   Hello movie lovers, I hope you are having a good day. Nothing like starting the weekend with a good movie, right? I hope you are lucky enough to start with a good movie. I wasn't so lucky last weekend, but then again, you don't always get reviews of good movies. I have to share the bad ones too so that others don't make the same mistake as me lol.

   The Champion is a movie released on Netflix in 2024. The movie genre is Football, Drama and Sports. When I think about it, yes, it can be summarized like this. There are not many actors in the movie that I have heard of before, but this may be my ignorance :P

   

   From this moment on you will see tiny spoilers. Actually there might be more because I don't think you will like this movie haha. The movie tells the life of a young soccer player who becomes a snob after getting rich. He doesn't sleep well, doesn't show up on time for training, doesn't treat his teammates and opposing players with respect. In one match he gets into a fight with an opposing player and gets a red card. More than that, he is suspended for several matches. The club says they can forgive him because he is a very talented footballer, but they want him to do anger training first.

   

   They chose our coach Alex for anger training because he is the older brother of a manager in the team. Actually Alex is not an expert in this field but he accepts the task because he needs money. At first they don't get along because Alex doesn't like to talk in public, but when you train a soccer player, the cameras are always on you. Moreover, the young soccer player Diego treats Alex disrespectfully. But after a while Alex manages to gain Diego's respect and become friends with him. He realizes that the footballer has dyslexia. This makes it difficult for him to learn things.

   

   On the other hand, he realizes that Diego knows soccer at a genius level. Isn't that the way it should be? Alex should find that light in the soccer player haha. Then everything goes well for Diego. He is pardoned by the management and he has to play in the last match. But there is a problem, Diego is injured and he shouldn't play in the last match. Another reason for this is that the agent, the player's father and Alex's brother, wants to transfer Diego to another team. If he plays, his injury will get worse and the transfer will be canceled. Diego wants to play in that game and lead his team to the championship. They go behind in the match and Diego comes on in the second half despite his father's protests. He scores the equalizer and wins a penalty. If he scores the penalty, his team will be champions, but what happens if he doesn't? If you are curious about the rest of the movie, you can watch it. I cannot give clear advice on this subject.

   

   As for the negative points about this movie, nothing happens in the movie to surprise you. A psychologist with no expertise, a punk soccer player, they don't get along well at first, then they become friends. That's it. If we talk about the acting in the movie, Alex does a good job but other than that there is nothing that stands out. There's not much about soccer either. If I were to rate this movie, I would give it a 4 out of 10. In my opinion, if you want to watch something about football, it would be more beneficial to watch a documentary about a team. So I don't recommend you to watch this movie.

   Merhaba film severler, umarım iyi bir gün geçiriyorsunuzdur. Hafta sonuna güzel bir filmle başlamak gibisi yok değil mi? Umarım güzel bir filmle başlayacak kadar şanslısınızdır. Ben geçen hafta sonu o kadar şanslı değildim ama sonuçta her zaman iyi filmlerin incelemeleri paylaşılmaz. Kötü olanları da paylaşmalıyım ki başkaları benimle aynı hatayı yapmasın lol.

   The Champion filmi 2024 yılında Netflix'te gösterime girmiş bir film. Filmin türü Futbol, Drama ve Spor. Düşündüğüm zaman evet bu şekilde özetlenebilir. Filmde daha önce adını duyduğum çok fazla oyuncu yok ama bu benim cahilliğim de olabilir :P

   

   Bu andan itibaren minik spoilerlar göreceksiniz. Aslında daha fazlası da olabilir çünkü bu filmi seveceğinizi düşünmüyorum haha. Film zengin olduktan sonra züppeleşen genç bir futbolcunun hayatını anlatıyor. Uyku düzenine dikkat etmiyor, antrenmanlara zamanında gitmiyor, takım arkadaşlarına ve rakip takım oyuncularına karşı saygılı davranmıyor. Bir maçta bir rakip oyuncuyla kavga ediyor ve kırmızı kart görüyor. Daha da fazlası birkaç maç ceza alıyor. Kulüp, çok yetenekli bir futbolcu olduğu için onu affedebileceğini ama öncesinde öfke eğitimi almasını istiyor.

   

   Öfke eğitimi için de hocamız Alex'i seçiyorlar çünkü takım içindeki bir menajerin abisi. Aslında Alex bu konuda uzman değil ama paraya ihtiyacı olduğu için görevi kabul ediyor. Başlarda anlaşamıyorlar çünkü Alex toplum içinde konuşmaktan hoşlanmıyor ama bir futbolcuya eğitim verdiğinizde kameralar hep üzerinizde oluyor. Üstelik genç futbolcu Diego Alex'e saygısızca davranıyor. Ama bir süre sonra Alex Diego'nun saygısını kazanmayı ve onunla arkadaş olmayı başarıyor. Futbolcuda disleksi hastalığı olduğunu fark ediyor. Bu da onun bir şeyleri öğrenmesini zorlaştırıyor.

