Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

Chiwitel Ejiofor e Naomie Harris sono i protagonisti di questa strana produzione che, sin dal pilot, si presenta con un ibrido che, minuto dopo minuto, riesce a mostrarsi come una serie molto molto divertente. Finisce qui?

La visione del pilot mi ha molto soddisfatto. Episodio lineare e simpatico che ho guardato con gusto. I 2 attori, oltre ad essere assolutamente in parte, hanno dimostrato una buona dose di affinità. La chimica fra i 2 è sembrata incoraggiante ed in molti casi ha esaltato quanto gli autori avevano ideato. Nonostante le tante cose estremamente positive ed una soddisfazione generale palpabile, ho avuto un passeggero martellante che durante tutta la durata del pilot ha continuato a disturbarmi. Il suo nome è "già visto", e se pensate che mi sia riferendo al film del 1976 vi sbagliate di grosso. Il dejavù si riallaccia a qualcosa di più recente e che avevo anche recensito lo scorso anno. Si tratta di Resident Alien, serie comedy di SyFy che tanto aveva convinto nel 2021 e che da poco è ritornato con una seconda stagione (qui la recensione del primo capitolo). The Man Who Fell To Earth è a tratti identico a Resident Alien. E quando dico identico intendo...identico.

Tralasciando che tutto ricordava, dall'inizio alla fine, la sinossi di Resident Alien, ci sono stati dei momenti in cui si è andati a pescare a piene mani dallo show di SyFy. Ad esempio quando il protagonista emerge dalla propria navicella e prova ad adattarsi alle abitudini ed al linguaggio umano. Ad esempio quando prova ad assorbirne le movenze. Ad esempio quando parla della propria missione. Somiglianze da brividi che mi hanno fatto dubitare della sanità mentale degli autori. Come si può, nel 2022, scrivere una serie che assomigli cosi tanto ad una serie scritta 12 mesi prima e tra l'altro anche molto famosa? E' francamente imbarazzante. Per chi non avesse visto ne l'una, ne l'altra, provo a fare un mini recap. Un alieno arriva sulla terra. Ha bisogno di completare una missione. Per farlo ha bisogno di una donna per dei motivi che emergono pian pianino durante il pilot. L'alieno è super intelligente ma non ha nel suo DNA la conoscenza istintiva della natura umana e pertanto dovrà apprenderla.

I was very pleased with the viewing of the pilot. Sympathetic and linear episode that I watched with gusto. The 2 actors, in addition to being absolutely on point, showed a good amount of affinity. The chemistry between the 2 seemed encouraging and in many cases enhanced what the writers had conceived. Despite the many extremely positive things and a palpable general satisfaction, I had a hammering passenger that throughout the duration of the pilot continued to bother me. Its name is "seen it before," and if you think I'm referring to the 1976 film, you are sadly mistaken. The dejavu harkens back to something more recent that I also reviewed last year. This is Resident Alien, SyFy comedy series that had so convinced in 2021 and has recently returned with a second season (here is the review of the first chapter). Too bad with that exaggerated resemblance to Resident Alien, because I didn't mind the pilot at all. Too bad, too bad, too bad!
