Hello everyone! I hope you're feeling great, friends of The Anime Realm, this time I want to share with you my opinions about a rather unique series, which I feel deserves much more recognition.. today I'll talk to you about: Stars Align. I have to tell you, this anime blew my mind, I was going with the idea of watching another sports anime, as I like, one of those with tennis matches and epic championships… but I found a world where tennis is like the excuse, the facade, because the background story is much deeper and touches your heartstrings: complicated family issues, feelings and personal problems that touch your soul, already from the first chapter, the animation caught me.. every scene is drawn with a certain detail, with vivid colors and super fluid movements, which give an almost creamy touch to everything... but what I liked the most was how the series uses tennis not as the main thing, but as a tool for the characters to grow.

The tennis club becomes a refuge, a safe place where the characters escape from the complicated problems they have at home.. this change of formula in sports anime feels unique, because it made me realize that sometimes the stories that hook you the most are not about the sport itself, but about the people who practice it and what they are escaping from, it touched my heart how Stars Align gets right into the complicated and sometimes painful family relationships of the characters... the series doesn't beat around the bush and shows you the dark side of families, from overprotective parents and abandonment, to more shady things like physical abuse, there is a brutal honesty in how they show all this, that really got to me a lot.. you can feel all that emotional charge in some scenes that make you feel the weight of growing up in a fucked up family environment, it's refreshing, and at the same time it breaks your heart a little, to see an anime that is not afraid to show that not all families are rosy. On the contrary, it invites you to put yourself in the shoes of these characters who are fighting their own battles, sometimes against the very people who are supposed to take care of them.

Espero que se encuentren genial, amigos de The Anime Realm, en esta ocasión les quiero compartir mis opiniones sobre una serie bastante única, que siento que merece mucho más reconocimiento.. hoy les hablaré de: Stars Align. Les tengo que decir, este anime me voló la cabeza, yo iba con la idea de ver otro anime de deportes, como me gustan, de esos con partidazos de tenis y campeonatos épicos.. pero me encontré con un mundo donde el tenis es como la excusa, la fachada, porque la historia de fondo es mucho más profunda y te toca la fibra sensible: temas de familia complicados, sentimientos a flor de piel y problemas personales que te llegan al alma, ya desde el primer capítulo, la animación me atrapó.. es que cada escena está dibujada con cierto detalle, con unos colores vivos y movimientos súper fluidos, que le dan un toque casi cremoso a todo.. pero lo que más me gustó fue cómo la serie usa el tenis no como lo principal, sino como una herramienta para que los personajes crezcan.
El club de tenis se transforma en un refugio, un lugar seguro donde los personajes se escapan de los problemas complicados que tienen en sus casas.. este cambio de fórmula en los animes de deportes se siente único, porque me hizo dar cuenta que a veces las historias que más te enganchan no son sobre el deporte en sí, sino sobre la gente que lo practica y de qué están escapando, me llegó al corazón cómo Stars Align se mete de lleno en las relaciones familiares complicadas y a veces dolorosas de los personajes.. la serie no se anda con rodeos y te muestra el lado oscuro de las familias, desde padres sobreprotectores y abandono, hasta cosas más turbias como el abuso físico, hay una honestidad brutal en cómo muestran todo esto, que la verdad, me llegó un montón.. puedes sentir toda esa carga emocional de algunas escenas que te hacen sentir el peso que tiene crecer en un ambiente familiar jodido, es refrescante, y a la vez te rompe un poco el corazón, ver un anime que no tiene miedo de mostrar que no todas las familias son color de rosa. Al contrario, te invita a ponerte en el lugar de estos personajes que están luchando sus propias batallas, a veces contra la misma gente que se supone que los tiene que cuidar.

And another thing I liked is how they address the issues of sexual and gender identity, in these times where the representation of such characters is important, it was a relief to see how they show the journey of a character to understand who he is, but with a sensitivity and realism that is appreciated a lot... because instead of falling into cheap clichés or superficial labels, the show brings this topic super naturally into the characters life, it left me thinking about how fucked up and confusing it can be to find out who you really are, especially when you have your family with their expectations and prejudices getting in the way... this honest representation not only deepened the story, but also made the character's dramas feel much more real, closer. And the music...phew, the music!

