  1. (ENG/SPA) Cammy: The Lethal Female of "Street Fighter", HERO Review@promete0sz447d

    cammy.jpg

Female empowerment I think has always existed in anime with the addition that respects and maintains that lethal sensuality that in characters like Cammy enriches everything visually offers, she is who I focus this review which shows that you can represent all the deadly beauty of a woman to stay in the mind of a viewer forever .... how not to stay in my mind if I remember her long beautiful legs slaughtering politicians haha.

At least that's how I perceive it from varied stories that have female characters with powerful visual relevance, aesthetics and style in this case applied to martial arts, street fighting surrounding the socio-political conflict of Street Fighter.

Cammy is a character within the great Universe of characters in Street Fighter that develops in the world of video games as well as in Live Action where I am sure many will remember her and in the world of anime participating in the film Street Fighter II of the already distant year of 1994, in itself she has varied participations in different products being this review focused more on her participation in that film that I already mentioned which totally marked my taste for this character and my perception of her as a HERO within this chaotic history.

I am a fan of Street Fighter since I was a kid but unfortunately in the games I had Cammy was not there, I found out about her existence was for that movie I rented at that time and that's where I keep a surprise, an unforgettable feeling because it was to meet a character that has a charm that I think has not been fully exploited in the franchise, is a secondary with all the aptitude to be a protagonist, so I am delighted with her haha.

A special note within the review is that I got to have toys of Saint Seiya but not Street Fighter, so I share a video of a verified Youtube channel that shows us a doll or toy of Cammy, as soon as I saw the video I was amazed because it is something that I would have liked to have had or have next to Chun Li haha, are pleasant anecdotes because the world of toys offers much professionalism and collectors value much detail in these figures to mesh with what is presented in games, series, movies and anime.

I encourage you to see this Cammy toy that is versatile for the movements as well as the character is in the movie.

The Anime mixed very well that birth in video game of the character along with the real approach offered by the anime in its characteristic type of animation, to see the image in which you can see the beautiful face of Cammy with a seriousness as cold as the Arctic, my feeling is as if I was watching an X-Men comic book and that is to highlight because if there is something I don't like about the American drawing is that it has a tendency to be too cartoonish with drawings that are honestly grotesque except in the comic part that just tries to be very real in that marvel style as in the X-Men that I already mentioned.

In this case Cammy looks very cool keeping her sensual, flirtatious touch with the daring military costume she has on, in fact her image combines that military style I already mentioned with the visual that the Gymnasts have and how not to have it if her battle style requires a lot of legs and I'm happy to see her legs dancing all over the place kicking human bodies as if they were punching bags.

These are the things I want to see, real female empowerment according to the story and female sensuality, it seems that in recent times they want to hide that and I'm not a fan of that thought, the sexy female aesthetic can be applied to the various narrative topics such as Martial Arts and Cammy proves that it works.

Just in the gif you can see one of her scenes in which she demonstrates why Cammy is so beloved within the Street Fighter fandom, even today as such I have not been able to play using her in any of the video games of the franchise but in my heart she is already one of my favorite characters just because of what you see in that gif.

Her participation in the film is not so relevant but I emphasize that the director placed her in the best in Battle because of the visual of her acrobatics and seriousness without mercy to execute it in a neat and impressive way, scenes that I never get tired of watching and that makes me fall in love with this character every day.

If you got to play with this character or see her epic scene, I would like to know in comments what you think about her battle style, one of the funny things I want to highlight about Cammy is that she makes a great effort to keep her cap in the place where it is after such body movements, these are details that the anime offers us and that real life would not achieve haha.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

    Summary

The leader of Shadaloo, M. Bison, is on the hunt for the wandering martial artist Ryu to make him join forces with Shadaloo. At the same time you see Shadaloo hunting down his partner Ken Masters, as well as a team-up of US Airforce Officer Guile and Interpol Agent Chun Li tracking down Bison. It's a pretty basic plot, but considering what this movie is that's fine.

    Great Fight Scenes

You get to see a lot of different fights from all sorts of characters from various games. Some a pretty irrelevant to the story as a whole, but welcome all the same. Plenty of entirely irrelevant fights, such as the one with DJ, but even when they add nothing to the story it's still a lot of fun to see. It would have been really easy for the movie to get lazy with their fights, but every character feels unique and true to their representation in the original games and it does a lot to create a very enjoyable film.

A persona favorite is Chun Li and Vega. Now, if you've seen this movie you would probably think the reason I say this is you get to see Chun Li fight in distinctly revealing attire, and... you are mostly wrong about that. Don't get me wrong, I do give the fan service here a solid two-thumbs up, but the fight makes a lot of use of its location in a small apartment. You get the two most agile fighters in the show bouncing around and making use of the furniture even, it's just a fantastic fight scene.

The Plot is Needlessly stretched, and here's why that's fine.

There would be no issue putting the entire story being told into a single episode of an anime if you just trimmed all the fat. Here is a list of fighters that appear and have a fight while doing nothing to add to the plot: Blanka, Zangief, DJ, Dhalsim, E. Honda, Balrog, and arguably even Sagat. At the same time, I don't think the movie would work without stuff like this, and that is when you start to realize what this movie is, and who it is for.

This movie is basically a bit of fan service for fans of the series. You get to see a lot of fighters you loved from the games fully animated and see how they look outside of the confines of what the SNES or arcades were capable of. There isn't a need for a deep or even interesting story here,

English Voice Acting is All Over the Place

Sometimes you have great lines and delivery, I think Bison is spot on. And then you have some awkwardly timed lines. It's a relic of the early days of 90's anime dubbing, in a lot of ways it's clearly not good but it still has this bizarre charm to it. In the case of Street Fighter that charm comes from the timing of responses feeling off. It's hard to put into words, but conversations feel like a sort of uncanny valley where it doesn't quite feel natural, in particular an instance where Ryu says 'Nope' in a weirdly sudden way and just kind of ending the conversation. I kind of love it. Overall Thoughts

This is a treat for any old-school fans of Street Fighter. No, it's not going to blow your mind, but it's going to get a good response out of you. It's fun to see a lot of those game moves fully animated like this, there is a lot of variety in the action, and the cast is enjoyable enough. It could be enjoyable to anyone else just looking for a series of fun 90's anime fights as well, so even people outside of the core audience can find something to enjoy here. Definitely give it a watch.
