Hola Hivers amantes de las películas y series, en esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes una película que vi hace poco en la plataforma de streaming, así como es de costumbre en mis publicaciones les otorgaré una análisis sin spoilers bajo mi punto de vista, revisando algunos aspectos que me han llamado la atención de esta producción cinematográfica, al final de este post le otorgaré una puntuación según mi criterio y opinaré si vale la pena o no ver esta película, La Batalla Olvidada. ¡Comencemos!
Esta es una producción europea, específicamente de los Países Bajos, el cual anteriormente se conocía popularmente como Holanda. Es una película del año 2020 que podemos disfrutar en la plataforma de Netflix que cuenta con una duración de 124 minutos, su titulo original en neerlandés es “De Slag om de Schelde”. Es una película que podemos catalogarla en el género de drama bélico ambientado en la segunda guerra mundial ya acercándose al final de la misma luego de la invasión de los aliados a Europa y haciendo retroceder a los alemanes.
Sinopsis:
En 1944 la fuerza aliada necesita liberar el territorio neerlandés para abastecer las tropas y seguir su escalada rumbo a Berlín, tres jóvenes, un piloto ingles, un joven neerlandés del bando alemán y una joven civil neerlandesa observan desde tres puntos de vista los horres de la guerra y lo que puede significar una liberación crucial en la marcha hacia Berlín.
He comentado en muchas oportunidades que me agradan las películas basadas en hechos reales, pero si es un tema bélico o de guerras la producción inmediatamente capta mi atención. Aunque en la vida real odio las guerras me encanta consumir películas y contenido que tengan que ver con guerras que cambiaron el mundo, esta película se centra en un momento crucial en el destino de la humanidad, cerca del final de la guerra, los aliados atacando desde el occidente y los rusos desde el oriente, meses de mucha importancia para el destino del planeta entero.
A pesar de que me gusta este tipo de películas y conozco algunas pocas cosas de la segunda gran guerra, confieso que el contexto que desarrolla esta película no lo conocía o quizás lo ignoraba, tal vez esa es la razón del titulo, debido a que fue una batalla importante para continuar el avance de los aliados a Berlín, sin embargo, ha quedado olvidada en el tiempo, no lo sé y no soy historiador para opinar objetivamente en este aspecto, pero me pareció interesante ver una película sobre una batalla o liberación que no había visto anteriormente, normalmente las famosas películas sobre la segunda guerra mundial se centran en Polonia, Francia, Alemania y Rusia por lo cual esta creo que es la primera película que disfruto que se centra totalmente en Países Bajos.
Otro de los aspectos que atrae mi atención a esta película es que se divide en tres puntos de vista diferentes, tres jóvenes que desean vivir en libertad pero viendo la sangrienta lucha desde bandos distintos, me agrada este aspecto en el cual existen tres aventuras distintas dentro del mismo contexto que se unen en algún punto de la historia.
Aspectos visuales

