U.S. politics has proven to be brutal, no matter who is involved in politics, they will be exposed to public scrutiny for whatever they do, big or small, politicians will always be judged for their actions and those of their loved ones. We have already seen in other movies how small mistakes can cost politicians everything and once again with The Front Runner it is demonstrated that if you are a politician or if you are in a campaign you should not make any mistakes or you will be bombarded by the media who will do everything to see you fall.

> Gary Hart, former Senator of Colorado, becomes the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1987. Hart's intelligence, charisma and idealism makes him popular with young voters, leaving him with a seemingly clear path to the White House. All that comes crashing down when allegations of an extramarital affair surface in the media, forcing the candidate to address a scandal that threatens to derail his campaign and personal life.

The race to get the white house and the presidency of the most powerful country in the world is not easy, much less clean. This film focuses on the event that led to the fall of the man chosen by the Democrats to run for president, a man who no matter how intelligent and capable was, was judged by an error that any man could have made, an error that no matter how serious it was had an abysmal impact on his political career and personal life, leaving him isolated and basically ruined.

The central plot of the film focuses on the campaign of a man elected by the Democrats to make the presidency of the United States, a man who unlike other politicians gets along with the people, is a friend of some of the press and is extremely intelligent; basically he was the perfect man for the job. Unfortunately his chances end when in the middle of his travels he meets a young woman with whom he decides to have an adventure, an adventure that is discovered and exposed by a media system that destroys him despotily without giving him the slightest break.

This is the typical political plot where a politician's career is ruined by a mistake, the interesting thing is that in Gary Hart's case his career was ruined by the press and not by a rival seeking to take advantage. For me the film fantastically manages to build a story that does not revolve around politics but rather in the viciousness of the media against a man who even being the perfect man for a job ends up losing it and retiring to no longer expose himself to public scrutiny. The film fantastically exposes the way in which political advisors operate in certain crises to save and protect their candidates as much as possible.
This is a movie that shows how a mistake can ruin the lives of innocent people who have done virtually nothing wrong.

# Final Thoughts
#
This is a film that shows us how flawed the American political system is, a political system that can be easily manipulated by the media and that is totally weak in the election of its candidates. The film manages to transmit very well all the drama surrounding Gary Hart's affair, with Hugh Jackman who manages to incarnate a role that seems to have been written for him, moving away from any possible memory of him as Wolverine transmitting empathy, intelligence and a tremendous charisma that makes us feel sorry for the treatment he receives from the media.

In addition, the creators achieve a very strong social critique highlighting the treatment received by an innocent young woman who saw her world fall apart, and how her life was exposed to criticism for something she did for love and not for seeking some kind of fame. Sara Paxton achieves an emotional and sad performance that puts us in the place of the real victim of all this problem, a young woman who was treated like garbage by most people, a young woman who nobody asked how she even felt.
In short, this is a film that manages to show perfectly the lowest instincts of the media when it comes to finding a story that puts them in the spotlight, with a story manipulated beyond the facts to attract more attention and with a climax that achieves perfectly trigger a plot that becomes very entertaining.
