Today I would like to share with you a movie that I saw this afternoon and that I really loved, it is "The Last Letter From Your Lover" which was released through the Netflix platform, and stars Felicity Jones, Nabhaan Rizwan, Callum Turner, Shailene Woodley and Joe Alwyn. I hope you like it.
¡Hola, hola amigos cinéfilos! Espero estén muy bien y que tengan una bonita semana. Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes una película que ví esta tarde y que de verdad me encantó, se trata de "La Última Carta de Amor" la cual fué estrenada a través de la plataforma Netflix, y está protagonizada por Felicity Jones, Nabhaan Rizwan, Callum Turner, Shailene Woodley y Joe Alwyn. Espero les agrade.
Plot / Trama
The story first takes us to the year 1965, where Jennifer Stirling suffers memory loss after a car accident and is unable to remember much of her life and that she is not happy with her husband either but, while trying to remember, she discovers what is a love letter written by "Boot" and is totally intrigued and decides to remember what happened using the letters as clues. Then, it takes us to the present time in which the journalist Ellie Haworth finds one of the love letters by mistake when looking for information for an article that she has to write about the editor of the newspaper for which she works who had recently died and moved With the letters and the great feelings of love and passion between the mysterious couple, Ellie decides to investigate with the help of Rory, who controls the publisher's files.
La historia primero nos traslada al año 1965, donde Jennifer Stirling sufre pérdida de la memoria luego de un accidente de auto y es incapaz de recordar gran parte de su vida y que tampoco es feliz con su esposo pero, mientras intenta recordar descubre lo que es una carta de amor escrita por "Boot" y queda totalmente intrigada y decide recordar lo que pasó usando las cartas como pistas. Luego, nos translada a la época actual en el que la periodista Ellie Haworth encuentra una de las cartas de amor por error al buscar información para un articulo que tiene que escribir sobre el editor del periódico para el que trabaja el cual había fallecido recientemente y conmovida con las cartas y los grandes sentimientos de amor y pasión entre la misteriosa pareja, Ellie decide investigar con ayuda de Rory, el cual controla los archivos del editor.
As we see Ellie and Rory's exhaustive investigation, we also see Jennifer's passionate extramarital illicit affair with a journalist named Anthony O'Hare whom she met when she went to interview Jennifer's husband Lawrence, and they end up falling in love as that they get to know each other and spend time together. Anthony and Jennifer begin to frequently write letters to each other under the pseudonyms "Boot" and "J" and let their feelings run wild while Jennifer's husband Lawrence spends it on business trips. Anthony proposes to Jennifer that they escape together to New York, where they have offered her a job and although at first Jennifer refuses, then she decides to go after him but this becomes impossible due to the car accident in which she lost her memory. . On the other hand, as their investigation progresses, Ellie and Rory also manage to fall in love, but after a night of passion, she decides to ignore him and continue her work to find Anthony and Jennifer after discovering that they are still alive.
A la vez que vemos la exhaustiva investigación de Ellie y Rory, también vemos el apasionado romance ilícito extramarital de Jennifer con un periodista llamado Anthony O'Hare el cual conoció cuando fué a entrevistar a Lawrence el esposo de Jennifer, y se terminan enamorando a medida de que se van conociendo y pasando tiempo juntos. Anthony y Jennifer comienzan a escribirse cartas con frecuencia bajo los seudónimos "Boot" y "J" y le dan rienda suelta a lo que sienten mientras el esposo de Jennifer, Lawrence se la pasa en viajes de negocios. Anthony le propone a Jennifer escapar untos a Nueve York, en dónde le han ofrecido trabajo y aunque al principio Jennifer se se niega luego decide ir trás él pero esto se hace imposible debido a que ocurre el accidente de auto en el cual ella perdió la memoria. Por otro lado, a medida que avanza su investigación Ellie y Rory también logran enamorarse pero luego de una noche de pasión, ella decide ignorarlo y continuar con su labor de encontrar a Anthony y Jennifer tras descubrir que aún viven.
