Hello everyone, saw a zombie movie not my usual genre, but here I was surprised. Kept me excited and interested throughout, a film that stands out in its genre. This is a 2016 zombie film directed by Colm McCarthy.😃
The film is about a young girl Melanie, played by Sennia Nanua, in a dystopian future where a fungal infection has turned most people into mindless zombies. But even though Melanie is infected, she retains her humanity and intelligence. I thought there was great acting, especially by Sennia Nanua and was swept up in the story which had some unexpected events during the film. There is a good script and the film achieves an emotional depth in the interaction between Melanie and her teacher Helen Justineau, who is played by Gemma Arterton. Here you get excitement, horror and philosophical questions about survival. A well-executed film with a couple of places that could have been better, but definitely worth seeing if you like the genre. And especially if you like a deeper, more meaningful story. The visuals are also very good. This gets a strong 7.
A fungus that settles in the human brain turns all the people it infects through blood and saliva into zombies. Compared to other zombie-themed movies, the story is more interesting in terms of the initial stage of the virus.
What makes the story of The Girl with All the Gifts more interesting is that the children infected with the virus in the womb are born both as humans and zombies. Although the process of coming into the world is a bit troublesome, the movie focuses on the half-zombie, half-human child species and seeks to find a definitive solution to the problem through them.
Up to a point, the movie manages to keep the mystery about the children and the tension it spreads through the children; up to a point, it carries the momentum in a way to move upwards. While the movie arouses a lot of curiosity in the moments when the story is mysterious, I can say that the story flow was extraordinary.
The adventure that starts in a laboratory moves outside and, best of all, into nature. In productions where the human race is facing extinction, I am so used to watching a character's efforts to save all of humanity and succeed in the end; in a production where a similar hero was not created and humanity almost came to an end, what happened managed to turn me upside down. It had an unusual ending and I think that was one of the little details that made the movie more special.
The story of the movie turns into a chase after everything is revealed and the mysteries are solved. I can't say that I found the moments when the action starts unsuccessful, but I can say that it caused the movie's momentum to drop. I think the mystery of the movie could have been kept for a while longer and the atmosphere of tension could have been maintained.
But in spite of everything, after the final scene at the end of the movie throws the audience for a loop, you forget a few negatives. In general terms, I can say that the story of the movie progresses in the mystery and thriller genre up to a certain point, and after a certain point, it progresses in the adventure genre. I can't help but say that I liked the mystery-thriller moments more.
Sennia Nanua, who gave life to the character of Melanie, who was born half human and half zombie and who was at the center of all the researches, was the focal point of the story of the film. I can say that she gave a very successful performance, but what I didn't understand was whether she was the one who destroyed humanity or the one who saved humanity.
Gemma Arterton, who plays Helen, was my favorite actress. She knew what she was doing and was confident throughout the movie. At no point in the story did her character contradict herself and her actions. At the end of the movie, even though I couldn't figure out whether she was a prisoner or a leading role in the emergence of a new race, the character she portrayed was in harmony with the story of the movie.
You should definitely watch The Girl with All the Gifts. The movie is quite different from the usual zombie movies and stories. I am saying this both in terms of story progression and in terms of characters. I am sure you will understand what I mean better when you watch the movie.

Incluso he llegado a pensar que existe la posibilidad que en el mundo real algo pueda suceder, es decir, estamos en constante evolución y parte de esos experimentos pues ya vemos; soy de los que aun piensa que el covid es una enfermedad mejorada en laboratorio.
When I think of Zombies, the first thing that comes to my mind is the end of the world. I have even come to think that there is a possibility that something could happen in the real world, that is, we are in constant evolution and part of those experiments, we already see; I am one of those who still think that the covid is a disease improved in the laboratory.
En fin que el punto es la trama de esta película apocalíptica que por cierto me ha dado que pensar en un sentido que hasta apoye ciertas cosas que pueden parecer descabelladas.
Anyway, the point is the plot of this apocalyptic movie that by the way has given me food for thought in a way that even supports certain things that may seem far-fetched.
Cuando vemos una película de muertos vivientes casi nunca usan niños en estos actos. En esta marcaron una distancia bastante interesante dado que el origen de todo son niños, y en especial una que tiene una capacidad para analizar y tomar con normalidad las situaciones.
When we see a living dead movie they almost never use children in these acts. In this one they marked a quite interesting distance given that the origin of everything are children, and especially one that has a capacity to analyze and take with normality the situations.
A pesar de ser una zombi, por muy que la detalles, te das cuenta que parece una persona común y corriente hasta que te frotas la piel y te quitas el bloqueador especial para que ellos no detecten tu olor. Allí se transforman, pero aún así esta niña usa la intuición de protección que tenemos los humanos para evitar que algo malo le pase a ciertas personas, es decir, a pesar de estar infectada protege a la humanidad.
Despite being a zombie, no matter how much you detail her, you realize that she looks like an ordinary person until you rub your skin and take off the special sunscreen so that they do not detect your smell. There they transform, but even so, this girl uses the intuition of protection that we humans have to prevent something bad from happening to certain people, that is, despite being infected, she protects humanity.

Debido a una gran masa de zombis todos tuvieron que escapar, muchos por supuesto murieron; que por cierto, se me hace ahora común ver que los zombis corren cuando tengo entendido que son torpes y suelen ser lentos, supongo que ya han evolucionado también en cada una de las tramas que les incluye.
Due to a great mass of zombies everyone had to escape, many of course died; which by the way, it is now common for me to see that zombies run when I understand that they are clumsy and usually slow, I guess they have already evolved as well in each of the plots that include them.

However, the fact of being a girl who was always trapped and used, makes her someone who knows nothing about life so her curiosity and the fact of understanding everything leads her to make decisions that go against what was her dream in the beginning.
Ya no se trataba de escapar a un lugar seguro ni muchos menos ser de ayuda a la humanidad. Una vez que descubre que es incierto si ella esta o no viva. Dicha incógnita la lleva a lo que otra persona pudiera hacer, buscar la supervivencia de su especie, incluso si la vida de la persona que quieres cambia para siempre.
It was no longer about escaping to safety, let alone being of any help to humanity. Once she discovers that it is uncertain whether or not she is alive. That uncertainty leads her to what someone else might do, seek the survival of her species, even if the life of the person you love is changed forever.
En mi opinión fue una de las decisiones más acertadas para dar un cambio al cliché del mundo zombi, y pues debo acotar que la personalidad de Melanie es algo extraordinaria, no por el hecho de no ser humana, sino por lo mismo, era más humana que cualquier otro.
In my opinion it was one of the best decisions to give a change to the cliché of the zombie world, and I must point out that Melanie's personality is something extraordinary, not because she is not human, but for the same reason, she was more human than anyone else.
A pesar de que es una trama de horror, creo que lo ubicaría más en la de suspenso.
Although it is a horror plot, I think I would place it more in the suspense one.
