The Endless & Resolution are part of an excellent "indie" mystery universe@dedicatedguy2466d

2 days ago I saw a mystery movie called The Endless and when I was researching the internet looking for theories that could explain what happens in the movie I saw there is a prequel called Resolution that is part of the same universe.

While watching The Endless there is a part where a man has his friend all handcuffed to force him to stop using drugs, I remembered watching a movie with the same plot but I didn't think more of it and I left it at that. But when reading on the internet that these characters had their own movie, I knew I had to look for it and it was the one I had seen years ago.

I find it curious that I have already seen both films some years ago and it was precisely this week when I realized they were part of the same universe. Both films are good but The Endless is clearly the best one and where we can see the true magnitude of the mystery of this great story.

Both films are about how some people (in the case of Resolution only 2 characters) have their lives kind of controlled by what seems to be a manipulation by a totally superior and ubiquitous entity. In the second film, The Endless we can see the ability that this entity has to mess with human beings, but I prefer not to mention the "how" specifically so as not to spoil you the film in case you decide to see it.

I recommend watching both, if you decide to see Resolution first, understand that it is an independent and low-budget film. Anyway, you can see The Endless first, which is a more complete production, you don't have to watch the movies in order to enjoy them and I bet that if you decide to see The Endless you will probably end up watching Resolution for curiosity's sake and to see if there is more information about the origins of what is happening.

Hace 2 días volví a ver una película de misterio llamada The Endless y cuando investigaba por internet buscando teorías que expliquen lo que sucede en la película veo que hay una precuela llamada Resolution que forma parte del mismo universo y que curiosamente yo ya había visto años antes.

Sucede que mientras veía The Endless hay una parte donde un hombre tiene a su amigo esposado para obligarlo a que deje de consumir drogas, yo recordaba haber visto una película con esa misma trama pero no pensé más y lo dejé así. Pero al leer por internet que esos personajes tenían su propia película supe que debía buscarla y en efecto era la que yo había visto años antes.

Me parece curioso que yo ya haya visto ambas películas desde hace años y justamente fue esta semana cuando me enteré de que formaban parte del mismo universo. Ambas películas son buenas pero The Endless es claramente la mejor de ambas y en donde podemos ver la verdadera magnitud del misterio de esta gran historia.

Ambas películas tratan sobre como algunas personas (en el caso de Resolution solo 2 personajes) ven sus vidas afectadas por lo que parece ser una especie de manipulación por parte de una entidad totalmente superior y omnipresente. En la segunda película, The Endless, se ve la capacidad que esta entidad tiene de jugar con los seres humanos, pero prefiero no mencionarlo específicamente para no dañarles le película en cado de que decidan verla.

Yo recomiendo ver ambas, si deciden ver primero Resolution entiendan que es una película independiente y de poco presupuesto. De todas maneras, se puede ver primero The Endless que es una producción mucho más completa, no hay que ver las películas en orden para disfrutarlas y seguramente que si desean ver The Endless primero probablemente terminen viendo Resolution por simple curiosidad y por ver si hay más información sobre los orígenes de lo que está sucediendo.

Ok, this is a very interesting movie and unique. I want to say that it is some sort of combination between Annihilation and YellowBrickRoad (an amazing horror movie, if you haven't watched it, you must), but that doesn't really work. I have to admit the trailer for this movie had me at the videotape. V/H/S have become a common horror trope and it never fails to deliver. It doesn't fail here either.

The atmosphere of the movie is great, the subtle changes in colors of the frame are amazing and the plot is really interesting and unique. The movie isn't scary as much as it will leave you wondering about the movie. But not about the actual world, so that's always a minus when it comes to horror movies in my opinion. This movie is not going to keep you up at night or give you nightmares. It's a small great horror atmosphere movie. In fact it was directed by the two brothers who play in the movie. I also found out it is also a sequel to a movie that is incorporated inside this one, so I will probably watch it as well when I get the opportunity.

Still, it's a good movie and it is worth your time. It comes out in the U.S.A. on April 6, 2018, but it already came out in some parts of the world so see it however you can.

I give it 7.5/10