When Ellie meets Jennifer, at first she didn't want to talk about it but then she meets Anthony who also worked at the newspaper and he urges Ellie to talk to Jennifer again and deliver Anthony's letters to her. Ellie realizes how both Jennifer and Anthony regret not being able to be together and suffer the pain of their lost romance, so she decides to take a chance with Rory instead of living with regrets so she goes to look for him at his apartment and then they kiss in the rain. Ellie then encourages Anthony to write Jennifer a letter again (since she still has her mailbox open) asking her to meet again, and Jennifer opens her mailbox at the post office and reads it. . Ellie and Rory take Anthony to the park where he and Jennifer first kissed and as Anthony is about to leave, Jennifer appears and the two finally reunite. Anthony and Jennifer imagine what it would have been like if she, instead of suffering the car accident, had arrived on time and they both leave together on the train.
Cuando Ellie conoce a Jennifer, al principio no quería hablar al respecto pero luego conoce a Anthony el cual también trabajaba en el periódico y este, insta a Ellie a volver a hablar con Jennifer y a entregarle las cartas de Anthony. Ellie se da cuenta de como tanto Jennifer como Anthony se lamentan el no poder haber estado juntos y sufren el dolor de su romance perdido, por lo que decide darse una oportunidad con Rory en lugar de vivir de arrepentimientos por lo que acude a buscarlo a su apartamento y luego se besan bajo la lluvia. Luego Ellie anima a Anthony a escribirle nuevamente una carta a Jennifer (ya que ella todavía tiene su buzón de correos abierto) en la que le pide que se vuelvan a reunir, y Jennifer al abrir su buzón en la oficina de correos la recibe y lee. Ellie y Rory llevan a Anthony al parque en el que él y Jennifer se besaron por primera vez y cuando Anthony está a punto de irse, aparece Jennifer y los dos finalmente se vuelven a reunir. Anthony y Jennifer imaginan como hubiese sido si ella en lugar de sufrir el accidente de auto, hubiese llegado a tiempo y ambos se van juntos en el tren.
My Opinion / Mi Opinión
I came to this film because it is based on a book whose author is one of my favorites (Jojo Moyes, also the author of the book Me Before You, also made into a movie) and I really liked it a lot, although I haven't had the opportunity to read the book yet. . I will start by talking about the work of the actors, which I liked, I already knew Shailene Woodley from several movies like Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars, and series like Big Little Lies, also Felicity Jones from movies like Inferno and Rogue One , Callum Turner for his role in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Joe Alwyn for being a couple with my favorite singer and I must say that they were all very good, I felt that between Shailene and Callum there was a lot of chemistry between them and they made a nice couple, Joe Alwyn also played the role of a dry and conceited man who clearly doesn't really love his wife very well, and I'm not complaining about Felicity Jones either, she's always seemed like a great actress to me and this time was no exception, because which on this side I am satisfied.
Llegué a esta película porque se basa en un libro cuya autora es de mis favoritas (Jojo Moyes, también autora del libro también llevado al cine Yo Antes de Tí) y de verdad me gustó mucho aunque todavía no he tenido la oportunidad de leer el libro. Empezaré hablando del trabajo de los actores el cual fué de mi agrado, ya conocía de antes a Shailene Woodley por varias películas como Divergente y Bajo la Misma Estrella, y series como Big Little Lies, también a Felicity Jones por peliculas como Inferno y Rogue One, a Callum Turner por su papel en Animales Fantásticos y dónde Encontrarlos, y a Joe Alwyn por ser pareja de mi cantante favorita y debo decir que estuvieron todos muy bien, sentí que entre Shailene y Callum hubo mucha química entre ellos e hicieron una linda pareja, también Joe Alwyn interpretó muy bien el papel de un hombre seco y engreído el cual se nota que realmente no ama a su esposa, y tampoco me quejo de Felicity Jones, siempre me ha parecido una gran actriz y esta vez no fué la excepción, por lo que por este lado estoy satisfecha.