   

   Öte yandan Diego'nun dahi seviyesinde futbol bildiğini fark ediyor. Böyle olması gerekir değil mi? Futbolcunun içindeki o ışığı Alex bulmalı haha. Daha sonra Diego için her şey yoluna giriyor. Yönetim tarafından affediliyor ve son maçta sahaya çıkması gerekiyor. Ancak bir problem var Diego sakat ve son maçta oynamamalı. Bunun bir diğer sebebi de oyuncunun babası ve Alex'in abisi olan menajerin Diego'yu başka bir takıma transfer etmek istemesi. Eğer oynarsa sakatlığı daha kötüye gidecek ve transfer iptal olacak. Diego ise o maçta oynamak ve takımını şampiyonluğa taşımak istiyor. Maçta geriye düşüyorlar ve Diego 2. yarı babasının bütün itirazlarına rağmen oyuna giriyor. Takımını eşitliğe taşıyan golleri atıyor ve bir penaltı kazanıyor. Penaltıyı atarsa takımı şampiyon olacak ama atamazsa ne olacak? Filmin devamını merak ediyorsanız izleyebilirsiniz. Bu konuda net tavsiye veremeyeceğim.

   

   Bu filme dair negatif noktalara gelirsek filmde asla sizi şaşırtacak bir şey olmuyor. Bütün senaryoyu ben de yazsam bu şekilde yazardım. Uzmanlığı olmayan bir psikolog, serseri bir futbolcu, başta iyi anlaşamıyorlar, sonradan arkadaş oluyorlar. Hepsi bu. Filmdeki oyunculuklara değinecek olursak Alex iyi iş çıkarıyor ama onun dışında öne çıkan bir şey yok. Futbola dair de çok şey yok. Bu filme puan verecek olsam 10 üzerinden 4 verirdim. Bana göre eğer canınız futbola dair bir şeyler izlemek istiyorsa açıp bir takımın belgeselini izlemeniz daha faydalı olacaktır. Bu yüzden bu filmi izlemenizi tavsiye etmiyorum.

   Irreverent, inflexible, successful, empty and dyslexic. A football shapes his life, but in reality, he is a puppet controlled by his father.

   Irreverente, inflexible, exitoso, vacío y disléxico. Un balón de fútbol perfila su vida, pero en realidad es una marioneta controlada por su padre.

   

   Looking to see a production with a different concept than usual, and in anticipation of several new releases this month on both Netflix and Prime Video, I decided to go for this 106-minute film directed by Carlos Therón. The Champion is a Spanish film that has a solid, strong hook and keeps you entertained until the end.

   I can say that this is one of the few productions with a sports plot that I liked. The approach, the concept of the story, and the characters are very well done. The beginning of the plot starts with violence and closes with hope. Two different emotions, but striking enough.

   The manipulation and corruption behind the forging of sports contracts is something that the plot elucidates very well. Many footballers, due to a lack of knowledge, whether of law or academics, enter into contracts with a guardian or a proxy (these two concepts in law are different but similar).

   If a person is not able to make his own decisions, if he is not able to read a contract and decide what he should do with his life, he is subject to a chain of domination. In other words, he is enslaved and lives not for himself but for someone else. This is the harshest message of the plot, and it is practically expressed. Express in law means written and unobjectionable. How can you contradict something unobjectionable? Obviously, there is evidence of opposability, but this is not the case with the protagonist of the film, who always allows himself to be carried away by violence.

   En búsqueda de ver una producción con un concepto diferente a lo habitual, y a la espera de varios estrenos éste mes tanto en Netflix como en Prime Video, decidí apostar por ver éste film de 106 minutos dirigido por Carlos Therón. The Champion es un film español que tiene un gancho sólido, fuerte y te mantiene entretenido hasta el final.

   Puedo decir que esta es una de las pocas producciones con una trama deportiva que me ha gustado. El enfoque, el concepto de la historia y los personajes están muy bien trabajados. El inicio de la trama comienza con violencia y cierra con esperanza. Dos emociones diferentes, pero lo suficiente llamativas.

   La manipulación y la corrupción detrás del forjamiento de contratos deportivos es algo que dilucida muy bien la trama. Muchos futbolistas por desconocimiento, sea de leyes o temas académicos, celebran contratos con un tutor o un apoderado (estos dos conceptos en derecho son distintos, pero similares).

