A mixed bag-My review on Vanitas no Karte@omokhafue541d
I was at first contemplating if I should talk about this or not as I wasn't really intrigued with it as I thought I would be. I wasn't all about it during the three days roll I spent to watch it. Added it to my watchlist around early 2023, ended up watching about two to three episodes of it mid 2024,only to stop and continue it around August last year.
The whole concept about the anime was confusing in a way. It was like I was rewatching Teen wolf again but with mid acting and slow pacing. It was low-key infuriating the amount of times I spent stalling this cause I wanted to be done and done. Let us dive into the plot and what it entails.

Vanitas no karte (The case study of Vanitas) is a paranormal genre anime that revolves around a self made Doctor,Vanitas. My apologies, he's not actually a doctor doctor but that's what he calls himself atleast. Something of a sort. Vanitas is surrounded by vampires and aims to cure them from their curse. In the story of Vanitas no Karte, there are vampires and they are of two different kinds; the Blue Vampires also know as the Lamia and the red vampires known as the crimson vampires. The Blue Vampires are said to be calmer and more similar to human behaviors whilst the red vampires are violent, with red eyes. In this story, I'd say there are two main characters (I hope this makes sense). There's Noe Archiviste whose life got mixed and tangled up with that or Vanitas.
The case study of Vanitas is set in the 19th century Paris and follows the story of a young vampires in search of the book of Vanitas. This young vampire is called Noé. Noé Archiviste. The book of Vanitas is a powerful book set to release or heal cursed vampires. Cursed vampires here are called Malnomen; they are vampires transformed as a result of a bite from another vampire or a really traumatic event in their lives. The Malnomen are forced to behave predatorily against their will due to the said 'curse'.
This quest of Noé leads him to meet Vanitas, the one in possession of the book of Vanitas. He uses it to cure cursed vampires. He does this as a revenge of a sort to someone in his past life.

Honestly,I genuinely loved the main characters in this story. Vanitas and Noe. Vanitas had so much that went wrong in his past that shaped him to be what he is/ was. It was sad really, getting to witness his backstory. Being used as an experiment at one point,getting a glimpse of what life has to offer and being thrown in for the wolves to feast on again, and to top it all up,adding the loss of a loved one. SpoilerspoilerspoilerOh was that supposed to come at the beginning of this paragraph?;
Anyways, the case study of Vanitas is an anime that could have been more. The storyline was really good but I think the mangaka was tired? Or decided to not be creative enough,I don't know. But the concept and idea of it was entirely different from the usually vampire story of hunt and kill. I really liked the concept and was dissapointed a bit about what I saw. But anyways,I liked the characters and it was funny too. Vanitas' charisma is top tier! Noé too. Extremely beautiful characters!

The anime only had two seasons with about twenty something episodes each. The anime explores themes of existence, identity and the human condition, raising questions about what it is to be alive and to find one's place in the world.
I hope you enjoyed my review. And thanks for reading.
Hello everyone! I hope you are all feeling well today. I want to tell you about an interesting anime... It is The Case Study of Vanitas, or also known as Vanitas no Karte. This anime presents an interesting premise, it has a mix of genres, between vampires, a Steampunk style, and all set in the city of Paris, in the 19th century. The story follows Noah, a curious vampire, and Vanitas, an eccentric human who possesses a mysterious book. Together they embark on a mission to cure vampires of their curses and discover the truth behind a crazy conspiracy that threatens both humans and vampires.
These two characters, the main characters, have a lot of chemistry, their dynamic is very interesting to watch, even though they can't stand each other at first. Noe is somewhat naive, but he is powerful, with a very good heart.. on the other hand, Vanitas, is a somewhat arrogant character, but cunning, their interactions give us comic moments, but also some tense moments.. creating a complex relationship, but pleasant to watch. Visually this anime is amazing! Bones studio does a really outstanding job, capturing such a cool gothic atmosphere.. it transports us to a very nice Paris. The character designs are also very cool, they are elegant, unique and distinctive. And obviously, the action scenes, although not too many, are beautifully animated! The attention to detail in the backgrounds, and the lighting is very well achieved, it's pleasurable to watch this series, when they fight, but also in the night scenes, you are capturing such a mysterious atmosphere.. they made it amazing.
I found the narrative very intriguing and well structured.... It's great how the series gradually reveals its world, and its varied characters, maintaining an air of mystery that made me want to know more. The main story about cursed vampires is very interesting... but I feel that what shines the most are the intentions and relationships between the different characters. Each character has a lot of depth and complex motivations, and as you get to know their story, you become attached to them...