Me agrada la fotografía y el entorno frío que se muestra en la película, podemos notar esa frialdad del ambiente y de la tensión que ocurre en ese poblado en el cual se va desarrollando el encuentro entre aliados y Nazis. La calidad de imagen es de primer nivel sin nada que envidiarle a producciones de otros países.
Esta historia que si bien es introducida en el genero dramático y que por momento podemos notar un ritmo lento, podemos notar buenos efectos visuales, el acercamiento aéreo de los aliados es una secuencia de escenas extraordinarias, además, podemos notar calidad en cuanto a las explosiones que ocurren en plena batalla. La historia y el ritmo que se le introduce a la película no amerita una exagerada utilización de efectos especiales, sin embargo, cuando la película nos muestra este trabajo técnico observamos que en cuanto a aspectos visuales no tienen nada que envidiarle a otras productoras, un trabajo bastante bueno y que siendo honesto me sorprende para una película de neerlandesa.
Para una película dramática notaremos que esta producción nos muestra una buena dosis de acción, no es una acción tan sostenida como otras películas bélicas pero la película muestra buenas escenas de acción en plena batalla, el tipo de escenas bélicas en donde no se tiene certeza de que el personaje en el cual esta girando la historia va a salir con vida de esa situación. Explosiones y heridos por doquier complementan buenas escenas bélicas mostrando por momentos algunos horrores de este tipo de enfrentamientos armados.
La película no es muy sangrienta a pesar de que muestra muchas heridas abiertas e incluso desmembramientos, sabiendo que el carril principal es la narrativa de la historia más que el impacto de las escenas sobre el espectador.
Desde mi punto de vista la película no abusa de los efectos especiales ni tampoco de esos enfrentamientos que se convierten en una verdadera carnicería, la prioridad de la producción es su narración envuelta en una historia dramática, dejando de lado la acción que si bien existe y posee escenas de calidad por momentos de deja de lado para encarrilar al espectador en esa historia dramática.
Creo que la película encuentra un buen punto de equilibrio si pensamos el desarrollo, contexto y sobre todo el género principal de esta producción, la película resulta ser entretenida llevando un ritmo mas acelerado cuando se está acercando el final, dejando un buen sabor de boca en su desenlace.
Aplaudo la labor que se realizó en esta película, teniendo en cuenta el país de origen, ciertamente los amantes de las películas hemos sido testigos de buenas producciones realizadas en Europa y creo que me faltaba analizar una película neerlandesa, una producción con muy buena calidad en imagen y una estructura narrativa entretenida para los amantes del drama bélico, sobre todo cuando nos acercamos al final de la película.
A veces ignoramos los horrores de las guerras, horrores que no se pueden mostrar en su totalidad en películas, sin embargo, recordar de alguna manera lo terrible que es un enfrentamiento armado entre países mediante este tipo de películas puede hacer reflexionar al espectador, en definitiva es una película larga pero entretenida.
Si, para el género de drama bélico es una buena producción, complementado con una buena calidad de imagen, efectos especiales y escenas de acción dentro de las batallas. Seguramente los amantes de este genero puedan disfrutar de esta larga película pero que en mi opinión no es una perdida de tiempo. Si la recomiendo teniendo en cuenta que la acción no es sostenida pero cuando aparece podemos disfrutar de buenas escenas.
Es un placer como siempre escribir para esta comunidad, la verdad no creo que exista un mejor lugar para opinar sobre películas que esta comunidad en Hive, espero que este pequeño post sea de agrado para todos ustedes, recordando que estoy atento a sus comentarios y opiniones sobre la película y sobre el genero de drama bélico.
Hello Hivers movie and series lovers, this time I want to share with you a movie I saw recently on the streaming platform, as usual in my publications I will give you an analysis without spoilers under my point of view, reviewing some aspects that have caught my attention of this film production, at the end of this post I will give a score according to my criteria and I will give my opinion if it is worth or not to see this movie, The Forgotten Battle. Let's start!
This is a European production, specifically from the Netherlands, which was formerly popularly known as Holland. It is a film of the year 2020 that we can enjoy on the Netflix platform that has a duration of 124 minutes, its original title in Dutch is "De Slag om de Schelde". It is a film that we can catalog it in the genre of war drama set in the Second World War already approaching the end of it after the invasion of the Allies to Europe and pushing back the Germans.
Synopsis:
In 1944 the Allied force needs to liberate Dutch territory to supply the troops and continue their climb towards Berlin, three young men, an English pilot, a young Dutchman on the German side and a young Dutch civilian girl observe from three points of view the horrors of war and what a crucial liberation might mean in the march towards Berlin.
I have commented on many occasions that I like movies based on real events, but if it is a war or war theme the production immediately captures my attention. Although in real life I hate wars I love to consume movies and content that have to do with wars that changed the world, this film focuses on a crucial moment in the fate of humanity, near the end of the war, the allies attacking from the west and the Russians from the east, months of great importance for the fate of the entire planet.
Although I like this kind of movies and I know a few things about the second great war, I confess that I didn't know the context of this movie or maybe I ignored it, maybe that's the reason of the title, because it was an important battle to continue the advance of the allies to Berlin, however, it has been forgotten in time, I don't know and I am not a historian to give an objective opinion on this aspect, but I found it interesting to see a movie about a battle or liberation that I had not seen before, usually the famous movies about WWII focus on Poland, France, Germany and Russia so this I think is the first movie I enjoy that focuses entirely on the Netherlands.
Another aspect that attracts my attention to this film is that it is divided into three different points of view, three young people who want to live in freedom but seeing the bloody struggle from different sides, I like this aspect in which there are three different adventures within the same context that come together at some point in the story.
Visual aspects

