    Old Classic Revives & Returns

    Netflix has decided to review 80's Classic Manga known as SPRIGGAN, which did receive some OVA treatment back in the 90's. However now we are getting more of a full experience of the original story. Now this review will include some spoilers so you have been warned.

    Long before the era of prehistoric man, an advanced alien species inhabited Earth. Negligent of the power they held, these beings ultimately caused their own demise. However, the aliens left behind a warning to future civilizations on indestructible tablets: to destroy any remains of the ruinous technology created by their kind. Source - MAL

    The story is being told on bit different order than in the original manga (Also the OVA had its own route in this matter). But you can always come back after to this review after you have seen it.

    We don't know yet when SEASON 2 is gonna pop out but given to previous release schedules done by NETFLIX, i think we are gonna see it Q4 of 2022.

    Spriggan ist ein Manga von Ryoji Minagawa, der eine Art modernen Indiana Jones mit Kampfanzug präsentieren will.

    Der Manga Spriggan ist auch unter dem Titel Striker bekannt. Er wurde von Planet Manga in 11 Bänden herausgebracht. Die Mangareihe lief von 1991 bis 1996. Bereits mit Striker hatte man einen Versuch mit zwei Bänden scheitern lassen.

    Striker

    Striker ist der Name von Yu Omniae. Er hat einzigartige Reflexe und trägt einen Körperpanzer, der ihn fast unverwundbar macht. Sein Körper regeneriert sich extrem schnell. Er arbeitet für eine Spezialeinheit der Arcam Foundation. Diese kümmert sich um archäologische Grabungen, welche die Spezialeinheit schützen soll.

    Der Zeichenstil

    An Striker erkennt man das Alter des Mangas, denn der Zeichenstil von Ryoji Minagawa ist noch nicht so ausgefeilt wie in seinen anderen Werken.

    Fazit

    Die Geschichte erinnert stark an Indiana Jones. Die Kampfszenen des Mangas überwiegen hier, sodass die archäologischen Abenteuergeschichten immer zu Kampfauseinandersetzungen führen. Insgesamt ist der Stil von Ryoji Minagawa auf viel Brutalität ausgelegt, was den Manga nicht unbedingt empfehlenswert für jüngere Leser macht.
