This is a movie that mixes romance with the fantasy of time travel through a simple technique recommended by a scientist who claims to have practiced it. It is an adaptation of the science fiction book Bid Time Return written by Richard Matheson, who also wrote the screenplay.

The plot revolves around the playwright Richard Collier played by Christopher Reeve, known for playing the lead role in the first two Superman films, who is intrigued to meet a famous actress who lived at the beginning of the century whose name was Elise McKenna, played by Jane Seymour, double winner at the time of the Golden Globe awards in 1982 as best actress in a TV movie for East of Eden and in 1996 as best dramatic actress in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

The direction was in charge of Jeannot Szwarc who came from doing it with Jaws II and the music was in charge of John Barry, highlighting the fact that the main piece is Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini, by Sergei Rachmaninov, interpreted by Roger Williams.

The scenes are good and the film meets the quality standards for a work that presents on the one hand a controversial subject and on the other hand the crazy things that are capable of being done for the sake of love.

Christopher Plummer's performance as Mr. Robinson, Elise's possessive agent, is also noteworthy, as well as the period costumes, which were worthy of an Oscar nomination in that category and won the Saturn Award, as well as the award for best music and best fantasy film.

The film's budget was 5.1 million dollars and the box office gross was just over 9 million 700 thousand dollars, the critics were mixed, considering some mediocre and others very good, but with the passage of time has become a cult classic.

Personally I enjoyed it with my family and I found it interesting for the unusual theme and the good staging with the natural of the time, another thing that I found interesting were the sudden twists of the play that pleasantly surprised.