I like the photography and the cold environment that is shown in the film, we can notice the coldness of the atmosphere and the tension that occurs in that village in which the encounter between allies and Nazis is developing. The image quality is first class with nothing to envy to productions from other countries.
For a dramatic film we will notice that this production shows us a good dose of action, it is not an action as sustained as other war films but the film shows good action scenes in full battle, the kind of war scenes where there is no certainty that the character on which the story is turning will come out alive from that situation. Explosions and wounded everywhere complement good war scenes showing at times some of the horrors of this type of armed confrontation.
The film is not very gory despite showing many open wounds and even dismemberments, knowing that the main lane is the narrative of the story rather than the impact of the scenes on the viewer.
From my point of view the film does not abuse the special effects nor those confrontations that become a real carnage, the priority of the production is its narrative wrapped in a dramatic story, leaving aside the action that although it exists and has quality scenes at times left aside to put the viewer on track in that dramatic story.
I think the film finds a good balance point if we think the development, context and especially the main genre of this production, the film turns out to be entertaining taking a more accelerated pace when it is approaching the end, leaving a good taste in his mouth in its denouement.
I applaud the work that went into this film, taking into account the country of origin, certainly we film lovers have witnessed good productions made in Europe and I think I was missing to analyze a Dutch film, a production with very good quality in image and an entertaining narrative structure for lovers of war drama, especially when we approach the end of the film.
Sometimes we ignore the horrors of wars, horrors that can not be shown in their entirety in films, however, remember somehow how terrible is an armed confrontation between countries through this type of film can make the viewer reflect, ultimately it is a long but entertaining film.
Yes, for the war drama genre it is a good production, complemented with good picture quality, special effects and action scenes within the battles. Surely lovers of this genre can enjoy this long film but in my opinion it is not a waste of time. If I recommend it considering that the action is not sustained but when it appears we can enjoy good scenes.

What a pleasure it is to watch a film on a subject that you like and that illustrates to you the decisive, painful events, loaded with powerful silent thoughts, which are the foundation for liberation. The film The Forgotten Battle recreates the misery of the Nazi German occupation; images that leave you with a sense of wonder and excitement about the plot that lead you to assume, but do not affect the outcome at all because it is a story based on different perceptions.
The film The Forgotten Battle is a production that was released in 2021 of drama and war genre based on real life facts that from my point of view gives it the character of seriousness, because it is about the Second World War. It is a film that tells a part of one of many battles that arose, but with the particularity of an important and strategic occupied territory for the Nazis, until the allied army manages to enter to liberate and continue. The film is based on the Battle of the Scheldt Estuary, the plot tells the life of three characters, an English pilot, a Dutch Nazi soldier and a Dutch girl who faces, all have the same concept of life, they want freedom. This aspect fascinated me, as the grim experience narrates the oppressive and the oppressive feeling of those who remain silent about injustice and react to make a change.

