En aquellas épocas gloriosas donde la inclusión forzada no era más que una pesadilla, Disney se atrevió a darle vida una de las sagas de libros de fantasía (infantil pero no tan infantil) más clásica de la historia: "Las crónicas de Narnia". Los actores, todos blancos y concordantes, lograron causar nostalgia en los que, tras algunos intentos de adaptación, no habían hallado una versión cinematográfica digna de la leyenda escrita de C.S Lewis. La película, estrenada por allá en 2005, tuvo una buena recepción, o al menos promedio, según lo que vi en Rottentomatoes... O al menos eso con respecto a la primera película.
Fueron tres, la anterior mejor que la siguiente, si es que se entiende mi sentido mal del humor, (😄). La primera peli de la saga la vi en DVD, ni siquiera conocía yo que era la adaptación de un libro, pero admito que me enganchó de inmediato. Tenía unos nueve años. Mi personaje favorito fue, desde el primer momento, el león parlante, con el que sufrí y lloré, porque sí, después de la tragedia de Mufasa (difícil de superar) me topé con la tragedia de Aslan. Por alguna razón, A Disney le iba muy bien creando películas donde mataban a los leones.
¿Qué tenía Disney en contra de los leones? Sí que nos hicieron sufrir esos hijos de #$%&.
Hace poco me volví a ver la saga (culpa de tiktok) y, la nostalgia regresó. Así que, decidí traer un poco de esa nostalgia a la comunidad, claro, para aquellos que, al igual que yo, disfrutaron de este clásico.

In those glorious times when forced inclusion was nothing more than a nightmare, Disney dared to bring to life one of the most classic fantasy book sagas (for children, but not so much for children) in history: "The Chronicles of Narnia." The actors, all white and of color, managed to evoke nostalgia in those who, after several adaptation attempts, hadn't found a film version worthy of C.S. Lewis's legend. The film, released back in 2005, was well received, or at least average, according to what I saw on Rottentomatoes... Or at least that's what it was compared to the first film.
There were three of them, the previous one better than the next, if you understand my bad sense of humor (😄). I saw the first film in the saga on DVD. I didn't even know it was an adaptation of a book, but I admit I was immediately hooked. I was about nine years old. My favorite character from the very beginning was the talking lion, with whom I suffered and cried, because yes, after Mufasa's tragedy (hard to overcome), I stumbled upon Aslan's tragedy. For some reason, Disney was doing very well creating movies where lions were killed.
What did Disney have against lions? Those sons of #$%& made us suffer.
I recently rewatched the saga (TikTok's fault), and the nostalgia returned. So, I decided to bring a little of that nostalgia back to the community, of course, for those who, like me, enjoyed this classic.
Las Crónicas de Narnia: El león, la bruja y el ropero
Ver a esa niña entrando a un mundo invernal a través de un ropero, me llevó a buscar mundos escondidos cuando tenía mis nueve años. Lo digo en serio. Imagino que los niños que se encantaron con esta primera película, hicieron lo mismo. Estuve recordando eso mientras la volví a ver; me pareció tan encantadora como la primera vez, ¡y vaya que pedazo de sountrack! A pesar de que han pasado ya 20 años, la historia de los hermanos Pevensie envejeció bien. Digo esto, porque cuando somos niños la noción es diferente, y cuando somos adultos, lo que alguna vez pudo parecer maravilloso puede terminar con ese típico: ¿Por qué me gustaba esa película?
De todas las escenas, la que más que golpeó (como dije al principio) fue la de Aslan en la mesa de piedra. Incluso ya de adulto sentí cierta nostalgia. De los hermanos, la pequeña Lucy me pareció más encantadora. A Edmund lo odié en mi niñez y luego otra vez cuando volví a ver la peli (😆). A los otros dos nunca los vi con el mismo carisma, quizás, porque no tuvieron un desarrollo igual de interesante. Y la bruja, pues... la bruja es simplemente detestable. Okay, pero la actriz (Tilda Wilton) sí que supo como lograr que la odiáramos. Reí cuando vi a James McAvoy interpretando al señor Tummus, no recordaba que, alguna vez, formó parte de la saga.
La primera entrega de la saga, al menos para mí, sigue siendo la mejor. Quizás porque intenta ser más fiel a los libros, y logra evocar la magia que intenta transmitir. Las escenas de batalla y las criaturas parlantes, me convencieron, más de lo que algunos Live Action recientes pudieron convencerme.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Seeing that little girl entering a winter world through a wardrobe led me to search for hidden worlds when I was nine years old. I mean it. I imagine the children who were enchanted by this first film did the same. I was reminded of that while rewatching it; I found it just as charming as the first time, and what a soundtrack it was! Even though 20 years have passed, the story of the Pevensie siblings has aged well. I say this because when we're children, the notion is different, and when we're adults, what once seemed wonderful can end with that typical: Why did I like that movie?
Of all the scenes, the one that struck me the most (as I said at the beginning) was Aslan at the stone table. Even as an adult, I felt a certain nostalgia. Of the siblings, I found little Lucy the most charming. I hated Edmund as a child, and then again when I rewatched the movie (😆). I never saw the other two as having the same charisma, perhaps because they didn't have an equally interesting development. And the witch, well... the witch is simply detestable. Okay, but the actress (Tilda Wilton) knew how to make us hate her. I laughed when I saw James McAvoy playing Mr. Tummus; I didn't remember that he was ever part of the series.
The first installment of the saga, at least for me, remains the best. Perhaps because it tries to be more faithful to the books and manages to evoke the magic it's trying to convey. The battle scenes and the talking creatures won me over, more than some recent live-action films could.
Las Crónicas de Narnia: El príncipe Caspian
A ver, la segunda entrega cinematográfica de esta saga, llegó para dejar atrás todo lo que conocimos en la primera película. ¿Magia? Sí, pero no tanta. ¿Criaturas parlantes? Sí, pero no tantas. Bueno, ustedes entienden. Narnia y los hermanos Pevensie no eran los mismos; esta vez, la trama se movía entre la fantasía y el realismo, enfrentados entre sí. La primera ocasión que la vi, extrañé mucho los viejos personajes, el mundo de ensueño y por supuesto, no entendí por qué todo había cambiado. Claro, pasaron un montón de años (creo que mil trescientos años 😄) y el señor Tumnus, los castores y demás estaban hechos polvo. Los enemigos son ahora los Telmarinos, conquistadores sin oficio, que van por ahí expropiando tierras y usurpando tronos como buenos socialistas, ah no, eso no iba ahí. 😂
Bromas aparte, la película es bastante épica; las batallas y las cuestiones de traiciones familiares le dan un toque bastante bueno. El final bastante melancólico, más aún cuando se revela que dos de los hermanos, ya no podrán volver a Narnia. Algo extra: fue la primera vez que vi una actuación, Ben Barnes, y como el príncipe Caspian, no me cayó muy bien.
De interés: Con esta segunda película, Andrew Adamson cerró su trabajo con la saga. Dos películas, con resultados algo diferentes, lo llevaron a un feliz término con su propia visión de cineasta, al menos según lo que opino yo. Hizo un buen trabajo, a pesar de las notables diferencias entre ambas entregas.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Well, the second film in this saga arrived to leave behind everything we knew in the first film. Magic? Yes, but not that much. Talking creatures? Yes, but not that many. Well, you get the idea. Narnia and the Pevensie siblings weren't the same; this time, the plot moved between fantasy and realism, at odds with each other. The first time I saw it, I really missed the old characters, the dream world, and of course, I didn't understand why everything had changed. Of course, a lot of years passed (I think 1,300 years 😄) and Mr. Tumnus, the beavers, and the rest were in tatters. The enemies are now the Telmarines, unskilled conquerors, who go around expropriating lands and usurping thrones like good socialists. Oh no, that wasn't the point. 😂
Joking aside, the film is quite epic; the battles and themes of family betrayal add a pretty good touch. The ending is quite melancholic, even more so when it's revealed that two of the brothers will never be able to return to Narnia. Something extra: it was the first time I saw Ben Barnes perform, and as Prince Caspian, I didn't like him very much.
Of interest: With this second film, Andrew Adamson concluded his work on the saga. Two films, with somewhat different results, brought him to a successful conclusion with his own vision as a filmmaker, at least in my opinion. He did a good job, despite the notable differences between the two installments.