   Si una persona no es capaz de tomar sus propias decisiones, si una persona no es capaz de leer un contrato y decidir qué debe hacer con su vida, está sometida a una cadena de dominación. En otras palabras, es alguien esclavizado y que no vive por sí mismo; sino por otro. Éste es el mensaje más duro de la trama y es prácticamente expreso. Expreso en derecho, significa escrito e inobjetable. ¿Cómo puedes contradecir algo inobjetable? Evidentemente con pruebas de oponibilidad, pero éste no es el caso del protagonista del film que siempre se deja llevar por la violencia.

   

   What do I want to be in life? Some want to be doctors, professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, or footballers. Diego (Swit Eme) is the champion and goalscorer of Atlético de Madrid. A 20-year-old who has been recognized as the best European youth player. His dream is to lead his team to the top and become the league champion; however, his weaknesses are the biggest obstacle to achieving his dream.

   Diego is a clear representation of a person forged by an indolent father, who uses him and his achievements. The bullying, overprotection and manipulation of Diego's father is overwhelming. The violence in the film is shown in an oppressive way, breaking the happiness at a time when the protagonist needs freedom and externalizing the reins of control. The only thing the main character needs is personal freedom and respect. Something he does not have as he has dyslexia.

   ¿Qué quiero ser en la vida? Algunos desean ser doctores, profesionales, investigadores, otros empresarios y algunos futbolistas. Diego (Swit Eme) es el campeón y el goleador del Atlético de Madrid. Un joven de 20 años que ha logrado ser reconocido como el mejor jugador juvenil europeo. Su sueño es llevar a su equipo a lo más alto y convertirlo en el campeón de la liga; sin embargo, sus debilidades son el mayor obstáculo para alcanzar su sueño.

   Diego es la representación clara de una persona forjada por un padre indolente, que lo utiliza y se sirve de sus logros. La intimidación, la sobreprotección y la manipulación del padre de Diego son abrumadoras. La violencia en el film se muestra de una manera opresora, rompe la felicidad en un momento donde el protagonista necesita libertad y exterioriza las riendas del control. Lo único que necesita el personaje principal es la libertad personal y respeto. Algo que no posee al tener dislexia.

   In a search for Diego to reflect, improve his public image, and return to play again due to a suspension at Atlético de Madrid, his father hires Álex (Dani Rovira), who will teach Diego human values and understand him.

   Alex, despite being a relevant teacher in Spain, suffers from social phobia and is not a person who yearns for money, but he does require it urgently. Alex comes to educate Diego at a critical moment in his life. The relationship emerges as chaos between two people with different personalities.

   En búsqueda de que Diego pueda reflexionar, mejorar su imagen pública y volver a jugar debido a una suspensión en el Atlético de Madrid, su padre contrata a Álex (Dani Rovira), quien enseñará a Diego valores humanos y le comprenderá.

   Alex, a pesar de ser un profesor relevante en España, sufre de fobia social y no es una persona que añora el dinero, pero sí lo requiere urgentemente. Alex llegó a educar a Diego en un momento crítico de su vida. La relación surge como un caos entre dos personas con una personalidad distinta.

   

   Something I really liked about the film is Alex's approach as a teacher, he doesn't get upset and remains calm. He leaves the violence aside, remains an interlocutor and highlights what is good about Diego, but also highlights his human shortcomings and how he needs to reflect.

   The most exciting part of the film ends up being the question of what it means to be a genius. And the answer is close to each of us. Geniuses are everywhere and are capable of loving what they do, but Alex takes it for granted that a genius is one who can control his life without anyone else intervening in it. Masterful!

   The Champion is a thoughtful, inspiring film with a message that goes beyond sport. It leaves aside the manifestation of what football fans desire to show the desires of a passionate player with personal freedom issues. It also has a well-crafted cinematography and a remarkable visual quality. Even the closing of the film will have an impact on you.

   Algo que me gustó mucho del film es el abordaje de Alex como profesor, no se altera y mantiene la calma. Deja a un lado la violencia, se conserva como un interlocutor y destaca lo bueno de Diego, pero también resalta sus deficiencias humanas y cómo debe reflexionar.

   La parte más emocionante de la película termina siendo la pregunta del significado de ser un genio. Y la respuesta está cerca de cada uno de nosotros. Los genios están en todas partes y son capaces de amar lo que hacen, pero Alex deja por sentado que un genio es aquel que puede controlar su vida sin que otro intervenga en ella. ¡Magistral!

   The Champion es un film reflexivo, inspirador y con un mensaje que va más allá del deporte. Deja a un lado la manifestación de lo que desean los fans del fútbol para mostrar los deseos de un jugador apasionado y con problemas de libertad personal. Además, posee una fotografía bien trabajada y una calidad visual destacable. Incluso el cierre del film te impactará.