In addition, it has a very good soundtrack, it is very catchy and complements well with the action. This serves to really elevate the desire to continue watching, they also know when and how to get emotional... although, it's not perfect, sometimes the tonal shifts, between serious drama and comedy, can feel very abrupt. Although it felt like comic relief, on several occasions I felt like they broke the tension or the rhythm in some important moments... Another thing, maybe some elements of this world, related to vampire mythology are confusing at first, and I felt they didn't take the time to explain everything properly, but very quickly, I would have focused more on ease of interpretation and understanding.
The pace is good, there are some moments where the story seems to get a little slower, especially reaching the middle of the season. However, this is compensated with a very cool ending, which leaves many interesting premises for future continuations. It's also ideal how the series tackles different deep themes, the idea of identity through vampires' "real names" is fascinating. It also brilliantly exploits prejudice, redemption, and the weight of the past in a way that will make you think.
The supporting characters are good, there are many with some amazing designs and I liked that they were given their space to shine. Characters that feel really strong, and that without being protagonists, they add a lot more to the narrative. The antagonists have their weight and depth, it's great to see the debates and moral discussions, where it's evident and questioned who is really in the right.
I found this anime to be quite unique. Vanitas is not the typical super cool, competent protagonist you would expect. He's impulsive, often makes mistakes, and relies sometimes on Noah, and a few others to get him out of trouble, which he causes himself. This is something different, within the genre, and makes you get closer to him, it feels more real. I really liked this anime, it's very interesting, it combines in a good way elements of mystery, fantasy, action, comedy.. all in an attractive package. Its world is very detailed, and it has an intriguing plot, this makes it stand out among some other fantasy anime.
While it does have some problems, these do not diminish the great quality that this production exudes. I give it a rating of 8.5/10. Surely if you give it a chance, you won't regret it! Its unique mix of elements, its beautiful animation, and its intriguing narrative make it a very complete series! I share with you the intro in case you want to check it out, take care! See you in the next reviews!

Konnichiwa Hivers, it's me, your ridgette again! For today, I'm going to share a review of the story of a man who hates vampires, but for some unknown reason, he treats and saves them. With a special book that has the power to interfere with a vampire's true name, he was able to diagnose and save them. Weird right? Well, that's basically one of the mysteries of this anime. So join me as we delve further into the case study of the life of the adherent of the blue moon, Vanitas.
About the Anime
I still remember so vividly the colors of that sunrise we watched together. And those memories from the beginning all too easily bring back memories from the end, of the things that slipped through my fingers, and the people I couldn't protect. Of my regrets on that day I was unable to take your hand.—6, Salvatio
The Case Study of Vanitas(Vanitas no Carte) is a shounen anime that first premiered in the summer of 2021. Later on, season 2 was released, and it premiered in the winter of 2022. Its two seasons were animated by Bones. Its genres are action, fantasy, and mystery. The main theme revolves around vampires and history. Each season has 12 episodes, and since it already had two seasons, it basically has 24 episodes in total. It's important to note that this anime is for mature viewers, preferably those who are 17 and older, because of the violence and profanity that are present in some of its episodes. This anime was an adaptation of a manga series written and illustrated by Jun Mochizuki.
Born alone under a blue moon, the vampire of Sogetsu was hated by his own kin. Vampires were supposed to be born under the light of the blood moon, but by some ill omen, he's not. Feared by others, he was driven out of their village. Chilled and frightened, he wandered alone in the dark and snowy forest. This loneliness made him resent all vampires who were born under the blood moon.
"To all you foolish vampires who were cruel to me! When the time comes that this book is opened, may you be met with a curse worse than death!"—1, In Case of Rusty Hopes
Filled with bitterness, he vowed that one day he would take revenge on them. The loneliness and hatred that he felt became the very reason why he created a book—a special one that has the power to interfere with the vampires' true names. With that book, he hopes that one day, an adherent of the blue moon, just as he was, will use it to punish and destroy the vampires that once plunged him to the depths of oblivion. But unfortunately, the new adherent of the blue moon chose the other way.
In the present, coincidentally with the rise of vampire sightings in the human world, Noe was sent out by his maitre to look for and study the nature of the book of Vampire of Sogetsu. While traveling towards his destination, he met a human who had unusual blue eyes. Upon seeing the book of the vampire of Sogetsu in the hands of that man, Noe confirmed his suspicion. That man was indeed the infamous Vanitas, but unlike the humor, this adherent of the blue moon doesn't punish vampires like him. Instead, he chose to deliver to those damned vampires the salvation that they've been wanting.
Curious, Noe continued to stand by his side—only to discover that Vanitas is far more mysterious than he's expecting him to be. A lot of questions came to his mind, but finding answers to those won't be an easy feat, especially when it is Vanitas who guards them. Will Noe find answers to those questions? Or will time come that, like his kin who were born under the blood moon, he too would also hate Vanitas, just as they did with the Vampire of Sogetsu?
