Science, our anchor, fails. And that's where horror becomes existential.

The film generated panic, fainting in theaters, vomiting. But beyond those reactions, its impact is deeper. It changed cinema forever. It showed that the genre could be serious, could be respected, could address themes like faith, evil, and the nature of suffering. It opened the door to a more psychological, more cerebral horror, less dependent on the visible and more on the suggested.

   The scene where Regan descends the stairs, or the crucifixion, are images that are embedded in the subconscious. They are part of the language of horror. But, for me, the true marks are left by the moments. Chris MacNeil's voice, Karras's struggle, Father Merrin's conviction. It's those moments that remind you that behind the trappings, there is a story of pain, sacrifice, and the battle between light and darkness.

   No se tiene en ciencia cierta una guía asegurada para generar cine de calidad, ya que varía la visualización y la demanda del espectador, además del interés económico y el tamaño de la franquicia que se espere del mismo; lo que si es algo 100% seguro es que todo lo relacionado con ello debe evolucionar y obtener un producto que sea fiel a su época pero que no olvide las raíces de donde se originó, lo cual a decir verdad, no funciona del todo bien en estos últimos años y menos si los directores han apostado más a continuar con la historia clásica y forzar el uso de elementos actualizados que terminan arruinando una buena propuesta.

Considerando esta introducción como parte del reciclaje sobre exorcismos, al ser una historia basada en el texto con el mismo título, me sorprendió la manera en como buscaron desarrollar la historia de tal forma que cada capítulo fue mas intrigante que el anterior,al ser una secuela demasiado fiel y lógica del libro y creada por Jeremy Slater, el productor ejecutivo de "The Umbrella Academy; ésta continua el hilo de la película de 1973, en donde tanto el procedimiento, como la manipulación e interacción con los demonios, se van construyendo paso a paso, aportando intriga, suspenso y excelente interpretación.

   This time I bring you a recommendation that I did not expect to be surprised in this way, the series called: The Exorcist, tells the story of our central protagonist, Father Tomas Ortega, who will be sought to fight against an evil force that has existed for thousands of years and decided to possess the body and soul of a teenage girl, thus initiating the struggle between good and evil. Considering this introduction as part of the recycling on exorcisms, being a story based on the text with the same title, I was surprised by the way they sought to develop the story in such a way that each chapter was more intriguing than the previous one, being a sequel too faithful and logical of the book and created by Jeremy Slater, the executive producer of "The Umbrella Academy; it continues the thread of the 1973 film, where both the procedure, as the manipulation and interaction with the demons, are built step by step, providing intrigue, suspense and excellent interpretation.

   Aceptaré que su inicio es algo lento y con pocos elementos de interés, pero ante la construcción de los personajes, la historia de los mismos, el escenario, los efectos de audio, la iluminación y el uso de tecnologías en la animación; presentan el legado de un clásico de forma canónica tanto para las nuevas generaciones como el resurgimiento entre las cenizas de las escenas mas traumantes y bizarras que marcaron al exorcismo. La manera en como se muestra la pérdida de la conciencia, pureza y la contaminación de un ser por culpa de algo maligno, me orilló a sentir preocupación y pena por la víctima, el poder realizar algún acto para beneficio de los sacerdotes y la grandiosidad de su fe para frenar los fallecimientos por este acontecimiento, me mantuvieron al filo de mi silla hasta el ultimo capitulo.

   I will accept that its beginning is somewhat slow and with few elements of interest, but the construction of the characters, their story, the scenery, the audio effects, the lighting and the use of technologies in the animation, present the legacy of a classic in a canonical way for the new generations as well as the resurgence among the ashes of the most traumatic and bizarre scenes that marked the exorcism. The way in which the loss of conscience, purity and the contamination of a being by something evil is shown, made me feel concern and sorrow for the victim, the power to perform some act for the benefit of the priests and the grandeur of their faith to stop the deaths by this event, kept me on the edge of my seat until the last chapter.

   Desafortunadamente FOX decidió cancelar la serie en 2018, después de dos increíbles temporadas,aunque la verdad me sorprendió dicha decisión al enterarme, ya que dicha compañía siempre apuesta por proyectos de alto riesgo que terminan siendo algo sumamente impresionante; por ello al enterarme que éste fue cancelado por simplemente ir en contra del concepto Disney, a pesar de contar con mas de 1.3 millones de vistas..... sabemos bien que el jefe roedor, le gusta pisotear proyectos que van por buen camino, simplemente por no encajar en su mundo de fantasía. Si les interesa dar una oportunidad a esta increíble serie, la encontrarán en la plataforma de Prime Video, esperando me compartan su opinión al respecto.Gracias por leerme.

   Unfortunately FOX decided to cancel the series in 2018, after two incredible seasons,although the truth is that I was surprised to learn about this decision, since that company always bets on high-risk projects that end up being something extremely impressive; so when I learned that this one was canceled for simply going against the Disney concept, despite having more than 1.3 million views..... we know well that the rodent boss, likes to trample projects that are on the right track, simply for not fitting into their fantasy world.    I am not very fond of horror movies, however I could not stop watching this one on VHS format, since for age reasons I could not see it in the theater, and undoubtedly for the time it crossed the limits established until then, since the special effects made it very realistic and terrifying.

   Linda Blair's performance in the character of Regan, the girl possessed by the demon was perfect, it should be noted that at that time she was a girl of only thirteen years old and had never starred, she only had two appearances in small roles.

   Alongside her were Jason Miller as Father Damien Karras, Ellen Burstyn, a veteran actress with more than 20 years of career in the role of Chris, the mother of the exorcised girl, Max Von Sydow, as Father Lankester, and Lee J. Cobb who plays Detective William Kinderman.

   The plot revolves around the struggle between good and evil, represented by the demon and the religious, who put all their experience and faith to remove Pazuzu, an old Babylonian demon that Father Lankester had once defeated, from the girl's body.

   Chilling scenes, good staging of everything concerning the place and that magic to make the viewer get into each scene, produced fainting, screams and a collective psychosis that produced more than 440 million dollars at the box office and the nomination for 10 Oscars, of which won only 2, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound.

   The critics considered it one of the best of its kind in history and many scenes had to be deleted to be presented in some places as they were too strong for censorship, which is why in 2000 it was re-released with new edits and those scenes cut and others that did not appear in the original including a final epilogue where Detective Kinderman talks to Father Dyer about the duality of good and evil.

   The success led the producer to make several sequels and a prequel that did not reach the original success, the number II was called The Heretic and it involved Linda Blair, was released in 1973, in 1990 it was the turn of the Exorcist III and in 2004 a prequel entitled The Beginning, only the latter obtained less revenue from its production budget.

   Anecdotally, Linda Blair, despite her long film career, never again starred in a successful film and between 1982 and 1986 she won 5 Golden Raspberry Awards for worst actress.

   Nevertheless, this film is a must-see and represents one of the cult films in cinematic history.