Imagine soft violin melodies, perfectly intertwined with the piano, creating an atmosphere that gives you melancholy but also hope... something like that... I was totally caught up with the soundtrack, which felt like it was a silent narrator that takes you through all the emotions of the story, whether in quiet moments or in the middle of the tension of a full practice, the music always lifted the scene. It's rare to find an anime where the music is as important to the story as the dialogue and images, and Stars Align pulled it off in a masterful way.

Y otra cosa que me gustó es cómo van abordando los temas de identidad sexual y de género, en estos tiempos donde la representación de este tipo de personajes es importante, fue un alivio ver cómo muestran el viaje de un personaje para entender quién es, pero con una sensibilidad y un realismo que se agradecen un montón.. porque en vez de caer en clichés baratos o etiquetas superficiales, la serie te mete este tema de forma súper natural en la vida de los personajes, a mí me dejó pensando en lo jodido y confuso que puede ser descubrir quién sos realmente, sobre todo cuando tienes a tu familia con sus expectativas y prejuicios metiéndose en el medio.. esta representación honesta no solo hizo más profunda la historia, sino que también hizo que los dramas del personaje se sintieran mucho más reales, más cercanos. Y la música.. ¡ufff, la música!

Imaginen melodías de violín suavecitas, entrelazadas perfecto con el piano, creando una atmósfera que te da como melancolía pero también esperanza.. algo asi.. yo quedé totalmente atrapado con la banda sonora, que se sentía como si fuera un narrador silencioso que te va llevando por todas las emociones de la historia, ya sea en momentos tranquilos o en medio de la tensión de una práctica a full, la música siempre elevaba la escena. Es que es raro encontrar un anime donde la música sea tan importante para la historia como los diálogos y las imágenes, y Stars Align lo logró de una manera magistral.

Speaking of the ending... I'm not going to lie, I was left with a bittersweet taste, I mean, the last episode leaves you with a thousand questions in your head... I was left wondering what will happen with Maki and the others, if the story continues. Will Maki free herself from that cycle of abuse? Will the tennis team find their place in the end? I kept imagining a second season where we see how their relationships evolve and that each one has a closure like the people... hopefully someday we will know what happens... it's that the ending leaves you in shock, so shocking, so much that it leaves you screaming for a second season... but nothing, years and years without news, it's like getting on a roller coaster and standing right at the top, waiting for the descent that never comes.

That unfinished ending has its vibe, yes, because it shows you the impact the series left on you, but on the other hand, it made me angry.. you're left super unmotivated if you were really hooked and want to know how it all ends, but, let's see, what I really liked is how the personal quirks of each character were so connected to their family problems.... whether it's the character living under pressure from family expectations, or the one carrying the wounds of abandonment, or the trauma of abuse... each backstory was so well done that it was impossible not to empathize with them... I found myself identifying with their dramas in a way I didn't expect, it reminded me of moments in my own life where I felt like I was fighting on two fronts: the world outside and the ongoing stress of my own family.

It's rare for an anime to dare to touch on such heavy themes while still having moments of genuine camaraderie and hope, but Stars Align does it, the scenes at the tennis club were some of the best in the series.. despite coming from complicated families, the characters create bonds that feel real and supportive... seeing them come together as a team, more like a makeshift family than a group of athletes, was super touching.. it made me think of those moments in life where the people you choose to have around help you heal and find strength, even when everything else comes crashing down on you, their shared dramas and small victories on and off the court gave the series a vibe of unity that you don't see in other anime.