After almost 4 days of watching it, this anime somehow made me feel satisfied. Yeah—not all mysteries were resolved, but at least some of them were. I don't want to spoil much for the ending, but for me it's satisfying in the sense that you don't want to watch another season of it for a while. The way the characters improved throughout the 2 seasons was, I guess, one of the reasons why it ended in a satisfying note for me. The story wasn't really wholesome because, as I've mentioned, it is a mature anime, and some of its parts have dark stories.
Despite its dark vampire theme, this anime still has comedic gags in it. It was pretty hilarious, and it did not look forced for me because it kinda relates well to the characters' soft sides. As for the mysteries, I like how each character has a mystery in them because it somehow adds depth to their characterization. I like how Vanita's emotions were portrayed as complex and mysterious, which was a juxtaposition to Noe's open-book-like emotions. These two really complemented each other: Vanitas, who is rash and often selfish in the sense that he doesn't share his pains with others, and Noe, who is calm and often selfless. Although their characters were pretty much opposite, they both were protective of the things and people that really mattered to them.
On the other hand, I can say that its visuals are really good. Honestly, it's one of the reasons why I watched this anime, because I really like the art style. I think it's pretty neat, and I like how the characters were drawn. Although I find it unusual that some of the male characters were drawn with a hint of feminine features and female characters with some manly features (the eyes, especially), nevertheless, they're interesting for me. Further, I also wanted to praise the way they portrayed the characters' emotions, for unlike some of the animes I've watched before, their emotions weren't bland; instead, they were well delivered in a way that we could sympathize with them. Also, the sensuality is oozing, especially in the scenes where bleep-bleep-bleep-censored—ok, I don't want to spoil further, but the sensuality in being a vampire was somehow utilized well (hehe).
The music also did a good job of intensifying the emotions. Since it's an action-genre anime, it is of 'course expected that its action scenes are decent, and I was indeed not disappointed with it. The movements were pretty fluid, and the effects during battle were well-placed, so obviously it did justice to its genre. Overall, I rate this anime 9/10 because it was really entertaining and satisfying to watch. My emotions while watching this were like a roller coaster ride, for it has a lot of ups and downs. For me, it's undoubtedly one of the best anime I've watched. So if you're looking for a vampire action-fantasy anime with a lot of mysteries and eye-pleasing characters, then you definitely need to watch The Case Study of Vanitas.
Before I end this review, I gladly share with you its trailer, so—
›Review / Vanitas No carte ( the case study of vanitas )@pompoko1205d
"Vanitas no Carte" is a manga series written and illustrated by Jun Mochizuki. The series is set in an alternative version of 19th-century Paris, where vampires and humans coexist. The story follows a vampire named Noé and a human named Vanitas, who are both connected to a powerful magical book called "The Book of Vanitas."
The series starts with Noé, who is on a mission to find a legendary vampire known as "The Book of Vanitas." On his journey, he meets Vanitas, who claims to be the owner of the book. However, Vanitas is not like any other human. He possesses the power to control and heal vampires, which is considered a curse in their world. Vanitas and Noé team up to uncover the secrets behind "The Book of Vanitas" and to prevent a war between vampires and humans.
One of the strongest aspects of "Vanitas no Carte" is its world-building. The series creates a rich and complex world that is both intriguing and immersive. The setting of 19th-century Paris adds to the overall atmosphere of the story, and the mix of vampires and humans adds a unique twist to the fantasy genre. The story also explores the complex relationships between vampires and humans, and how they coexist in a society where they are fundamentally different.
The characters in "Vanitas no Carte" are also well-developed and engaging. Noé, the protagonist, is a sympathetic character who is trying to understand his place in the world. He is accompanied by Vanitas, who is a charismatic and enigmatic figure. Vanitas's past is shrouded in mystery, and his motivations are not always clear, which adds to the intrigue of the story. The relationship between Noé and Vanitas is also one of the highlights of the series, as they have a unique dynamic that is both entertaining and heartwarming.
The story of "Vanitas no Carte" is full of twists and turns, and the pacing of the story is well-done. The series balances action, drama, and comedy effectively, creating a well-rounded story that will keep readers engaged. The series also delves into themes such as discrimination and prejudice, which adds depth to the story.
The artwork in "Vanitas no Carte" is stunning. Jun Mochizuki's art style is detailed and intricate, with a focus on creating a Gothic atmosphere. The character designs are distinctive, and the backgrounds are beautifully rendered. The fight scenes are also well-drawn, with a sense of motion and energy that makes them exciting to read.
One of the only criticisms of "Vanitas no Carte" is that the story can be confusing at times. The series introduces many characters and concepts, which can be overwhelming for some readers. However, the story's complexity is also one of its strengths, as it allows for a deeper exploration of the world and its characters.
