I'm not a fan of biker club stories, but this film has an excellent cast and behind the camera a director whose entire filmography I've seen and who is on my list of favorites.
Jeff Nichols made an impact on me with Shotgun Stories over fifteen years ago and dazzled me again with Take Shelter. With Mud he also gave us a great story, I recommend watching his first three films. Some may remember him more for the emotional Loving. By the way Michael Shannon is one of the actors who has collaborated the most with the director and in this biker story, he has a small participation.
Something that adds value to the story, is that it is inspired by real events, as the fim says at the beginning, it is based on the book written by Danny Lyon, after interviewing and photographing a biker club in the mid-sixties. One of the characters in the film is Lyon's version, during the time he was in the club and his subsequent interviews to find out what happened to the club.

Jeff Nichols me impactó con Shotgun Stories hace más de quince años y volvió a deslumbrarme con Take Shelter. Con Mud también nos regaló una gran historia, recomiendo ver sus tres primeras películas. Puede que algunos le recuerden más por la emotiva Loving. Por cierto Michael Shannon es uno de los actores que más ha colaborado con el director y en esta historia de moteros, tiene una pequeña participación.

Austin Butler is looking for nominations. I have yet to see the miniseries Master of the Air where I have read that he also gives an excellent performance. I like that since he did Elvis he has been quite active, with several productions. Here he plays Benny, the main protagonist of the story. A guy of few words, whose life revolves around those two-wheeled machines and being one of the hooligans.
He is accompanied by the great star Tom Hardy in the role of Johnny, the founder of the Vandals and leader of the whole club. A truck driver who sacrifices everything to have a reason to live, the club. The Vandals act according to their rules and their main mission is to protect their own, no matter if they have to break the law.
On the female side, and who I loved, is Jodie Comer playing Kathy, Benny's partner and who is very important as the narrative thread of the story, giving us an extraordinary performance. Although awards season is still a long way off and there are still many films to be released, I think she could easily be part of a short list of supporting actress nominees. For me she is better than her two male co-stars.
I liked The Bikeriders and Jeff Nichols once again makes a remarkable film to add to his filmography.

Austin Butler busca nominaciones. Tengo pendiente ver la miniserie Master of the Air donde he leído que también hace una excelente interpretación. Me gusta que desde que hizo Elvis ha estado bastante activo, con varias producciones. Aquí interpreta a Benny, el protagonista principal de la historia. Un tipo de pocas palabras, cuya vida gira en torno a esas máquinas de dos ruedas y a ser uno de los vándalos.
Le acompaña la gran estrella Tom Hardy en el papel de Johnny, el fundador de los Vándalos y líder de todo el club. Un camionero que lo sacrifica todo por tener una razón para vivir, el club. Los Vándalos actúan según sus reglas y su principal misión es proteger a los suyos, no importa si tienen que saltarse la ley.
Por el lado femenino, y quien me encantó, es Jodie Comer interpretando a Kathy, la pareja de Benny y quien es muy importante como hilo narrativo de la historia, regalándonos una extraordinaria actuación. Aunque aún falta mucho para la temporada de premios y quedan muchas películas por estrenar, creo que podría formar parte fácilmente de una pequeña lista de nominadas a actriz de reparto. Para mí es mejor que sus dos coprotagonistas masculinos.
Me gustó The Bikeriders y Jeff Nichols vuelve a hacer una película notable para añadir a su filmografía.