La película La Batalla Olvidada recrea lo miserable de la ocupación de los alemanes Nazis; asimismo imágenes que dejan sensación de asombro y emoción acerca de la trama que te llevan a suponer, pero que no afecta en absoluto el desenlace debido a que es una historia basada en diferentes percepciones.
El film La Batalla Olvidada es una producción que se estrenó en 2021 de género drama y guerra sustentada en hechos de la vida real que desde mi pensar le da el carácter de seriedad, porque trata acerca de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Es una película que cuenta una parte de una de tantas batallas que surgieron, pero con la particularidad de un territorio ocupado importante y estratégico para los nazis, hasta que el ejercito aliado logra ingresar para liberar y continuar. La película se basa en la Batalla de estuario de Escalda, la trama cuenta la vida de tres personajes, un piloto Inglés, un soldado Nazis Holandés y una chica Neerlandesa que hace frente, todos tienen el mismo concepto de la vida, quieren libertad. Aspecto que me fascinó, ya que la experiencia lúgubre narra el sentir agobiante y opresor de quienes callan sobre injusticia y reaccionan para hacer el cambio.

The film from beginning to end keeps you focused; what you watch does not need dialogue to understand what is going on. Just dialogues that for some may be considered insufficient, but for me there was a precise and timely speech, not to mention that during the film there was never disenchantment, in my opinion because the film is well directed and it is also a subject that captures my attention.
The cinematography is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen who created a story from the feelings of three characters with different stances on the war that overwhelms the cultures that coexist, while in the territory of the Netherlands the battle will change the destiny. The director revives a conflict in which the Canadian army manages to penetrate the flooded zone to attack the worn out Nazi military group. However, the most interesting thing is to live the realities of young people who have to fight for what they do not want in a space where to do or not to do brings dire consequences, healing and others of tranquility, depending on how each of them is perceived.
La introducción de la película grafica la retirada de los Nazis debido al desplazamiento de la fuerza de los aliados (canadiense), una estrategia viable porque es una manera de situar y preparar al espectador sobre un lugar donde converge la pena, la negación, el miedo y los planes para resistir y luchar en contra de los Nazis. La película desde el principio hasta el final te mantiene concentrado; lo que observas no necesita diálogos para comprender lo qué sucede. Diálogos justos que para algunos puede considerarse insuficiente, pero para mí hubo un discurso preciso y oportuno, sin mencionar que durante la película nunca hubo desencanto, en mi opinión porque está bien dirigida la película y además es un tema que capta mi atención.
La cinematografía está dirigida por Matthijs van Heijningen quien creó una historia desde el sentir de tres personajes con posturas diferentes sobre la guerra que atropella a las culturas que coexisten, mientras en territorio de los Países Bajos la batalla cambiará el destino. El director revive un conflicto en el que el ejército canadiense logra penetrar la zona inundada para arremeter con el grupo militar Nazis débil. Sin embargo, lo más interesante es vivir las realidades de jóvenes que tienen que luchar por aquello que no quieren en un espacio donde hacer o no hacer trae consecuencias nefastas, sanadoras y otras de tranquilidad, según como se perciba cada una de ellas.

Por otra parte, el desarrollo del combate violento que muestran escenas crudas, con efectos especiales tienen impacto, los cuales me hicieron recordar a la película Buscando al Soldado Ryan. La música tiene el poder de manifestar sensación y los efectos sonoros estremece el sentido auditivo para crear angustia y dolor.

La Batalla Olvidada tuvo un reparto valioso de jóvenes actores destacado Susan Radder (Teuntje) una chica que aprendió a servir a los alemanes soberbios que tomaron su país,una joven fresca, temerosa y fuerte. Ella está a la espera de los aliados, los minutos la obligan a resistir con firmeza antes las atrocidades y empezar a librar la batalla. Gijs Blom (Marinus) un soldado que sirve a los alemanes, tranquilo para no romper el orden, sucumbir en rabia y cansado obra para bien sin importar su destino, un paso para estar la batalla. Jamie Flatters (William) un piloto que se suma a la guerra y de ser un joven inocente, los días que vive lo transforma en un ser fuerte, optimista, solidario y respetuoso para ganar la batalla. El resto son importantes, todos los demás le dieron el valor a la cinta que se merece.
Amigos del cine, si les gusta el tipo de largometraje basado en hechos de la segunda Guerra Mundial, la película La Batalla Olvidada de Netflix tiene una visión diferente en abordar lo vil de la guerra bélica y lo mágico de vivir una historia a partir de una realidad dura que la magia de la película puede lograrla.
