Immediately I was done watching the south African movie the polygamist on netflix another beautiful movie popped up for me and it happened to be (THE FOUR OF US ) A beautiful south African movie, let's get right into the review.
The movie four of us is a very interesting movie added to south African TV in 2026, the production team for this movie are Tshedza Pictures. It has been premiered on e tv by 8pm making it available to the audience.
In this beautiful movie it's mostly a struggle about family resentment, betrayal and family inheritance troubles. The Dhlomo family gives off the strong and perfect family outside, while they struggle with unhealed family wounds that have been in attended to over the years.
After the death of the family patriarch, a lot questions surrounding who deserves what begin to expose the cracks within the family. The first episode immediately establishes this tension, with the siblings fighting over their birthright and inheritance. The four of us includes the four siblings by name, Busani, Bobbi, Banzi and Bulingile. This movie shows family relationship at its peak it portrayed the good and the bad.
I wouldn't say they hate each other yes they did but they still love eachother. Despite the competition, disappointment and the constant struggle for power and recognition between them in the family. Most of the characters stood out for me and I will love to talk about them.
Sindi Dlathu who played the role of Busani is a very beautiful woman who had spent most of her carrying the responsibility of the family. She has always seen herself as the best who knows what is best for the family and the family reputation. She becomes controlling because of her determination.
Sdumo Mtshali played by Bobbi. From the movie he lived his life in the shadows and finally some luck shines on him to run his father's company as his inheritance and tries so much to prove himself. Looking deeply you would find out that he wasn't there for the inheritance but for the power and authority.
Speaking of Banzi which was played by Thembinkosi Mthembu he is going through a different kind of pain of not being loved and seen , while secretly falling for his brother's wife. His big desire for validation becomes too much to handle .
The Gen z of the family, Bulingile which was played by Kealeboga Masango. A very strong alcoholic mostly when she is sad or angry . Being more carefree than the rest of the family. She took had her own relationship issues to deal and her unresolved grief with the family.
Next on the list is Ndumi , her character becomes really interesting because she comes from a different family background and this makes the movie not to be centred around the Dhlomo household only , here we see sacrifices,sense of responsibility, love and belonging. Her relationship with Bobbi has a very beautiful chemistry because their relationship wasn't centered around the inheritance, it's one of my favourite parts in the movie.
To wrap it all up the four of us doesn't paint the perfect picture of family. It clearly shows that people can love each other and still hurt eachother deeply. This speaks of siblings in so many ways like the trauma childhood following siblings into adulthood. At the end it wasn't just about wealth but recognition.
