Early last year, I watched The Equalizer’s first and second season and it was interesting with a good future. The Equalizer series is the reboot of the 1985 tv show with the same name. I say, this reboot is a refreshing remake.
’The Equalizer (2021) tv series’ is a crime drama that was co-created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim. It was also developed by Andrew W. Marlowe & Terri Edda Miller. It starred Queen Latifah who is the lead actor with Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Lorraine Toussaint, Chris Noth and some other popular actors as guest actors.
Like I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I already saw the first and the second season. So today, I will be talking about the third season.
The third season of ’The Equalizer’ begins right from where the second season ended when Robyn McCall, a.k.a. "The Equalizer", a divorced single mother, ex-CIA operative, was kidnapped by Quinn and his men. Her daughter Deliah and Aunty Vi were all worried about her whereabouts.
Mel, Harry and Dante all pulled resources together to locate Robyn. In the end they were successful, but Quinn had other plans for Robyn. So in Quinn's compound Robyn was held captive. Quinn reveals that he will be framing her for the chemical bombs he would be planting around the city and by also releasing a deepfake manifesto to pin it all to Robyn.
Meanwhile, Robyn’s associates who were working tirelessly to find her succeed but it was too late. Quinn had already kicked start his bomb plans and Robyn was nowhere to be found. Did they give up on her? No, they continued until finally Mel was able to track down Robyn. But still Quinn and bombs are yet to be found. Will Quinn succeed with his plans? Or will Robyn and associates get to the bomb before it detonates?
My Favorite Characters.
Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall
Robyn a.k.a. "The Equalizer" was an iconic character. I loved how Queen Latifah played the role. Despite the fact that she is 54 years old, she performed all her stunts by herself and also performed stunts for some characters in the show. I say Queen Latifah was absolutely amazing with her role. I enjoyed watching her.
Liza Lapira as Melody "Mel"
Liza acted as Robyn’s best friend and a former U.S. Air Force sniper who later turned to the owner of a bar Robyn uses as her base of secret operation. Her role was entertaining to watch. She is gentle but can be ruthless when Robyn needs her field. Sometimes her action scenes are suspenseful because I fear she might be killed but the end comes out as the victor.
Adam Goldberg as Harry,
Adam acted as Mel’s husband and a master hacker. He is the man behind the computer doing his magic to be the eyes and ears of Robyn in the field. Never once for once has he disappointed Robyn or his wife. Always persistent and emotional. I loved his role.
Tory Kittles as Marcus Dante
Tory’s role is double faced. He is Robyn’s police support system and might be her love interest. Who knows because the chemistry is strong. His role was relatable and entertaining. I think without him, Robyn's identity as “the Equalizer” would have been revealed to the public and it would be a difficult journey to continue to be a vigilante.
My Review And Rating.
I really enjoyed this tv show. It got better with each season and if they continue this way, there will be more seasons to come in the future.
The plot was written in a suspenseful way. At the end of each episode, you have no option but to go to the next episode to know what happens next. The only thing that made me not want to watch this series in one sitting was sleep and headache. I had to or I would fall sick. With each episode the story keeps getting wilder and more interesting. Every subplot and backstory were well filled up with no room for boredom or unsteady flow of the show’s storyline.
The scene arrangements were excellent, the cinematography was fantastic, the visual and light exposure was absolutely perfect. The action scenes were well filmed that it was obviously that Queen Latifah did her stunts herself. All the locations used were well selected. Also, the songs used in each episode were either Rnb, oldies, and pop.
I appreciate something about this tv series which is letting a female be the lead character. It rare for CBS to let a female be the lead character in this kind of role, but I'm glad to see CBS decided to spice things up by using a strong black female as the lead. I can assure now that is not a regrettable decision to CBS.
Before I round, let talk about thr negative reviews on this show. I was to assure you that whatsoever you read on the internet about this show, don't believe it. This show is way better than the negative reviews. It is a show that practically portrayed the lives of those who don't have judicial system by side, who can't depend on the system to fight for them when justice is needed, and how government fail their society every time.
Rating this tv series, I will give it 8 out of 10 stars. It is a fantastic, interesting, snd thrilling show to watch anytime of the day. I would recommend this series to lovers of crime/thriller and Queen Latifah’s fans.