In conclusion, everyone should atleast give it a try.
Once upon a time in the kingdom of vampires, a vampire was born who was named Vanitas. But the vampires in his kingdom, who were born on the night of the Crimson Moon, began to think he was cursed. Because he was born on the night of the Blue Moon, the night that vampires consider the cursed night. So they forced Vanitas to leave his kingdom. Vanitas is angry with the people of his kingdom and swears that he will make them suffer the consequences. He made a magic book with which he would punish the vampires harder than death by defaming them. And in the future the person who gets his name and book will also act according to this oath. This is how his revenge will continue from generation to generation .
Of course, I did not tell you this story without any reason. The story of the anime I am going to talk about today starts from here.
Hello people, how are you all? Get ready to read anime suggestions because today I have come up with a great anime series. I sat down to write even though I have no desire to review it right now. The reason is later I will say. For now let’s start the review with a little bit of light detail of the series .
Anime Series: Case Study Of Vanitas
Theme: Historical, Vampire
Genre: A series of fantasy type, there is a lot of action, romance and a lot of comedy. So much so that even some serious moments will make you laugh. Action, rom-com in simple language.
At some point in the 19th century, Noé Archiviste was route to Paris in a ship as large as a ship. According to his teacher, who raised him, he was going in search of The Book of Vanitas. Yes, looking for the book I mentioned in the first story. During the flight, he was met by a girl who was not looking well. After a while the girl's condition worsens, and the symptoms show that she is actually a vampire. Just then an unexpected arrival of an outsider occurs, targeting the sick girl. But Noé defeats her, takes the girl and runs away, also explaining to the audience that the girl is not alone, Noé herself is a vampire.
But there is no benefit in running away, but after a while the girl herself puts her poison on Noé's neck. He jerked himself away but by then the poison of the girl's teeth had begun to overwhelm him. The second time the girl attacks him, the outsider from whom Noé fled with the girl appears. Noé asks him if he is any Bourreau, or a church chasseur who came to kill the girl. He replies with a laugh that he is a doctor who has come to treat this sick girl. Then he finds out what Noé Paris is looking for! The Book of Vanitas! Yes, that's Vanitas.
Vanitas recovers the girl's name at the moment and heals her. Then ... being outsiders, they ran to the guard, Vanitas and Noé, to a church-like place. They become acquainted and begin their journey together. Note that these stories are Noé's past which he has been seen to record in the series. We will also hear Noé say that at the end of this journey Noé will kill Vanitas at his hands!
It was pretty much the first episode of the series. This last line is enough to make sure to think about watching the next episode. In addition to this, some more questions may arise in the minds of the viewers.
What is the relationship of Book of Vanitas with the teacher of * Noé
Vanitas is supposed to be the enemy of vampires. Why would he cure vampires ?
Why Vanitas made Noé his traveling companion
And Noé Why kill Vanitas, or will Vanitas really die in his end ?
There will be more questions which I do not have the answers to. Its because this series is still Ongoing. The series has a bit of a Sherlock Holmes feel to it, with most of the story progressing from the POV of the Side character Noé. And the most mysterious character in the series is our main character himself! I did not say anything different about the heroine. You will judge how many pairs of Vanitas-Jeanne pairs will be in the pair you have seen. The story of the series I like detailing very much. The backstory of each character is beautifully mentioned in the plot.
However, the first 12 episodes of Season 1 were closed until September last year when they were released. The reason is unknown to me. After that, the next episodes of Season 1, called Part 2, started to be released this January. There is also an episode 12.5 which is a summary of the previous 12 episodes. according tot the plan, the first season has end with 24 episodes till April 2.
Curse-bearer: In the series, the names of vampires are said to be the equivalent of their lives. The vampires whose names are defiled become infected with various diseases, and are called curse-bearers. (Vanitas originally created the Book of Vanitas for this purpose)
Bourreau: A group or breed of vampires who kill curse-bearers. They think undefined Curse-bearers will never be good.
Church's Chasseur: A group of people under the care of the church who carry out various evil deeds besides killing the Curse-bearer. Its captain is called Paladin.
The background music of this anime series animated by Studio Bones was great. My passion for this series is on a different level as all my favorite people are in it. I laughed a lot watching the series. My gallery filled with screenshots. And Jeanne's moments, episodes 12 and 14 will stay in my mind!
However, the reviews have grown a lot. I didn't expect it to be so big. Hope you enjoy the series. Please let me know if you have any comments or reviews about the series. If you like the review, encourage me from the side so that I can come up with more reviews for you.
Give this anime a shot. this is really worth your time. You are not gonna regret it. You will definitely enjoy it. highly recommended.
