Hello, friends of Hive! Today I want to talk to you about a rather curious anime. I met him mainly because of a panel of his manga that is very popular on the Internet, although not precisely because it is good, but because of how absurd and comical it is. In fact, I think that's exactly the author's intention: to create ridiculous and nonsensical situations to entertain the viewer. The plot itself is already quite bizarre, so you know exactly what you're getting at.
If you don't know which panel I'm referring to, it's one where a character appears talking to two text balloons as long as the Bible, to the point where you have to zoom in to be able to read anything. As I understand it, they even used this resource in the second season finale. I watched the entire first season and left the second one with only three episodes to go. The truth is that in the end it didn't convince me, despite having followed it weekly, but I don't rule out finishing it at some point... maybe even after writing this post.
With what I've said so far, you must already be imagining that this is a comedy anime that, surprisingly, sometimes breaks the fourth wall. Also, it has elements of romance, although it is not a conventional romance, but a rather peculiar one. So, without further ado, let's talk about Kimi no Koto ga Dai Dai Dai Dai Dai Dai Daisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo (damn, what a long name!).
According to Wikipedia, the title is abbreviated as 100 Kano. The story follows Rentaro Aijo, a boy who, after being rejected countless times at school, ends up resigned to never finding a partner. As a last resort, he decides to go to a temple to ask for help, where a “God of love” (or something like that) explains to him that each person has a soul mate and that, when their eyes meet, they will feel an instant connection. However, there is one condition: he must be with that soul mate, or else the person will die.
The problem arises when Rentaro discovers that he has not just one soul mate... but 100! So now he'll have to get 100 girlfriends and maintain a relationship with all of them to keep them from dying. The format of the anime is quite simple: each episode introduces a new girlfriend and shows how Rentaro manages to get them all to live together in harmony, forming a big family. Sure, some of them have friction at the beginning, but in the end they always end up resolving their differences. The last episodes of each season usually have a more elaborate plot, such as rescuing one of the girlfriends from trouble. But, if you analyze it too much, you'll realize that it's all just crazy nonsense.
As for the animation, there's nothing spectacular: it's simple, but it does the job. The music doesn't stand out much either; the openings are pretty normal. The only thing that keeps this anime (and its manga) alive is its absurd plot: the more ridiculous the situations are, the more the viewer is hooked. Just look at the kind of girlfriends Rentaro keeps getting. For example, at the end of the first season, he gets a girlfriend who happens to be the mother of another of his girlfriends. Yes, it's as degenerate as it sounds. Also, some of his partners are very childish looking, and if I didn't misunderstand, some are even grades younger than him.
There's a recurring joke in the community that the author does these things on purpose to get his manga cancelled, but actually the opposite is true: he attracts more people who want to see how far the craziness goes. I don't know whether to call this a calculated risk or genius. All I know is that, at some point, the magic stops and you stop watching it because it just loses your interest.

This anime is ideal for when you have nothing else to watch and want immediate entertainment. If you're looking for something deep, you definitely won't find it here. In fact, I find it funny when people overanalyze it, drawing conclusions that even the author himself didn't consider when writing it. Do I recommend it? It depends a lot on your sense of humor and how tolerant you are with certain topics. There's a lot of ecchi (in one episode of the second season, for example, they spend almost the entire time moaning, and I had to fast forward that part because it was already too much for me).

¡Hola, amigos de Hive! Hoy les quiero hablar de un anime bastante curioso. Lo conocí principalmente por un panel de su manga que es muy popular en Internet, aunque no precisamente por ser bueno, sino por lo absurdo y cómico que resulta. De hecho, creo que esa es justamente la intención del autor: crear situaciones ridículas y sin sentido para entretener al espectador. La trama ya de por sí es bastante extraña, así que sabes exactamente a lo que vas.
Si no saben a qué panel me refiero, es uno donde aparece un personaje hablando con dos globos de texto tan largos como la Biblia, al punto que hay que hacer zoom para poder leer algo. Según tengo entendido, incluso usaron este recurso en el final de la segunda temporada. Yo me vi la primera temporada completa y dejé la segunda a solo tres capítulos del final. La verdad es que al final no me convenció, a pesar de haberla seguido semanalmente, pero no descarto terminarla en algún momento… quizás incluso después de escribir este post.
Con lo que he dicho hasta ahora, ya deben estar imaginando que se trata de un anime de comedia que, sorprendentemente, a veces rompe la cuarta pared. Además, tiene elementos de romance, aunque no es un romance convencional, sino uno bastante peculiar. Así que, sin más preámbulos, hablemos de Kimi no Koto ga Dai Dai Dai Dai Daisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo (¡joder, qué nombre tan largo!).

Sin embargo, hay una condición: debe estar con esa alma gemela, o de lo contrario, la persona morirá.
El problema surge cuando Rentaro descubre que no tiene una sola alma gemela… ¡sino 100! Así que ahora tendrá que conseguir 100 novias y mantener una relación con todas para evitar que mueran. El formato del anime es bastante simple: cada episodio presenta a una nueva novia y muestra cómo Rentaro logra que todas convivan en armonía, formando una gran familia. Claro, algunas tienen roces al principio, pero al final siempre terminan resolviendo sus diferencias. Los últimos capítulos de cada temporada suelen tener una trama un poco más elaborada, como rescatar a una de las novias de algún problema. Pero, si lo analizas demasiado, te darás cuenta de que todo es una locura sin sentido.
En cuanto a la animación, no hay nada espectacular: es simple, pero cumple su función. La música tampoco destaca mucho; los openings son bastante normales. Lo único que mantiene vivo este anime (y su manga) es su trama absurda: cuanto más ridículas sean las situaciones, más engancha al espectador. Solo hay que ver el tipo de novias que Rentaro va consiguiendo. Por ejemplo, al final de la primera temporada, consigue una novia que resulta ser la madre de otra de sus novias. Sí, es tan degenerado como suena. Además, algunas de sus parejas tienen un aspecto muy infantil, y si no entendí mal, algunas son incluso de grados menores que él.
Hay un chiste recurrente en la comunidad que dice que el autor hace estas cosas a propósito para que cancelen su manga, pero en realidad ocurre lo contrario: atrae a más gente que quiere ver hasta dónde llega la locura. No sé si llamar a esto un riesgo calculado o una genialidad. Lo único que sé es que, en algún momento, la magia se acaba y dejas de verlo porque simplemente pierde tu interés.

Este anime es ideal para cuando no tienes nada más que ver y quieres entretenimiento inmediato. Si buscas algo profundo, definitivamente no lo encontrarás aquí. De hecho, me da gracia cuando la gente lo sobreanaliza, sacando conclusiones que ni el propio autor consideró al escribirlo. ¿Lo recomiendo? Depende mucho de tu sentido del humor y de qué tan tolerante seas con ciertos temas. Hay mucho ecchi (en un capítulo de la segunda temporada, por ejemplo, pasan casi todo el tiempo gimiendo, y tuve que adelantar esa parte porque ya era demasiado para mí).