I also liked the story a lot, as I said before, it is based on the novel of the same name written by Jojo Moyes and although I still don't know how faithful it is to the book, I found it really beautiful. Although part of a cliché (typical unhappy wife whose husband does not really love her and then she meets someone with whom she really lives a great love story that cannot be and blah blah blah) I found it touching, beautiful and tragic at the same time already I like the way they fall in love, but I don't really like everything they suffer in the process, like the accident and what comes later, and I would have liked them to have had the initiative and courage to find time later, not having to wait more than 40 years for a persevering journalist to appear to unite them. On an emotional level, I would say that it moved me a lot inside, since the reunion between the two lovers was very nice in the same park where they kissed for the first time a long time ago, and I was also moved that Ellie decided to give herself a new opportunity. to love after seeing how Anthony and Jennifer suffered for having lost each other, he realized that it is better to take advantage of love than to let it go and I would say that those scenes were my favorites in the whole movie hahaha. Although it is a film set in 2 different times (present and past) I thought it was well done.
La historia también me gustó mucho, como dije antes se basa en la novela del mismo nombre escrito por Jojo Moyes y aunque no se todavía que tan fiel es al libro me pareció realmente hermosa. Aunque parte de un cliché (tipíca esposa infeliz cuyo esposo no la ama realmente y luego conoce a alguien con el que realmente vive una gran historia de amor que no puede ser y bla bla bla) me pareció conmovedora, bonita y trágica a la vez ya que me gusta la manera en la que ellos se enamoran, pero no me gusta mucho todo lo que sufren en el proceso, como el accidente y lo que viene tiempo después, y me hubiese gustado que ellos hayan tenido la iniciativa y coraje de buscarse tiempo después, no tener que esperar que mas de 40 años para que aparezca una perseverante periodista para que los una. A nivel emocional diría que me movió mucho por dentro, ya que fué muy lindo el reencuentro entre ambos amantes en el mismo parque en el que se besaron por primera vez hace mucho tiempo atrás, y también me conmovió que Ellie haya decidido darse una nueva oportunidad de amar luego de ver como sufrían Anthony y Jennifer por haberse perdido el uno al otro, se haya dado cuenta q es mejor aprovechar el amor que dejarlo ir y diría, que esas escenas fueron mis favoritas de toda la película jajaja. Aunque es una pelicula ambientada en 2 épocas distintas (presente y pasado) me pareció que está bien hecha.
I also liked the photography of the film a lot, as well as the setting, especially that of the 60s, which for me was the best. And I would also like to commend the wardrobe department that this film had as the wardrobe that Shailene Woodley wears throughout the film I really loved. Although the film did not do very well at the level of criticism and acceptance because it received many mixed reviews, in my opinion it is a beautiful film (with its pros and cons) and good to enjoy either as a family or alone hahaha. Personally, I almost always end up very emotional with this type of story and this was no exception, I would like to recommend it to everyone and especially to movie fans of this type, I assure you that they will have a nice time watching it.
La fotografía de la película también me gustó mucho, así como también la ambientación en especial la de los años 60 la cual para mí fué la mejor. Y también me gustaría elogiar al departamento de vestuario que tuvo esta película ya que el vestuario que usa Shailene Woodley a lo largo de la película realmente me encantó. Aunque a la película a nivel de las críticas y aceptación no le fué muy bien porque recibió muchas críticas mixtas, en mi opinión es una hermosa película (con sus pros y contras) y buena para disfrutar ya sea en familia, como en solitario jajaja. En lo personal, casi siempre termino muy emocional con este tipo de historias y esta no fué la excepción, me gustaría recomendársela a todos y especialmente a los fans del cine de este tipo, les aseguro que pasarán un rato agradable mirándola.
