ya que en el cuento es un profesor de escuela que llega al pueblo de Tarrytown, Nueva York, ubicado en un valle llamado Sleepy Hollow, del cual se dice que está acechado por seres de ultratumba, el más mencionado por los lugareños es ‘El Jinete sin Cabeza’, quien cada noche sale a cazar a sus víctimas solitarias.

Otro aspecto a resaltar en esta diferenciación, es que a Crane no le vemos mucha participación en la resolución del misterio, sino que termina siendo víctima del endemoniado jinete después de salir de una fiesta en la casa de los Van Tassel. El cuento es muy bueno y recomiendo mucho leerlo, es muy diferente a la película se los puedo asegurar y no por eso sea menos bueno o mejor a la adaptación cinematográfica.

The film is among my list of favorites, especially for Johnny Depp's fabulous performance as Ichabod Crane, an intelligent man with a sharp mind, there are moments when he makes you laugh despite the hostile environment. The costumes and cinematography have also made a spectacular combination, with gloomy details that take you into a gothic environment, full of romance, magic, mystery and madness.

I am a faithful follower of this director's classics, since the more recent films have become so boring, repetitive and forgettable that I would only watch his films to pass the time, or to lie down in front of the TV and there is nothing else to watch. There are no good films anymore from this director like The Big Fish, Corpse Bride and Sleepy Hollow, lately he is taking for granted his stay in Hollywood thanks to his originality.

Anyway, this classic for me is one of the best and I would watch it again hundreds of times, even though Tim Burton doesn't make movies as great as this one anymore, I like that he hasn't lost his style over the years, that gives him a lot of recognition points. I give it a rating of 8/10 for being a must-see classic for me as a moviegoer.

La película está entre mi lista de favoritas, especialmente por la fabulosas interpretación de Johnny Depp como Ichabod Crane, un hombre inteligente con una mente aguda, existen momentos en que te hace reír a pesar del ambiente hostil. El vestuario y la fotografía también han hecho una combinación espectacular, con lúgubres detalles que te adentran a un entorno gótico, atestado de romanticismo, magia, misterio y locura.

Soy fiel seguidor de los clásicos de este director, puesto que los filmes más recientes se han vuelto tan aburridos, repetitivos y olvidables que solo vería sus películas para pasar el rato, o que esté acostado frente a la tv y no haya otra cosa que ver. Ya no existen filmes buenos actualmente de este director como lo son El Gran Pez, Corpse Bride y Sleepy Hollow, últimamente está dando por sentada su estadía en Hollywood gracias a su originalidad.

De cualquiera manera, este clásico para mí es uno de los mejores y volvería a verlo cientos de veces, a pesar de que Tim Burton ya no hace películas tan geniales como esta, me gusta que no haya perdido su estilo con el pasar de los años, eso le otorga muchos puntos de reconocimiento. Le doy una calificación de 8/10 por ser un clásico imprescindible para mí como espectador de cine.
