In A Galaxy Far, Far Away...91@killerwot45d

Star Wars (A New Hope) is the film that started it all, an instant blockbuster that showed that films could garner fanbases as large as the biggest bands ever to perform.

There have been many reiterations of this film, with additional special effects. Personally, I like some of the additions, but I believe there should have been an official version of the film left entirely unaltered.

Luckily, there is a fan-made (de-specialised edition) which is fantastic. If you have never seen that version, it is well worth watching.

As far as I'm concerned, this film is the pinnacle of creativity. It was produced at a time when misfits received funding and were allowed to freely create and bring their wildest dreams to life.

The spaceships, set design, aliens, weapons and armour helped to create vast worlds, and through the lens we got to see a sliver of an alien universe, to then be left to imagine what else was out there.

Technology was created specifically for this film, which then went onto revolutionize modern cinema. Many of the things we take for granted in modern cinema today can be attributed to the great individuals who worked on this movie, who were all brought together by George Lucas to help him bring his vision to life.

I have been a fan of Star Wars for as long as I can remember, and the entire franchise has inspired my love of writing, model making, and essentially all of my creative endeavours.

Rating: 91/100

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (also known as Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens) is a 2015 American epic space opera film produced, co-written and directed by J. J. Abrams. It is the first installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and the seventh main installment of the Star Wars franchise, following Return of the Jedi (1983). The film stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Max von Sydow, and was produced by Lucasfilm Ltd. and Abrams' production company Bad Robot Productions. The Force Awakens is the first Star Wars film to not involve franchise creator George Lucas. Set 30 years after Return of the Jedi, the film follows Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron's search for Luke Skywalker and their fight alongside the Resistance, led by veterans of the Rebel Alliance, against Kylo Ren and the First Order, a successor to the Galactic Empire. image