Y finalmente, llegó Michael Apted para terminar de ponerle fin al asunto de Narnia. La tercera película ya no se siente nada igual a la primera esencia con la que me cautivó Disney. Aparte, se introdujo un nuevo personaje, que tal como se muestra en los libros, sería quien remplazara a los hermanos Pevensie (o a los dos que quedaban) de su rol protagónico. Pero, Will Poulter, el actor que llegó para el puesto, no fue de mi agrado. No lo sé, esta fue para mí la peli más floja de las tres. A pasar de que deseaba verla, mi espera fue algo decepcionante.
Y hasta lo que sé, no habrá más películas.
No todas las sagas de películas pueden mantenerse en la gloria por tanto tiempo, a menos que seas Peter Jackson y hayas creado la versión cinematográfica del señor de los anillos, 😂.

And finally, Michael Apted arrived to put a final end to the Narnia affair. The third film no longer feels anything like the first essence with which Disney captivated me. Aside from that, a new character was introduced, who, as depicted in the books, would replace the Pevensie siblings (or the two remaining ones) from their leading roles. But Will Poulter, the actor who was cast in the role, wasn't to my liking. I don't know, this was, for me, the weakest of the three films. Even though I was looking forward to seeing it, my wait was somewhat disappointing.
And as far as I know, there won't be any more films.
Not all film sagas can remain in their glory for that long, unless you're Peter Jackson and created the film version of Lord of the Rings, 😂.
Mi refugio ante la cancelación cinematográfica de Narnia, fue albergarme en los libros de C.S Lewis. Si bien la metáfora es supuesta por las creencias cristianas del autor, he de admitir que, al menos en la primera película, Andrew Adamson supo como transmitir algo de la mente de dicho autor, además de la esencia que transmite la saga literaria.
