›Space Force: Malkovich & Carrel shine on Netflix@serialfiller2218d
We don't have time to finish a new TV series that will immediately attract attention and generate enormous expectation.
It's the case of "Space Force" the new Netflix series on which were placed high hopes.
An exceptional cast where Steve Carrel and John Malkovich attracted the attention of millions of fans.
A creative park led by Carrel himself and that draws totally from what were the minds behind "the office", a planetary success never forgotten.
And then there's Netflix which has accustomed us to mammoth productions where in addition to great freedom of action in the creative field and character development, there are also enormous efforts in terms of production, scenography and investment in special effects.
For a series like Space Force this was fundamental.
It's in fact a TV series able to keep up immediately with the times, emulating and "ape" what President Trump wanted in the past years and that the departure of Elon Musk's shuttle opened only a few days ago.
The space race, the colonization of the galaxy seen from the point of view of the creators of The office.
We could sum up what Space Force proposes to tell you.
A lot of laughter but also a deep analysis of what are the hypocrisies of America today, and always.
Impossible investments in impossible dreams.
All while out there, in the real world, protests explode for repeatedly violated civil rights, where racism is rampant, where the lack of a proper health care system causes thousands of deaths.
Space Force has the strength to make us laugh, but also to show us this America, military, senseless, denialist, spendthrift, consumerist, boorish.
Steve Carrel is perfect in playing the role of a general with a closed mentality, denigrating science, very Trump-style, who cares about the appearance of things and not the substance, ignores the social and climatic impacts of military and expansionist actions.
Malkovich is equally perfect in playing a man of science, harassed by politics and military corps, humiliated, ignored.
The impression is that both Malkovich and Carrel have a lot of fun playing each other's roles.
And the result can be seen.
It's an excellent result, an amusing and intelligent entertainment.
Investimenti impossibili in sogni impossibili.
›Space Force review (Netflix original series) - Wasted potential...@unbiasedwriter2220d
May 29th was the date many had been waiting for. That was the day when the brand new Netflix original series Space Force was launched. It stars Steve Carell, and the series is created by him together with Greg Daniels, the mastermind behind The Office (also with Steve Carell), and also the man behind the recent Amazon series Upload.
Space Force is a comedy series, and it probably got the idea from some crazy statement from Donald Trump about creating some sort of a Space Force. The idea is cool, and Netflix managed to get several famous actors onboard, meaning that you can also enjoy the company of John Malkovich, Noah Emmerich, Lisa Kudrow, Owen Daniels, and several others.
What is Space Force all about?
The first season of Space Force consist of 10 episodes, each lasting between 30-35 minutes. Steve Carell plays the character of General Mark R. Naird, a man who expected to become the new leader of the Air Force, but instead, he ends up getting the responsibility for the brand new Space Force.
The potential is big, the budget seems to have been big enough, but after watching the first episodes, I feel like I have been wasting my time. I normally enjoy the company of Steve Carell, but in Space Force, he doesn't manage to amuse me at all. It just feels stupid. The jokes don't work, the characters doesn't make me interested, and the story itself isn't entertaining enough in itself.
Maybe it should have been very funny when he tries to make a monkey fix a spacecraft (in space), but it somehow just feels too stupid and as if they have pushed it too far.
There are still quite a lot of episodes I haven't seen in the first episode of Space Craft, but based on what I have seen so far, I don't think I will ever sit down to watch them. There is so much other stuff worth watching and streaming, and there is so much other stuff worth doing instead of watching TV, so I think I will say goodbye and auf wiedersehen to Steve Carell. The next time we will meet might be during the second season of The Morning Show (which is a fantastic Apple+ production with Steve Carell, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston). And guess what, in The Morning Show, he plays a serious role, and he does so utterly well.
My Space Force score...
3/10
Have you seen Space Force? I would love to hear your thoughts. Maybe you totally disagree with me, or maybe you feel completely the same? I would love to hear your thoughts!
›Space Force - a new space comedy with Steve Carell@unbiasedwriter2252d
Space Force is the name of a brand new space comedy starring Steve Carell. It will premiere on Netflix in the end of May, meaning that we still have en entire month of waiting ahead before we can actually stream the show. But, considering the role of Steve Carell, and the fact that Greg Daniels is behind it (the man behind The Office), this sounds promising!
There are no real trailers available for the show yet, the only thing we have been given is the following Star Wars-like teaser.
In other words, we have no real clue about what the show will be like, but it is expected for it to keep on in a laidback comedy style.
Steve Carell is a fantastic actor, and I must admit that even though I like his funny face, he was just awesome in his recent role in The Morning Show, the Apple+ show. I did not have big expectations for that show, but it was just stunning and I enjoyed every single second (from the first second). But, it will be good to watch Steve Carell in a funny show once again, so I will for sure be among the first to see Space Force on Netflix after its release on May 29th in 2020.
Before then, we will be served several other great shows on Netflix, for example, the second season of Dead To Me. I didn't really like that show, but I know it has millions of fans, so they will for sure be happy to stream it in May.
Do you like the sound of Space Force? I would love to hear your thoughts!
Can I watch Space Force only on Netflix?
Yes, this is a Netflix original and can only be streamed on Netflix. But, since it is an original, there is no need to change your Netflix region in order to watch it.
