Stargate SG-1

Hello tout le monde,

Lors de mes précédentes publications, je vous avais dit que nous regardions, à nouveau la série Stargate SG1, comme j'avais découvert le film, j'avais eu envie de revoir la série, dont je posséde les saisons 1 à 8 en DVD.

Par contre, je n'avais jamais vu les saisons 9 et 10 et je trouvais cela dommage de ne pas connaître la fin de la série, j'ai donc décidé de me les offrir.

D'habitude, je n'aime pas trop tout ce qui se passe dans l'espace, mais ici, une grande partie se déroule sur des planètes habitées. Les saisons 9 et 10 sont bien jouées, même si l'histoire tourne un peu en rond, mais ma préférence va néanmoins aux saisons 1 à 8, dans lesquelles on s'amusait quand même bien avec le colonel Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) et ses remarques bien à lui. Et puis, on a été déçus par la fin de la série, comme si ils voulaient laisser la porte ouverte à une 11e saison.

Ce sont les 3 nouvelles têtes pour ces 2 dernières saisons. NB : Vous avez probablement vu Ben Browder dans le film Memphis Bell.

Le personnage de Vala Mal Doran apporte un peu d'humour par son côté excentrique, mais O'Neill nous a manqué, même s'il apparaissait quelques fois en Guest Star dans l'un ou l'autre épisode des 2 dernières saisons, ce n'est pas tout à fait pareil.

On devrait prochainement regarder Stargate Atlantis (10 saisons), mais nous n'avons pas les DVD et les saisons 6 à 10 ne sont pas disponibles à l'achat. Les saisons 1 à 5 sont disponibles à l'achat mais assez chères. Nous espérons donc les avoir à prêter, le temps de les regarder.

Voilà pour aujourd'hui ! On a pris pas mal de retard dans les nouveautés sur Netflix et on va s'y atteler dès ce soir, je vous ferai des petits comptes-rendus régulièrement.

I realize that I may be "late" to the party, because this one is from the late '90's and early 2000's; talking about Stargate SG-1. I've seen the movie on which SG-1 is based upon -Stargate - and quite enjoyed the story, so when the series got broadcast on television back then, I was interested in following what happened to the characters. The drawback with television back then at my home though, was that when you missed an episode there was no possibility to go back and catch up, so when I missed too many episodes and couldn't follow the storyline, I stopped watching it.

And then, not so long ago, a reference of Stargate was made in another sci-fi tv-series and I told my designated tv-series partner "I know of the series, but couldn't watch it back then", so then he took it upon himself to let me watch it and now we're smack in the middle of it; literally; being at the fifth of the ten seasons 😅 and I'm not counting the spin-off series.

I've got to say that I'm really enjoying this series: it's got humor, sarcasm, adventure, action and even references of history and mythology. And even the discussing of theories of physics, mathematics, biology, etc. are fun to see coming to "life", with wormholes, AI-technology, traveling between planets and through time and even alternate dimensions.

I know, it's not unusual that a science fiction series will eventually touch upon those topics, but what's refreshing is the humor that goes with all the drama, because some sci-fi series are a bit too dark and glum, but SG-1 tells the story in a light manner and giving people hope that it'll all work out. We see people and troops dying and still keep rooting for the four main characters. What's also interesting to see are the (visual) effects back then and seeing the technical progress of those techniques through the years/seasons.

Well that's it for today, before I give away "spoilers" 😅. What about you? Have you seen SG-1 and if so, what were your thoughts?