Hablando del final.. no les voy a mentir, me quedé con un sabor agridulce, o sea, el último episodio te deja con mil preguntas en la cabeza.. yo me quedé pensando qué onda con Maki y los demás, si la historia siguiera. ¿Se liberará Maki de ese ciclo de abuso? ¿El equipo de tenis encontrará su lugar al final? Me quedé imaginando una segunda temporada donde veamos cómo evolucionan sus relaciones y que cada uno tenga un cierre como la gente.. ojalá algún día sepamos qué pasa.. es que el final te deja en shock, tan impactante, tan que te deja pidiendo a gritos una segunda temporada.. pero nada, años y años sin noticias, es como subirte a una montaña rusa y quedarte parado justo en la parte más alta, esperando la bajada que nunca llega.
Ese final inconcluso tiene su onda, sí, porque te demuestra el impacto que te dejó la serie, pero por otro lado, me dio rabia.. te quedas super desmotivado si te enganchaste de verdad y quieres saber cómo termina todo, pero, a ver, lo que sí me gustó muchísimo es cómo las peculiaridades personales de cada personaje estaban tan conectadas con sus problemas familiares.. ya sea el personaje que vive presionado por las expectativas de la familia, o el que carga con las heridas del abandono, o el trauma del abuso... cada historia de fondo estaba tan bien hecha que era imposible no sentir empatía por ellos.. yo me encontré identificándome con sus dramas de una manera que no esperaba, me hizo acordar a momentos de mi propia vida donde sentía que estaba peleando en dos frentes: el mundo de afuera y el continuo estrés de mi propia familia.
Es raro que un anime se anime a tocar temas tan pesados y que al mismo tiempo tenga momentos de camaradería y esperanza genuinos, pero Stars Align lo hace, las escenas en el club de tenis eran de lo mejor de la serie.. a pesar de venir de familias complicadas, los personajes crean lazos que se sienten reales y que te dan apoyo.. verlos unirse como equipo, más como una familia improvisada que como un grupo de deportistas, fue súper conmovedor.. me hizo pensar en esos momentos de la vida donde la gente que eliges tener cerca te ayuda a sanar y a encontrar fuerzas, incluso cuando todo lo demás se te viene abajo, sus dramas compartidos y las pequeñas victorias dentro y fuera de la cancha le dieron a la serie una onda de unidad que no se ve en otros animes.

My only complaint, if you can call it a complaint, is that sometimes I wanted to see a little more tennis, I mean, the drama of the characters is the best of the series, that's for sure, but sometimes I thought “it would be nice to see a little more tennis tactics” or “a more exciting match”, but, I mean, it's not that the series wanted to be a tennis manual, I understand, they used tennis as a way to talk about the problems of the characters... But well, anyway, I give it an easy 8.5/10.

It's not perfect, obviously: the open ending leaves you with your blood boiling and the tennis thing could have been more developed... but the story that touches your soul, the animation that is crazy cute and the music that gives you goosebumps, make up for it completely, this anime made me feel everything, think a lot and even question things about my own life, about my family... it shows you in a very honest way how what we live marks us, and that stays engraved in your head, if you are looking for an anime that is not the typical sports anime and that dares to show the real life, with its good and bad things, Stars Align is highly recommended... it's a series that encourages to be real, that doesn't escape to the difficult topics and that leaves you wanting for more... Mi única queja, si se le puede decir queja, es que a veces me quedé con ganas de ver un poquito más de tenis, o sea, el drama de los personajes es lo mejor de la serie, eso está clarísimo, pero a veces pensaba "estaría bueno ver un poco más de tácticas de tenis" o "un partido más emocionante", pero, a ver, tampoco es que la serie quería ser un manual de tenis, entiendo, usaron el tenis como una forma de hablar de los problemas de los personajes.. Pero bueno, de todas maneras, yo le doy un 8.5/10 fácil.
No es perfecta, obvio: el final abierto te deja con la sangre hirviendo y lo del tenis podría haber estado más desarrollado.. pero la historia que te llega al alma, la animación que es una locura de linda y la música que te pone la piel de gallina, lo compensan por completo, este anime me hizo sentir de todo, pensar un montón y hasta cuestionarme cosas de mi propia vida, de mi familia.. es que te muestra de forma re honesta cómo lo que vivimos nos marca, y eso se te queda grabado en la cabeza, si estás buscando un anime que no sea el típico anime de deportes y que se anime a mostrar la vida real, con sus cosas buenas y sus cosas malas, Stars Align es súper recomendado.. es una serie que se anima a ser real, que no le escapa a los temas difíciles y que te deja con muchas con ganas de más.. yo solo puedo agradecer por el viaje que me regaló y espero que le den una oportunidad si no lo han visto.. y bueno, les dejare el opening por aquí abajo, nos veremos en las próximas reseñas, cuidense!
