Cuando veo una buena película y al final veo que está basada en hechos de la vida real, eso definitivamente la hace aún mejor para mí. Tal es el caso de este filme del año 2003, protagonizada por dos actores que son de mis preferidos a la hora de interpretar personajes de este estilo, me refiero a mi experiencia y opinión sobre The Hunted, o por su nombre acá en Venezuela “la Cacería”. En la que sobresalen las actuaciones en rol estelar de Tommy Lee Jones y Benicio Del Toro.
A Film I Remember for its Great Acting.
When I watch a good movie and at the end I see that it is based on real life events, that definitely makes it even better for me. Such is the case with this 2003 film, starring two actors who are among my favourites when it comes to playing characters of this style, I refer to my experience and opinion of The Hunted, or by its name here in Venezuela "la Cacería". In which the stellar performances of Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro stand out.

¿Saben algo? Me encantan las tramas donde se les da el respeto a los personajes de mayor experiencia, en los casos cuando la vieja escuela se hace notar y hace la diferencia. Definitivamente esto es lo que ha capturado mi atención al ver este filme que combina drama y acción; y donde las actuaciones de estos señores del cine, hacen olvidar al resto de los personajes logrando atraer hacia ellos, toda nuestra atención. Por eso, aunque pueda parecer un argumento algo básico, el trabajo actoral le da ese plus que trasciende todo lo demás.
You know what? I love plots where respect is given to the more experienced characters, where the old school comes to the fore and makes a difference. This is definitely what has captured my attention when watching this film that combines drama and action; and where the performances of these gentlemen of the cinema, make us forget the rest of the characters and attract our attention to them. That's why, although it may seem a rather basic plot, the acting work gives it that extra that transcends everything else.
Es así como, un viejo zorro de la vida y supervivencia en naturaleza, es llamado para, literalmente, cazar a una extraño asesino muy particular en su manera de proceder, alguien que no dejaba huellas y que era prácticamente indetectable, por lo que llegan a la conclusión de que se trata de un experto; entonces acuden a la ayuda de alguien muy experimentado, para ir tras el asesino y evitar así más muertes. Este escenario me genera un tema sumamente apetecible, máxime cuando el experto observa la escena del crimen, inmediatamente deduce de quien se trata y efectivamente es alguien que fue alumno suyo hace muchos años, mejor dicho, su mejor alumno.

This scenario generates an extremely appealing theme for me, especially when the expert observes the scene of the crime, immediately deduces who it is, and indeed it is someone who was his student many years ago, or rather, his best student.
Comienza entonces esta extraña cacería entre humanos, de una manera distinta, sin armas de fuego y utilizando exclusivamente sus más agudos sentidos, como lo son, la vista, el olfato, el oído, eso que llamamos sexto sentido y un cuchillo. Vemos emocionantes persecuciones y choques de autos, pero la mayor parte de la acción se desarrolla en una zona boscosa, lejos de la ciudad y en combates cuerpo a cuerpo y mano a mano, algo en verdad diferente a otros filmes. Ciertamente se asemeja en el argumento, a otras producciones, en vista de los traumas mentales y violentos recuerdos que pasan por la mente de Halland, interpretado excelentemente por Benicio del Toro, quien presenta múltiples trastornos post guerra, al estilo rambo, pero con su propia historia. Pero a diferencia del General Trautman, en este caso, el maestro de Aaron, L.T Bonham (Tommy Lee Jones) intenta detenerlo, ya que se ha convertido en un despiadado y desquiciado asesino.

Puedo entonces afirmar que, si tiene parecido a una mezcla de varias películas, pero con la particularidad del enfrentamiento directo entre el alumno y el maestro. Un filme que en verdad me ha gustado y que cuenta con os elementos necesarios para entretener y para hacernos imaginar las posibilidades y los escenarios. Acompañada de la gran actuación de estos dos grandes del cine, que lamentablemente se enfrentan entre sí para poder evitar más muertes innecesarias. Siempre se ha dicho que el alumno supera al maestro, pero no siempre el maestro le enseña todo a su alumno.
I can therefore affirm that it does resemble a mixture of several films, but with the particularity of the direct confrontation between the pupil and the teacher. A film that I really liked and that has the necessary elements to entertain and to make us imagine the possibilities and scenarios. Accompanied by the great acting of these two greats of cinema, who unfortunately confront each other in order to avoid more unnecessary deaths. It has always been said that the pupil surpasses the master, but the master does not always teach his pupil everything.
Dato positivo: La magia que logran hacer cuando unen varias ideas de otros filmes, pero al final logran darle su toque característico y el recuerdo de que vimos una producción con desarrollo y desenlace diferente.
Dato negativo: Es difícil imaginar a un señor de la edad de Tommy Lee Jones, correr tan veloz y saltar del techo de una casa y salir ileso. Además de que al recibir heridas cortantes, ambos personajes seguían luchando como si nada. Y por último, no se ven las cicatrices de aquellas heridas sangrientas, ocasionadas en la pelea.
Positive fact: The magic they manage to do when they put together several ideas from other films, but in the end they manage to give it their characteristic touch and the memory that we saw a production with a different development and outcome.
Downside: It's hard to imagine a man of Tommy Lee Jones' age running so fast and jumping off the roof of a house and coming out unscathed. Besides the fact that both characters were still fighting as if nothing had happened when they received slashing wounds. And finally, you don't see the scars of those bloody wounds from the fight.
